It has been the custom in Maramdoddi village of Kurnool district to have recording dance during Sriramanavami festivals. Two constables who were sent to stop the obscene dances, instead got fully drunk and danced to the tune of double meaning songs along with dancing girls.

As a popular TV channel telecast the dances of head constable Chinnayya and another constable, police had taken a serious note of the matter and the two were reportedly served notices by the higher authorities.

When media asked him if he would launch a political party, he sarcastically said he had no courage to launch a party and make money like others. It is being felt that he meant this comment against Chiranjeevi, who launched his PRP and was charged of taking money for issuing party tickets. There are allegations that Chanjeevi took money for even merging his party in Congress.

It may be mentioned here that Mohan Babu recently went to Chanchalguda jail and met the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. His daughter-in-law (Vishnu’s wife) is related to the family of late YSR. Though he said he met Jagan as they were related, he strongly condemned his persecution. He has alleged that Jagan was falsely implicated in illegal cases. It is being said that the actor might contest from the YSRCP in the next elections.

Mohan Babu who is also related to the TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu, developed differences with him. It was then said that the fight was about the investments he made in the Heritage project of Naidu. Mohan Babu was Rajya Sabha member from TDP from 1995 to 2001.

It may be recalled that he has been facing charges of grabbing land in the Green Fields housing society. Nampalli court has sanctioned him anticipatory bail in the case.  When police last time took Sankar Rao to the station for questioning, he fell seriously ill and had to be shifted to hospital. Police were then blamed for roughing him up. Several Dalit leaders condemned the police for the way they handled the case.

The former minister earlier got a stay on his prosecution. However, the high court has recently lifted the stay on the former minister’s prosecution. It was after the vacation that the police took him to the station. Fearing arrest, Sankar Rao applied for anticipatory bail.
 

The two heroes who attended the TSR awards function had expressed no friendliness apart from a formal shake hand. Though Balayya received award for the Sri Rama Rajyam film, he has not mentioned about Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who portrayed the character of Valmiki in the film. This is being discussed in the film industry.

Nagarjuna is said to be angry with the TDP as the party has started targeting him and his business ventures. Though Nagarjuna had no direct dealings with Jagan, his proximity to Nimmagadda Prasad, who is in Chanchalguda jail in connection with the Vanpic project, is being considered as closeness to Jagan, by the TDP. As Nimmagadda is a major investor in Jagan’s companies, Nagarjunna is being targeted by all the leaders of the TDP. It is learnt that Nagarjuna was hurt that Bala Krishna was doing nothing to control TDP’s tirade against him. This has virtually made both of them enemies.

Unconfirmed reports said that Nagarjuna had also invested in the Vanpic project. As he has been regularly visiting Chanchalguda jail, there is a discussion in political as well as film circles that Nagarjuna also invested money in the Vanpic project.

It is in this backdrop that the TDP started a vigorous tirade against Nagarjuna, embarrassing him.

Nagarjuna had given clarification that no irregularities were committed by the Akkineni family for constructing the Annapurna studio. He said though the land was offered to his father free of cost for developing the studio, they had purchased it on government prescribed rate. He also explained that they had spent a lot of money and toiled to pound the hills given to them to construct the studio at the place. He said when the studio land was allotted to them, there was nothing excepting the studio there and it was not a prime land.

Despite being pioneer of the film industry and the main person who played key role in shifting the industry from the then Madras to Hyderabad, Akkineni and his family being targeted by the TDP is worrying Nagarjuna. This is the reason why he has been averse to talk to Bala Krishna say film industry sources.
