Director Maruthi has shared intriguing details about his upcoming big-budget film The RajaSaab, starring Prabhas, revealing that the movie will present the star in a refreshingly different avatar. Speaking in an interview with manatelugu, Maruthi described the film as a horror fantasy entertainer, a sharp departure from Prabhas’s recent action-heavy roles.

According to the director, audiences will witness Prabhas’s fun-loving and jovial side, reminiscent of his performances in Darling and Mirchi. This tonal shift is expected to surprise Pan-India fans who have grown accustomed to seeing the actor in intense, larger-than-life action roles in recent years.

Maruthi revealed that The RajaSaab initially began as a small-scale horror comedy. However, once Prabhas came on board, the project expanded significantly in scale and vision. The narrative evolved into a full-fledged horror fantasy set in a unique cinematic world. A key portion of the film unfolds in a hypnosis-based fantasy zone, where characters experience bizarre hallucinations and unsettling realities. The ghosts, too, break conventional norms, with some appearing in unusual forms such as smoke and abstract entities.

Visual effects play a crucial role in the storytelling. The film features extensive CGI, including wild animals and a massive monster that appears during the climax. With a background in animation, Maruthi personally designed several of the visual elements. Thousands of VFX shots were meticulously planned using storyboards and mock shoots to ensure smooth execution during production.

One of the film’s biggest highlights is its nearly 40-minute-long climax, which reportedly took close to 70 days to shoot. Maruthi described it as one of the most unique endings in recent cinema, adding that Prabhas himself considers the climax his favorite part of the film.

The director also disclosed that he spent almost a year developing the script. While the initial version exceeded three and a half hours, the final cut has been trimmed to under three hours to maintain a tight narrative pace. Elaborate special sets, detailed lighting, and moving elements were designed to elevate the fantasy atmosphere.

Promising a complete theatrical experience filled with humor, emotion, and stunning visuals, Maruthi is confident that The RajaSaab will appeal to a wide audience. The film is slated for a grand Sankranti release, setting the stage for a festive box-office spectacle.
