Priyanka Chopra’s Fight Against Hollywood Stereotypes

Priyanka Chopra Jonas may be a global icon today, but her journey to Hollywood was far from smooth. Despite arriving with an impressive Indian filmography—including acclaimed performances in Fashion, Barfi, Aitraaz, 7 Khoon Maaf, Don, and Bajirao Mastani—Priyanka had to confront deep stereotypes before earning meaningful roles in the West.
Speaking at the Bridge Summit in the UAE, the actress discussed the early challenges she faced while seeking work in America. She revealed that the majority of roles offered to her were rooted in outdated, one-dimensional depictions of Indian women.
“So many times I said no to being, you know, the Indian girl with the exaggerated accent—pretty, ornamental, and nothing more,” Priyanka said. She added that the sheer number of such stereotypical roles shocked her. Rejecting scripts one after another was not easy, especially when she was new and trying to establish herself in Hollywood.
Priyanka emphasized that it took determination and self-respect to refuse the limiting portrayals and wait for something that aligned with her values. “I really had to fight that for a couple of years until I got Quantico, where I played an FBI agent,” she shared. The show became her breakthrough project in Hollywood, proving that she could carry layered, powerful roles that went far beyond outdated stereotypes.
The success of Quantico opened the gates to major Hollywood films like Baywatch, Love Again, and Heads of State. Today, Priyanka is celebrated as one of the most influential South Asian artists on the global stage, known for choosing impactful, diverse, and culturally respectful roles.
During her conversation, she urged aspiring actors—especially from minority backgrounds—not to accept roles that diminish their identity. She highlighted the importance of patience, persistence, and knowing one’s worth. Priyanka’s journey stands as a testament to how courageously saying “no” can lead to the most significant and groundbreaking opportunities.
Bahrain Announces Two-Day National Holiday for December 2025

The Kingdom of Bahrain will pause routine government operations next week as the nation prepares to celebrate two significant national occasions. Citizens and residents will receive designated holidays to honour Bahrain’s heritage, leadership, and ongoing progress, following the government’s announcement of official public holidays.
Government Declares Two-Day National Holiday
A formal circular issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, confirms that all ministries, public authorities, and government institutions will remain closed on Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Significance of the Holidays
National Day commemorates Bahrain’s historic milestones, its development journey, and the unity of its people.
Accession Day marks the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s ascension to the throne, celebrating his leadership and the nation’s progress under his guidance.
Together, these consecutive holidays underscore Bahrain’s national pride and the strong relationship between the leadership and its citizens.
What Residents Should Know
With government offices closed, individuals with pending official work are encouraged to reschedule their plans. While essential services may remain operational, some may adjust their working hours. Residents are advised to check directly with relevant departments for updated timings.
The two-day break offers Bahrainis and expatriates an opportunity to celebrate, take part in community events, and reflect on the Kingdom’s achievements while looking forward to continued growth. The directive applies uniformly across all state-run entities throughout the Kingdom.
iQOO CEO on Price Hike, Camera Tech & Performance

The iQOO 15 has officially launched in India and has already generated significant buzz for its performance, design, battery innovations, and camera capabilities. Having used the device as my primary phone for two weeks, I found the phone remarkably refined, leaving little room for criticism.
To understand the decisions behind the product and the technology powering it, I sat down with Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO India, for a detailed conversation. We discussed everything—from rising flagship prices to camera technology shared with vivo, gaming performance, and the idea behind “Monster Inside.”
Why Are Flagship Prices Rising?
Business Today: In a price-sensitive market like India, flagship devices have seen noticeable price jumps. Even the iQOO 15 costs a few thousand more than its predecessor. What’s driving this increase—new battery tech, the processor, or larger industry trends?
Nipun Marya: There are two parts to this. Yes, the price of the iQOO 15 has increased compared to the iQOO 13. But when you look at the upgrades—from the display and processor to the silicon carbide battery and new software features—it is a remarkable leap. The added value justifies the difference.
Secondly, it’s well known that the industry is facing a significant surge in component prices. That global pressure is also a major contributor.
How Much Vivo Tech Is Inside iQOO’s Cameras?
Business Today: The iQOO 15 camera performance is impressive. How much of the optical stack comes from vivo’s flagship lineup, and does that drive the strong results?
Nipun Marya: Absolutely. iQOO benefits hugely from vivo’s camera expertise. Camera performance today is an interplay of hardware and software—colour science, texture processing, AI tuning, scene detection, and more. All of that expertise is leveraged from vivo, and it plays a large role in the output you see.
Is It 1:1 With Vivo’s X-Series?
Business Today: So is the camera setup identical to what we see in vivo flagships, or are there deliberate distinctions?
Nipun Marya: The vivo X-series is built for professional-grade photography, so anything absolutely cutting-edge debuts there first. Over time, innovations filter into iQOO devices. While specifics are hard to list, you can safely assume iQOO gets the “goodness” of vivo’s camera tech—just tuned for a different audience.
A 15 Pro With ZEISS Soon?
Business Today: When can we expect an iQOO 15 Pro with a ZEISS partnership?
Nipun Marya: I’ll take that as feedback (laughs).
Is There Any Game That Challenges the iQOO 15?
Business Today: You’ve built a device packed with power. Is there any current mobile game that pushes it to its limits?
Nipun Marya: I don’t think so. We’re actually hoping more games support ray tracing, because the iQOO 15 is truly capable of handling it smoothly. We’ve also added the Game Live Stream Assistant—no Android phone has solved this for pro gamers, and now we have. For gamers, this is going to be a dream device.
His Favourite Game on the iQOO 15
Business Today: Your favourite game to play on the device?
Nipun Marya: BGMI… maybe Subway Surfers on some days.
What Is the “Monster Inside”?
Business Today: Finally, if you had to name just one thing that represents the “Monster Inside” the iQOO 15, what would it be?
Nipun Marya: Refined performance. The combination of our supercomputing chip Q3 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 defines what the iQOO 15 truly stands for.

UAE Tightens Entry & Residency Laws with Steeper Penalties

The UAE has intensified its laws governing the entry and residence of foreigners as part of a national strategy to enhance security, stability, and public safety. According to Gulf News, officials confirmed that the updated measures aim to curb violations that may threaten national security or disrupt public order.
Severe Penalties for Sheltering or Employing Infiltrators
In response to rising cases of infiltrators being sheltered or employed illegally, the government has introduced stringent penalties under Federal Law No. 29 of 2021.
The consequences include:
Fines ranging from Dh100,000 to Dh5 million
(approx. ₹24.46 lakh to ₹12.23 crore)
A minimum of two months’ imprisonment, depending on the extent of involvement
These penalties apply not only to offenders who illegally employ or shelter infiltrators but also to anyone providing accommodation, work, transportation, or any form of assistance enabling them to remain in the country unlawfully.
Why the Crackdown?
Officials stressed that unidentified or unregistered entrants pose significant security challenges, including risks of involvement in criminal or unlawful activities. Ensuring strict compliance, they said, is essential for safeguarding society and maintaining public order.
Strict Action Against Visa Misuse
Authorities reiterated that visas must be used strictly for their intended purpose.
Misusing visit or tourist visas—such as taking up employment while on a temporary visa—is considered a serious violation that can lead to:
Arrest
Deportation
Additional legal penalties
The UAE regards its visa system as a key regulatory framework for managing residency and labour markets.
Harsh Punishments for Forgery of Residency Documents
The legislation also targets forgery or fraudulent use of residency and identity documents. Such offences are treated as direct attacks on the national identity system and state security.
Penalties for document forgery include:
Up to 10 years in prison
Substantial fines, varying by the type of document and the nature of the offence
Authorities emphasised that tampering with official records—including fake visas, altered residency permits, or fabricated identities—is a grave offence with long-term legal consequences.
Protecting the Labour Market
The broader crackdown reflects the UAE’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its labour market. By preventing illegal employment and enforcing visa rules, the government aims to:
Ensure fair competition
Protect workers’ rights
Strengthen contractual and regulatory systems
Preserve public order
Chiru–Charan Musical Wave Takes Over Tollywood

Megastar Chiranjeevi has kick-started a musical storm with “Meesala Pilla”, the first single from his upcoming family entertainer Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. Composed by Bheems Ceciroleo, the song became a chartbuster within hours of release, with Chiranjeevi–Nayanthara’s on-screen chemistry winning widespread applause. The track has already crossed 80 million views and continues to dominate national music charts.
Riding on the momentum, Ram Charan added his own thunder with “Chikiri Chikiri”, the first single from Peddi. Composed by A.R. Rahman, the number blends rustic rhythms with energetic choreography, celebrating youthful love in a rural backdrop. Charan’s electrifying moves paired with Rahman’s addictive composition have made the song a global sensation, trending in multiple countries and surpassing 110 million views.
“This is only the beginning,” says Peddi producer Ravi Shankar Yellamanchili. “Ram Charan pushed himself tremendously for this song. His combination with A.R. Rahman has clicked in a big way. It’s going to set new trends.” He also notes that Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is a rural sports drama loaded with emotion, while Anil Ravipudi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is a heart-warming family drama centering on an estranged couple, played by Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara.
Mythri Movie Makers, who previously scored blockbusters with Waltair Veerayya and Rangasthalam, are thrilled with this father-son musical wave. “It’s wonderful to see both songs ruling the charts,” says Ravi Shankar. “It has become a fun musical competition between a legendary father and his superstar son.”
He also shares an anecdote showcasing Chiranjeevi’s work ethic: “During post-production in Hyderabad, Chiranjeevi garu personally supervised the finalisation of two songs. His dedication is unmatched—his career is built on talent, discipline, and relentless professionalism.”
On the rare “competition” between Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, he adds, “Chiranjeevi garu is set to create new records this January, and we hope Charan surpasses them in March. It’s all friendly—Charan deeply admires his father.”
Writer-director Kona Venkat, currently scripting Chiranjeevi’s next film with director Bobby, says, “Chiranjeevi can seamlessly move between mass roles and simple, grounded characters. After years of solo-hero films, he’s elevating multistarrers and balancing genres perfectly.”
A leading distributor sums up the commercial scenario:
“Ram Charan currently leads with a ₹350 crore pre-release business, while Chiranjeevi’s stands around ₹230 crore including OTT and satellite rights. Chiranjeevi has no intention of competing with his son. Earlier this year, he even postponed Vishwambhara to make space for Ram Charan’s Game Changer. Both films have strong business potential, and a direct clash is very unlikely.”
Krithi Shetty Tamil Debut Faces Major Delays

Actress Krithi Shetty, who shot to fame with her impressive debut in Uppena, has struggled to maintain the early momentum she gained in Telugu cinema. While she continues to enjoy good recognition, she hasn’t been able to convert that initial success into a strong star presence.
Hoping for a fresh start, Krithi shifted her focus to Tamil cinema, where she lined up three films as part of her big debut. However, her Tamil entry has now hit an unexpected roadblock. All three films — Vaa Vathiyaar, Love Insurance Kompany, and Genie — have been postponed. While the first two have confirmed delays, there is still no clarity on the release date of Genie.
With all three December releases pushed ahead, Krithi’s Tamil debut is set to be significantly delayed. The actress, who entered the industry at age 18, has grown both in experience and confidence. She has been eagerly waiting to showcase her evolved screen presence and is ready to elevate her glamour game.
But back-to-back obstacles like these are uncommon for an actress trying to break into a new industry. Krithi had high expectations from her Tamil projects, yet her wait for a major breakthrough seems to be stretching longer than she had hoped.
Hrithik’s Dhurandhar Comment Sparks Controversy

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is currently setting the Indian box office on fire, with impressive revenues reflecting its strong mass appeal. However, the film has also sparked debate, with some critics arguing that the India–Pakistan narrative in spy thrillers has become repetitive.
Amid the ongoing discussions, Hrithik Roshan took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the film, and his remarks have stirred fresh controversy.
In his Instagram story, Hrithik wrote, “I love cinema. I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. Dhurandhar is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema.”
He further added, “I may disagree with the politics of it and argue about the responsibilities we filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, I can’t ignore how much I loved and learned from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.”
Hrithik’s statement, especially his mention of disagreeing with the film’s “politics,” has fueled speculation that he was subtly critiquing the movie’s underlying message. Many believe his words indirectly address the growing sentiment that such films often serve as propaganda vehicles.
His comments have since ignited a wide debate in Bollywood circles, with fans and industry insiders waiting to see if more stars will share their opinions on Dhurandhar and its political undertones.
