Covid-19: Telangana CS Sweats It Out Before HC
From the beginning the Telangana High Court has been finding fault with the Telangana government in handling the Covid-19 crisis. The other day the High Court expressed its deep disappointment as the government was not implementing the orders and so the court has summoned Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and health department officials for their personal presence.
Today, the CS and officials graced before the High Court and on this occasion, the court shot many questions at them. Unable to answer the court, CS Somesh Kumar had to really sweat it out. On the rapid testing kits, CS informed that court there are 2 Lakh testing kits and have ordered another 4 Lakh kits.
However, the Telangana High Court replied to CS that Rajasthan and a few states have stopped using rapid testing kits. Further the court questioned why the government is not doing adequate tests and for this CS had no answer. Adding the court said, “Follow the guidelines of WHO and ICMR in testing. The bulletin should be released daily and make sure no mistakes creep in it.”
Yet the High Court was not satisfied with CS and health officials’ response and so it has summoned them again to appear before the court on August 13th.
Overall, the Telangana High Court has issued an indirect warning to CS Somesh Kumar and health officials that it would take severe action, if failed to abide by the latest orders.
Actor Raavi Kondala Rao Dies of Heart Attack
Renowned actor Raavi Kondala Rao, 88, died following a heart attack on Tuesday.
Raavi Kondala Rao worked in 600 films essaying roles of father, grandfather, and other character roles in most films.
He began his career in the 1950s. In a career spanning six decades, he established himself as an accomplished character actor. His first film was ‘Shoba’ in 1958.
His journey with films has been quite long and he penned several books on the old films right from the silent era.
His last film as per the present records in Ram Gopal Varma’s “365 Days”. He is known for huge sense of humor both in speaking and writing.
His wife Radha Kumari, also a popular actress, passed away in 2012. Ravi Kondal Rao has a son named Shashi Kumar.
Tene Manasulu (1965), Ali Baba 40 Dongalu (1970), Andala Ramudu (1973), Pelli Pustakam (1991), Brundavanam (1993), Madam (1994), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Radha Gopalam (2005), and Varudu (2010) were some of his notable films.
Many seniors in the film industry are shocked to know this sudden news.Greatandhra extends condolences to the bereaved family.
We’re Not Hiding Corona Cases – CM Jagan
Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy stated that his administration is showing transparency in Covid-19 cases in the state. He said the government is neither showing less nor hiding the Covid cases in the state and said it is reporting the actual numbers.
He reiterated that AP is the first state in the country which has done the highest number of Covid tests. He said AP stands first in the country by conducting over 50,000 Covid tests on a daily basis.
He added that the state is doing 31,000 tests per every million and setting a new example. CM said 90 percent of these Covid tests are being done in the Covid cluster zones.
CM Jagan has conducted a high-level review meeting with district collectors and SPs. He appreciated the officials for working hard in these critical times. He reiterated that Covid will come and go, but people has to survive with it.
He noted that out of 1 lakh Covid cases recorded in the state, more than half have been recovered. CM Jagan said that the death rate due to Covid in the country is 2.5 percent whereas the dead rate in AP is 1.06 percent. CM Jagan said about 85 percent have been recovered through self isolation and home quarantine.
CM Jagan made some recommendations to the officials. “Increase the awareness on Covid and the precautions need to be taken and the treatment. Ensure that the awareness posters are displayed at all the Grama Sachivalayam and Ward Sachivalayam offices. Thorough monitoring of the functioning of the call centers. Doctors supervision to the home-quarantined Covid patients. Regular visit of doctors to their homes and ensure whether they’re getting medicines on time or not. Optimal use of the 80,000 beds reserved for Covid treatment.”
‘I Will Not Reopen My Movie Theaters Now’
Exhibitors and trade circles are hoping that the Government will lift the existing restrictions on movie theatres from August 1st.
Senior film producer Suresh Babu who has more than four hundred theaters under lease across Telugu states says he wouldn’t reopen his theaters even if the restrictions are lifted.
“It is highly risky to open movie theaters at this point of time. It will put lives at risk as staying in movie theaters for three hours when the coronavirus cases are on the rise is extremely hazardous,” he opined.
“In China they had opened movie theaters after the number of cases went down, but they had closed them again. We have to take it as an example and shouldn’t think from the business perspective. Yes, we are incurring huge losses, but nothing comes before people’s health. I don’t think our Government will give permission to open movie theaters at this point,” Suresh said.
“Screening shows for a limited audience by selling one third or one fourth of capacity is not profitable for producers too. And if there is an instance or two where people got infected by going to a movie theatre then it would drive away audiences from cinemas for a longer time period. Hence, we should wait until the normalcy is restored.
Buzz: ‘Kick’ Shyam Booked For Gambling
Popular Tamil actor Shyam along with 11 others have been booked by the police for alleged gambling activity at his apartment in Chennai.
As per a report by NDTV, tokens used for gambling were recovered from the flat owned by Shaam.
Apparently, many other popular Tamil actors have been indulging in the illegal activity late nights in the lockdown. However, no other actor has been so far booked in any such activity.
The report further added that another actor who had lost a large sum while gambling at Shyam’s apartment had tipped off the police.
“Actor Shyam has been arrested along with 11 others. We are investigating the modus operandi over the use of tokens,” a senior police officer was quoted in the report by NDTV.
The police also said that a final-year undergraduate student recently killed himself after losing money in an online game.
Shyam, who is popular in Tamil and Telugu industries, was last seen on screen in Tamil film Kaaviyan, which released last year.
In 2001, he made his acting debut via Tamil film 12B. Since then, he has starred in several popular Tamil and Telugu films such as Iyarkai, Kick, 6, Race Gurram and Kick 2 among others.
Governor’s decision fixed on three capitals bill !
It seems like the conclusion on three capitals issue is not going to come soon. For the past 7 months, the YSRCP is struggling to make the capital decentralization bill come into force after using all their power in Legislative Assembly two times before they were pegged back by CBN in the council. Now, in order to use the constitutional power of the Governor in favor of their wishes, they forwarded the bill to Governor for his approval.
This capital issue is not as simple as it looks like and there are many legal issues connected to this which the governor is discussing with his judicial bench at the moment. The ruling and opposition’s perspective should also be taken into consideration. Most importantly, the BJP at the center also wants Amaravati as the state capital. Biswa Bhushan who has been with BJP in the past might consider this point too.
Now, the word is out that Governor is about to unveil his Plan-B. YSRCP can resend this bill to the governor if the governor rejects this bill this time, and the second time he will have no choice but to approve the bill according to the constitution. Except YSRCP, no party in the state is in favor of the decentralization of the state’s capital. Above all, this COVID pandemic has made all the things messy.
Hence, the word from Raj Bhavan is out that the Governor might intentionally delay his judgment to avoid unwanted uproar as YSRCP will definitely proceed to shift the capital to Vizag once it gets the approval without caring much about the COVID situation.
Nagarjuna’s next going the OTT way?
We have been hearing that movie theaters might be reopened in the month of August on the condition that they should run with 25% occupancy. However, noted Telugu producers are ruling out the possibility of new releases as the theatrical business is unpredictable now. This might encourage the producers in the Telugu film industry to give their respective films a direct OTT release.
Incidentally, even Nagarjuna’s upcoming film ‘Wild Dog’ might be going the OTT way. The makers of the film are in talks with Amazon Prime and a deal will be finalized soon.
Only a small portion of the film is left to be shot and it will be wrapped up in a single schedule. The producers are contemplating the right time period to wrap up the final schedule.
Meanwhile, the producers are in favor of giving this film a direct OTT release. They are yet to receive a lucrative offer from Amazon Prime and negotiations are underway. A decision will be taken shortly.
Nagarjuna will be seen as ACP Vijay Varma, an NIA agent in ‘Wild Dog’. Ashishor Solomon is directing this film which is based on true incidents. Niranjan Reddy, and Anvesh Reddy are producing the film.
The makers of Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Miss India’, Anushka’s ‘Nishabdham’, and a few other Telugu films are also in talks with OTT platforms.
Nara Lokesh questions on Garbage vehicle as ambulance in AP
YSRC promoted the launch of new 108 ambulances few days back and assured the public that the health of the common man is the highest priority. Unfortunately, none of the ambulances came for rescue when a common man requested for one and he was taken to the hospital in a garbage vehicle. This incident took place in Bhimavaram, West Godavari region.
Responding to this TDP leader Nara Lokesh pointed out the YSRC Government saying that if a politician encounters Covid-19, Government will provide corporate hospital facilities and flights while for common people it is garbage vehicles. Nara Lokesh questioned on the justice in the state for the common man. He mentioned that the people didn’t vote for YSRC to see this sort of injustice.
Nara Lokesh finalized that the Ambulance is for the YSRC publicity and in reality it is the garbage vehicle for the common man.
Nithin Planning A Working Honeymoon In Europe
Hero Nithin is happily married to his longtime beau Shalini and currently, the duo are looking forward to heading for a honeymoon. And if all goes well, then it will be a working honeymoon for the actor we hear.
Apparently Nithin’s upcoming film Rang De, which is being directed by Venky Atluri of Tholiprema fame, has nearly 20% shoot pending they say. And now, the team is looking forward to going to Europe such that they will wrap shooting of songs and some scenes as well.
During the same trip, Nithin will be accompanied by his wife as well, such that they could enjoy their newly married life. The makers are said to be planning to go with a limited crew and get a maximum result.
However, as the ban on international travel in India is in place from March 23 and extended till July 31, we have to see if there will be any change of plans from Govt Of India. Only then, Nithin would be able to implement his working honeymoon plan. Otherwise, there is no way shooting could be done in Europe.
CBI shifts Viveka murder case to Kadapa
Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, former MP and also the uncle of Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was a close aide of Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy’s and of Jagan’s as well. Sadly, he was killed last year,in his own house, by a group of unidentified people.
This case was initially being investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was appointed by the previous government. However, after Vivekananda’s wife filed a petition in the High Court, stating that SIT has failed to properly investigate the case, the case was then handed over to the CBI.
A few days ago, the CBI questioned Vivekananda’s wife and daughter, at their house in Pulivendula, and also searched the house for any kind of evidence or clues. Of the 17 names that were mentioned by Viveka’s daughter, Dr. Sunitha, in the petition submitted to the High Court, 5 have already been investigated by the CBI in Pulivendula.
The remaining members are to be investigated in Kadapa, probably on Thursday.
In her written petition, Dr. Sunitha mentioned the names of Rangaiah, driver Prasad Yerragangi Reddy, Parameswara Reddy, A Krishna Reddy, Udayakumar Reddy, D Sivasankar Reddy, Srinivasulu Reddy (committed suicide), Y S Bhaskar Reddy, Y S Manohar Reddy, Y S Avinash Reddy, Sankaraiah (CI), Ramakrishna Reddy (ASI), Surendranath Reddy, C Adinarayana Reddy (former minister) B Tech Ravi (former MLC), Surendra Reddy. She mentioned their names, identifying them as the prime suspects in the murder of her father.
Of the aforementioned 17 people, the CBI has already enquired watchman Rangaiah, driver Prasad, Y Gangi Reddy, Krishna Reddy, Parameswara Reddy in Pulivendula. With the rest being enquired in Kadapa, many are wondering what the reason could be, behind shifting the base to Kadapa, from Pulivendula.
#MeeraLeaks Targets Star Heroine Trisha
You have heard about #SuchiLeaks earlier, where tweets coming from the account of singer Suchitra have stunned the whole of Kollywood as they have threatened to leak some compromising videos of big stars like Dhanush and Amala Paul. And now comes #MeeraLeaks in a similar way.
This time, Meera Mithun, a supermodel from Chennai who enjoys a fantastic fan following on Instagram, is now blasting former superstar Trisha Krishnan saying that the latter spoiled her career. In a video message and tweets, Meera stated that Trisha rose to a heroine from being side actress by sleeping around.
Also, she accused that Trisha is caste fanatic and used her upper-caste card to suppress many actresses like her. Meera accused that Trisha is responsible for the chopping of her roles in films like Ajith’s Yennai Arindaal and Rajnikanth’s Petta.

RGV’s Next Film On Allu Aravind?
Filmmaker RGV has prepared a big list. He is planning to make films on various topics. He is making films one after another going by the list.
He has already made films on Rayalaseema factionism to Bezawada rowdyism and he touched the subject of NTR as well. Now he is making waves in the newfound online space with different content.
He made a film on hero Pawan Kalyan with the title ‘Power Star’. He is presently working on a film based on Amrutha-Maruthi Rao’s episode.
There is a talk that the shooting incident that happened in Balakrishna house is also one of the films on RGV’s list. When it will be made and when it will release? These things are yet to be known.
The latest we hear that he is planning ‘Allu-Bava-Bavamaridi’ movie. He has reportedly chosen the backdrop of Megastar, Allu Aravind, and Praja Rajyam party affairs for this ‘work of fiction’.
There were gossips that Allu Aravind had a role in the failure of Praja Rajyam. We don’t know how RGV is going to present Allu Aravind in the film. But the close sources to Varma say that this film is on his list.
Is RGV making the film because it is an interesting topic or he got upset with the Allu Aravind camp for skipping the ‘Power Star’ on Shreyas ET? No one knows the exact answer.
Well, this film is also a big challenge for Shreyas because they can’t stream it on Shreyas ET like ‘Power Star’.
