Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, known for hits like Vivah and Main Hoon Na, experienced unexpected personal challenges despite her on-screen success. Following her Telugu film Athidhi with Mahesh Babu, the actress revealed that she received strange and unsettling marriage proposals.

“Some people came directly to my house saying, ‘Mujse Shaadi Karlo,’” she shared. Shockingly, some even delivered love letters written in blood. These incidents were repeated, making her feel unsafe and prompting her to avoid parties and award shows, focusing solely on her work and major public appearances.

During this difficult time, Amrita found support in R.J. Anmol, whom she dated for seven years before marrying privately in Mumbai on May 15, 2016. The couple welcomed their son Veer in 2020, bringing joy and stability to her life.

After the box-office failure of her Telugu debut Athidhi, Amrita did not pursue further projects in Tollywood. She also took a six-year break from acting after marriage. Now, she is set for a comeback in the upcoming movie Jolly LLB 3, a legal comedy-drama starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, where she plays Sandhya Tyagi.

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a proactive approach to attract investments, including the allocation of land at just Rs 1 per acre for industries.

Recently, the YSR Congress (YSRCP) attempted to criticize this initiative, suggesting that the NDA government is distributing land at throwaway prices without proper purpose. The issue was raised for discussion in the Legislative Council today.

In response, Nara Lokesh clarified that the government is allocating land at these nominal rates only to reputed companies. He cited examples such as TCS and Cognizant, which have already received land under the scheme and are expected to create nearly 25,000 jobs in total.

Lokesh also addressed allegations that the government was giving land to URSA for Rs 1, pointing out that such claims were misleading. Interestingly, YSRCP Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy had publicly stated multiple times that he would provide land for Rs 1 to URSA companies in several public meetings. The same group is now targeting the NDA government over these allocations, which appears contradictory.

Lokesh emphasized that the NDA government’s policy is transparent, merit-based, and focused on boosting employment and industrial growth, contrasting it with the political opportunism displayed by the YSRCP.

YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has unveiled a new digital platform called the “Digital Book”, a clear counter to Nara Lokesh’s viral “Red Book” initiative from the opposition days. While Lokesh’s Red Book highlighted alleged irregularities under the YSRCP government, Jagan’s Digital Book is designed to document harassment, false cases, and political injustice faced by YSRCP leaders and workers under the current TDP regime.

The platform enables party members to upload photos, videos, and documents in real-time via a mobile app or web portal. For those without internet access, a toll-free IVRS number allows grievances to be recorded and automatically uploaded.

Launching the initiative in Amaravati, Jagan said the platform would serve as a permanent record of every injustice faced by YSRCP members. He vowed that once the party returns to power, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) would probe each case: “No one will escape accountability—be it officials, police, or political rivals.”

Senior YSRCP leaders hailed the move as a “digital revolution”, giving party activists a tool to back their claims with evidence rather than just words. The app will also feature multi-language support, geo-tagging for precise mapping, and training programs for booth-level workers across Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan urged party cadres to stay alert and document every act of injustice: “Our time will come, and when it does, justice will be served double-fold.”

This incident raised a key question: Is the government truly monitoring movie revenues or simply turning a blind eye?

Benefit shows are often projected as fan-driven celebrations, but in reality, they push audiences to overspend. Similarly, permissions for extra shows and inflated ticket prices are often seen as government-endorsed perks for the film industry. While producers cite soaring star salaries, massive production budgets, and mounting expenses as reasons, the burden ultimately falls on moviegoers through ticket hikes.

Another major concern is taxation. Is GST being levied on the actual base ticket price or on the inflated one? Adding to the issue, premiere tickets are frequently sold offline at black-market rates, bypassing proper channels and escaping official scrutiny.

Meta has unveiled its 2025 Digital Utsav Festive Playbook, offering insights into how Indian consumers are increasingly leveraging AI, creators, and short-form video content to guide their festive purchases. Developed in collaboration with IPSOS, the report underscores the evolving consumer behaviour during India’s peak shopping season.

Key findings from the study reveal that 80% of festive shoppers used Generative AI for gift research and inspiration, while smartphones remain central, with nine out of ten consumers relying on mobile devices for festive purchases. Quick commerce is also gaining traction, with 45% of shoppers, particularly those aged 25–34, opting for rapid delivery apps.

Short-form videos, particularly Reels, have emerged as influential shopping tools, especially in categories like apparel and fashion. The report highlights that 65% of festive shoppers engaged with Meta apps, with Reels and personalized ads driving discovery and purchase decisions. Nearly half of consumers follow creators for guidance, and over 30% rely on creator reviews and buying guides to make informed decisions.

“Today, shoppers are turning to AI for inspiration, creators for credibility, and Reels for discovery. At Meta, our focus is on enabling businesses to meet these changing consumer expectations with innovative tools and solutions,” said Arun Srinivas, Managing Director & Country Head, Meta India.

The playbook also highlights distinct shopping patterns across consumer groups:

Gen Z (18–24 years) prioritizes discounts and promo codes.

Tier 2/3 city consumers adopt a blend of online and offline shopping, with 63% using local e-commerce platforms.

Mothers are highly active shoppers, with 44% making festive purchases via Meta platforms and frequently using messaging apps to complete transactions.

WhatsApp Expands Business Tools and Ads at Mumbai Summit

At its second annual WhatsApp Business Summit in Mumbai, the messaging giant unveiled a suite of tools designed to help businesses streamline customer interactions, boost discoverability, and improve support. The updates reinforce WhatsApp’s role as both a consumer app and a critical digital infrastructure for businesses and government services in India.

Small businesses can now accept payments directly within WhatsApp, with QR codes enabling instant transactions. This feature is aimed at helping sellers close sales faster and more securely.

WhatsApp is also rolling out in-app calling for businesses, letting users call customer service representatives or receive requested calls from larger companies. Voice and video calls will soon be supported, making WhatsApp a tool for industries such as telehealth and advanced customer support. Meta also confirmed that Business AI will work with these calls, allowing companies to scale support with virtual assistants.

With the new Centralised Campaigns in Ads Manager, businesses in India can now create and manage ads across WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram from one dashboard. The feature leverages Meta’s AI to optimise budgets and performance across placements.

The Status tab, used by over 1.5 billion people daily, is getting ad integrations. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Air India, and Flipkart are already running ads in Status, while popular creators and channels, including Jio Hotstar, are using promoted features. Ads and promotions will stay separate from personal chats and inboxes.

“We have been using WhatsApp extensively for driving business growth. Ads on WhatsApp Status will further help us drive discovery and sales of our products and services,” said Bhuvan Dheer, Executive Director, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Air India’s CMO Sunil Suresh added, “WhatsApp’s new Ads in status offering aligns with Air India’s vision of digital-first transformation, where advertising is not just about visibility, but about fostering real-time connections and elevating customer journeys.”

WhatsApp is also strengthening its role in public service delivery. State governments in Odisha, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are working with WhatsApp to offer citizen service chatbots. Andhra Pradesh’s “Mana Mitra” chatbot already provides access to over 700 services in multiple regional languages, used by 4 million citizens so far.

The H-1B process involves securing a sponsoring employer, filing a Labor Condition Application (LCA), and submitting Form I-129 to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Each year, 65,000 standard H-1B visas are issued, with an additional 20,000 reserved for advanced degree holders.

With the fee hike, students could face total expenses exceeding $100,000 when factoring in tuition, living costs, and legal filing fees. Immigration experts warn that this development could discourage prospective students from choosing the US as a study destination and may push graduates to explore alternative pathways, including STEM OPT extensions, additional graduate studies, or opportunities in other countries.

Experts recommend students start job searches early, stay in close contact with their Designated School Officials (DSOs), and closely monitor USCIS updates to avoid missing critical deadlines.
