Shivaji Defends Telugu Film Industry, Slams Piracy, Backs Ticket Hikes

Share

Actor Shivaji, who returned to the spotlight earlier this year with the Telugu courtroom drama Court, recently spoke out on issues surrounding film piracy and the perception of luxury in the film industry. Commenting on the arrest of Immadi Ravi, the operator of the notorious iBomma piracy website, Shivaji emphasized that legal authorities will handle such cases and that anyone breaking India’s laws will face appropriate consequences.

In a broader interview, Shivaji defended the Telugu film industry, noting that the vast majority—around 95%—of its members live modest, ordinary lives, while only a small fraction enjoy lavish lifestyles. He criticized the tendency to generalize and tarnish the entire industry based on the actions of a few individuals.

The actor, known for hits like Kushi (2001), also defended cinema ticket price hikes, comparing them to fare increases in public transport during peak demand. He further pointed out that strong, quality content can attract audiences even to low-budget films.

Smriti Mandhana Deletes Wedding Posts After Sudden Postponement

Share

Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has drawn attention with sudden changes to her social media following the indefinite postponement of her wedding. The ceremony, scheduled for Sunday in Sangli, Maharashtra, was called off after her father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack hours before the event.

On Monday morning, Smriti deleted all Instagram posts related to her engagement and pre-wedding festivities, including the heartwarming proposal video with her fiancé Palash Muchhal. Surprisingly, some of her teammates, including Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil, also removed videos associated with the announcement of her wedding. Her past photos with Palash, however, remain intact.

Meanwhile, Palash Muchhal was briefly hospitalized for acidity issues but was discharged after minor treatment. Smriti’s sudden deletion of posts has sparked widespread speculation among fans and media, with many wondering if it was due to superstition, the health emergencies, or personal reasons.

Right-Wing Critics Claim The Family Man 3 Promotes Anti-National Narrative

Share

The Prime Video series The Family Man 3 has sparked controversy, with right-wing groups and supporters alleging that the show carries an anti-national agenda. Critics argue that the series portrays India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) as ineffective, while a drug peddler with Myanmar links is shown as intelligent and powerful. The show also depicts several “black sheep” within the NIA, further fueling criticism.

Although the series has received praise for its performances, detractors claim it portrays China, Pakistan, and Myanmar as having superior intelligence systems compared to India. The show features a fictional female Prime Minister named Basu and key officials, including the Defense Advisor, External Affairs Minister, and a senior military officer, who are shown frequently arguing and lacking coordination—depicted as disrespectful and negatively critical.

One viewer commented, “This series seems to be made with an anti-national motive or blindly follows a script written by someone with such intentions.” Critics warn that the portrayal of India’s leadership and agencies could influence viewers’ perception of the country’s governance and intelligence apparatus.

Legendary Hindi cinema actor Dharmendra has passed away at the age of 89. The beloved star—adored across generations—had recently been discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on November 12 after undergoing treatment. At the time, doctors had stated that he was stable and recovering at home.

Dr. Rajiv Sharma of Breach Candy Hospital had earlier told IANS that Dharmendra left the hospital “fully satisfied” with the treatment and that all arrangements had been made for his home care. He urged the public not to spread misinformation and instead pray for the actor’s recovery, hoping he would celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8.

However, sources had earlier indicated that Dharmendra’s condition was critical on November 10, with the actor being placed on life support. Prior to this, he had been kept under strict medical observation since October 31.

His superstardom continued through the 1970s and 1980s with a string of blockbusters including Ankhen, Shikar, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Sholay, Pratiggya, Dharam Veer, Chupke Chupke, The Burning Train, and many more.

He was set to appear next in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, also starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher, scheduled for release in December.

Dharmendra leaves behind an unparalleled legacy, remembered as one of Hindi cinema’s most enduring, admired, and cherished stars.

The event, held at Vimal 70MM Theatre in Hyderabad, was packed with Prabhas fans even though the star himself couldn’t attend. While addressing the crowd, a few of Maruthi’s comments were perceived by Jr NTR fans as an indirect dig, leading to widespread criticism on X.

India Nominates M. Revathi for Top ITU Leadership Role

Share

India has officially nominated M. Revathi, Joint Wireless Adviser in the Department of Telecommunications’ Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing, for the position of Director of the Telecommunication Standardisation Bureau (TSB) at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the 2027–2030 term.

Revathi, a seasoned expert in telecommunications and space technology, is one of several global contenders from France, Japan, Germany and other countries announced during the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The position she seeks plays a pivotal role in shaping international telecom standards and regulatory frameworks, especially as digital infrastructure worldwide undergoes rapid and complex transformation.

Her nomination comes at a crucial time, with competition in satellite communications intensifying. As private giants like Starlink and Amazon’s Project Kuiper accelerate satellite deployments, experts caution that orbital access—legally a shared resource under the Outer Space Treaty of 1967—is increasingly being consolidated by corporations in developed nations. This shift risks deepening the digital divide and constraining equitable access for developing economies.

Speaking at the High-Level Segment on Day 1 of WTDC-25, Minister of State for Communications, C.S. Pemmasani, described India’s bid as a strategic move to strengthen the voice of the Global South. He emphasized India’s role as a connector between developed and developing nations, underscoring the importance of equitable technology access and frameworks that support meaningful technology transfer to low- and middle-income countries.

With the ITU’s election cycle now underway, final voting will take place at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) in Doha, Qatar, in November 2026. The election outcome is expected to influence global digital governance and guide how countries protect their digital sovereignty in the years ahead.

Nothing OS 4.0 Brings AI Tools, Enhanced Glyph Features, and a Refined Android 16 Experience

Share

Nothing has started the public rollout of Nothing OS 4.0, its Android 16–based software update designed to deliver a cleaner interface, improved system coherence, and the first wave of AI-driven creative features through the new Essential Apps framework. Built on the foundations of OS 3.0, the update stays true to Nothing’s minimalist design language while elevating overall fluidity, intelligence, and user experience.

One of the standout additions is Live Updates via the Glyph Interface. Real-time delivery, ride, or timer information can now be displayed simultaneously on the screen and the Glyph lights, enabling at-a-glance progress tracking without opening an app. Any application supporting Android 16’s Live Updates is automatically compatible with Glyph Progress, greatly expanding utility for users.

Nothing OS 4.0 also debuts an enhanced Extra Dark Mode, improving contrast and reducing power consumption across the system. The feature now extends to first-party apps such as Essential Space and Launcher, with wider support under development.

System animations have been refined to feel more responsive and immersive. Touch interactions, swipes, and gestures gain added depth, while app transitions now feature subtle background scaling for a more cohesive sense of movement. Volume adjustments include soft haptic cues at maximum and minimum levels.

The update expands widget functionality with new 1×1 and 2×1 layouts for Weather, Pedometer, and Screen Time. A redesigned Pop-up View enables two floating apps to run simultaneously, with easy gesture-based switching. A new Hidden Icons feature offers a cleaner home screen by allowing users to conceal selected apps within the App Drawer.

For Phone (3) users, exclusive enhancements include upgraded Flip to Glyph controls, improved Pocket Mode, new interactive Glyph Toys such as Hourglass and Lunar Cycle, and a Glyph Mirror Selfie feature that saves both original and mirrored versions.

Nothing is also introducing a major expansion of Nothing Playground. Using the new AI-powered Widget Builder, users can describe an idea and instantly generate a custom Essential App. These creations are organised within the newly introduced Widget Drawer, which consolidates all built and collected tools into a unified, streamlined space.

Nothing OS 4.0 is rolling out first to Phone (3), with wider availability for other Nothing and CMF devices expected soon.
