Birthday Poster: Allu Arjun aka Pushparaj Slays It In Goddess Attire!

Share

Creative director Sukumar is beyond the imagination of the audience. After making ‘Arya’ and ‘Arya 2’ with Bunny, he decided to surprise the people by making a rustic rural drama for their hattrick film. Many expected the movie to have a powerful title but he chose to name their film ‘Pushpa’. Allu Arjun’s look as Pushpa in the first part stunned everyone. The star director dared to showcase a stylish star in the most deglamorized fashion. Despite all the mixed reactions, he believed in his instincts.

The movie was a phenomenal success and ‘Pushpa’ became a household name. The second part is in the making and the glimpse was released a while back. Sukumar designed it in such a way that everyone was keen on finding where Pushpa was and he was showcased at the end in a powerful manner. Considering the fact that Allu Arjun is a pan-Indian star, one would expect Sukumar to release a heroic poster that shows the star hero in full style and charisma.

Instead, he went for a unique poster where Allu Arjun is dressed as a goddess. It is quite common for men to dress up as local gods during festivals like Dasara, Bonalu and other local temple rituals. But it is amazing to see Allu Arjun donning this look without any hesitation and one can expect Sukumar to write a brilliant scene around this getup. With garlands and lemons around his neck, Allu Arjun pulled off this look very convincingly and both the director and actor should be commended for doing something out of the box.

The makers wished their hero and said, “If his RISE was imperious, his RULE will be epic.” This definitely raises the expectations on this movie to a whole new level. As we know, Rashmika Mandanna is the heroine in this flick while Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings are bankrolling this project. Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer. Fahadh Fasil will be seen as the antagonist while Dhanunjay, Rao Ramesh, Suneel, Anasuya Bharadwaj and others play key roles. Miroslaw Kuba Brozek is the cinematographer while Karthika Srinivas is the editor.

Meter Movie Review

Share

Just two months ago, Kiran Abbaravam’s “Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha” was released in theatres. Now, he brings another film titled “Meter”.

Let’s find out.

Story:
Arjun Kalyan (Kiran Abbavaram) is the son of a police constable. His father wishes for him to become a police officer, but Arjun dislikes the job. To please his father, he takes the SI exam and gets the job.

Even after reporting for duty, Arjun Kalyan looks for ways to get fired. Meanwhile, the actions of Home Minister Bairreddy (Dhanush Pavan) change his life.

Artistes’ Performances:
Kiran Abbavaram has played his part neatly, although there isn’t much to admire. Athulyaa is beautiful, but she is cast in a typical heroine role.

Dhanush Pavan’s performance as the villain is adequate. Saptagiri and Murali Sharma provide some laughs.

Technical Excellence:
The film’s soundtrack is ok. The song “Chammak Pori” is particularly better. The dialogue is painful to listen to. The production values and cinematography are standard fare.

Highlights:
None

Drawback:
Over the top scenes
Silly episodes
Love track
Outdate climax

Analysis
As if Kiran Abbavaram, the new director Ramesh, and the producer Cherry have made a vow not to include a single new scene in the film, “Meter” continues with sequences that remind us of many recent blockbusters.

A few fights, three or four songs, a love story, a sentiment thread, hero’s punch dialogues, and some double-meaning dialogues are common elements in regular “mass” films. “Meter,” starring Kiran Abbavaram, sticks to the formula religiously.

This film exemplifies the term “routine.” Even directors who have made a career out of making formulaic films will get a headache from watching this. We understand when a big star appears in such routine films for commercial reasons. However, seeing an upcoming actor like Kiran Abbavaram do the same thing is unbearable.

It’s embarrassing how he tries to act like a hero despite lacking their stature.

First, we see Kiran Abbavaram’s evasive maneuvers to avoid becoming a police officer, and then there’s a long episode with the hero and the heroine. She is presented as a girl who carries an acid bottle and despises men. But within a few scenes, she’s already madly in love with the hero and dances with him. No logic, no sense. In the later part, the film focuses on the hero and the home minister. This episode also lacks any engagement.

Kiran Abbavaram’s sole commercial success was the father-son themed ‘SR Kalyana Mandapam’. The sentiment theme attempted again to recapture the original’s success, but it falls flat. Many scenes put our patience to the test.

Overall, “Meter” is one of the lousiest films made in recent years. There isn’t a single redeeming feature in the film. You will get a headache if you go to the theater unprepared.

Bottom line: Needs a thermoMETER

Ravanasura Movie Review

Share

Ravi Teja gained form after scoring two hit films in recent months. Hence, his new film “Ravanasura” attracted attention. Furthermore, the director, Sudheer Varma, is known for producing good thrillers, and the production company is well-known.

Let’s analyze.

Story:
Ravindra (Ravi Teja) is an associate at the law firm run by Kanaka Mahalaxmi (Faria Abdullah). Kanaka declines to represent Harika (Megha Akash), but Ravindra begs her to take up the case as he is in love with Harika.

On the other hand, there is a string of murders. The murders follow a pattern, which a police officer (Jayaram) and his assistant Ruha (Pujitha) uncover. It doesn’t take long for them to figure out that Ravindra is performing them and evading capture by donning the identities of other people.

Ravindra abducts Saketh’s (Sushanth) girlfriend and blackmails him into creating prosthetic faces. Why does Ravindra seem to be randomly killing people? How come he’s become a Ravana?

Artistes’ Performances:
Ravi Teja gets to show off the dark side of his acting chops in this scene. With all his skill, he plays the complex character with two distinct sides very well. Despite the many other actors in the film, it is unquestionably his show.

Sushanth’s job entails little more than making prosthetics and not much else. Although he tries his hardest, Jayaram’s character doesn’t come across as a credible high-ranking police officer.

Hyper Adhi delivers his usual one-liners. Rao Ramesh has a superficial role, and his Telangana diction is also bad.

Megha Akash, Faria Abdullah, Daksha Nagarkar, and Pujitha Ponnada all have a presence, but they aren’t given much scope to act. Megha Akash’s role is the best among them. She also has a dual-shaded role. There is only one substantial scene for Pujitha Ponnada in the film. Anu Emmanuel gets a junior artiste role.

Technical Excellence:
The cinematography is the noticeable feature among the technical work. Songs are neither catchy, nor do they make any impact. The remix song filmed on Ravi Teja and Megha Akash is also not effective. The story and screenplay is clumsy.

Highlights:
Ravi Teja’s acting
Sequence before the interval

Drawback:
Logic-less scenes
Clumsy narrative
No suspense
Predictable ending

Analysis
Although Srikanth Vissa was given credit for the story, it was actually adapted from the Bengali film “Vinci Da”. The Bengali film was very effective. The premise of the Bengali film was changed drastically by Srikanth Vissa and director Sudheer Varma, who also introduced an absurd conflict. The narrative is not effective.

Sudheer Varma made an effort to add “entertaining elements” to this suspenseful story. Therefore, we get to see Ravi Teja’s comedy scenes with Faria Abdullah, Megha Akash, and Hyper Adhi for over half an hour in the beginning. However, instead of laughter, they bring on boredom. The director and writer have abandoned all sense of logic at this point.

The second half includes a pivotal turn that has to do with Megha Akash. It’s puzzling how she could have “romanced” him into taking over her legal case. Hero Ravi Teja needed a heroine to sing and dance with, so the writers and director wrote this ‘romantic part’ forgetting about the logic and the plot twist in the second half. This shows how poor the writing in this film is.

The only time the film captures our attention is just before the intermission. The revelation of Ravi Teja’s other side is interesting.

The big reveal in the film is formulaic. The title “Ravanasura” makes sense because Ravi Teja commits crimes under various guises, but the hero’s motive doesn’t convince us.

Instead of presenting it as a dark thriller, Sudheer Varma tried to present it as a mass thriller, and the logic has gone completely out the window.

All in all, “Ravanasura” holds our interest in a couple of scenes, but it is weighed down by its own illogical plot twists and poor narrative. It neither thrills us nor entertains us.

Bottom line: No Thrill

Janhvi Kapoor Gears Up for Another Pan-India Project

Share

Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of the late actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, has made her mark in Bollywood with her performances, although she hasn’t yet had a blockbuster hit.

However, the young actress has now set her sights on Tollywood, the Telugu film industry, with her upcoming project NTR30 opposite superstar NTR. The launch of the film, directed by Koratala Siva, was a star-studded affair, and Janhvi expressed her excitement at being a part of such a prestigious project.

The film will be released in a pan-India range, and the music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

If NTR30 turns out to be a hit, it could open up many doors for Janhvi in Tollywood. There are already reports that Boney Kapoor is working on a second Telugu film, which will be produced by Dil Raju.

Although it’s not confirmed whether Janhvi will star in the film, preparations are underway. Janhvi is reportedly keen to work on a pan-India project, which would give her a chance to reach out to audiences across the country, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

It remains to be seen who Janhvi will be paired opposite in her second Telugu film, but with her talent and her father’s support, there’s no doubt that she has a bright future ahead of her in the film industry.

Why Is Allu Aravind Silent About ‘Balagam’ Success?

Share

There is a good culture in Tollywood where industry folks usually celebrate each other’s success. We usually see veteran producers like Allu Aravind felicitating people who made special films that brought a lot of praise and recognition. We have seen arranging parties when movies like ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’ and ‘Mahanati’ became successful. He heaps praises on those movies and encourages the new talent without any ego or pride.

Recently, a small film ‘Balagam’ achieved phenomenal success. Dil Raju produced this film and Venu Yeldandi directed it. Apart from wonderful collections, the movie received a lot of praise and appreciation from all over. Some industry folks have already congratulated the team and Chiranjeevi himself invited them to ‘Bholaa Shankar’ sets and felicitated them. Manchi Mohan Babu and others too did the same.

But Allu Aravind who stands first in the list when it comes to encouraging such good films has remained silent over ‘Balagam’. He did not felicitate them as usual and insiders say that there is a strong reason for it. Recently, Vijay Deverakonda and Parasuram announced a project under their combination and Dil Raju is producing this film. They delivered a blockbuster like ‘Geetha Govindham’ before and it was under the GA2 Pictures banner. Parasuram reportedly worked on the script under Allu Aravind’s banner and Dil Raju is said to have hijacked the project which did not make the veteran happy. Disappointed with this, he decided to stay away from celebrating ‘Balagam’ success as Raju produced it. Looks like all is not well between these two big shots.

Is It Pawan Kalyan Or Harish Shankar?

Share

Fans of Power star Pawan Kalyan were all over the social media on Friday and Saturday ever since Harish Shankar & Co announced ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’. There were even complaints that Mythri Movie Makers did not announce this news whilst focusing a lot on ‘Pushpa 2’. The shooting started in the morning and the production team made an announcement at the night revealing Pawan’s arrival. This led to a lot of debate on social media.

The movie’s unit felt that the fans were disappointed with the posters they released. The main issue started since then as people were split about who is exactly in the poster. Some fans say that it is Pawan Kalyan while some say that it is director Harish Shankar himself.

Previously, Harish Shankar wore the police uniform and appeared as Pawan in a silhouette shot for ‘Gabbar Singh’ back in 2012. Many claim that it was Harish once again who turned back and sat on the chair in the recently released poster of ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’. We need to wait and see if the makers really did that or its just the assumptions of netizens.

As we know, Mythri Movie Makers are producing this movie while Devi Sri Prasad who gave blockbuster albums like ‘Jalsa’, ‘Gabbar Singh’ and ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ to Pawan Kalyan is working on the music. Ayanka Bose is the cinematographer while Anand Sai is the production designer.
