Media talk about Dammu Movie !

Share

The most waited film ‘Dhammu’ has seen light shaking entire Andhra Pradesh with huge publicity and released in Telugu all over the world.

Now let us see what national media and other popular News Dailies in English say about this film.

TimesOfIndia
Rating: 3.5/5
The movie builds up well in the first half, establishing characters and little subplots. But, in the second half, the action episodes and background score go into overdrive, assaulting your eardrums into submission. You sense a Simha hangover in the way the film plays out but for the only much more gorier direction the portrayal takes as it holds up a brand of factionalism which would have surely made quite a few stomachs turn.

The cinematography and editing are sharp and in tune with the theme of the flick. If you are a fan, you would probably be looking at the bright side.

Director Boyapati Seenu’s new film Dammu has an outdated and clichéd storyline, regressive content, and mindless and excessive violence.

NTR has lived up to his hero image by shouldering the burden of this primarily hero-centric film.

Looks like Boyapati Seenu made Dammu exclusively for NTR Jr’s fans. For others it’s an ordeal not worth enduring.

Deccan Chronicle
Rating: 2/5
As the title suggests, Dammu (Valour), is high on action and low on content.

After playing a lover-boy in Ooseravalli, reigning star Jr NTR returns as an angry young man who crushes bones, slits throats and slams opponents to the ground in high-voltage action scenes that will enthrall his fans.

Although Jr NTR puts in a decent performance as a youngster who craves peace in the region, but is forced to take up a sword to protect his zamindar family and the villagers, it would be a bigger miracle if the superstar had managed to convert this contrived plot, with inherent loopholes in the script, into a blockbuster.

Bangalore Mirror: Guts and glitz
Rating: 1/5
The film also has some superb emotional sequences while the interval break leaves you puzzled with a few twists. On the flipside, the narration is packed with too much gore and violence. (Last counted, our hero must have killed at least 50!) Perhaps over-awed by the presence of two heroines Trisha and Karthika, the director has tried to insert a romantic angle and most of the times, it looks artificial. It’s completely tailor-made for NTR and his mass fanbase.

Hindu: A violent mass entertainer
Rating: N/A
There was a time when a film set in a rural background meant feudal wars, a hero trying his best to drill sense into the rival camp and when pushed to the wall, taking up violence to teach his opponents a lesson or two. As an aside, you had more than one heroine to romance the hero. Dammu takes us back by a few decades and treats us to one such story. The film rides high on emotions and violence is thrown in for good measure.

Watch Dammu if you are game for a typical ‘mass’ entertainer where the hero does some thigh-slapping, sings and dances with two heroines, makes you laugh with his comic timing and looks at home in action sequences.

IANS: High on action, low on content

After giving two unsuccessful films at the box-office, Jr. NTR’s “Dammu” was expected to turn the tide for the actor, who is known for his fierce dialogue delivery and top class action and dances.

The trailers of the film and the speeches made by NTR and director Sreenu during the audio release function of the film had also aroused lot of expectations but unfortunately the final product does not match the hype created around the release.

NTR plays a larger than life role in “Dammu” and his dynamic performance, action and dialogues are the mainstay of the film. The film boasts of a lot of action, which might not impress the family audiences.

The film lacks engaging comedy elements despite the presence of artists like Brahmanandam and Ali.

The emotional sequences in the second half does not gel with the narration. The two heroines Thrisha and Karthika have lesser scope to perform.

Nasser plays the villain’s role to perfection. Kota, Bharani and Bhanupriya make an impact despite smaller roles.

The film is rich in production values and that is the prime reason for the film’s enhanced quality quotient.

“Dammu” may not be for those who are against too much of action and violence. But if you are a Nandamuri fan, then there are lot of elements in the film that you can enjoy. Perhaps this factor may be the key for the success of the film.

Many mistakes in Dammu movie !

Songs: Wrong placement – ‘Raju Vachinadu …’ in First Half (after the entry of NTR into the Raja palace) and ‘Ruler …’ in Second Half (after the intense and powerful chase fight) would be a better option. The much-talked ‘Ruler …’ failed to live up to the expectations – NTR looked misfit as a warrior and the disastrous wig only adds to fans woes. In fact, none of the songs have proper situation and also they weren’t even picturised well.
Dances: Not even a single top-notch dance move from NTR, who is known as a terrific dancer.
Heroines: One (Trisha) looks older than NTR and the other (Karthika) looks taller than him. It’s better to talk less about them.
Casting: Abhinaya as elder sister to NTR is a complete misfit. She looked much younger than the protogonist.
Fights: Few sequences lacked the intensity and powerfulness to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Screenplay: Poor screenplay in second half played spoil sport.
Logical Errors: 1) In one of the scenes (mud fight) before climax, NTR pledges to kill all his rivals (‘Kotha Modalaindhi, Ratha Rasina Devudu Vachina Apaledu’). But in climax, NTR preaches the value of life and the importance of non-violence. 2) After NTR’s brother-in-law Venu’s death, the servant asks the protogonist to stay away from their village to avoid further massacres (which was not necessary). In the very next scene, NTR was seen waiting for villains and follows the violent mud fight.
Hero’s father character: Suman’s character was not etched well. Showing him in a powerful role in the flashback could have elevated the film. His re-entry in Second Half after locking himself behind closed doors for several years is not justified.
Climax: The fight with the baddies looked completely one-sided, lacking the required punch. Most importantly, the sudden change in villain’s stand is hard to believe.
Director: Boyapati looked like a man with full of OVER-confidence (the same affected the outcome). His interviews before the release and his appearance in the 1st frame of film shows that the success of ‘Simha’ has gone to his head.

Balakrishna Big plans for Adhinayakudu !

Share

Postponing of a release date for a couple of times is okay, but testing patience for months is not advisable even if it is from a star hero. But the plans of ‘Adhinayaykudu’ are aimed at catching something else, reveals a source.
This latest film of Nandamuri hero Balakrishna is taking much longer time than expected to hit theatres. As Balayya is not interfering, we feel that he has ‘tikka’, but there is a ‘lekka’ behind it. Insiders revealed that he is not opening mouth about the delay only to postpone the release date till polls hit AP. Sources are saying that ‘Adhinayakudu’ will be releasing just a day before by-polls, to raise the craze for Balayya that in turn helps people to stamp votes for Telugudesam.
Even in the film, this celebrity face of TDP is heard doing a couple of roles with political touch that voice for the poor people of state. Though there is delay in the release of this flick, this seems to be a ‘master plan’ to cash on the patience of fans. But, this is looking good on paper, will it works in reality?

Chandra Babu’s big blow to NTR !

Share

There were several reports in media about the rifts between Nara and Nandamuri family. There were evident examples of the rift yesterday on the occasion of NTR’s Dammu movie release. Telugu Desam Party called for a district wide bandh in Krishna district which severely affected the collections on day 1. Morning shows were either stalled or ran late at several places in the district. Due to which, Dammu lost 10-15 Lakhs share and also NTR lost the chance to get an all time record in the district with that.
NTR is reportedly very furious about CBN’s action and is reportedly waiting for a chance to take revenge.

Hindi ‘Heroine’ Is Telugu Heroine’s Story!?

Share
Bollywood is now on the spree of looking South, whether it is to get remake rights or inspiration for original stories. After ‘Dirty Picture’, one picture that is creating vibes in the tinsel town is Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’.
Unlike Silk Smitha’s life story, there are stories of some talented and glamorous Telugu heroines that are more pitiable. One among them is the story of veteran actress Kanchana. This Telugu woman is an air hostess before she turned to films in the 60s with forcing from her parents. From performance oriented de-glam roles to sexy glam kick, she played a variety of roles with versatility. Later in her career, she suddenly disappeared from the tinsel town after her own parents took her complete hard earned wealth.
She fought a legal battle for years and donated the whole property she had won in court to Tirumala before retiring to a simple life in a small apartment. Sources revealed that Mahdur’s ‘Heroine’ draws inspiration from this story and later on added few more twists by mixing the real story of another gorgeous diva, Sridevi. Ravishing actress Kareena Kapoor is playing the lead role in this movie after Aishwarya Rai opted out due to her pregnancy.

Deeksha Seth upset with Ravi Teja

Share
Though it is not discussed in the open, the cine folks reveal that most of the heroines bag offers in big heroes projects only through high recommendation from the male lead. Till recently, it was being gossiped that Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja was doing all he can to promote the enchanting seductress Deeksha Seth.
However, it is now heard that Deeksha is miffed with Ravi Teja. Well, the buzz is that she has not been getting her due attention like before and sources say Ravi Teja seems to be focusing on the milky thigh beauty Taapsee. As it is, Deeksha has been trying hard to make her presence felt as she has not scored a single hit so far.
But sources close to Ravi Teja quashed all this as a rumour. They revealed that the Mass Maharaja is in his own tensions as none of his films have been working at the box office so where will he have the time to promote other heroines. Let us hope this is true and all is well between Ravi and Deeksha.

Dammu comes out as Violent Sentimental Drama

Share
Jr.NTR’s much awaited movie of the season, Dammu, has hit theaters today and here goes the first day first show talk.
Punch dialogues and high range emotions are part this much hyped movie as expected by the audience. NTR’s comic timing, dialogue delivery and songs to some extent, make fans go merry. But, the film lacks an overall appeal with predictable plot and not so interesting screenplay. Director Boyapati carried the whole movie with emotion sans logic. Like NTR says in the movie about his fights, ‘Arachakam’, it is doing the same thing with normal cine audience. Many scenes remind us of Rajamouli’s Simhadri and Chatrapathi sequences but lack a full throttle impact. On the other hand fans are jubilant for this mass ‘Adbutham’ created by Junior and Boyapati. It is whistles and claps across all theatres in AP on first day.
Collections of this movie depend entirely on fans and masses, while family audience may not evince interest for this violent sentimental drama. For more analysis of ‘Dammu’, read our review!

Lakshmi Manchu! Good Producer Or Actor?

Share
Say it her style of uttering Telugu dialogues or giving animated expressions, Lakshmi Prasanna Manchu has her own style in many ways. A debate is going on in Film Nagar whether she will become a good producer or an actor!
Lakshmi has that prowess to deliver stunning performance and that is witnessed through Irendri character in ‘Anaganaga O Dheerudu’. Anyways, being a celebrity’s daughter, one can get opportunities easily and if ‘hits’ fall in place, career will automatically escalates. Coming to her production ventures, these are the days any person can produce films if they have enough bucks in their pockets. They say producing a few chat shows and films is not a big deal, but distributing the movies and planning their release timing is the thing one should look out.
Moreover, Lakshmi failed in this aspect, as none of her production ventures including ‘Nenu Meeku Telusa’ and ‘Jhummandi Naadam’ failed to recover investments despite getting a decent talk. Currently she is acting in Maniratnam’s ‘Kadal’ and ‘Gundello Godari’, while the latter one is her production venture too.

Ram Charan wishes All the Best Jr NTR for Dammu!

Share
Well, if you have thought that Ram Charan attending NTR’s Badshah launch was just a coincidence and then driving NTR to Charan’s home is pure formality, think again. Why because this friendship is not a formal one. Ram Charan proved that Tarak (NTR) is his best friend by wishing him luck for Dammu movie on social networking website, Twitter.
“Wishin my friends tarak and trisha.. All the best!!! I heard tarak’s performance was intense. GRT goin guys..,” Ram Charan tweeted to Nandamuri fans delight. It came in as a surprise to mega fans even. They have heard of Chiranjeevi appreciating NTR and Mahesh Babu on their successes. But this is entirely a new experience.
This is even surprising as Charan’s recent movie Racha took digs at Nandamuri heroes ‘thigh-slapping’ habit. NTR has hit his thigh hard in the movie Dammu too. Let’s not dig into that anymore and should happily welcome this change in this generation heroes. Hope Charan and NTR do a film together soon.

Lawrence taking Dil Raju’s help in selling Rebel !

Share
The name of Lawrence is doing rounds in Film Nagar from a long time for his ‘paithyam’ regarding Prabhas’ upcoming movie. Despite of breaking the coconut, the film is taking more and more days for completion.
Lawrence is saying each shooting day as the last day for the shoot of ‘Rebel’, but the movie is still not completing. A unit member revealed that the movie will take at least a month more to complete. Recently, Russian fighters are roped in to film a climax fight. Lawrence took this decision after seeing ‘Racha’ fight with Chinese fighters, the source adds. With the fear of distributors running away from this big budgeted movie for the exorbitant price quoted, Lawrence is now using Dil Raju.
This mega producer of Tollywood is made to bag the rights of ‘Rebel’ for Nizam, with a belief that other distributors will blindly follow him to buy this dance master’s product. Insiders say that Dil Raju lost his credibility after selling ‘Oh My Friend’ at a hiked price and his magic won’t work for Prabhas. Anyway, we have to wait till July to know the reality of ‘Rebel’ and Lawrence.

Young Heroines Giving Tips To Balayya

Share
Balayya’s trumpet is not getting blown these days with his ‘Adhinayakudu’ tangled in a crisis. However, his recent looks and freshness on face are sending positive vibes to fans.
Balakrishna is coming up very soon with his ‘Srimannarayana’ under the direction of Ravi Chavali. Sources revealed that irrespective of ‘Adhinayakudu’ release, this film will hit screens in a couple of months. Reports say that Balayya is looking a bit young in this film to match the likes of heroines Isha Chawla and Parvathi Melton. Both these slender waist beauties, alongside Balayya, are looking like a perfect match.
Well, no one knows the magic behind these looks, but they say our young girls are competing with each other to give beauty tips to Balayya to make him look younger. If you take a look at his last half dozen movies, all the heroines acting beside him look pretty old with ‘aunty’ face cuts. Let us see what magic Isha and Parvathi babes do for Balayya at Box Office.

Allu Arjun watches Dammu on Day 1

Share
The rift between Mega family and Nandamuri families is well known but all these differences could not stop Allu Arjun watching NTR’s Dammu. That too on the second premiere in Dubai on the opening day. Allu Arjun is in Dubai to shoot songs for his latest movie, Julayi. Even though, he shot for the entire day, he made it free to watch the movie. He sat through the entire movie composed even though fans went on a rage to the high voltage scenes in the movie.
Few Telugu people there tried to take his opinion on the movie. However, he left the theater silently after the movie with out speaking to any one.
