Balakrishna Honoured at 56th IFFI for 50 Years in Cinema

Seasoned actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna received a special honour at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The prestigious cultural festival, which brings together celebrated film personalities and delegates from across the nation, commenced on Thursday with a grand opening ceremony.
Marking 50 years in cinema, Balakrishna has earned countless accolades over his illustrious journey. In recognition of his immense contribution to Indian cinema, he was felicitated with a special honour on the very first day of the festival. The event was graced by Goa Governor and former TDP Polit Bureau Member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting L. Murugan, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
During his address, Balakrishna expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his five-decade career. He thanked his parents, NTR and Basavatarakam, for being his guiding inspiration and said he proudly carries forward their legacy. He also acknowledged his wife Vasundhara for her unwavering support and crucial role in his journey.
Earlier this year, the Hindupur MLA was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his contributions to social service through the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital and for his inspiring achievements in cinema.
On the professional front, Balakrishna is gearing up for the release of his upcoming pan-India film Akhanda 2. He is also set to collaborate with Gopichand Malineni for a historical action drama next.
Krishna Allavaru: Rahul Gandhi’s Strategist Faces Backlash After Bihar Poll Loss

Krishna Allavaru is the trusted lieutenant of Rahul Gandhi and was appointed as the Congress in-charge for the Bihar Assembly elections. Despite the high expectations, the party managed to win only 6 out of the 61 seats it contested, and the responsibility is being widely attributed to Krishna, who was reportedly given a free rein by Rahul Gandhi.
Not much is publicly known about this Telugu strategist. He keeps a very low profile and has a background working with top consultants like KPMG. He entered politics in 2010, leaving the corporate world behind, and has since risen through the ranks. Currently, he serves as Joint Secretary of the Congress, but the Bihar elections marked the first time he was entrusted with overseeing a State poll.
Krishna is also believed to be the brain behind Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Chori’ yatra. Under his leadership, the Congress notably refused to compromise with the Lal Yadav family on seat-sharing — a first in the party’s history. Known for being hard-working and committed, he was appointed Bihar in-charge in February 2025.
However, critics argue that his lack of local knowledge and political experience may have contributed to the poor results. “He had absolutely no understanding of Bihar. How could he grasp the complexities of the State in just six months? He has never contested an election before and appointed candidates unsuitable for their constituencies,” said a Congress MP from Bihar.
Whether Rahul Gandhi will continue to support Krishna or hold him accountable for the Bihar debacle remains to be seen. Only time will tell.
Rajamouli Varanasi Controversy: Remarks on Lord Rama Spark Backlash

This famous verse reminds us that those recognized as śreṣṭha (respected or exemplary individuals) carry immense responsibility. Their words and actions influence society, and they must exercise caution, especially when speaking in public. Bhakti (devotion) serves as a guiding force that keeps society aligned with moral and ethical values. Diluting or disregarding it can have unintended societal consequences.
The recent Varanasi event involving director S. S. Rajamouli seems to have fallen short of expectations. Known for creating cinematic spectacles, Rajamouli likely anticipated a grand, positive impact. Instead, the event generated little buzz, with excitement failing to materialize.
Adding to the disappointment, his speech became controversial. A minor technical glitch left him visibly emotional, but the bigger concern arose from his remarks about Lord Hanuman, which sparked criticism from devotional groups. Moreover, several old clips resurfaced in which he allegedly described Lord Rama as a “boring character,” intensifying the backlash, particularly from Hindutva circles.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that his father, Vijayendra Prasad, is a BJP MP, yet Rajamouli is now being accused of lacking devotion. While personal belief is a private matter, handling characters rooted in Indian mythology, especially ones with national emotional significance like Lord Rama, demands careful and respectful communication in public forums.
What is surprising is Rajamouli’s continued silence, despite criticism from both the public and prominent political figures like Raja Singh and Kompella Madhavi Latha. At this stage, it would be prudent for him to:
Clarify the context of his earlier remarks.
Explain what he truly meant during the Varanasi event.
Apologize if his words unintentionally hurt anyone’s sentiments.
Prolonged silence risks creating a perception of arrogance, which could influence the reception of his future films. Public figures, especially those handling culturally and religiously significant themes, must remember the influence of their words — a principle timelessly emphasized in the Bhagavad Gita.
Pushpa 2 TV Telecast Scores 6.78 TRP Even on 7th Screening

Allu Arjun’s craze is truly on another level. Pushpa 2 continues to break records everywhere — in theatres, on OTT platforms, through satellite rights, and now even on television.
While many big-star films struggle to pull impressive TRP ratings on TV, Pushpa 2 has left everyone stunned. Even on its 7th telecast, the movie scored an astounding 6.78 TRP — a number most new films don’t even reach during their world television premiere.
What’s remarkable is that, despite multiple screenings, audiences are still tuning in with the same excitement as before. For Allu Arjun, both Pushpa and Pushpa 2 have become career-defining milestones, elevating his stardom to new heights.
Of course, the Pushpa phenomenon has had its share of controversies — from the Sandhya theatre stampede to arrests and jail incidents — but that’s a story of its own.
Even his older hit Race Gurram, when telecast recently, managed a strong 3.65 TRP, proving once again the sheer scale of Allu Arjun’s fan following.
Shruti Haasan Shines in Music and Films

Actress, singer, and host Shruti Haasan continues to impress fans with her multi-talented performances and engaging presence on set. At the Varanasi title launch, she wowed the audience with a live rendition of the song “Sanchari,” completely owning the stage with her energy and stage presence.
Shruti also shared a light-hearted moment on set with her hairstylist, Noori, calling her “my main source of comedy and love.” In a fun video, Noori posed playfully for the camera while Shruti recorded, showing how small moments like these keep shoots lively and enjoyable.
2025 has been a strong year for Shruti both in acting and music. She lent her voice to songs like It’s a Break Up Da from the Tamil movie Kadhalikka Neramillai, Vinveli Nayaga for her father’s film Thug Life, and Globe Trotter for Mahesh Babu and S.S. Rajamouli’s upcoming movie. On the acting front, she appeared in Coolie and is set to star in Train and Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam with Superstar Prabhas, directed by Prashanth Neel, keeping fans excited for her upcoming projects.

Mohanan, who has had a remarkable career spanning Bollywood, Malayalam cinema, and even Telugu films. Working in the industry since 1990, Mohanan has contributed to documentaries, TV serials, and feature films. His Telugu credits include Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi, while in Hindi, he recently worked on the action thriller Agni.
