How Indian Hiring Bias Is Leaving Americans Frustrated in Tech Jobs

A former Amazon USA employee has ignited debate on Reddit after alleging that some Indian managers foster a toxic work culture by favoring candidates from their own communities and exploiting visa dependencies.
The ex-employee claimed that Indians are often preferred in hiring decisions, with managers pushing them to work long hours due to their limited job mobility. By comparison, American workers, who are less willing to accept exploitation, are frequently overlooked. He noted that this pattern is not confined to Amazon, but is also visible in companies like Walmart and Intel.
“At Walmart, most hiring is dominated by Telugu managers — the key question often is ‘Are you Telugu?’ If yes, you’re in. Similarly, Intel managers tend to hire Gujaratis. My classmates even joined cricket games with Intel employees just to secure internships,” the user wrote.
Such favoritism, the post argued, alienates American employees. “Naturally, they’ll be upset seeing this. They are not stupid,” he added.
While the user clarified that his return to India was ultimately a personal choice influenced by family distance and visa issues, he stressed that his experience reflects a larger problem within sections of corporate America.
The post quickly drew responses, with others sharing similar anecdotes. One user lamented that those who exploit green card and citizenship loopholes “are never punished,” while another recalled a case where a manager openly hired someone purely because they were from the same caste.
Even some from the Telugu community admitted frustration, with one commenter stating their friends were also “fed up with this culture.”
Balancing the discussion, an American tech worker wrote: “I love my Indian coworkers, but the hiring and promotion process feels rigged. It’s damaging to teams and one of the biggest problems in company culture today.”
Sujeeth Confirms Cinematic Universe with OG

Cinematic universes are quickly becoming a trend in Indian cinema, with directors weaving multiple films into one larger storyline. South Indian cinema has already seen success in this space — Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Lokesh Cinematic Universe in Tamil and the Malayalam film Lokah both struck a chord with audiences and performed well at the box office. Naturally, Telugu film fans have been curious if Tollywood will explore a similar path, especially with Sujeeth’s highly anticipated film They Call Him OG.
Starring Pawan Kalyan, OG is set to release in just a few hours. The trailer sparked speculation about connections to Prabhas’ Saaho, as certain landmarks and visual cues seemed familiar. This fueled rumors of a shared cinematic universe, and now Sujeeth has officially confirmed them.
In a heartfelt note, Sujeeth expressed gratitude to his family, assistant directors, technicians, producers Danayya and Kalyan Dasari, composer Thaman, editor Navin Nooli, cinematographers Ravi K. Chandran and Manoj, along with the entire team. He urged fans to enjoy the film and dropped an exciting hint — calling OG just the beginning, while teasing the launch of the Sujeeth Cinematic Universe (SCU).
With this confirmation, audiences can look forward to more films under the SCU banner, potentially connecting Saaho, OG, and future projects into one grand narrative.

Suriya’s Staff Accused of Rs 42 Lakh Fraud

Chennai police are investigating a significant fraud case involving actor Suriya’s former domestic staff. The actor’s personal security officer, Anthony George Prabhu, reportedly lost Rs 42 lakh after being duped by Suriya’s domestic worker, Sulochana, and her family.
Authorities stated that the family convinced the officer to invest money with promises of high returns. To gain his trust, they initially returned 30 grams of gold when he sent Rs 1 lakh. Confident in their credibility, the officer transferred a total of Rs 42 lakh between January and February this year. However, when he requested repayment in March, the family disappeared.
Investigations revealed that this was not an isolated incident. The family is believed to have cheated multiple individuals in Chennai, reportedly accumulating close to Rs 2 crore. Upon learning of the fraud, Suriya immediately terminated the services of his domestic staff.
A formal complaint was filed in July, resulting in an FIR. Police have arrested four family members—Balaji, Bhaskar, Sulochana, and Vijayalakshmi—who all previously worked at Suriya’s residence. They are currently in judicial custody.
On the professional front, Suriya is busy with his 45th film, Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, which is slated for a Pongal release. He is also shooting for Suriya 46 with Venky Atluri.
Swati Chauhan Turns Filmmaker with Saira Khan Case

Former Principal Judge Swati Chauhan has made a striking entry into filmmaking with Saira Khan Case, a compelling drama inspired by a real case from her own courtroom. The film, co-written and co-directed with renowned filmmaker Karan Razdan—known for hits like Dilwale, Diljale, Deewane, Qayamat, Dushmani, and Trimurti—unveiled its official poster today. Scheduled for theatrical release on 10 October, it features Rajniesh Duggal, Poonam Dubey, Karan Razdan, Aradhana Sharma, Rajeev Verma, and Mukesh Tyagi in pivotal roles.
The story is rooted in Chauhan’s own judicial experience, portraying the struggle of a Muslim woman who is unilaterally divorced through triple talaq and separated from her children while her husband maintains four marriages. The film delves into the tension between personal religious law and India’s secular statutes—an issue Chauhan herself addressed in her landmark judgment.
“Certain systemic prejudices forced me to choose between privileges and principles. I chose principles and stepped away from judicial service,” Chauhan said. “But my commitment to justice remained unwavering, and cinema became my new courtroom.” After retiring voluntarily, she pursued a diploma in filmmaking to bring real-life courtroom stories to the big screen. Guided by Razdan, she transformed her judgment into a gripping cinematic narrative.
Chauhan emphasized the film’s fidelity to real events: “The essence of my 2014 judgment remains intact, though we’ve kept names, locations, and identifying details private. The verdict in the film mirrors key excerpts from my original ruling, with only minor creative adjustments. We have added characters, settings, and timelines, while also reflecting recent legal changes like the ban on talaq-e-biddat and ongoing Supreme Court cases on other forms of triple talaq. The core issue, however, is exactly as in the original case.”
The film is produced by Salim Lalani, Swati Chauhan, Nizar Lalani, Shamshu Pirani, Nimesh Patel, and Satish Bhanushali under the banner of Soul Films.
Roja Slams Pawan Kalyan Over Governance

Firebrand YSR Congress leader and former minister R.K. Roja once again unleashed her sharp criticism on the TDP-led coalition government, focusing particularly on Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Roja alleged that Pawan Kalyan was neglecting public issues and was primarily focused on his film commitments. “He shows no concern for farmers, women, or students. His only interest seems to be in film shootings like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and OG, benefit shows, and ticket collections,” she stated.
Highlighting what she described as his inaction, Roja claimed that Pawan Kalyan did not respond even when Dalits in his constituency faced attacks. “Did you enter politics just to pursue your film career?” she questioned, predicting that he may not even retain his deposit in the next elections. She added, “Pawan Kalyan spends most of his time in Hyderabad. What tangible work has he done for the people here?”
Roja also criticized the coalition government, pointing out that it shamelessly held the “Super Six” rally in Anantapur while abandoning election promises. She further demanded an explanation for the delay in implementing the promised Rs 1,500 scheme for women, pressing the government to take action.
