Prashanth Neel, the acclaimed director behind the much-anticipated film ‘Salaar,’ recently expressed his disappointment with the censor board’s decisions during the film’s certification process. Despite being open to making several cuts as requested, there were specific scenes vital to the movie’s narrative that Neel was reluctant to remove, as their exclusion would significantly affect the story.

In a conversation with SS Rajamouli, known for interviewing the ‘Salaar’ team, including Prabhas, Prashanth Neel, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Neel highlighted the challenges faced during the censoring of the film.

He emphasized that while he was willing to comply with most requested edits, certain crucial shots were integral to the film’s essence. Neel clarified the reason for aiming for an ‘A’ rating, explaining that despite the movie not being vulgar, it contains essential instances of violence.

He asserted that the violence portrayed in ‘Salaar’ is necessary for the story’s portrayal and isn’t excessive or gratuitous. When discussing this with Prabhas, the lead actor, Prashanth Neel was advised to opt for an ‘A’ certificate by Prabhas himself, considering the importance of these scenes to the narrative.

Overall, Prashanth Neel’s disappointment stemmed from the need to compromise on crucial scenes for the film’s certification, which led him to opt for an ‘A’ rating to maintain the integrity of the story despite the censor board’s requests for cuts.

The movie’s story is kept under wraps but it looks like the drama is going to be quite high. The visuals are highly attractive and the grandness can be seen throughout. Ravi Teja looks superb in the mass avatar and he seems to have pulled off this character wonderfully. Kavya Thapar is decent as the hero’s love interest while actors like Madhubala, Srinivas Avasarala, Navdeep and Anupama Parameswaran make their presence felt.

The background score elevated the trailer and Ravi Teja fans have raised the expectations over this film which has a stellar cast and top-notch technicians. Written, directed, and edited by Karthik Gattamneni, the movie has a screenplay written by the director himself, alongside Manibabu Karanam who penned the dialogues.

Supriya Yarlagadda who was seen in Sesh’s ‘Goodachari’ will be producing this flick while Annapurna Studios is presenting it. Shaneil Deo who was born and raised in the United States will be directing it. Shaneil worked as DOP for several Telugu blockbusters including ‘Kshanam’ and ‘Goodachari’. His short film ‘Layla’ was officially selected for the Cannes Film Festival. Suniel Narang is the co-producer while Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo also share story and screenplay credits. The much-awaited interview of ‘Salaar’ team with Rajamouli has finally arrived. It was an hour-long video with Rajamouli asking interesting questions and Prasanth Neel, Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran answering them. Rajamouli said that Prabhas needs to do nothing but just stand in the frame which will be enough most of the time. He added that there will be an emotion in him that can be expressed through his body. He asked Prasanth Neel about how he showed Prabhas.

The ‘KGF’ director replied that Prabhas has an innocence that can suddenly turn into rage on the screen. He wanted to show that aspect and it is how he created the character of Deva. Prabhas too sounded very enthusiastic in this interview and revealed a lot of funny incidents on the sets as well as out of the sets. He talked about how he met Prasanth Neel and talked about the director’s obsession with hair and how important is an actor like Prithviraj to this film. He even shared an incident in Italy where a foreigner recognized Prabhas and stated Rajamouli was the reason for this.

‘Salaar’ is releasing on 22nd December and Shruti Hassan is the heroine in it. Bhuvan is the cinematographer while Ravi Basrur is the music composer. Hombale Films produced this film which got an A certificate about which Prasanth Neel is not happy about.
