After the Green Fields land scam in which he was arrested, Sankar is now facing a problem from his own household.

Sankar�s daughter-in-law Vishnu Priya filed a petition in the high court, charging him of harassing her for dowry. She said though she had complained to the CCS police, they had not taken any action and urged the court to direct the police to arrest him.

Responding to the petition, the high court has on Wednesday issued notices to Sankar Rao, his son Sasank, DGP and the Central Crime Station women wing.

Vishnu Priya also alleged that Sanar Rao, her husband Sasank, mother-in-law Viswa Santi and Sankar Rao’s daughter Susmita were harrassing for dowry and asked that all of them be arrested. She said in her petition that the criminal court had earlier directed them to surrender and give the passports to the police and they had not complied with the direction. She said even the police had not acted on the court’s orders. She said the harrassment started after Sankar Rao’s daughter came back home.

The former ministers submitted to the court that the CDs submitted by the CBI were not clear and they would file their counters after the original CDs were submitted. They pleaded with the court to direct the CBI to file original CDs.

It may be mentioned here that the CBI had submitted to the court the CDs of media conferences addressed by Dharmana and Sabita stating that what they told to the media amounted to contempt of the judiciary. Stating that the duo told the media that they did not commit anything wrong and claimed that they would come out clean, the CBI questioned how they could say that they would come out clean, when the matter was before a court. The CBI contended that this amounted to contempt of the judiciary. The court, which admitted the memos of the CBI, directed the former ministers to file their counters.

To this, the two said they would file their counters only after CBI submitted original CDs. Dharmana and Sabita told the court that they had only told the media why they had resigned. However, the CBI prosecutors told the court that they had taken the videos from the You Tube. The defence counsels of the ministers said the videos of You Tube were not authentic.

It may be recalled that Dharmana and Sabita had resigned from the cabinet after the CBI named them accused in the Jagan illegal assets case. They later held media conferences and claimed innocence. They exuded confidence that they would be able to prove their innocence in the court.

Taking objection to the two claiming innocence and stating that they would come out clean, the CBI contended that this amounted to contempt of court and sought their custody. The CBI said the two were likely to influence the witnesses if they were allowed to remain out.

Reports said that the Congress party’s core committee came to the conclusion that conceding Telangana would not be possible and preferred package. The package would include employment, quota for political posts, national status to Pranahita and Chevella projects and separate fund for the backward districts of Telangana. While legality would be provided to some of the commitments, there would be clear assurance on the others. It is being said that Rahul Gandhi has been seriously concentrating about the problem and was keen on resolving it at the earliest.

However, both the Congress and non-Congress leaders of Telangana are unlikely to accept package or any other solution to the Telangana tangle. Even the Congress ministers who met recently made it clear that nothing short of Telangana would satisfy them.

Digvijay was known to be very close to the then Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. It was he who gave access to the late CM to the Congress High Command.

Now why was he brought in again? This is the question biting the minds of not only Congress leaders, but also the leaders of other parties in the state.

Digvijay Singh is incidentally very close to the Congress vice president and the prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi. Because of his vast experience as the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and as the top strategist of the party, Rahul has taken him into his inner circle. As he had also worked in Andhra Pradesh and is aware of the terrain and the leaders, Rahul is heavily depending on the stalwart to solve the AP mess.

But things in AP got far too complicated after YSR’s death. The Telangana tangle on one side and the Jagan factor on the other have been worrying the Congress High Command. With this, those who know Sonia Gandhi are aware that it was she who has been pulling back all the efforts to create Telangana and none else. At one stage she even told people in her inner circle that she would not mind even losing AP state.

But Rahul is keen on retaining AP. This is the reason why he brought back Digvijay into AP scene say sources. Digvijay coordinated well with YSR and contributed to strengthening of the party.

Digvijay is also close to the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao. Congress High Command now wants to use his goodwill with both Jagan and KCR to bring the party back to power, though not in the state, at the centre.

It is being said that Rahul was keen on bringing Jagan back into Congress fold. If that was not possible, then he wants some working arrangement with him. Same is the case with the TRS also. Congress and TRS could fight the elections together with an understanding of a future coalition partnership.

It is in the context of building rapport with both Jagan and KCR that Digvijay was brought into the scene say sources. KVP Rama Chandra Rao, also known as a master strategist, is being used in mending both Jagan and KCR, say sources. It is learnt that Digvijay had already had one round of discussions with KVP about how to go about softening both Jagan and KCR. In the days to come, it is being said that KVP-Digvijay combo would finalize the strategies and make plans for a win-win situation for the Congress, in the 2014 elections.
    

He was sworn in, in the presence of the party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao. Several TRS politburo members and other senior leaders attended the programme. The Telangana Bhavan reverberated with Jai Telangana slogans on the occasion. Earlier KCR, KK and others garlanded the statues of Telangana Thalli and Prof Jai Shankar.

Speaking at the Assembly media point on Tuesday, Tirupati MLA Bhoomana Karunakar Reddy asked the Congress government how it could keep their leader in the jail. He accused the government of keeping their leader in the jail as it was afraid of his soaring popularity and party growth. Stating that Jagan was never in the government, he questioned as he would earn illegal money. He said the six ministers who had signed the 26 GOs were corrupt and not Jaganmohan Reddy.
