YS Jagan and Cousin Sunitha Reddy Avoid Each Other at CBI Court

A striking incident unfolded at the Nampalli CBI court today as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy arrived to attend the hearing in his disproportionate assets case. He reportedly came face-to-face with his cousin, YS Sunitha Reddy, under tense circumstances.

Sunitha Reddy has been approaching the CBI court to expedite the investigation into the murder of her father, Vivekanand Reddy, and has, for some time, alleged involvement of people close to Jagan. This family feud led Jagan to cut off all relations with Sunitha’s family.

Today, amidst this high-intensity backdrop, Jagan and Sunitha were at the same court premises. As expected, the two avoided any interaction, taking separate paths to prevent contact. Ideally, family members might have supported Jagan in such cases, but the irony lies in the fact that his own cousin is pursuing legal action against individuals reportedly close to him, such as Avinash Reddy.

Sunitha had earlier appealed to Jagan for compassion, but her requests reportedly did not yield any response from the YCP chief. The encounter at the CBI court today highlighted the deep divisions within the family and the continuing tension surrounding the case.

During the promotions of the ETv Win-produced film Raju Weds Rambayi, hero Shivaji opened up about the challenges of portraying real-life stories on screen. He said, “Shooting realistic stories is always challenging. We wanted to show how today’s generation in rural villages behaves—auto drivers, employees’ daughters, couples, and friends who encourage them. These characters exist in every village. We aimed to bring this real-life story to the screen, and it was certainly a challenging effort for ETv Win.”

Shivaji further explained, “The director conveyed his point strongly, though some people may have doubts or questions about how certain events unfold. But if you trust the story and present it honestly, no film can ever disappoint. Often, when watching a movie, audiences may respond casually or focus only on the climax. But genuine audience reactions are different. Raju Weds Rambayi is receiving that kind of response.”

He also added, “Stories like this would run for 300 days if made in Malayalam. Today, Telugu audiences have also evolved and appreciate such narratives. This is not a sad-ending story. The director has brought the rural mindset to the screen very realistically. To bring such a story to life, it takes guts—not just from the director but also from the actors. Everyone involved trusted the ETv team, and I liked it. I recommend everyone watch it.”

Shivaji praised the film’s music, saying, “Suresh Bobbili’s songs are melodious, and the lead actors have performed well. Other artists, including Anita Chowdary and her husband, delivered remarkable performances.”

Starring Akhil Raj and Tejaswini, Raju Weds Rambayi is set for a grand theatrical release on November 21. The film is presented to audiences under the banners of Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas and is directed by Sailu Kompati. The story is based on a real incident that occurred between Warangal and Khammam districts.

Marudhanayagam remains one of the most ambitious and iconic unfinished projects in Indian cinema, a dream cherished by Kamal Haasan’s fans and movie lovers alike. Following the massive success of Indian in 1996, Kamal embarked on this pan-India historical epic under his own direction, with Ilaiyaraaja composing the music. The film’s launch at Madras Film City was a grand affair, attended by Queen Elizabeth and then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, and garnered extensive media attention.

However, after two years of shooting, the project ran into obstacles. A Hollywood production partner withdrew, and securing the enormous budget—then estimated at around ₹50 crore—proved impossible. Recovering such a sum with standard ticket prices would have required the film to become a global blockbuster.

The cast of Marudhanayagam was stellar, featuring Vishnuvardhan, Sathyaraj, Naasar, Amrish Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Pasupathy, and Gautami. Rumors also suggested that Kamal approached Aishwarya Rai and Kate Winslet during the early stages. He invested heavily in research and pre-production, traveling across India and abroad to ensure authenticity.

Despite his efforts, the project was officially shelved in 1999. Kamal made several attempts over the years to revive it, but nothing materialized, and fans gradually accepted that the film might never see the light of day.

Now, more than two decades later, Kamal has hinted at the possibility of reviving Marudhanayagam using modern technology. In a recent interaction with journalists, he suggested that completing the film could be feasible. Old footage resurfacing online—including a clip of Kamal riding a real bull for the film—has reignited excitement among fans, who are sharing it as proof that he accomplished stunts and feats long before contemporary films like Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi. Once again, hope is alive that this legendary project might finally come to life.

Recently, Pooja Hegde’s name was also considered for Dhansh’ next film, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. Initially, the team wanted Pooja as the lead actress, but for reasons unknown, the role ultimately went to Sai Pallavi. Pooja’s fans feel her “bad luck” continues, as opportunities she seemed almost confirmed for tend to slip away at the last moment. Sai Pallavi, who had already worked with Dhansh in Maari 2, where the Rowdy Baby song became a sensational hit, grabbed the chance instead.

Currently, Sai Pallavi is busy in Bollywood, starring in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana as Sita, aiming to impress audiences with her performance. She hasn’t been doing many Telugu or Tamil films lately; after Tandem, she hasn’t signed any major Telugu projects. Since Ramayana is a high-budget film, she has allocated all her dates to it.
