Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor has become a familiar face across the country, not just as the daughter of legendary actress Sridevi, but also for her glamorous screen presence and her ability to balance both Hindi and regional films despite stiff competition. After her recent appearance in NTR’s Devara, she is gearing up to mesmerize audiences in the upcoming pan-India film Peddi, starring opposite Ram Charan.

In a recent interview, Janhvi spoke candidly about the privileges of being a star kid, capturing widespread attention. She acknowledged that the struggles of star kids often go unnoticed because they come from a privileged background and admitted that she has no issue with this perception. Janhvi emphasized that those with connections in the film industry should be grateful for the opportunities they receive.

She also reflected on the insider-outsider divide, recognizing that outsiders face significant challenges that star kids may never fully understand. Janhvi candidly stated that when star kids discuss their difficulties, it is often perceived as insensitive because their experiences are vastly different from those without industry connections. Her forthrightness in acknowledging the privileges she enjoys and the contrasting struggles of outsiders has been appreciated, as few contemporary star kids openly admit the advantages they have while pursuing a career in films.

Janhvi Kapoor will next be seen in Ram Charan’s rural entertainer Peddi. Meanwhile, her film Homebound has been selected as India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, further highlighting her rising career.

Rukmini Vasanth Shines in Kantara: Chapter 1

Share

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, released on October 2, 2025, has sparked mixed reactions among audiences. While the prequel has already grossed over ₹100 crore worldwide within its first two days, many viewers feel it doesn’t quite match the impact of the original 2022 film. Despite this, notable filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have praised it as a cinematic masterpiece.

In the Telugu states, audience response has been moderate, though box office collections remain strong. One element, however, has received widespread acclaim: Rukmini Vasanth. Particularly among younger viewers, her beauty and compelling performance in key sequences have become a major talking point.

Rukmini first gained attention with her charm in the two-part Kannada film Side A Side B, which opened doors to bigger projects like Kantara: Chapter 1 and Yash’s Toxic. While some of her other films, including Nikhil Siddhartha’s Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, Bagheera, and Madhraasi, failed to perform at the box office, Kantara: Chapter 1 has been a turning point.

With this film, Rukmini has demonstrated her versatility and undeniable screen presence, resonating strongly with young audiences and reaffirming her place as a rising star in the industry.

Trump Envoy Key to Gaza Peace Plan as Hamas Agrees to Release Hostages

Share

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Envoy of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation, stated on Saturday that US Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff played a central role in shaping former US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

“President Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff was the key driving force behind Trump’s Gaza peace plan — built for lasting Middle East peace. Legacy media, led by the NYT, tried to undermine Witkoff’s work — and in doing so, to undermine peace itself,” Dmitriev wrote on X.

Earlier, Trump welcomed Hamas’ announcement to release all hostages held in Gaza, describing it as “a big day” and expressing hope that the hostages would soon return to their families. In a video address, he said, “I just want to let you know that this is a very special day. In many ways, it is unprecedented… We’re very close to achieving that. We’ll see how it all turns out.”

On Truth Social, Trump urged Israel to “immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the hostages out safely and quickly,” and expressed confidence that Hamas was “ready for a lasting PEACE.”

Hamas confirmed its plans to free all Israeli hostages and return the bodies of captives. In a statement on Telegram, the group affirmed its readiness to engage in negotiations with mediators to finalize the agreement and to hand over Gaza’s administration to a “Palestinian body of independent technocrats,” supported by Palestinian national consensus as well as Arab and Islamic states.

Around 48 people remain in captivity, with 20 believed to be still alive. Hamas’ announcement followed Trump’s ultimatum, in which he warned that failure to sign the Gaza peace plan by Sunday evening would result in unprecedented consequences for the group.

Trump’s 20-point peace plan proposes the establishment of a temporary technocratic government in Gaza, with Israel pledging not to annex the Strip and ensuring residents are not forcibly displaced. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire if accepted, with all captives, living and deceased, returned within 72 hours.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government and security agencies have begun preparations to implement the first phase of the plan. The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) convened a special situation assessment, emphasizing troop safety while allocating all necessary resources to the Southern Command.

The meeting was attended by key IDF officials, including the Deputy Chief of Staff, heads of operations, intelligence, and planning directorates, as well as commanders of the Southern Command and Air Force. The IDF highlighted the importance of maintaining high alertness and rapid response capabilities to neutralize any potential threats during the operation.

Indonesia School Collapse Death Toll Rises to 14

Share

The death toll from the collapse of a school building in Indonesia’s East Java province has risen to 14, local authorities confirmed on Saturday.

By Friday evening, rescuers had recovered nine more bodies, according to Tholeb Vatelehan, senior communication official of the East Java Search and Rescue Office. Nearly 50 people remain missing, and officials have warned that the death toll may continue to rise.

The multi-storey Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo district partially collapsed on Monday during unauthorised renovation work, trapping dozens of students. Earlier efforts by rescuers relied mainly on manual excavation to avoid further structural damage, but heavy machinery was deployed on Thursday after no signs of life were detected.

Suharyanto, head of Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency, said high-tech equipment such as thermal drones was used, but no additional survivors were found. Hundreds of rescuers from various agencies continue to work at the site, while authorities investigate the cause of the collapse.

Most of the students trapped were boys in grades seven to 12, aged between 12 and 19. Female students had been in another part of the building and managed to escape. Officials noted that although the school was initially two storeys, additional floors were being added without permits, and the old foundation could not support the extra concrete, leading to the collapse.

Belgium Citizenship by Investment: Pathway for Global Investors

Share

Belgium, a small yet influential European nation, has long attracted international professionals seeking stability, opportunities, and a high quality of life. With nearly 13% of its population comprising foreign residents, Belgium is renowned for its excellent infrastructure, robust social services, and a dynamic international community. Home to key EU institutions and major global corporations, the country offers a thriving job market and a favorable environment for entrepreneurs. For investors and business-minded individuals looking to establish long-term roots, Belgium’s Citizenship by Investment program provides a pathway to residency and eventually an EU passport through legitimate business activities.

Foreign investors and entrepreneurs from outside the EU can obtain Belgian residency by investing in the country or establishing a business. While Belgium does not have a strict minimum investment requirement, most applicants invest between €350,000 and €500,000 (approximately ₹3–4.3 crore) over five years. Applicants can include spouses and dependent children in their application. Each case is assessed individually by Belgian authorities based on factors such as age, financial capacity, business experience, and background. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a clean criminal record, provide verifiable proof of investment capital, demonstrate business experience and management capability, and attend in-person immigration sessions while maintaining a registered Belgian address.

Successful applicants initially receive a one-year renewable residence permit. Permanent residency can typically be applied for after three years of continuous residence, and citizenship may be granted after five years, provided language, integration, and tax compliance requirements are met. Investors are generally required to register a BVBA or SPRL company, the Belgian equivalent of a private limited liability company, maintain a registered office, provide proof of operations, and ensure adequate working capital. Initial investments usually start at €200,000, with additional capital contributions of €100,000–€200,000. Application fees range from €10,000 to €20,000, with an annual renewal fee of €5,000.

Belgian citizenship offers several benefits, including visa-free travel to 184 countries such as Schengen states, Canada, the US, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Investors also gain access to business-friendly tax structures, high-quality healthcare, and educational opportunities for their children. Spouses and dependent children can be included in the same application, and as EU citizens, Belgian citizens enjoy the freedom to live, work, or establish businesses across any EU member state.

Foreign investors can pursue Belgian residency through direct investment in a Belgian company, contributions to economic development projects, or acquisition of a general business license benefiting the local economy. The application process involves submitting a detailed proposal to Belgian immigration authorities, providing documentation to verify the source of funds and investment intentions, undergoing due diligence and background checks, and receiving approval along with an investor visa that covers the applicant and their family. After five years of residence, investors can apply for permanent residency or full citizenship, subject to language proficiency in French, Dutch, or German, and successful integration into Belgian society. Permanent residents enjoy full access to Belgium’s healthcare, education, and social services, alongside the right to work and conduct business, as well as freedom of movement across the Schengen Zone.

Federal Lawsuit Challenges Trump’s $100K H-1B Visa Fee

Share

A coalition of unions, employers, and religious organizations has filed a federal lawsuit in San Francisco challenging President Donald Trump’s order imposing a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visas. Filed on Friday, this marks the first legal challenge against the proclamation issued two weeks ago, which is part of the administration’s broader effort to tighten immigration policies.

The plaintiffs include the United Auto Workers union, the American Association of University Professors, a nurse recruitment agency, and several religious groups. They argue that while the president can limit the entry of certain foreign nationals, he cannot override the law that created the H-1B program. “The proclamation turns the H-1B program into a system where employers must either ‘pay to play’ or seek a ‘national interest’ exemption, opening the door to selective enforcement and corruption,” the lawsuit states.

The White House defended the measure, with spokesperson Abigail Jackson stating that it aims to prevent companies from “spamming the system and driving down American wages, while providing certainty to employers who need to bring the best talent from overseas.”

Under the H-1B program, U.S. employers in specialized fields, particularly technology, hire foreign workers through an annual allocation of 65,000 visas, plus 20,000 additional slots for individuals with advanced degrees. Currently, sponsoring employers pay fees ranging from $2,000 to $5,000. Trump’s new order requires an additional $100,000 payment for new applicants, though current visa holders and those who applied before September 21 are exempt.

The president justified the fee by citing federal immigration law, claiming that “large-scale replacement of American workers” by lower-wage foreign labor undermines national security and discourages Americans from pursuing careers in science and technology.

The plaintiffs, however, contend that the administration bypassed proper rulemaking processes and that imposing such exorbitant fees will stifle innovation. They emphasize that the authority to levy taxes or fees rests with Congress, not the president.

According to U.S. government data, India remains the largest beneficiary of the H-1B program, receiving 71% of visas last year, followed by China with 11.7%.
