Jagan Warns Against Medical Colleges Privatisation
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has adopted an aggressive stance against the proposed privatisation of medical colleges that were established during his tenure as Chief Minister. Jagan has categorically stated that he will not accept the privatisation of these institutions under any circumstances.
He has warned that if the YSRCP returns to power, all such medical colleges will be brought back under complete government control. As part of his campaign against privatisation, the party has reportedly collected more than one crore signatures across Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan has now given the go-ahead to submit copies of these signatures from the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli to the Governor’s office. Addressing a meeting of party leaders later, he issued another strong warning against the move.
Terming the privatisation of medical colleges a “mega scam,” Jagan accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led government of indulging in large-scale corruption without hesitation. He alleged that the government is not only handing over the medical colleges to private entities but is also planning to pay their salaries using public funds.
According to Jagan, the government has decided to spend nearly ₹120 crore per year per medical college from the state exchequer. Questioning the rationale behind the decision, he asked whether there could be a bigger scam than diverting public money to privately run institutions.
Jagan also warned that those responsible would be held accountable and that a strong lesson would be taught to Chandrababu Naidu in the future. Following his remarks, discussions have reportedly begun over who would be willing to take up the development of the medical colleges under the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Dhurandhar Creates History with Record Netflix Deal

According to industry sources, Dhurandhar has sold its digital streaming rights for approximately ₹285 crore, making it the highest-ever Netflix deal for a Hindi film to date. Earlier, Pushpa 2 held the record with an estimated OTT valuation of around ₹275 crore, which Dhurandhar has now surpassed to create a new milestone.
The staggering deal underscores the film’s strong demand even before the completion of its theatrical run. Netflix’s willingness to invest such a hefty amount reflects its confidence in the film’s wide reach and long-term audience appeal.
Alongside the OTT buzz, Dhurandhar is also performing exceptionally well in theatres. As per Sacnilk, the film has registered the biggest second-week collection in Hindi cinema, surpassing the previous record held by Pushpa 2. Notably, it achieved this feat within just five days.

Nara Lokesh’s “Big Reveal” Teases ET Award for Naidu
An announcement posted by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday morning created curiosity among netizens after he teased a “BIG REVEAL” scheduled for 12 noon on social media platform X.
“When governance reforms speak louder than slogans, recognition follows. A highly respected award. A formidable jury. Which award is this? Guess who won? BIG REVEAL at 12 noon…” Lokesh tweeted, a post that was widely circulated across television channels and digital media, sparking speculation about the nature of the announcement.
Many assumed it would be an award conferred on the Telugu Desam Party-led government—possibly one like the annual Skoch Awards. It was also widely expected that the recognition would go to either Lokesh himself or his father, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Observers noted that Lokesh would not have built such suspense if the award were meant for Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan or another cabinet colleague.
When the much-anticipated reveal finally came at noon, it failed to surprise many. Lokesh announced that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had been conferred the prestigious “Business Reformer of the Year” award by The Economic Times, India’s leading business publication. The award was said to recognise Naidu’s far-reaching economic reforms, investor-friendly governance, and transformational leadership. The jury reportedly included industrialists such as Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of the JSW Group, and Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts.
However, critics pointed out that The Economic Times had already published the news on its front page earlier in the day, questioning the need for suspense till noon. Some also raised eyebrows over the jury composition, noting that several members were beneficiaries of Naidu’s industrial policies, having received prime land allocations under previous regimes.
While many of Lokesh’s followers congratulated him and the Chief Minister on X, some went a step further, suggesting that Lokesh too deserved credit for attracting major IT companies like TCS, Google, and Cognizant to Andhra Pradesh.
At the same time, social media was flooded with memes and sarcastic reactions. One netizen asked, “Any scams doing in this government?” Another queried, “Job calendar anna?” A more pointed comment read, “Ee article payment kosam pass chesina GO soon baitaki vachestadi ani hope chestunnam,” implying hopes that a government order approving payment for the article would soon be made public. KTR’s Protest Over MLA Defections Finds Little Support
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao has been vocally protesting the Telangana Assembly Speaker’s decision on Wednesday to refuse the disqualification of five MLAs who allegedly defected to the Congress. However, his criticism has failed to gain significant traction in political and media circles.
Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar ruled that the five legislators had not formally defected from the BRS to the Congress, stating that there was no strong evidence to support the allegations. Similar rulings are expected in cases involving other MLAs as well. That said, a few leaders—such as Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender—may still be compelled to resign, as they openly aligned with the Congress during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Reacting sharply, KTR described the Speaker’s decision as “unjust, illegal, and undemocratic.” He accused the Congress of showing disrespect towards the Constitution and the rule of law, and alleged that the ruling was driven by fear of public backlash in potential by-elections.
However, political analysts have pointed out what they see as a contradiction in the BRS’s stance, recalling the party’s own record during the tenure of K Chandrashekar Rao. During that period, large-scale defections—and even party mergers—were not only permitted but actively encouraged. Such moves were often defended using legal and technical interpretations, with KCR frequently terming them “political realignments.”
KTR has attempted to defend his party’s past actions by drawing a distinction between “defections” and “mergers,” arguing that mergers are constitutional. Critics, however, say this argument relies heavily on legal technicalities while ignoring public perception and ethical considerations.
Analysts note that if defections under the previous BRS regime were justified on technical grounds, it weakens the party’s moral authority to condemn similar actions by the current Congress government. “Earlier defections were defended legally, not morally. Now, the Speaker is doing the same,” one analyst observed.
Political observers caution that such justifications—whether for piecemeal defections or wholesale mergers—overlook the core issue: elected representatives switching loyalties ultimately undermines voter trust and amounts to a betrayal of the electoral mandate.

India streamlines B-4 business visas to fast-track foreign technical experts
India has moved to ease a long-standing operational bottleneck for manufacturers by rolling out a simplified visa framework that makes it easier for companies to recruit foreign engineers and technical specialists for critical production work such as machinery installation, commissioning, training and plant design.
The changes are expected to particularly benefit domestic manufacturers that import specialised equipment and depend on overseas experts to set up, operate and scale their systems. In recent months, several companies had flagged delays in securing visas—especially for Chinese professionals—whose technical support was essential for running projects, PTI reported.
Online module launched on NSWS
As part of the overhaul, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has introduced a digital facility that allows Indian companies to generate sponsorship letters online for inviting foreign professionals under the e-Production Investment Business Visa, also known as the e-B-4 Visa.
The module went live on November 29 on the National Single Window System (NSWS). DPIIT said the initiative is aimed at simplifying business visa procedures and improving India’s ease-of-doing-business environment.
Officials acknowledged that the earlier approval process was slow and layered, often delaying time-sensitive manufacturing projects. “The time taken to grant visas will be significantly shorter now,” an official said.
So far, 129 sponsorship letters have already been generated through the platform. These will be used by foreign professionals to apply for visas and travel to Indian manufacturing units to carry out assigned work.
Officials noted that while foreign business visitors had always been coming to India, the revised framework brings greater clarity and consistency. “The visa process has now been streamlined and is much more structured,” the official added.
Importantly, the facility is available not only to companies covered under production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, but also to firms outside the PLI framework.
Policy shift under MHA circular
The reforms follow a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) circular issued in August 2025, which addressed ambiguities around employment visas, business visas and the earlier e-PLI business visa category.
Under the revised approach, two activities earlier treated as employment visas—foreign nationals visiting India for installation and commissioning of equipment under supply contracts, and those receiving fees or royalties from Indian companies—have now been brought under the business visa framework.
“Further, a new sub-category of Production Investment Visa has been created under the Business Visa regime and called the B-4 Visa for enabling foreign subject matter specialists, engineers and technical professionals to be engaged by Indian companies,” DPIIT said.
Scope of the B-4 Visa
Professionals entering India under the B-4 Visa can participate in a wide range of production-linked activities, including equipment installation and commissioning, quality inspections, essential maintenance, production support, IT ramp-up, workforce training, vendor development for supply chains, plant design and commissioning. The visa also covers visits by senior executives for production investment purposes.
DPIIT confirmed that the earlier e-PLI business visa category has been scrapped. Under the new system, the Production Investment Visa will be issued as an e-visa through the central visa portal, with Indian companies required to first generate sponsorship letters digitally via the NSWS module.
The department said the overall process has been simplified through shorter application forms and the removal of mandatory recommendations from line ministries—steps expected to significantly reduce delays and help manufacturers execute projects faster.
