When India was fighting the deadly Covid crisis, a barbaric incident that questions humanity was reported, where a male nurse had reportedly raped a Covid-19 patient at a state-run hospital.
The horrific incident reportedly took place in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh. A male nurse at the state-run hospital raped the Covid-19 patient. The victim passed away within 24 hours of the attack.
What’s even more shocking is that the incident is over one month old, but made it to the headlines recently. Her family members were not even informed of the sad incident.
A 43-year-old woman, a survivor of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy was admitted to the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre on the 6th of April with Covid-19 symptoms.
After the woman was placed in the Isolation ward, a male nurse raped her. With her health condition worsening, the victim was kept on ventilator support. Her medical reports confirmed the sexual assault. She died on the same evening.
In a statement, DIG Bhopal (Urban) said, the victim complained to the hospital authorities about the incident on April 6, and based on the complaint, a police case was filed and the accused is in jail.
Giving a reason on why the issue was not disclosed to the public, the cops said, the victim asked them to see that her identity is not revealed and that is why the case didn’t come out.
It has been widely reported that, in the investigation, the cops found out that the accused identified as Santosh Ahirwar, sexually assaulted a 24-year-old woman nurse reportedly.

Give us Covid vaccines, we’ll jab all of Telangana in 45 days: KTR
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government can vaccinate its entire population of four crore within 45 days, but the problem is the lack of availability of the Covid-19 vaccine. “We have the capacity to vaccinate more than nine lakh people per day. The problem is availability of vaccine which is the major challenge,” said KT Rama Rao, IT and Industries Minister and also Chairman of the State Level Task Force Committee on Covid-19.
Rama Rao accepted suggestions and answered questions of the Twitterati in an interactive session on Covid-19 on Thursday. The Minister opined that ideally, 70 per cent of the population should be vaccinated, to break the chain. “Of the 2.9 crore adult population, we need to vaccinate 1.9 crore people. Since it’s a two-dose vaccine, we need 3.8 crore doses. It’s a demand and supply challenge,” Rama Rao said.
According to the Minister, of the total 45-plus population of 92.24 lakh, so far 45.37 lakh people have been vaccinated with first dose. The second dose has been administered to more than 10.3 lakh people so far.
More vaccines for India?
On importing vaccines, Rama Rao said that “none of the US vaccines is currently allowed for use in India. I have heard from some sources that they may be allowed soon. When that happens, we can definitely procure.”
“Whatever is allowed by Drug Controller General of India is what we can procure. So far only three vaccines are available — Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik. Hopefully Pfizer and Moderna will be allowed. By August, I am hearing that, another Indian vaccine may also be available from BE,” Rama Rao said. As clinical trials began for Covaxin on children also, Rama Rao said hopefully vaccine could be administered to kids between 5-18 also.Rama Rao further stated that they were in discussions with all three vaccine makers — Bharat Biotech, Serum Institute and Dr Reddy Labs — and would procure as much as they could.
TS better than other States, asserts KTR
The IT Minister said that Telangana was performing better than all other States. He said that the government will take the issue of junior doctors and nurses to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. On his encounter with Covid-19, Rama Rao advised people to follow the advice of medical experts (not WhatsApp experts).
Stay strong mentally; plan ahead for post Covid-19, stop watching news channels and stop reading unnecessary WhatsApp/Facebook posts. Exercise as much as you can and even do walking if you can. Do not self-medicate.

YSRCP MP Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju arrested by AP CID
YSR Congress Party Rebel MP Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju has been arrested by the AP Crime Investigation Department (CID) police today. The MP from Narasapuram Lok Sabha constituency was held by the CID sleuths at his residence in Hyderabad in the wake of the most dramatic developments.
A non-bailable case has been registered against the MP under Section 124 IPC-A. He was arrested on charges of making remarks that could tarnish the image of the government. It is worth mentioning that Section 124-A of the IPC deals with sedition.
During his arrest, the MP had a heated argument with the police and asked for a proper reason for his arrest. Police said they would reveal full details if he came to the CID office with them. However, today is Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju’s birthday. Sadly, he was arrested on his birthday.
This Bollywood beauty eagerly waiting to join HHVM shoot
By now, everyone knows that Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is playing a key role in Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film ‘Hari Hara Veeramallu’. Bandi urges Telangana govt to recruit medicos at hospitals
KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar MP and BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday demanded the State government to recruit medical staff to meet requirements at government hospitals in the State. Due to shortage of staff, people are unable to get proper treatment at government hospitals, he said.
Sanjay visited the Government Civil Hospital in Karimnagar on Thursday. Cutting across party lines, every one should strive to control Covid-19, he said. Sanjay said if the State government provided correct Covid-related figures, the Central government was ready to cooperate with it.
At the hospital, some health staff stated their grievances to Sanjay, who suggested to them to appoint 20 staff members on a temporary basis.
He said though the State government had issued notifications for recruitment of doctors and medical staff, no one had come forward. So, the notification should be issued for permanent posts, instead of for three months, he said.
