Pakistan court grants bail to opposition leader and PML-N chief Shehbaz Sharif
LAHORE: A Pakistani court on Thursday granted bail to the PML-N chief and Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif, nearly eight months after he was arrested by the country’s top anti-graft body over his alleged involvement in money laundering and assets beyond means cases.
A three-judge bench of the Lahore High Court, headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, gave a unanimous verdict in favour of 69-year-old Shehbaz, the younger brother of the three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
On April 14, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) celebrated after the two-member bench of the LHC granted bail to Shehbaz.
However, later it was transpired that it was a split decision with Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar, who had headed the bench, accepted his bail petition, while the other member, Justice Asjad Javed Ghural, had opposed it.
On this, the chief justice constituted a three-member bench to decide the matter. Interestingly, Justice Ghural had accused Justice Dogar of issuing the bail granting short order ‘unilaterally’. “It is shocking for me to observe here that it has been mentioned in the beginning paragraph of the said order that unanimous order qua grant of bail to the petitioner was announced, which is against the ground reality,” Justice Gural had said.
On Thursday, the three-member bench (a referee bench) issued a short court order granting Shehbaz bail against furnishing two bail bonds worth PKR 5 million each. Shehbaz is expected be be released from jail on Friday.
Shehbaz was arrested in September 2020 in both cases by the National Accountability Bureau. The NAB had alleged that Shehbaz’s family had assets of around PKR 16.5 million till 1990, which increased to over PKR 7 billion in 2018 which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The NAB has already file a case against Shehbaz in the accountability court. Shehbaz’s counsel told the court since no investigation was pending against his client in these cases as the NAB had already filed a case against him, he should be granted bail.
Shehbaz is accused of beneficiary of assets held in the name of his family members and benamidars who had no sources to acquire such assets.
NAB says, “Shehbaz and other suspects committed offences of corruption and corrupt practices as envisaged under the provisions of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and money laundering as delineated in the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010.”
A total of 20 people had been nominated in the case. The other main suspects are Shehbaz’s wife Nusrat, his sons Hamza (leader of opposition in Punjab assembly) and Suleman (who is absconding in the UK), and his daughters Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali.
Shehbaz’s elder brother Nawaz Sharif has been in London since November 2019 on ‘medical grounds’. The Imran Khan government has declared Sharif an absconder and cancelled his passport. Nawaz left the country after the court granted him bail in the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case in which he was undergoing seven years imprisonment in Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore.
He was also granted four-week bail on medical grounds to have his treatment abroad. The government declared him an absconder after he failed to justify prolonging his stay in London.

కానీ.. ఇటివల ఓ పెళ్లి ఫంక్షన్ లో పవన్-ఆలీ కలసి సందడి చేశారు. పవన్ నేను కలిసే ఉన్నామని ఆమధ్య ఆలీ అన్నాడు. దీంతో వీరిద్దరూ మళ్లీ కలిసి నటిస్తారనే ఊహాగానాలు వచ్చాయి. ఇప్పుడు పవన్ సినిమాలో ఆలీకి మంచి పాత్ర దక్కిందని తెలుస్తోంది. తాను చేయబోయే తర్వాతి ప్రాజెక్టులో ఒక పాత్రకు పవనే స్వయంగా ఆలీ పేరు ప్రిఫర్ చేశాడని ఇండస్ట్రీలో టాక్ వినిపిస్తోంది. ఇదే నిజమైతే ప్రేక్షకులకు మంచి వినోదం దక్కినట్టే.
Covid Second Wave: AP sees over 10k fresh cases for the first time in 2021
Like the other states, Andhra Pradesh was also hit by the second wave of the Coronavirus. As a result, the state is reporting fresh infections and even surpassing the cases it reported during the peaks of the virus during September.
For the first time, Andhra Pradesh surpassed the 10k mark in fresh infections since the second wave started on April 22. In the past 24 hours, Andhra Pradesh reported more than 10,000 fresh infections.
The data revealed by the Health Ministry stated that 41,871 samples have been tested in the past 24 hours and 10,759 people were found infected with the respiratory disease.
The latest addition of cases takes the total toll of the state to a whopping 9,97,462. As a piece of good news, as many as 9,22,977 patients have been declared cured of the virus. The active cases stood at 66,944.
On the other hand, as many as 31 patients have breathed their last battling the deadly disease. So far, the virus has claimed a total of 7,541 lives.
Where Is Venky Kudumula?
Directors who deliver a hit film become a hot property overnight and producers stand in line to make films with him. Even heroes are also eager to give them a chance. But it is not the case with director Venky Kudumula. The student of Trivikram Srinivas made an impressive debut with ‘Chalo’.
It was a good hit and he later came up with ‘Bheeshma’. The film breathed life into Nithiin’s career which was suffering from continuous disasters. With two super hits under his name, he should’ve been working with a star hero at least but the reality is quite different.
He doesn’t have an offer in his hand. He is apparently waiting for Ram Charan and Mahesh Babu but both of them have their schedules packed and cannot be free for the next two years at least. Venky Kudumula is known for his entertaining films and any medium-level hero will be interested in doing a film with him. But we need to see if this director opts to work with mid-level heroes or wait for stars.

Actress turns Assistant director for Mahesh Babu’s SVP

But Tollywood‘s noted actress Swapnika, who is mostly seen in comic roles, has been proving that she can don both hats. The young actress turned assistant director for Superstar Mahesh Babu‘s upcoming film ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata.’
Swapnika is known for Nara Rohit’s Solo, Raju Gaari Gadhi 2, Geetha Govindam, Jamba Lakidi Pamba, Raahu and Sashi.
The young actress has revealed this news on her Instagram while she was hosting a Q/A session with her followers. During the interaction session, Swapnika revealed some interesting updates regarding the film.
Sarkaru Vaari Paata is being directed by Parasuram and is being jointly produced by Mythri Movie Makers, 14 Reels Plus, and GMB Entertainment. Keerthy Suresh will be seen as the leading lady. S Thaman will compose the music while R. Madhi handles the camera for the movie.
The second schedule of the shoot, which began recently, halted after six of the crew members have been tested Covid-19 positive. Mahesh Babu is also reportedly under home-quarantine.
Is BJP top leadership upset with Bandi Sanjay?

The party high command in Delhi too said to be upset with Bandi Sanjay over the handling of Nagarjunasagar campaign.
Sources said that complaints are piling up against Bandi Sanjay in Delhi and Amit Shah and JP Nadda are said to have taken a serious view of Bandi Sanjay’s behavior. Sources said that it was Bandi Sanjay who asked the party leaders to talk to the TRS about making Lingojiguda bypoll a unanimous one. But, later, he tried to turn the tables on seniors by appointing a three-member committee over the decision to consult TRS. The national leadership is said to have taken note of all these developments.

Devineni Uma should appear before the CID on April 29: High court
The CID officials recently issued notices to the former Andhra Pradesh minister and TDP senior leader Devineni Uma.
He is accused of displaying morphed videos of AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy at a press conference. The High Court today heard a quash petition filed by Devineni Uma.
Devineni Uma’s lawyer asked the CID to suspend the registered FIR against Devineni Uma. After hearing the arguments, the court directed Devineni Uma to appear before the CID on the 29th of this month.
The court adjourned the case till May 7. The court ordered that no action be taken against Devineni Uma till that time. The court ordered that he should be protected under Section 41. Also, the High Court directed the CID to change the CID prosecuting officer.
