Director Aditya Dhar has now entered an elite league in Indian cinema. His latest film, Dhurandhar 2, is making waves at the global box office, smashing records one after another. Following a massive opening, the film has continued its dream run, becoming a blockbuster even before completing its extended 8-day opening week.
On Day 7, the film achieved a milestone by entering the ₹1,000 crore club, marking a historic achievement in record time. With this feat, Aditya Dhar joins S.S. Rajamouli’s league, delivering two ₹1,000 crore grossers worldwide in his short filmmaking career.
Dhar has built a strong reputation through his style of storytelling, blending intensity, scale, and emotion, which has earned both critical acclaim and commercial success. Despite having directed only three films so far, his impact on Indian cinema has been immense.
He made his directorial debut with Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), which was a major success and established him as a filmmaker to watch. After a brief hiatus, he returned with Dhurandhar (2025), which also became a massive critical and commercial hit, reportedly grossing ₹1,354.84 crore worldwide. Its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, joined the ₹1,000 crore club on its 7th day, collecting around ₹1,029.49 crore worldwide.
Before Aditya Dhar, S.S. Rajamouli was the only Indian filmmaker to deliver two ₹1,000 crore grossers with Baahubali 2 and RRR. Dhar now joins this rarefied list, firmly establishing himself as one of India’s biggest commercial filmmakers.
Looking ahead, directors like Atlee, Nag Ashwin, and Nitesh Tiwari are expected to join this elite club with upcoming projects like AA22, Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, and Ramayana Part 1. For now, all eyes remain on Aditya Dhar, who has made his mark as a trailblazing force in Indian cinema.
