Special songs turning double edged swords

Share
Movie lovers, general public and film makers are of the opinion that special songs or raunchy item numbers are the sure and safe way to success. Even from aspiring stars to top heroines everyone believe they are the shortcut to stardom. While in the olden days there used to be special actress’ specialized for the item numbers or club songs, that difference has been erased long time back. Many top beauties sizzled in item numbers providing delicious treat to movie lovers and masses. Now film makers can not think of making a film without including an item number. However film critics and trade analysts are having different opinion on item songs being the shortcut to stardom.
They feel if a item number become a superhit then a new comer is sure to graduate from item gal to heroine but it is not the same case with a established star. If a top heroine decides to do a item number then many rumors do around. Many say she is doing the song as she is starved of offers. If the song turns out to be a hit it will be a plus point to heroine or else she will be branded as failure and film makers stops making offers to her as heroine also.
Beauties like Malaika Khan in ‘Dil Se’ or Sonali Bendre in ‘Bombay’ achieved stardom and became top stars. But it is not the same case with all. In tollywood more recently Parvathi Melton turned heroine after her ‘Dookudu’ hit number ‘Poove Poove’. Similar is the case with Meenakshi Dixit who turned heroine in ‘Devaraya’. One has to wait and watch what will be the fate of Bertante who starred in ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’ and said ‘Disturb Chestande’.

Botsa is on tenterhooks with Current Happenings !

Share
Many people for months wondered what magic APCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana cast on Congress High Command. This is because even when serious allegations of corruption charges in Volkswagen case or Liquor mafia in his Vijayanagaram constituency, no concrete action was taken against him. In fact Botsa managed to stall ACB raids on his liquor syndicate in his constituent, though officials were in full swing across the state. He got its chief transferred from the department itself.
This signified the immense clout he has at the Center and powers that matter. Many thought in the ongoing bitter battle with CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, he will emerged winner hands down. However much to the shock of many, it was other way round. It seems Botsa confidently hooked deadly bouncer bowled by Kiran but was caught at the boundary line. Many feel third umpire (High Command) decision is awaited and any moment it will be in favor of Kiran.
This is a major victory and a coup of sorts for Kiran. If he manages to get Botsa out, he would have successfully weakened the victory march of his enemies successfully. Botsa has been for long eying his CM post and many times he expressed his wish in personal and private meetings. Botsa is currently busy in Delhi trying to meet the High Command and influence the decision. It has to be seen how successful he will be in his efforts.

Masses scared of stars ‘Mass Attacks’

Share
Tollywood’s star heroes and top directors are always of the opinion that masses are the heart of the success formula and to win silver screen wars, one should entertain masses. So right from the olden days they used to make films that are completely loaded with mass dialogues, double meaning stuff , breathtaking stunts, hero teasing heroines before romancing them, and then thrashing villains knocking living day lights out of them. Films like ‘Samarasimha Reddy’ gave new dimension to mass entertainers and many similar films flooded tollywood to entertain. However masses used their intelligence and sent many of them packing.
Though many times they drove home the point that they appreciate creativity and innovativeness in storyline, heroes and directors did not give importance to their feelings. Even young and upcoming heroes like Naga Chaitanya who entertained all with ‘Yemaya Chesave’ and Prabhas with ‘Mr.Perfect’ started trying for mass image. Chaitu is undeterred even though masses showed him his true place making ‘100% love’ super hit while detesting ‘Dada’ and ‘Bezawaad’. Balakrishna tasted failure with ‘Adhinayakudu’ and NTR with ‘Dammu’. Even Mass Raja Ravi Teja failed to entertain masses with ‘Nippu’, ‘Veera’, ‘Daruvu’ and more recently ‘Deuvud Chesina Manushulu’.
All this shows that masses are scared of stars’ ‘mass attacks’. However they are not halting as films like Autonagar Surya, Rebel, Srimannarayana, Adda and others are waiting to attack masses.

Mega Cousins’ betting game

Share
The year started off in a grand manner for Mega Family and with lady luck smiling on sliver screen for all the mega heroes, festive atmosphere is on in the family. While Power Star Pawan Kalyan created a sensation scoring a hit after a decade, rewriting all tollywood records turning ‘Gabbar Singh’, Mega Power Star Ram Charan is on song after creating ‘Racha’ at box office after tasting a disaster with ‘Orange’. He is busy with his bollywood debut venture ‘Zanjeer’ and simultaneously turning ‘Nayak’ and ‘Yevadu’ under VV.Vinayak and Srinu Vytla’s direction. Stylish Star Allu Arjun also gave jolly ride to mega fans with ‘Julaayi’ after ‘Badrinath’ bombed at the box office. He is readying to romance with Iddaru Ammayilu soon.
Mega cousins Cherry and Bunny entertained all with their betting games on silver screen. While Cherry became Betting Raj in Racha and won all the bets in the film and also at box office, Bunny as ‘Julaayi’ went on to win a bet but later drove home the point that one should not look for easy money in an indirect reference to Cherry. How fans receive it and how Cherry reacts to his advice has to be seen in his future films. However it seems there is no hard feelings between them as Bunny is starring in a special role in Cherry’s ‘Yevadu’.

Signal less KCR-Still strong

Share

People may be making fun of TRS chief KCR who had been till recently boasting about receiving signals from Central Govt on the formation of Telangana State. For more than two months, KCR after the byelections has been harping on signals he was receiving from UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the then home minister Chidambaram. Chidambaram however had lucky escape now that his portfolio has been changed. When media carried out stories and analysis of how KCR is taking people of telangana for a ride, he fumed at them, asking them to stop making provocative statements and even made fun of them mocking if not he, will useless people like them get signals. Many started believing his statements and expected some kind of announcement from Centre on Telangana after by elections or later President and Vice President Polls. Nothing happened.
However KCR was undeterred as he told everyone that if by Aug 20th something comes out then it will be festival for telangana or will be going on an all out war. Nothing happened and KCR is not even opening his mouth. Many started writing off signal less KCR. But people will be writing him off at their own peril. KCR is a witty and wily politician. He knows at present everyone is against him and even JAC of which Kondandaram is the president. Students are angry with him and so he don’t want to take any unilateral action. He knows very well that he can not force by elections with just 18 months for general elections.
He is just bidding his time and knowing KCR’s nature one can expect him to whip up passions in the run for general elections putting all parties in a bind.

Music director depends on Numerology for luck

Share
Music director Kalyani Malik had decent musical hits like Ashta Chemma, Aithe, Andhrudu and Ala Modalaindi on his back but they could not give the much required thrust to his career. He recently composed music for Balakrishna’s Adhinayakudu and hoped the movie would change its fortunes but the movie bombed miserably leaving him in distress.
And now on the advice of a numerologist, He is going to change his screen name from ‘Kalyani Malik’ to Kalyani. Kalyani Malik has also changed his facebook profile from ‘Kalyani Malik’ to ‘Kalyani Koduri’. His next film will be in the direction of Indraganti Mohana Krishna and will be produced by Damodar (Ranjith Movies). Kalyani Malik has delivered a hit each (Ashta Chemma and Ala Modalaindi) in the past.

Andrea Jeremiah comfortable in sister role

Share
Andrea Jeremiah is going to play the elder sister of Hansika in Naga Chaitanya and Sunil starer movie. The movie is the official remake of Super hit Tamil movie Vettai. When asked if she was comfortable to elder in elder sister role, She replied cleverly
“Of course, I had my reservations. I’m still in my mid 20s, but Hansika is like a baby. She’s barely 21 years old. So, in reality, most actresses are like her older sisters, whether they like it or not. So, I decided to focus on the role rather than its surroundings. And it’s a very meaty role, everyone who’s seen the film knows that.”
The movie shooting had began earlier this month.

RGV giving blood shower

Share
RGV was once a rage across the country. His debut film in 1989 ‘Shiva’ was a sensation and at once gave superstardom to Nagarjuna, making him student leader. He then showed the sensuous side of Urmila, which many bollywood film makers missed. His ‘Rangeela’ made Urmi hot star in 1995, and even showed the romantic side of action hero Jackie Shroff. From then on he became a silver screen psychopath giving blood shower to movie lovers on silver screen.
Most of his films are based on mafia raj, warring factions, ghosts, spirits showing the gory and scary side to his fans and movie lovers. Many family viewers who expected Ananganga O Roju kind of films from RGV stopped watching his flicks because of senseless blood bath and violence. Though his films Corporate, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Satya highlighted the realistic reasons behind violence, he from then on started glorifying senseless violence, thinking that it will take him and his films to stardom.
His much hyped Raktha Charitra failed as he deviated from the core subject and similar is his KSD Appalaraju which showed how much he hates tollywood industry. Once he made statements that he is making films only for himself and don’t care about whether others watch or not, many stopped paying attention to him.
However he comes with films like ‘Reddy garu Poyaru’, ‘Ramayanam’ and ‘26/11 atacks’ to be in the lime light. Movie lovers are saying they are not ready for RGV’s ‘Blood Shower’ on silver screen.

Niadu-NTR’s real enemy

Share
When Viswa Vikhyata Nataswarva Bhowma NTR floated TDP and swept to power in Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu Naidu joined him jumping from Congress. Till then he was rubbing shoulders with Later YSR. During that time many felt that it was Naidu’s administrative and organizing skills that helped NTR in making TDP such a strong force to reckon with. Their relationship gelled well till the time Naidu decided to dethrone NTR when he married Lakshmi Parvathi at a ripe age. Even kith and kin of NTR participated in the coup little realizing that Naidu is the real enemy of NTR.
NTR breathed last unable to bear the insult meted out by his son-in-law Naidu, and then Naidu after making use of NTR’s kith and kin dumped them in dust bin. NTR’s daughter Prandreswari along with her husband Daggubati Venkateswara Rao chose to join Congress and now became Union HRD Minister for state. Harikrishna is suffering the insults of Naidu. Now Naidu cast his eyes on Balakrishna as he wants to make use of him. What will be his status in future can not be predicted by any.
Naidu though insulted NTR and was the cause of his death, never allowed people to brand him for that. He quickly sent a letter on behalf of his party asking for installation of NTR’s idol at Parliament Central Hall and even named Shamshabad Air Port on NTR’s name. Though Air Port is later named after Rajiv Gandhi, though Central Govt allocated land for NTR’s idol at Parliament in 2000 itself, Naidu started delaying the process.
He started sending letters sideling NTR’s daughter Purandreswari whose signature was required. Inspite of Speaker’s repeated requests Naidu did not mend his ways and remained adamant. Now everyone knows who is the real enemy of NTR.

Congress’ real rivals

Share
Congress which ruled the country for most of the time is unable to find out who its real rivals are. All its leaders and cadres across the country and in Andhra Pradesh are so battle friendly that they are always on lookout to wage bitter battles with opponent political parties. If opposition is not willing to fight these battles, then they start fighting in between themselves thus neglecting country’s and state’s development. This is the main problem of Congress due to which people will be eager to teach the party fitting lessons many times presenting them devastating defeats. However neither the party nor its leaders mend their ways as they are aware that there is no alternative for people to choose between.
One look at present state leaders leave all disgruntled with the party. APCC chief Botsa fights CM Kiran and then again both of them travel together and give joint statements rubbing shoulders with each other. Ministers will be part of the cabinet decision but then come out in open and take to roads creating law and order problem, behaving like rowdies. Leaders from one region spit venom on other region in broad day light but the same leaders will dine with each other during nights.
This shows that Congress’ real enemies are its leaders who are creating confusion in cadre on whether to fight the opposition or fight between themselves.

Directors enjoy at Producers’ expense

Share
Today most of the Tollywood films are being shot only in overseas, mostly in Europe or Singapore, Thailand. Movie lovers are left wondering why film makers are smitten by overseas beauties when local locations can score over the beauty and exoticism in many aspects. They say even production costs will come down if shot in country’s beautiful locations. However all these words have no effect on film makers as they fall in deaf ears.
Sometime back a producer from coastal Andhra , produced a film with debutant director. But after the film’s success, the producer to the surprise of all revealed that he prayed to almighty for the failure of the film. He said now that the film has become a hit, many more film makers like him will suffer at the hands of that director. This shows how much torment directors give to producers. Top tollywood producer Rama Naidu used to say that producers should be treated with respect. However now a days , many directors are squeezing and sucking the blood of producers. Many producers off the record agree with this statement giving vent to their feelings.
Film makers normally aspire to do films with top directors and heroes. From then on their tribulations start. Many heroes now are not asking film makers not about subject but about their budget. That was the reason why a producer who recently made a hit film with top hero and a top director never went on to do another film. One wonder what value Puri Jagannath for example has given to the crores the producer spent on ‘Deuvdu Chesina Manushulu’.
Producers like MS.Raju,,Ramanaidu, Doraisamy Raju, Aswini DUtt drastically reduced their films. Films of Dasari Narayana rao and Ramanaidu never used to cross the budget. One look at Prabhas’ ‘Rebel’ tells the whole story. Original producer left due to the rising costs and delay in the project and it was left to Dil Raju to take up the project. The fault lies with Raghava Lawrence, the director. Nagababu still couldn’t recover from the losses he suffered with super flop ‘Orange’. If a director thinks creatively a classic film can be made at low cost. Best example is Santosh Sivan’s ‘Urimi’ which was shot in outdoors and simple sets. Had the film been directed by tollywood directors budget would have risen enormously. ‘Sakuni’ is another example where the entire film had been shot in a old house. The film makers did not even erect a set of the old building. They shot in a old Chettinad House in Tamil Nadu.
Directors should keep in mind that producers are required for film making in tollywood and should not suck their money considering the notes as mere papers.

Babies can’t-Patients can

Share
Doctors at Osmania hospital went on strike after relatives of a patient who lost his life, went on rampage and damaged furniture assaulting doctors on duty. Many people who heard about the incident started commenting that doctors and govt authorities are bearing the brunt of angry patients and their relatives. They point out that when so many babies died at Tirupathi’s Ruia Hospital none of the authorities and political parties including Govt thought it worth mentioning in their media interactions. In fact The hospital authorities went on record saying media was exaggerating the deaths. Since babies were helpless and couldn’t question, they acted according to the whims and fancies which was not the case in Osmania. One visit Osmania shows the condition in which patients are treated. The unhygienic atmosphere and with no proper toliets shows the concern of the Govt towards poor and needy. Rampant corruption right from the entrance to the exit even after death of the patient tests any one’s patience. Even doctors who vouch don’t use water present there as they fear diseases. Patients are treated in disease prone premises and this is the state of Govt hospitals across India.
They advertise in a grand manner about Arogyasri cards but patients are thrown out even from Govt hospitals. So when patients undergo all this sufferings it is natural for them to lose tempers and assault unheeding doctors. Doctors make mountain out of mole hill but one doesn’t know what was the state of the case when MLAs and MPs assaulted them when they were on duty. So people say where Babies can’t-People have every right to take them to task.

Mayor’s magic to mesmerise?

Share
Hyderabad had its first Majlis Mayor in young Md. Majid Hussain. His party MIM and he planned to utilise the opportunity to increase its support base and lay a strong foundation for the next general elections. MIM is confined to only old city and the party plans to expand in the heart of Hyderabad so that it can come into reckoning in AP politics. However already six months completed since Majid took reigns but till now nothing drastic happened and with conditions of roads deteriorating and the city getting flooded for even small rains troubles started for him signalling the end of Honey Moon period. Majid seems to have heard the warning bells, as he promised strict action against erring officials. He said during these hibernation period he understood the nitty gritty of his responsibilities and now will show his class and stamp his authority.
He promised to sack erring officials, noting that corrupt officials are increasing at alarming proportions. He is planning to pay surprise visits but many wonder how such visits yield results. Many feel that first he should pay attention to Old City where till now proper ameneties are not provided and muslims for whose cause they boast of championing, live in utter poverty. Once those things are taken care of and corruption is fist contained in their party office everything will fall in place. They say his promise of magic to mesmerise people will not help even with him in possession of ‘Allaudin Magic Lamp’.

Brothers’ blast on silver screen

Share
Just like other film industries Tollywood is ruled by top heroes and their sons along with their family members. In one or the other department of the film making one could find family relations of top stars. Till recently the film industry witnessed sons of top tollywood stars making their debut and testing their luck in the glamor field. However the film industry is bracing for the debut of brothers of top stars in future.

While Naga Chaitanya’s brother Akhil Akkineni’s debut has been the talk of the town for quite some time, since there is quite some time for his grand entry, T-town is focusing on debut of brothers of Rana, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun. Allu Sirish, brother of Allu Arjun who runs a cine magazine South Scope is already shooting for his debut film ‘Gauravam’. Interestingly Naga Chaitanya walked out of the project directed by Radha Mohan. Mega Family is planning for a grand introduction of Varun Tej, cousin of Ram Charan in a top director’s film. Even Leader Rana’s brother is also eying tollywood debut.

Tollywood will be twinkling brightly with the star shine of dynamic dads, super sons, breathtaking brothers and naughty nephews. One has to wait and watch how many of them will attract the attention of movie lovers and whom viewers will pass in the silver screen test.

Chiru deserts Cherry

Share
Mega Star Chiranjeevi deserted Cherry much to the shock of millions of mega fans when he needed him the most. This stunning decision he announced it on his Birth Day making it more heart breaking for Cherry. Mega fans celebrated on hearing the news of Chiru doing a special role in Ram Charan’s bollywood debut film ‘Zanjeer’. When every one started questioning him about his role in the film, to the surprise of many Chiru said the media reports baffled him and he was not doing any kind of role in Ram Charan’s ‘Zanjeer’ nor thinking of his 150th mile stone film.
Many felt had Chiru went ahead with the special role in Charan’s ‘Zanjeer’ the film would have been a sensation and point out that all Cherry’s hit films had atleast one super hit remix song from his old films. They feel that since it is a bollywood debut film for Cherry, Chiru’s role would have made a special for the entire film. Fans are angry that Mega Star deserted Ram Charan at the crucial time, when he needed him the most. This way he may even anger Lady Luck which is in love with Ram Charan. One has to wait and see what will be the effect of Chiru deserting Cherry’s ‘Zanzeer’.

Law Makers turning Law Breakers

Share
People who are entrusted with the responsibility of law making by public are fast turning into law breakers causing law and order problem to the same public in general. Many MLAs and MPs are known to be maintaining their own army, carry own weapons etc. Recently MLA and Minister Danam Nagender behaved in a high handed manner taking law into his hands and locking popular temple at the heart of Hyderabad. As if this was not enough he even abused SI Ramesh who was just doing his duty. Though complaint has been registered nothing happened in his case.
Even before People could forget the whole episode fire brand MLA of TRS, Harish Rao two days back hurled foul language on DCP Stephen Ravindra and even kicked constable who fell down while vacating the place filled with mob protesting rise in electricity charges at Vidyut Sowdha. Harish Rao sometime back got his case registered in Delhi for assaulting an employee in Andhra Bhavan, by reaching an agreement with the assaulted family. One is aware how agreements are reached by politicians.
Already people accuse politicians of misusing their power and allowing corruption across departments. They are accused of moving hand in hand with law enforcing authorities, sidelining honest officials. If these kind of incidents happen and with Ministers and MLAs go on assaulting top police or law enforcing authorities, even those officials who think of working will stop doing their duties.
