No matter how progressive or open-minded a family may seem, it’s quite natural for parents to feel uneasy when their daughter — especially if she’s an actress — performs intimate or kissing scenes on screen. Many heroines have spoken in interviews about how their families set boundaries before they entered films, often asking them to stay away from such scenes.

However, actress Sonam Bajwa recently shared a refreshingly different experience. In a candid conversation, she revealed that while she initially maintained a strict “no-kiss” policy, her parents’ surprising reaction later changed her perspective completely.

Sonam recalled that during her early years in cinema, she deliberately avoided roles involving kissing or intimate sequences and even turned down several Bollywood offers for that reason. “I used to constantly think about how people back home in Punjab would perceive me. I was scared of how the family audience would react — and most importantly, how my parents would feel,” she said.

But years later, when she finally spoke to her parents about it, their reaction stunned her. “They simply said, ‘It’s all part of acting. What’s the big deal?’ I couldn’t believe it — I had spent years worrying about something that never even bothered them,” Sonam shared with a laugh.

Sonam Bajwa, who made her Telugu debut with Aatadukundam Raa opposite Sushanth and also appeared in Babu Bangaram alongside Venkatesh, has since built a diverse filmography across Punjabi, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. She was last seen in Housefull 5 and is currently promoting her upcoming romantic drama Ek Deewani Ki Deewaniyat with Harshvardhan Rane, where she opened up about this personal and eye-opening experience.
