Google India Legal Head Bijoya Roy Steps Down Amid Regulatory Challenges

Share

Google is facing a key leadership exit in India as its legal head Bijoya Roy has stepped down after just 16 months in the role. While Roy has cited personal reasons for her departure, reports suggest she may soon launch her own venture.

Her resignation comes at a crucial time for Google in India, where the company is navigating multiple regulatory and legal challenges. Adding to the concern, Google currently does not have a dedicated government relations head, leaving a gap in its leadership structure during a sensitive phase.

The tech giant is already dealing with several issues in the country, including antitrust cases, scrutiny over AI training data, and compliance with new content takedown rules that came into effect in February. Roy’s exit, therefore, is being seen as a significant development amid these ongoing pressures.

Bijoya Roy joined Google India as Head of Legal in November 2024 and brings nearly two decades of experience in the legal field. Over the years, she has held key positions at companies like Tata Housing, Asian Paints, Kodak, and spent close to a decade with Thomson Reuters across London and Dubai. In 2019, she joined Flipkart as Vice President and Group General Counsel before moving to Google.

So far, Roy has not issued an official statement regarding her resignation, and Google has also not publicly commented on the development.

This is not an isolated case, as Google has seen other high-profile exits in India recently. Its head of public policy, Sreenivasa Reddy, stepped down last year, and that position remains vacant.

For a company that considers India a critical market, the absence of senior legal and policy leadership could pose challenges in handling regulatory matters and maintaining smooth operations going forward.

Saudi Arabia Offers Visa Relief Amid Travel Disruptions

Share

Saudi Arabia has introduced a temporary relief measure for travellers and residents whose visas expired due to recent regional disruptions. The move offers a flexible window for affected individuals to either extend their stay or exit the country without facing penalties.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the decision applies to holders of visit visas, Umrah visas, transit visas, and final exit permits that expired on or after February 26, 2026. Many individuals were unable to leave the country on time due to ongoing travel disruptions.

Under the new guidelines, visa holders have two options. They can apply for an extension of their stay through the Absher platform by paying the required fees. This option will be available until April 18, 2026. Alternatively, they can choose to leave Saudi Arabia through international ports without renewing their visas or paying any overstay fines.

Authorities stated that the initiative is aimed at easing difficulties faced by travellers while ensuring compliance with regulations. It also helps maintain smoother travel operations across borders during a period of disruption.

Overall, the measure provides much-needed relief by offering flexibility to those impacted, ensuring they are not penalised for circumstances beyond their control.

American Dream Fades as Indians Rethink US Plans

Share

For decades, the United States was seen as the ultimate dream destination for Indian students and professionals. An American degree, a job in Silicon Valley, and a future built on dollars once defined success. However, that dream is now beginning to lose some of its shine as more Indians rethink their plans or quietly return home.

One of the biggest reasons behind this shift is the growing uncertainty around the US immigration system. The journey from a student visa to OPT, then to an H-1B, and eventually a green card has become increasingly stressful and unpredictable. The H-1B process still depends on a lottery, and even those who secure jobs do not feel guaranteed long-term stability. Delays, stricter scrutiny, and changing policies have only added to the anxiety, making many question whether the risk is truly worth it.

At the same time, the job market—especially in technology and white-collar sectors—has become less reliable. For years, Indian students believed that a US degree would naturally lead to a well-paying job, but that assumption no longer holds true. Layoffs, hiring freezes, and cost-cutting measures have changed the landscape. Even those already working in the US now live with the constant fear that losing a job could trigger visa issues and force them to leave the country unexpectedly.

The financial burden has also increased significantly. Tuition fees, rent, healthcare, and daily living expenses in the US have risen sharply. For many middle-class Indian families, studying or settling there now requires a much bigger financial gamble. When combined with uncertain job prospects, the return on investment becomes questionable, prompting students to explore alternatives in India, Europe, and other parts of Asia.

What has changed just as much is India itself. Returning home is no longer seen as a fallback option but increasingly as a smart and strategic choice. India now offers a growing startup ecosystem, strong digital infrastructure, expanding global capability centres, and a large market for innovation. In sectors like AI, fintech, consulting, and digital commerce, opportunities are becoming more accessible and rewarding.

Perhaps the most significant change is in mindset. The American Dream, once associated with certainty and upward mobility, is now often linked with uncertainty, long waiting periods, and emotional stress. While the US continues to offer world-class education, strong salaries, and leading research opportunities, it is no longer viewed as the only path to success.

The dream is not completely gone, but it is clearly evolving. Indians today are more open to multiple paths and are making decisions based on practicality rather than perception. That shift in thinking may be the clearest sign yet that the old idea of the American Dream is slowly fading.

Anirudh–Kavya Maran Link-Up Rumours Resurface After Viral Video

Share

Music sensation Anirudh Ravichander had firmly put an end to marriage rumours last year, clearly stating that he had no plans to tie the knot anytime soon. His statement helped calm the speculation back then, allowing fans to focus on his successful professional journey.

However, his personal life has once again come under the spotlight following recent developments. A viral video circulating on social media allegedly shows Anirudh spending time with Kavya Maran in New York. The clip quickly grabbed attention, reigniting discussions about their relationship.

Although neither Anirudh nor Kavya has responded to the video, fans have been quick to speculate, connecting the dots and fueling fresh rumours. Adding to this, wedding buzz has once again picked up—especially across Tamil media—despite no official confirmation.

Social media is now flooded with mixed reactions. While some fans are excited about the possibility, others remain skeptical, pointing out the lack of concrete evidence. The silence from both sides has only added to the curiosity, allowing speculation to grow stronger.

With the buzz intensifying, all eyes are now on Anirudh and Kavya for an official clarification that could finally put an end to these ongoing rumours.

Aditya Dhar’s Smart Move Pays Big with Dhurandhar Franchise Success

Share

Indian cinema has witnessed one of its biggest blockbusters in the form of “Dhurandhar.” The first installment had already crossed the ₹1000 crore mark globally, and the recently released second part matched that feat within just a week of its release.

With both parts combined, the Dhurandhar franchise has now amassed around ₹2000 crore worldwide, and the total is expected to rise further as the second part continues its strong theatrical run.

Amid this massive success, discussions have shifted toward the financial side of the project—particularly the smart move made by director Aditya Dhar. Beyond his directorial skills, Aditya made a strategic decision by also coming on board as a co-producer of the film.

This move significantly changes the financial equation. Instead of earning just a fixed remuneration as a director, Aditya now stands to gain a substantial share of the film’s overall revenues. Given the franchise’s ₹2000 crore+ earnings and counting, the profit share from such a massive success could be extremely rewarding.

While the exact figures and profit margins have not been publicly disclosed, industry estimates suggest that Aditya Dhar could potentially earn several hundred crores from the project. This highlights how his decision to co-produce the film has turned out to be both creatively and financially rewarding.

In an industry where directors often rely on fixed paychecks, this approach reflects a smart and forward-thinking strategy—making Aditya Dhar not just a successful filmmaker, but also a savvy player in the business side of cinema.

Rushya Datta Impresses in Stylish First Look of Don Bosko

Young and promising actor Rushya Datta steps into the limelight as the lead in the upcoming comedy entertainer “Don Bosko.” As the brother-in-law of noted producer Naga Vamsi, Rushya is all set to make a strong impression with a role that presents him in a stylish and intriguing avatar.

The recently unveiled first look features Rushya in a confident pose, holding a katana and radiating charisma. The striking visual, along with a caption hinting at themes of redemption and reunions, has sparked curiosity about both his character and the film’s storyline.

The movie has already wrapped up its shoot, and the team is now preparing for the next phase of promotions. Mirnaa Menon plays the female lead, while Murali Sharma takes on a key role.

Directed by Shankar Gowri, Don Bosko also features a talented supporting cast including Mounika, Vishnu Oi, and Rajkumar Kasireddy. The music is composed by Sricharan Pakala, adding to the film’s appeal as a complete entertainer.

Rajamouli’s Varanasi Likely to Release in Two Parts

Share

S. S. Rajamouli seems to be reworking the release strategy for his ambitious project “Varanasi.” According to the latest buzz, the epic action-adventure may now be released in two parts instead of a single film.

Taking a cue from the trend of multi-part storytelling—similar to what Aditya Dhar did with the Dhurandhar franchise—Rajamouli is reportedly considering splitting the narrative to do full justice to its масштаб and depth.

Sources suggest that even a runtime exceeding three hours might not be sufficient to capture the film’s expansive storyline. A two-part format would allow the team to explore the plot in greater detail, without the usual constraints of theatrical duration.

Given Rajamouli’s penchant for grand, larger-than-life storytelling, this move comes as no surprise. His films are known for their scale and immersive narratives, often demanding more breathing space to unfold fully.

“Varanasi” features a star-studded cast including Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles, making it one of the most highly anticipated Indian films in the coming years.

As of now, the film is slated for a theatrical release on April 5, 2027. If the two-part plan materializes, “Varanasi” could turn into yet another grand cinematic spectacle crafted in true Rajamouli style.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office: Races to Top 3 in North America Collection Charts

Share

Dhurandhar 2, also titled “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” continues its strong run at the box office with no signs of slowing down. Despite facing stiff competition in the North American market, the Ranveer Singh-starrer spy-action thriller remains one of the most preferred choices among audiences.

The film has now surpassed the lifetime collection of “Kalki 2898 AD” and has emerged as the third highest-grossing Indian film in North America. This impressive performance was largely anticipated following the massive success of the first installment, Dhurandhar.

According to early estimates, Dhurandhar 2 collected around $855K on Day 9, and is expected to close its second Friday with a total in the range of $1.2 million to $1.3 million+ in North America. With this momentum, the film’s cumulative earnings in the region have reached approximately $19 million as of Friday early shows.

The box office trend has been exceptional, and if the current pace continues, the film is likely to surpass the lifetime total of its predecessor, Dhurandhar ($20.65 million), even before the end of its second weekend.

At present, the list of highest-grossing Indian films in North America is led by “Baahubali 2” with $22 million, followed by Dhurandhar with $20.65 million. Dhurandhar 2 now holds the third position with $19 million in just 9 days, pushing Kalki 2898 AD ($18.57 million) to fourth place, while Pathaan stands fifth with $17.49 million.

Kaattaan Review: Vijay Sethupathi’s Rural Mystery Thriller Now Streaming on JioHotstar

Share

The series “Muthu alias Kaattaan” premiered digitally on JioHotstar on March 27, 2026. Created by M. Manikandan, this rural crime thriller unfolds across 10 episodes, blending mystery, drama, and layered storytelling.

The story opens with a shocking incident in a village—the discovery of a severed head with an eerie smile on its face. What makes the case even more unsettling is that the local police station, which is on the verge of closure, is suddenly forced back into action as the unusual murder investigation begins.

As the probe deepens, the police identify the victim as Muthu, played by Vijay Sethupathi. Sub-Inspector Siddharthan (Muthukumar) and Thangamudi (Singampuli) take charge of the case and begin investigating his past. However, what they uncover only deepens the mystery.

Muthu appears to have lived multiple lives—he is described at different times as an elephant mahout, a watch repairer, an orphanage caretaker, and even a driver for a dance troupe. Despite these varied identities, he is also said to have been financially well-off and known for helping people in the village.

This raises the central question of the series—who killed Muthu, and what was the truth behind his many identities?

The series has received praise for its unique premise, rural setting, and strong performances, especially from Vijay Sethupathi. However, some viewers felt that the narrative unfolds at a slow pace, making it a typical slow-burn thriller.

While the storytelling and performances have been appreciated, a section of the audience also felt the 10-episode format could have been tighter and more engaging in parts.

Despite its pacing issues, “Kaattaan” remains a compelling watch for fans of slow-burn mystery dramas with layered narratives.

The series is available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali, and is streaming exclusively on JioHotstar.
