Are popular awards really popular?

Now a days many reputed organisations started giving awards and rewards felicitating top films, performances for the year in Tollywood film industry. However many wonder whether all those wards are really popular or not as sometimes many films or stars win awards though their films don’t do well at the box office and movie lovers unaware of their names.

Most of these awards are decided by online polls or smses and if one goes by that strategy, then local drawing master will win award in contest with renowned Picasso paintintg. More recently two small budget films with double meaning dialogues became superhits. If one goes by collections and records then better give them awards.

Some time back Darsakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao miffed with the awards committee blasted the Committee Chairman DVS.Raju as two of his classic films did not get awards. In two days time an unknown organisation came up and felicitated Dasari and his two films and later the organisation disappeared into the oblivon. This shows how awards are actually given.

Awards decided by online polls and smses have one drawback. A person can send numerous smses and as such only educated urban youth will be participating while masses who are the driving force between any film’s success will be deprieved of having any say in deciding the awards. This itself shows that award winning movies don’t actually reflect the mood of the movie lovers.

Why Kollywood stars run for Rajamouli

Ever since Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ created a sensation not only at the Tollywood box office but across the world, shocking all, media was abuzz with one story or other about Tollywood Jakkana Rajamouli. They said Bollywood film makers are bracing to accord red carpet welcome to the Darsaka Deera and Kollywood film makers and super stars are longing to act in his direction.

It went ahead and reported that Rajamouli is doing a Rs 120 crs high budget film with Super Star Rajanikanth and another film with sensational star Surya. ‘Eega’ might have minted money but is on its descending flight with in a month and is debut production venture ‘Anadala Rakshasi’ failed to connect with the movie lovers.

Many wonder when Kollywood film industry has so many Rajamouli’s in creative directors like Maniratnam, Shankar, Bala and others why will they let go an opportunity to direct Rajani or Surya to Tollywood director Rajamouli. Mani Ratnam has made many flims like Bombay, Roja, Dil Se, Guru, Yuva, Dalapathi,Shankar came up with sensations like Gentleman, Oke Okkadu, Sivaji, Aparichitudu, Robot, Jeans and others. Even stars in kollywood are unlike our telugu heroes who run after kollywood directors, music directors ignoring local talent. It has to be seen whether Rajamouli will ever direct kollywood super stars.

Sometime back top producer Konda Krishnam Raju proudly announced the launch of ‘Prince of Peace’ under Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s direction. The film makers announced that Power Star Pawan Kalyan would be seen in the role of Jesus Christ much to the delight of millions of mega fans. The film unit went and shot some scenes at Jesus’ birth place Jerusalem. However the film makers later shelved the project due to the high costs involved in the making of the film. However some feel the reason for the project being disbanded his the lukewarm response from his fans.

Now the buzz is King Nagarjuna will be donning the role of Jesus Christ under top director Raghavendra Rao. Many wonder whether he can succeed where Power Star Pawan Kalyan failed. Nag and Raghavendra Rao duo delivered super hit devotional films like ‘Annamayya’ and ‘Sri Ramadasu’ and now they are coming with ‘Shirdi Sai’. Movie lovers and film critics opine that Nag has it in him to mesmerise all with his kind of acting.

A thorough experimentalist, Nag has a penchant for creative and innovative films and proved his mettle with his performance. The film is all set for a grand launch in Jan 2013. Some skeptics say that till now he shone in hindu devotional films and his transformation to Christian religion and winning their hearts will be watched with keen interest. If Nag succeeds in winning their hearts, then he will truly be regarded as ‘King’ of Tollywood.

Ek Tha Tiger collects around 35C on Day 1

Salman Khan’s most awaited film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ might have received mixed response from critics, but the Kabir Khan film has kept the Box Office ringing since its release, the Rs 75 crore budget film has reportedly made a business of Rs 32 crore on the first day itself!

The movie is produced by Yash Raj Films, The film has been shot at expensive locales spread across 5 countries.

Popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to write, “#EkThaTiger Wed biz still being compiled. Yashraj still getting data. So one can only estimate. Anywhere between 32 to 35 cr nett. Ab bolo!(sic), and added, “To state that #EkThaTiger has created History would be wrong. Wed figures are BEYOND HISTORIC(sic).”

Rana shoots with Ajith!

His maiden venture in Tamil,Ongaram (Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum in Telugu),is yet to hit screens, but Rana Daggubati has already squeezed in time to shoot for Ajith’s next,directed by Vishnuvardhan. He’s playing a cameo in this film and his portion will be wrapped up in the next few days.

Vishnu Vardhan (of Panjaa fame) is directing the film and it stars Ajith, Nayanthara, Arya and Taapsee in lead roles. It’s been a hectic month for Rana, so far. Apart from the shooting of Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, he was busy with the engagement ceremony of his sister Malavika and now he’s back to work again.

Movie on Divya Bharati’s mysterious death

Famous yesteryear actress Divya Bharathi who was often referred to as a young Sridevi fell to her death from her Mumbai apartment on April 5 1993. The cause of her death still remains a mystery. And now Bollywood is making a movie titled Love Behind The Border, reportedly based on the life of famous actress who ruled the roost in the 90s.

Greece actress Tatiana Tsapikidou has been ropped in to play the role of Divya’s costume designer Neeta Lulla. A source said, “During Divya’s last moments, her designer, Neeta, and her husband producer Sajid Nadiadwala were a constant by her side. The makers felt that Tatiana is perfect for the role of Neeta. Actor Vije Bhatia will play Sajid. ” The source also adds, “The film is not to sensationalise the loss of a good actress, but it is just to pay a tribute to her.”

Film Secrecy is money making style

Now a days Tollywood film makers are following new techniques which they learnt from their counterparts especially Bollywood. Bollywood film makers to generate interest in their projects maintain utmost secrecy so that no one can get to know the storyline of the film or day to day developments. They take steps in such a manner that none can use their personal mobiles and no one should bring anything from house. They will be doing frisking and even erect CC cameras to follow the actions of unit members and artists.

It seems similar trend is catching up in tollywood. Recently Srinu Vytla maintained secret about Young Tiger NTR’s new look in ‘Badshah’ which unfortunately was revealed due to the political developments in his TDP party. As such the film’s shooting is in progress and according to information one unit memeber recorded and took some snaps on his mobile. A furious Srinu Vytla slapped him and shouted at him saying if these snaps are leaked craze on film will be reduced.

Similar is the case with producer Bellamkonda Suresh who is busy with high budget film. His film unit erected an extravagant set in film city. When shooting was on a junior female artist recorded the shoot and the same was leaked in the shooting of another film. Producer shouted at the Manager who bought that girl. He even cancelled the the next day’s shooting and drove away all the unit members. Manager in turn shouted at the female artitst later. Now secrecy is the new way of making money on silver screen.

T-Fighters not interested in Telangana

While die hard telangana people who dream of seeing Telangana State become a reality, those who shout at the top of their voices, chest beat that they are the true fighters of telangana are really not interested in the state’s formation. While there are some true leaders in Telangana and NGO’s who are actually sincere in their approach, some political parties, JAC organisations take people for a ride, raise tempers and when violence flares up which leads to the arrest of innocent students and youth they disappear. Future of many such students and youth was affected as due to the slapping of cases and arrest warrants they couldn’t pursue higher studies or apply for jobs and other entrance exams. While some student leaders who enjoy political clout escape, others bear the brunt of the moment.

Political parties with TRS in the front mislead people with its chief telling some story about other about signals and when he is need of money he raise regional fervors to meet his vested interests. Even TJACs are divided vertically and former leader Swami Gowd entangled in corruption charges shows the rut in the system. TDP and Congress play football with sentiments of the people. All these developments show that these self proclaimed T-fighters are not interested in formation of telangana as it would bring all their threatening and money making business to a full stop.

Why comedians not sustaining as stars

Each and every person feels he/she is beautiful irrespective of original appearance. That self confidence is essential to come up in life. However movie lovers have drawn some qualifications in their mind to become a tollywood hero. In the olden days heroes used to be extremely nice never to hurt others by words or deeds. They used to undergo sufferings for their values. In 60s however negative shades started creeping up in Heroes. Genex heroes have no rules and regulations with even censor board giving green signal. Currently to become a hero one should have powerful background in the film industry irrespective of his appearance. While many are ruling tollywood based on legacy and heriditary reservations a few younger lot are trying their luck with small films. Many top heroes achieved stardom after starting their career as villians. Megastar Chiranjeevi, Rebel Star Krishnam Raju, Super Sar Rajanikanth, Collection King Mohan Babu and more recently Nizam King Gopichand. But irony is comedians who tasted success as heroes couldn’t sustain their progress as heroes.

One can not see comedy stars Chandramohan, Rajendra Prasad as mere comedians. They excelled in all roles showing their versatility. Even present day comedians proved themselves as heroes but they couldn’t sustain as heroes. Guiness record holder Brahmanandam starred in films like ‘Babai Hotel’, ‘Joker Mama Super Alludu’, ‘Pellama Majaka’ etc but did not continue as hero. Though he starred in many hit films which ran solely on his presence like i’Money’, ‘Chitram Bhalare Vichitram’ and more recently in ‘Dookudu’, it is a mystery why he couln’t succeed as hero.

Babumohan did one film as ‘Sundaravadana-Subbalakshmi Moguda’ but did not continue as hero. Comedian Ali who tasted success as hero in ‘Yamaleela’,’Pittala Dora’, ‘Circus Sattipandu’,’Akkum Bakkum’, ‘Alibaba-Adbhuta Deepam’, ‘Ashadam Pellikoduku’ and ‘Hunagma’. But he settled for comedy roles. Venu Madhav who became hero with ‘Hungama’ tasted flops with ‘Bhukailas’ and ‘Premabhshekam’ and turned back to comedy roles. Same is the case with AVS with his films ‘Super Heroes’ and ‘Uncle’.

Currently only Sunil who became hero with ‘Andalaramudu’ seems to be sustaining as hero with ‘Maryadaramana’ and then ‘Poolarangadu’ though his progress has been stalled sometime back by ‘KSD Appalaraju’ and ‘Dongala Mutha’. Unless until comedy heores try to entertain people with their heroism with out exceeding their limits they will be as heroes. Orelse they become zeroes and be as comedians for ever on silverscreen.

Why mass entertainers score?

Many times urban movie lovers wonder why only mass entertainers score while class films even though they are good disappear with in a week. A close look at the mass and class films reveals the secret of mass entertainers’ success. Mass films have strong foundation at B and C centers and when they like the film, they give free publicity to the film which influences others who have not watched the film. This doesn’t stop there,. When mass viewers like a particular film. they watch it repeatedly when ever they are free. There is lot of difference between mass and class viewers. Masses are quite expressive and when they like a particular scene or song, dialogue or dance in the film they appreciate with claps , whistles and loud cheers which is not the case with class viewers. They think twice, look at others and then try to appreciate by which time, next two scenes might have been completed.

Class movie lovers crave for innovative creative and feel good films but when those kind of films come on screen, they don’t have time to watch and appreciate them. The case of ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ and ‘Onamalu’ is the classic example as to the behavior pattern of the viewers. Most saddening part is though Sri Rama Rajyam film makers offered various incentives, theaters had hardly ten people. Then again they give lectures on the insults meted out at National awards for the film and the changing tastes of movie lovers which resulted in failure of class and feel good films. That is the reason why heroes what ever may be their physique crave for mass image and film makers churn out more and more mass entertainers.

When wrong question CBI powers?

Politicians and ministers twist their tongues in what ever way they want according to their convenience. When YSCR CP after its leader Jagan Mohan Reddy’s arest , accused CBI acting at the behest of Congress and its high command all other political parties and especially cabinet ministers from Congress denied the charge vehemently and said CBI is an independent body and is acting at the behest of Supreme Court orders. Even TDP chief who till recently branded CBI as Congress Bureau of Investigation suddenly changed tack and said CBI is an independent organisation. Some say he went to Delhi and managed the political bosses there so that CBI dont act against him.

It was smooth sailing for Congress till its Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana was arrested by CBI. This came as a shock even as CM decided to provide legal aid to ministers who received notices from Supreme Court. When many in congress thought it was a one off incident, it received even bigger shock when another minister Dharmana Prasada Rao resigned when CBI included his name in the charge sheet. Till this time Congress and its cabinet ministers argued that there is no collective responsibility in Cabinet and they did everything at the behest of late CM YSR. They alleged that infact they were forced to do so. However yesterday Minister Raghuveera Reddy said CBI can not hold one minister responsible for cabinet decisions as all those decisions are made collectively. He even went on to question CBI’s powers of arresting a minister. This shows that till CBI don’t tough them it is independent authority or else it has to work under its directions.

Electricity Board’s eccentric decisions

General Public is unable to fathom AP state Electricity Board’s eccentric decisions. Even though higher courts stalled its illogical decisions to suqeeze public collecting more charges for the elapses years of 2009-2011 it is some how hell bent on formulating new rules, policies and through its committee legislate a bill that enables it to collect extra charges from the users.The High Court even stopped it from collecting chargers for the previous years and even directed the board to return back the collected amounts to the consumers.

However hard the EB argues, many people feel that the decision to collect the increased amount even for the previous years defies logic. Many house owners rent their portions and during this two year span some of the tenants might have vacated the portions. Now if EB goes ahead with its policy of collecting increased charges for previous years, they cannot collect the same from their previous tenants and new tenants naturally refuse to pay more for the years for which they haven’t stayed. Thus house owners have to shell out money from their own pocket and pay for the power usage of some one else. Many wonder how EB missed this simple logic.

Some feel that EB is hellbent on increasing charges irrespective of whatever may be the outcome and say it is the mismanagement of board that left it with losses. Many feel if EB can recover money from defaulters, mainly politicians and Govt Organisations,then it would make up for the losses but to coverup its inability to do so, it is taxing honest and sincere citizens.

War on Sonia

UPA Chairperson and Congress President enjoys extra constitutional status and there will be many stories that tells her tremendous power she enjoys. Leaders of many political parties think twice before locking horns with her and even if they oppose her, she will tame them using the power she has at her disposal. Her party leaders, how ever strong and popular they are with people,.will be like cats in front of her, kneeling down and worshiping her feet. That was the reason why she was angry with YS.Jagan, a first time MP during that time, who dared to take her on using his powerful media and banking on his father’s immense popularity. Though she faced some difficulties, she succeeded in taming the young tiger by duly putting him behind the bars.

However it seems CM Kiran who was elevated to the top post with the blessings of Sonia Gandhi decided to wage war on her. He went hammer and tongs on Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy who enjoys the trust of Sonia Gandhi. This left many in shock and some even started making comments that after by elections loss,Kiran has lost his mental stability. This is because even all powerful YS.Rajasekhar Reddy during his regime, never took on Jaipal Reddy, even though he enjoys equal clout and blessings along with the support of Sonia Gandhi.

Political analysts feel that Kiran lost all hopes of continuing in CM post and with him getting signals of immediate change, decided to go down with all guns blazing and become a martyr than tamely make way like Rosaiah for other person. One has to wait and watch where all this will lead to.

It seems there is a latest trend emerging in tollywood. Film makers are making it known that they don’t need fans for their audio launches.There seems to be sudden love for overseas in Tollywood film makers. This is nothing new when it comes to shooting of their films citing richness, giving overseas beautiful location treats to movie lovers and other things. Shooting in overseas has now become prestige issue among film makers. However new trends is fast catching tollywood film makers and that celebrating audio launch functions in overseas. It seems they are just following their Kollywood counter parts.

Film makers of ‘Maatran’ released their audio at a grand function in Singapore. The film stars Surya in lead role where he will be seen as conjoint twins for the first time in his career. Film is directed by KV.Anand of ‘Ko’. Harris Jeyraj scored music for the film.the film which is releasing in telugu as ‘Duplicate’. Kajal is playing opposite Surya. It seems Puri Jagannath and the film makers of ‘Cameraman Gangato Rambabu’ seems to be smitten by the idea and are keen on launching the film’s audio in Dubai in a grand function. Music is scored by Manisharma. Film stars Tamanna.

This shows Tollywood film makers don’t have any creativity or thinking process of their own but just follow what their kollywood or bollywood counterparts do. Whatever may be the reason, if tollywood film makers decide to release their film’s audios in overseas, it would surely deprive fans and movie lovers a chance to watch them in live action .

Jagan insults India

YSR.Supporters and YSRCP leaders hail their party chief YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of late YS.Rajasekhar Reddy as the most clean political leader who fight for the cause of people and go to any extent without budging on his word even if it means going to jail. He came out of Congress to prove these qualities and went on the so called ‘Odarpu Yatra’-“Condolence Yatra’ to console people who lost their kith and kin after hearing the news of sudden demise of YSR.

His opponents launch a scathing attack on Jagan holding him responsible for the present state of politics in AP and the condition of the sate and accuse him of indulging in quid pro qo acts when his father was the CM. However he denies all this, however he was sent packing to Chanchalguda Jail. He got a chance to showcase his patriotism towards Country and his countrymen during Independence Day. However he chose not to salute the flag and show his patriotic fervor.

His detractors say he is unpatriotic and is interested in dividing the society on caste, creed and religious lines. Jagan got into further trouble when his over enthu supporters erected posters comparing him with Gandhi. Even some of his supporters feel that Jagan is aleniating people with high handed acts hurting the sentiments of patriotic Indians

I don’t think the word fat fits in my dictionary, but to carry off that look, and glamorously so, is a big feat. Hats off to Vidya for that, I’m almost jealous!”.

Rey shooting in Caribbean Islands

YVS Chowdhary’s Rey has become the first Telugu film to be shot in Caribbean Islands. While most Telugu films have been shot extensively in Europe, USA and South-East Asia, this is the first time a Telugu film is being shot in Caribbean Islands. Currently, the film unit is in Trinidad & Tobago, an island nation in Atlantic ocean and for the next ten days, the film will be extensively shot in some breathtaking locations in this country. The film’s next schedule will begin in September in USA where the unit will film scenes in New York and Las Vegas to wrap up the entire shooting part of the movie.

Rey is a musical film in which the hero based in Carribean fights it out his way up. It seems Sai Dharam Tej and Saiyami Kher will be seen as professional dancers and Shraddha Das will play a pop diva. The first half of the film will take place in West Indies while the second half will be shot in the US. Chakri is composing the music.

Samantha to hold a press meet to clarify her absence!

Our readers are aware that Samantha is back to work once again.She was absent from shootings for almost 3 months as she suffered from a skin related disease which did not allow to come out in sun. After several postponements, she had attended the shooting for a trial shoot. She shot for Siddharth – Nandini Reddy movie on Tuesday.

And in a couple of days, she will start to work on Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. She will hold a press conference shortly to clarify everything.
