Ravi’s Arrest Sparks Outrage: Public Questions Film Industry’s Role in High Ticket Prices

Share

It is known that iBomma operator Emandi Ravi has been arrested and is currently being interrogated. Hyderabad City Commissioner C. V. Sajjanar held a press conference alongside prominent film personalities such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Dil Raju, and Suresh Babu. They addressed concerns around online piracy, the impact on the industry, and the warnings that must be conveyed to the public.

Surprisingly, a massive wave of public support has emerged for Ravi on social media. Images and comments have portrayed him as a hero, including a viral picture of a policeman unable to beat him because he is “addicted to films on his piracy site.” Many users expressed frustration over high theatre prices and the escalating cost of moviegoing. They argued that families are burdened by expensive tickets and overpriced snacks, making legal entertainment unaffordable for many.

At the same press meet, director S. S. Rajamouli reportedly stated that Ravi is not doing any “sanga seva.” This comment sparked strong reactions online, with many questioning whether Rajamouli himself does any service for the public. Several pointed out that he is widely criticized as one of the key figures responsible for extreme ticket hikes and the commercialization of cinema that has placed a heavy financial burden on viewers. People argued that nearly 70% of a film’s budget now goes toward the remuneration of big stars and directors, including Rajamouli himself. Many commented that if he truly wishes to perform “sanga seva,” he should start by reducing his and his heroes’ remuneration, create quality films within reasonable budgets, and ensure ticket prices are affordable for the common public. In their view, asking why Ravi is not doing sanga seva is ironic when the industry itself has not demonstrated such service.

Meanwhile, online reactions continued. Some users insisted that Ravi is doing more for the poor than the film industry ever has, claiming he provides access to entertainment for those who cannot spend ₹300–₹500 per ticket. Many contrasted this with OTT platforms available to the wealthy while the poor rely on sites like iBomma. Others reminisced about scenes from movies like Tagore, stating that society is supporting Ravi because they see him as someone fighting for the common man. Comments described him as a real hero compared to actors who earn crores yet contribute little to public welfare. Many lamented that good people never get good days, arguing that Ravi, who helped the common man, is arrested while those involved in larger scams or political injustices continue to thrive.

Authorities, however, warned against the romanticization of piracy. Police officials highlighted that piracy websites not only cause massive financial losses to the film sector but also pose severe cyber risks, as user data is often sold on the dark web. They reiterated that although families turn to piracy due to the high costs and pressures of theatre visits, piracy cannot be justified. It harms creators, weakens the entertainment ecosystem, and endangers user privacy.

Ultimately, the press conference revealed a deep disconnect between public sentiment and industry expectations. While the film industry accuses piracy of causing losses, the public counters that unaffordable ticket prices, inflated budgets, and disproportionate remunerations are what push people toward platforms like iBomma in the first place. The debate continues to grow, fueled by frustration, economic reality, and the widening gap between common audiences and the industry that claims to serve them.

Upasana Kamineni on Modern Women: Careers, Independence, and Marriage

Upasana Kamineni Konidela’s candid views are fueling an important national dialogue on the modern Indian woman’s approach to career and marriage. In a recent social media post, the outspoken advocate highlighted that today’s women are prioritizing careers, financial independence, and personal growth, choosing to marry based on genuine connection rather than societal pressure.

Building on her earlier advocacy on issues such as marital instability and domestic abuse, Upasana emphasized the importance of securing one’s personal and financial future. She stated, “Career and marriage can absolutely coexist — but decisions must be made on one’s own terms,” underlining self-reliance while respecting the value of family.

Experts note that her perspective reflects a broader progressive shift: young women are increasingly focused on financial independence, mental and physical well-being, and approaching marriage as a true partnership. Upasana often links financial stability to improved health outcomes and greater personal agency, reinforcing the idea that women should feel empowered to define their own goals and timelines for a fulfilling life.

Her latest post serves as a catalyst for meaningful conversations about the evolving priorities of modern women, highlighting a thoughtful and clear-minded approach to balancing ambition, personal growth, and relationships.

Gunasekhar’s IMAX Dream for Rudhramadevi Paved the Way for Varanasi

Share

Seasoned director Gunasekhar, renowned for Okkadu and his signature larger-than-life storytelling, once envisioned presenting his historical epic Rudhramadevi in IMAX. Around 2012, he reportedly held discussions with Prasad IMAX management to mount the film as a visual spectacle that could match international standards.

“Rudhramadevi was his dream project, and he wanted to showcase the warrior queen’s story in a grand, never-before-seen format using IMAX technology,” reveals a source close to the development.

The team had initially estimated a budget of around ₹15 crore for the IMAX upgrade alone. However, with only a limited number of IMAX screens in Hyderabad, Chennai, and a few other metros at that time, the plan was eventually shelved. Gunasekhar went on to make the film in a regular format, which later earned both critical appreciation and commercial success.

Fast forward to 2025, ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has announced that his upcoming film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, will be shot in IMAX and released in an extended IMAX version nationwide. “India currently has around 34 IMAX theatres, and this number is expected to grow by 2027. A highly anticipated film like Varanasi is likely to further expand IMAX’s footprint across India and globally,” adds the source.

This marks a significant shift in Indian cinema, as filmmakers increasingly explore premium formats to enhance the cinematic experience and reach a wider audience.

Rajasekhar to Reunite with Ramya Krishna in Telugu Remake of Lubbar Pandhu

Share

Veteran actor Rajasekhar has faced a challenging couple of years at the box office, with films like Deyyam and Shekhar failing to make an impact. After taking a long break, he is now gearing up for a comeback with the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster Lubbar Pandhu.

The original film centers around rural cricket, intense rivalries, and a love story that drives the drama. Rajasekhar is hopeful that the Telugu adaptation will recreate the magic.
In this remake, he will reprise the role originally played by Dinesh. Vishwadev Rachakonda, known for Pittagoda and 35, has been cast in a key role. Rajasekhar’s daughter will make her debut as the female lead, while Ramya Krishna steps into the role originally performed by Swasika.

This reunion of Rajasekhar and Ramya Krishna has already generated excitement among fans. The pair share a cinematic history dating back to the 1993 hit Allari Priyudu, which was a major success with memorable songs, awards, and remakes in other languages. They also worked together in films like Dirghasumangalibhava and Balaramakrishnulu. However, after 1998, the duo did not appear together in films—making this upcoming project their first on-screen reunion in over 25 years, evoking nostalgia among audiences.

The director for the Telugu remake is yet to be officially confirmed, though speculation suggests that Jeevitha, Rajasekhar’s wife and the director of his last film Shekhar, could take charge. Fans eagerly await the official announcement as anticipation builds around this highly anticipated comeback.

Varanasi: Rajamouli’s Big Test Beyond Telugu Audiences

Share

S.S. Rajamouli is undoubtedly a marketing and content genius and a pride of Indian cinema. However, one thing he seems to have realized over time is that his core audience remains primarily Telugu, while reception in other languages can be unpredictable.

The massive success of Baahubali across multiple languages made him a national icon, but that was a one-off phenomenon. His subsequent blockbuster, RRR, gained significant traction mainly in Telugu, while other languages did not respond as strongly as they did to Baahubali.

Now, with Varanasi, the title teaser launch was held exclusively in Hyderabad, indicating that Rajamouli may have recognized that his events draw massive crowds locally but not elsewhere. International and Bollywood media were invited, but it remains unclear what impact these interviews and promotions will have outside the Telugu-speaking audience.

Box-office numbers reinforce this reality. When Baahubali: The Epic was released, its performance in North America from non-Telugu South Indian audiences was disappointing: Tamil grossed only $2,000, Malayalam a mere $100, while Hindi collected $64,000. In contrast, Telugu audiences contributed a whopping $867,000. These figures highlight that Rajamouli’s core fan base is predominantly Telugu.

The success of Baahubali worked because of its universal appeal—a gripping story, strong emotions, and groundbreaking VFX for its time. However, audiences today are accustomed to advanced VFX and AI effects, meaning visual spectacle alone may no longer guarantee pan-India or international success.

Varanasi is a critical test for Rajamouli. The teaser suggests a style reminiscent of Kalki 2898 AD, but replicating the same approach risks audience fatigue. Fans are unlikely to respond with the same awe to a similar visual experience twice.

The challenge for Rajamouli lies in surpassing his own standards with each project. For Varanasi to succeed widely, it must be rooted in strong storytelling and emotional depth, not merely imaginative visuals. It will be fascinating to see whether Rajamouli can once again push the boundaries of Indian cinema while staying grounded in the elements that first earned him his loyal audience.

Bhagyashree Borse Gears Up for Andhra King Taluka

Share

Bhagyashree Borse is an actress who seamlessly blends beauty with talent. She made her Telugu debut with Mr. Bachchan, a period drama that showcased her grace and screen presence through its songs, making her an instant favorite even before the film’s release. Unfortunately, the film failed at the box office.
She was next seen in Kingdom, another period drama starring Vijay Deverakonda. However, her role was limited, giving her little scope to display her abilities, and the film too ended up underperforming commercially.

Her following project, Kaantha, set in the 1950s and paired with Dulquer Salmaan, provided her ample opportunity to explore varied shades in her performance. Bhagyashree delivered her role convincingly, yet luck did not favor her, as the film also failed to make a mark at the box office.

A recurring theme in Bhagyashree’s career so far has been her association with period dramas, complete with vintage makeup and costumes. Despite delivering strong performances, all three of her consecutive period-backdrop films struggled commercially.

Now, she is gearing up for Andhra King Taluka, another period drama scheduled for release on November 27. Audiences are hopeful that this project will finally bring her the success she deserves and mark her as part of a hit venture.

Divya Bharathi Slams Director Over ‘Chilaka’ Comment in Goat

Share

“Goat,” an upcoming Telugu film starring Sudigali Sudheer, has recently been in the news due to controversy surrounding its original director, Narresh K Lee. Reports suggest that the director has been removed from the project, which recently resumed production without him.

The situation escalated after Narresh K Lee reportedly made a derogatory comment about the film’s heroine, Divya Bharathi, referring to her as “Chilaka” on social media platform X. Divya found the remark offensive and publicly addressed it.

Divya Bharathi, who has occasionally been linked to controversies in the past, clarified that she responded only because she was unnecessarily dragged into the spotlight. She stated, “Calling women ‘Chilaka’ or any other term isn’t a harmless joke; it’s a reflection of deep-rooted misogyny. This wasn’t a one-off incident; this director repeatedly disrespected women on set, betraying the very art he claims to create. What disappointed me most was seeing the hero remain silent, allowing this culture to continue. I choose workspaces where women aren’t targets for mockery, where every voice matters, and respect is non-negotiable. This is my standard as an artist and as a woman.”

Further defending her stance, Divya added, “For those claiming I ‘always have issues’ with teams, facts matter. I’ve worked repeatedly with the same actors and crews in Tamil cinema without conflicts. Only this particular director crossed the line with disrespectful comments. He chose to make it public, and I have every right to respond. If anyone wants to defend that behavior, that’s their choice. I’m not losing sleep over it.”

The actress has received overwhelming support from netizens, while the director has remained silent about the ongoing situation or the future of the project.

Lokesh Reaches Out to YCP-Era Investors for AP Growth

Share

The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has been actively attracting new investments to the state. However, the YCP has been attempting to dilute these efforts by claiming that many of the companies currently engaging with the state had already signed MoUs during their tenure. This, many say, is a clear attempt to take credit for the NDA government’s accomplishments.

Despite this, IT Minister Nara Lokesh has maintained a transparent stance. He has repeatedly asked YCP leaders to present the MoUs they claim to have signed and even stated that he would gladly acknowledge their efforts if they genuinely contributed to the state’s progress.

Taking a step further, Lokesh has now begun reaching out directly to the companies that reportedly signed agreements during the previous YCP government’s tenure. His approach is simple: ensure the collective development of Andhra Pradesh, irrespective of which government initiated the process.

Unlike the YCP regime, which was widely criticized for dismantling the investment ecosystem built by the TDP in 2014, Lokesh is taking the opposite route. He is attempting to revive whatever few investment opportunities emerged during YCP’s governance. Experts point out that the YCP had limited focus on youth employment and industrial growth and managed very few substantial MoUs. Lokesh, however, is leaving no opportunity unused, aiming to secure every possible investment for the state.

Addressing the matter, Lokesh stated:
“Government is a continuous institution. Parties may come and go, but the responsibility to support industry and honour commitments is permanent. We have already reached out to investors who signed MoUs with the previous government, and we are actively providing them with an enabling, trustworthy environment. Policy continuity is essential for investor confidence, and we are fully committed to ensuring it.”

This proactive and responsible approach from Lokesh is being widely praised—exactly the kind of leadership expected from an IT Minister dedicated to the state’s long-term growth.
