Krithi Shetty Reveals Chilling Paranormal Experience Before ‘Vaa Vaathiyaar’ Shoot

Share

Actress Krithi Shetty, who will be seen playing a Gypsy spirit reader in director Nalan Kumarasamy’s upcoming Tamil film Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi in the lead, has made a surprising revelation about a real-life supernatural encounter she experienced just a day before the shoot began.

In an exclusive interaction with IANS, Krithi said her role in the film carries strong mystical elements. “I play a Gypsy spirit reader. I am like a medium, basically. My character introduces the supernatural vibe into the film, which makes it very exciting. I haven’t seen too many such characters in Indian cinema,” she shared.

When asked about her belief in spirits, the actress said her faith comes from her cultural roots. “I am Tulu, and we believe in praying to our ancestors. We believe they are always around us, protecting us like guardian angels. So I definitely believe in spirits,” she said.

Krithi then went on to recount an eerie experience that strengthened her belief even further. “Something very strange happened the night before my first day of shoot. I believed I witnessed a spirit in my hotel room. I didn’t see the face, but I definitely saw the figure. When we switched on the light, there was a loud sound. My mother and I instantly knew something supernatural had happened,” she recalled.

The actress said the experience deepened her conviction while portraying her character. “Earlier, even I wouldn’t have believed in mediums or people who claim to see spirits. But after this incident, I had no choice. In a way, I feel grateful because it made my belief in my character much stronger,” she added.

Apart from Karthi and Krithi Shetty, Vaa Vaathiyaar also stars Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G.M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, P.L. Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan and Madhur Mittal in pivotal roles. Karthi will be seen portraying a police officer, with Karunakaran as his subordinate.

The technical crew includes cinematographer George C. Williams, editor Vetre Krishnan, stunt choreographer Anal Arasu, and choreographers Sandy and Sharief. The song lyrics are penned by Vivek, Kelithee and Muthamil, while costumes are designed by Poornima Ramaswamy, Aegan Ekambaram and Pallavi Singh. The film also features three co-directors — Rams Murugan, Navakanth Rajkumaar and Sundar Venkat.

With its mix of mystery, action, and supernatural elements, Vaa Vaathiyaar is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing Tamil releases to look forward to.

Aamir Khan Confirms Film with Lokesh Kanagaraj Amid Career Crossroads

Share

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who recently faced setbacks with Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie, found himself at the receiving end of sharp criticism from audiences and critics alike, particularly over the film’s execution. With uncertainty looming over his much-anticipated Kaithi 2, speculation around his next project had intensified across film circles.

Amid these doubts, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has provided a significant update that has sparked fresh excitement. As per the latest developments, Aamir Khan is officially in talks with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a new project. While the collaboration had been under discussion for quite some time, Aamir has now confirmed that the project is indeed happening and that narration sessions are currently underway.

Speaking about his career plans, Aamir revealed his strong desire to deliver at least one film every year—a goal he admits has been challenging to maintain. However, he remains firm on making it happen. In this context, he confirmed his association with Lokesh, stating that their meeting was supposed to take place last month and that the director will narrate the story once he is in Mumbai.

“My intention and emotion is to give one film a year. I’m trying my best. The project with Lokesh will happen,” Aamir Khan said, confirming the much-talked-about collaboration.

Interestingly, both Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj are currently at crucial junctures in their careers and are in urgent need of a solid blockbuster. This collaboration, if finalized, could prove to be a major turning point for both the actor and the director.

Suriya Bets on Telugu and Malayalam Films for Career Revival

Share

After facing a lean phase in his Tamil film career with a string of underperforming projects, superstar Suriya is now exploring fresh avenues across multiple film industries. In a bold move to reinvent himself, the actor has ventured into Telugu cinema for the first time, with his debut project currently under production.

Adding to this multi-language expansion, Suriya is now set to enter the Malayalam film space as well. He will be collaborating with noted director Jithu Madhavan, who shot to fame with the blockbuster Aavesham. The project becomes even more intriguing with the inclusion of popular Malayalam actors Nazriya Nazim and Naslen, promising a youthful and energetic ensemble. This strategic move reflects Suriya’s renewed focus on experimental scripts and cross-industry collaborations.

Meanwhile, trade circles are already optimistic about his upcoming Telugu project with director Venky Atluri, which is also slated for a simultaneous Tamil release. If the film clicks at the box office, it could play a crucial role in reviving Suriya’s market in Tamil Nadu. The yet-untitled Malayalam project also carries strong buzz, making the coming phase critical for the actor’s career resurgence.

However, industry observers are cautious, citing recent examples where actors like Dhanush delivered hits in Telugu and Hindi, only to see the same films underperform in Tamil. A similar outcome for Suriya could mean another setback at home. That said, with positive early buzz surrounding both projects, expectations remain high as fans await further announcements.

Priyanka Jawalkar’s New Photos Spark Comeback Buzz

Share

Priyanka Jawalkar, the Telugu actress who hails from a Marathi-speaking family, has been facing a subdued phase in her career over the past year. After a brief cameo in Siddu Jonnalagadda’s Tillu Square in 2024 and another fleeting appearance in Mad Square in 2025, she has not featured in any substantial roles, making it a notably quiet period for the actress.

While a single cameo across an entire year is far from ideal, fans have continued to hold out hope that she would soon return with a stronger project. That anticipation has now gained fresh momentum after a new set of her photographs surfaced online, instantly drawing attention for their understated and refreshing aesthetic.

Unlike conventional glamour portraits, these images capture Priyanka in a more candid, natural moment. Dressed in a deep red outfit that subtly merges with the background, she appears seated in a quiet, reflective mood. The slightly off-centre framing and soft composition give the photographs a spontaneous charm, as if the camera caught her mid-thought. Even the surrounding floral elements feel gently imperfect, adding to the warmth and authenticity of the visuals.

Fans believe these graceful yet grounded images could help reignite interest from casting directors and filmmakers. After a year marked by low visibility on the big screen, even a single strong script could mark a meaningful comeback for Priyanka Jawalkar.

NTR and Prabhas Spark New Lean Look Trend

Share

The recent cinematic buzz surrounding the physical transformations of top Telugu stars has put NTR firmly in the spotlight. The Young Tiger is currently shooting for director Prashanth Neel’s upcoming film, tentatively titled Dragon. As part of this project, NTR has adopted a noticeably leaner look, which initially drew heavy trolling and criticism on social media.

However, the trend seems to be gaining momentum, as Prabhas has now surprised fans with a similarly lean transformation during his recent visit to Japan. While the sudden change initially left fans stunned, many soon began appreciating the freshness and sharpness of his new appearance.

NTR, meanwhile, has been steadily reshaping his physique by shedding excess weight and growing out his beard for Dragon. Though the exact significance of this look remains under wraps, sources suggest that the makers are strategically crafting a major on-screen surprise. His latest public appearance, featuring a neatly trimmed beard and visibly improved physique, has been receiving positive feedback.

On the other hand, Prabhas’ fans had grown fatigued with his frequent headband look in recent outings. His latest transformation has thus come as a welcome shock. Many believe that this lean makeover is for Spirit, where he reportedly plays a powerful police officer under director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Expectations are high that the filmmaker is preparing to present Prabhas in a strikingly different avatar.

If both NTR’s and Prabhas’ new looks resonate well with audiences, this could potentially spark a new trend among star heroes, with more actors opting for leaner physiques for upcoming projects.

Akhanda 2 Release Hinges on Court Verdict Amid Financial and Piracy Concerns

Share

The release of Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, remains uncertain, keeping the film industry on edge. With the courts observing holidays over the weekend, the next significant hearing is scheduled for Monday. A favorable decision could pave the way for a release on the 12th, while any delay or unfavorable ruling may complicate the launch.

The film has faced multiple financial hurdles. Discussions held on the 4th and 5th of this month reportedly resolved many issues verbally, though formal agreements are still pending signatures. While director Boyapati Srinu has indicated his willingness to forego a portion of his pending payment, he remains firm on not returning any amounts already disbursed. Reports suggest his total remuneration for Akhanda 2 is around ₹35 crore, with ₹25 crore already paid.

Even with a positive court ruling, approximately ₹20 crore remains to be cleared to settle all dues. Half of this may be arranged through cooperation, but the remainder poses a significant challenge. Financiers are likely to step in only after a favorable verdict; otherwise, the project risks returning to square one.

Another pressing concern is piracy. Leaks of the movie’s content have already circulated, raising the risk of substantial losses if piracy groups exploit the situation. Industry insiders believe that, given the prevailing risks, an expedited release is crucial.

All attention now turns to the court’s decision, which will ultimately determine the fate of Akhanda 2.

TG Vishwa Prasad Clears Rumours on ‘The Raja Saab’ Release

Share

The Telugu film industry was recently shaken by the sudden postponement of Akhanda 2, a move that created uncertainty across trade circles and triggered widespread speculation about several other major releases. Among the films caught in the middle of these rumours was Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab.

Over the past few weeks, reports had surfaced claiming that The Raja Saab might not arrive during the Sankranti season, while some even hinted at financial difficulties surrounding the project. These unverified claims led to confusion among fans and industry insiders alike.

Putting an end to the speculation, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has now issued a clear and firm clarification. He stated that all external investments brought into The Raja Saab have already been cleared through internal funds. While acknowledging that some interest payments are still pending, he assured that they will be settled well before the film officially enters the business phase.

Expressing concern over the growing trend of last-minute hurdles faced by big films, Vishwa Prasad said such obstacles do not impact producers alone, but also severely affect buyers, exhibitors, technicians, and thousands of industry workers who depend on timely releases. He urged the government to introduce clear legal guidelines to prevent third-party interference at the final stages of film releases.

Sharing his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), the producer wrote that the recent Akhanda 2 postponement deeply disturbed him and highlighted how last-minute disruptions harm the entire ecosystem of cinema. He clarified that the rumours surrounding The Raja Saab were unfortunate and reaffirmed that the film’s financial structure remains completely secure.

The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi and starring Prabhas in the lead role, is one of the most awaited big-budget entertainers of the season. The film has already generated massive buzz, and its promotional activities are currently in full swing. The makers have officially confirmed that the film will hit theatres on January 9, as a special Sankranti release.

Thaman Hints at Grand Launch of Telugu Cinema’s Mysterious New Hero

Share

Telugu cinema, known for shaping iconic stars and legendary screen presences, is now set to welcome a promising new face into its illustrious league. While the industry often witnesses frequent debuts, this particular arrival has captured exceptional attention—thanks largely to star music composer S Thaman’s intriguing social media tease and a visually striking announcement video presented in an engaging comic-book style.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Thaman fueled the excitement with a cryptic yet powerful message: “He doesn’t say much. But his arrival will make all the noise.” The tweet instantly sparked curiosity, especially with the noted composer personally hyping the debut of a newcomer.

Adding to the intrigue, the production house has revealed that the project will introduce not just a new hero, but also a new heroine, a new banner, and an entirely fresh technical team. The film is being positioned as a romance-action entertainer, promising a stylish and contemporary cinematic experience.

The announcement video has further intensified the buzz with its grand visual scale, high-end production values, and a narrative tone that blends love and action in a distinctly Hollywood-inspired presentation. Its slick visuals and mysterious storytelling cues have left audiences eagerly speculating about the film’s theme and the identity of its leading man.

All questions are set to be answered on December 14, when the makers will unveil the project in a grand reveal. With curiosity at its peak and industry heavyweights lending their support, the debut of this “New Guy” is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about launches in recent Telugu cinema.

Deva Katta’s Bold Claim Raises Expectations for Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’

Share

Ace director SS Rajamouli is set to return with another colossal cinematic venture titled Varanasi, featuring Mahesh Babu in the lead role. Touted as one of the most expensive projects in the history of Indian cinema, the film is currently in its production stage and is already generating massive buzz across the industry.

Adding fuel to the excitement, noted filmmaker and writer Deva Katta, who is associated with the film as one of its writers, recently made a striking remark about the scale and ambition of the project. He stated that if Magadheera, Eega, Baahubali, and RRR were all combined and taken to an even higher level, the result would be Varanasi. His powerful comparison has significantly heightened expectations among cinema lovers.

Deva Katta also expressed deep admiration for Rajamouli’s extraordinary storytelling abilities. Speaking candidly, he admitted that even if the Varanasi script were handed over to him, he might not be able to deliver it with the same impact. According to him, Rajamouli operates on an entirely different creative plane, seamlessly blending emotion, spectacle, and imaginative world-building like no other filmmaker.

The film boasts a stellar cast with Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing key roles alongside Mahesh Babu. Adding further strength to the project, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani is composing the music. Varanasi was officially launched at a grand event in Hyderabad, and even the title announcement created a massive wave of excitement.

With its ambitious scale, powerful team, and sky-high expectations, Varanasi is shaping up to be one of the most awaited and talked-about films in Indian cinema.

Smriti Mandhana Confirms Wedding Called Off with Palash Muchhal

Share

Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially addressed the rumours surrounding her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal, confirming that the marriage has been called off. The announcement was made through an emotional note shared on her Instagram story, where she also appealed for privacy during this difficult time.

The wedding was originally scheduled to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown. However, the celebrations were abruptly postponed after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell seriously ill just hours before the ceremony. The situation further worsened when Palash Muchhal was also hospitalised the following day due to health complications.

Following these developments, Smriti deleted all posts related to her relationship and wedding festivities from social media, fuelling speculation about the status of their relationship. Over the past few days, rumours intensified that the couple had parted ways.

Putting an end to the speculation, Smriti wrote, “Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.” She further requested everyone to respect the privacy of both families and refrain from further assumptions.

Reaffirming her focus on her career, Smriti added that her primary purpose remains representing India at the highest level. “I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward,” she concluded.
