Indian Student Missing in Berkeley; Consulate Joins Search Efforts

Share

The Consulate General of India in San Francisco has expressed deep concern over the disappearance of 22-year-old Indian student Saketh Sreenivasaiah, as local authorities intensify search operations in the East Bay area.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Consulate General of India, San Francisco said it is “deeply concerned” about the disappearance of the Indian post-graduate student from the University of California, Berkeley, who hails from Karnataka. The Consulate confirmed that it is in touch with Saketh’s family and is coordinating closely with local authorities to help locate him.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, a search operation is currently underway near Lake Anza. Saketh was last seen on Tuesday in the 1700 block of Dwight Way, near McGee Avenue. Police noted that he was reportedly distressed over a personal relationship prior to his disappearance.

His backpack, containing his passport and laptop, was later found on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighborhood adjacent to Tilden Regional Park. Authorities are working in coordination with the East Bay Regional Park District to continue search efforts in the surrounding areas.

Law enforcement officials have urged community members to come forward with any information that may assist in locating him.

Saketh is pursuing a Master’s degree in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department at UC Berkeley. He previously completed his undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, one of India’s premier engineering institutions.

The case has drawn attention from the Indian diplomatic mission in the United States, with officials maintaining close coordination with authorities and the student’s family as search efforts continue.

Funky Falters with Dialogue Overload and Weak Narrative

Share

Some films exhaust the audience emotionally, while others do so mentally. In Funky, director Anudeep appears to overwhelm viewers not with complexity, but with an overload of dialogue that rarely pauses to breathe. Critic GR Maharshi examines how this relentless stream of conversations gradually drains the viewing experience instead of enhancing it.

A key observation is that most of the film’s effective one-liners were already showcased in the teaser and trailer. As a result, the theatrical experience offers little freshness or surprise, making several scenes feel repetitive rather than entertaining.

The discussion also revisits how Jathi Ratnalu benefited from its unique release timing during the COVID phase, when audiences were eager for lighthearted entertainment. That success formula, however, doesn’t seem to translate to Funky, where the humor feels stretched and less organic.

Another significant drawback highlighted is the presence of multiple irrelevant characters. Their motivations, arcs, and narrative contributions remain unclear, creating confusion instead of strengthening the story. Rather than supporting the central plot, these characters dilute its impact.

The critic also questions the director’s on-screen appearance and what that character genuinely adds to the narrative. Instead of serving a meaningful purpose, it appears to further complicate an already cluttered screenplay.

Most strikingly, the review wonders how the project reached theatres without being reconsidered or refined further during production. In the end, Funky becomes an example of how excessive writing, without tight structure and purpose, can weigh down even the most promising comedic premise.

Pragya Jaiswal turned heads as she graced the event in a sleeveless designer black gown featuring a striking one-shoulder drop, perfectly blending classic elegance with a modern edge. Her glowing skin shimmered under the lights, while her sensuous expressions added a touch of dramatic charm, making every frame look like a high-fashion moment.

The sculpted fit of the gown accentuated her statuesque presence, and her confident poise elevated the ensemble into a statement of refined glamour. Minimal styling ensured that the silhouette and her natural radiance took center stage, reaffirming why Pragya remains a favorite for photographers and fashion enthusiasts alike.

On the work front, Pragya is well-known to Telugu audiences as Balakrishna’s heroine, having been last seen in Daaku Maharaj and Akhanda. She is now gearing up for her upcoming release, Tyson Naidu, a project that has already generated significant excitement among her fans.

Tamannaah Set to Dazzle in Bold Ragini MMS 3 Role

Share

Tamannaah has clearly decided to break all limits. She had earlier stated that if one sits quietly with restrictions, no one will even notice. Living up to that philosophy, she recently went all out in a web series, surprising audiences with her fearless performance.

The actress openly admitted that she had lost several opportunities in the past because she refused to do kissing scenes. But now, she has changed her approach and has even performed lip-kiss scenes recently. Taking things a step further, the “Milky Beauty” is now set to star in a full-on sensual film.

In Bollywood, the Ragini MMS series has carved out a distinct fan base. Not just for horror, the franchise is also known for setting benchmarks in bold romance. Now, the franchise is returning with its third installment, Ragini MMS 3, with Tamannaah in the lead role. Producer Ekta Kapoor has officially announced the project.

Described as a “date-night horror” film, the story revolves around a hero and heroine who go on a romantic outing, only to face unexpected and shocking events. Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, plays the male lead.

The first Ragini MMS was a major hit, while Ragini MMS 2 created a nationwide sensation. Sunny Leone starred in the second part, and that single film skyrocketed her career. Now, Tamannaah is stepping into the franchise, and early buzz suggests that the romantic and bold sequences will be even more intense this time. While Ekta Kapoor hasn’t directly commented on the specifics, the message is loud and clear: Ragini MMS 3 is set to push boundaries.

Varanasi: Mahesh Babu’s Epic with SS Rajamouli Set to Break Records

Share

After delivering global blockbusters like the Baahubali franchise and RRR, ace filmmaker S S Rajamouli is gearing up for his next cinematic spectacle, Varanasi. Expectations are sky-high as he prepares to present Mahesh Babu in what is being described as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema.

Over the years, actors like Prabhas, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan have delivered career-defining performances under Rajamouli’s direction. Now, audiences are eagerly waiting to see Mahesh Babu unleash a new avatar on the big screen.

Mounted on a massive scale, Varanasi carries enormous expectations at the Indian box office. The epic action-adventure has been in development for a long time, and the ground-level buzz is unmistakable. Rajamouli’s reputation for crafting visually grand spectacles has only heightened curiosity.

The first glimpse of the film, released two months ago, lived up to expectations and went viral instantly, pushing pre-release hype to unprecedented levels. Scheduled for a theatrical release on April 7, Varanasi is expected to open to record-breaking numbers across India. Trade analysts believe a Day 1 net collection of around ₹150 crore is a realistic target. However, given the film’s staggering budget, a strong opening alone may not suffice to cover its massive costs.

With elements rooted in Hindu mythology, the Mahesh Babu starrer is expected to resonate strongly with Hindi-speaking audiences as well. If word of mouth turns positive, Varanasi has the potential to deliver historic box-office collections and further cement Rajamouli’s status as a global filmmaking force.

Naga Vamshi Responds to Criticism on Funky Release

Share

Producer Naga Vamshi held a press meet following the first-day, first-show of Funky, directed by Anudeep, addressing media questions about the mixed reception. Despite visible negative criticism online, Vamshi appeared confident and smiling throughout the interaction.

Responding to comments about the film’s structure, he said, “I have been saying for many weeks that we made a film with single-liners. In spite of that, netizens are commenting that it has no flow, that it looks like bits and pieces with patchy editing. When I myself said what it is much earlier, why do they write as if they made a discovery?” He added, “I didn’t say that I made a Sagara Sangamam.”

Vamshi also acknowledged the risks involved in collaborating with Anudeep, noting, “It’s always a risk making a film with Anudeep. Sometimes it may work and sometimes it may not.” He further clarified that the film was made on a limited budget, stating, “The film has no grammar of cinema. I knew that when I made it. I definitely didn’t presume that I made a film that would be liked by reviewers. Even regular viewers are commenting technically about patchy editing.”

While Vamshi’s candid remarks reflect transparency, many feel a softer, more measured tone might have resonated better with the broader Telugu audience beyond the film media. Observers suggest that, having previously delivered a successful comedy like Anaganaga Oka Raju, Vamshi could have approached this release in a way that balanced honesty with humility.
