Varma’s Adult Stuff Is Not Exciting Netizens; Here’s Why

Share

Director Ram Gopal Varma used to grab all the attention of big TV channels and happening celebrities with his tweets. But during the lockdown, the producer is not able to turn attention towards him. And then, his ‘adult stuff’ is not exciting even his hardcore fans too. Here comes an interesting snippet.

Back then, when all the celebs are busy with work, Varma’s hyperactive behaviour on social media pages like Twitter used to get into the spotlight. Now that every celebrity is free and everyone is engaging their fans on Twitter, Varma’s tweets are not able to become a talking point. That’s the first reason why he is not able to divert attention towards him.

And then, he has come up with the teaser of a film titled “Climax”, which has porn star Mia Malkova in the lead. Despite the fact that Mia appeared almost nude in the teaser, none is talking about it. There is a reason behind this too. When top starlets like Radhika Apte are doing nude in content-driven movies, who is going to watch Varma’s routine films that have only nudity as selling point?

These are the days where audiences won’t fall for Ice Creams and Bezawadas as they are watching much better content on OTT platforms.

HC Reopens Rishiteshwari Suicide Case!

Share

Remember Rishiteshwari, a student of architecture in Nagarjuna University, whose suicide in her hostel room of Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district in 2015 created ripples in Telugu states?

The Andhra Pradesh high court on Friday directed that Rishiteshwari suicide case be investigated under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as she was still a minor at the time of the incident.

High court judge Justice Ch Manavendranath Roy directed a special court for POCSO cases in Guntur to complete the trial on the charge sheet filed by the police within six months.

The high court found fault with the POCSO special court for not taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the police against the accused in the case under the Act.

The judge said the victim was below 18 years of age at the time of harassment by her seniors and professors.

Rishiteshwari from Warangal, committed suicide in her hostel room on July 14, 2015. There were allegations that apart from her seniors, college principal was also responsible for harassing her sexually.

The police booked cases against them under various sections of IPC for ragging her apart from under POCSO Act.

When the police filed a charge sheet in the POCSO special court, the special court turned down the same on the ground that Rishiteshwari was a major and she had not lodged any complaint against the persons who allegedly harassed her.

Her father challenged the special court order in the high court in 2017 and submitted evidences to prove that she was indeed a minor at the time of her suicide.

His lawyer argued that since she was a minor who had been subject to sexual harassment, the case should be tried under POCSO Act.

Telangana MLA seeks Jagan’s help!

Share

At a time when the Congress party in Telangana is fretting and fuming at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy over Pothireddypadu project issue, a Congress MLA from Telangana made a special request to Jagan on a different issue.

The MLA is Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka, representing Mulugu assembly constituency. Even as her party leaders and MLAs are busy doing politics in Hyderabad, she has been quietly going ahead with her job – helping Adivasis in the interiors of her constituency in the forests of Eturu Nagaram in the present crisis times of Coronavirus.

While the MLA has been educating the tribals about the virus, she is also involved in distribution of food and other essentials to them in the wake of state-wide lockdown.

She has been trekking for miles to reach out to tribals in their hamlets located in the interior forests and provide them necessary help.

On Thursday, Seethakka travelled for over four and a half hours to cross streams and hills to attend to the needs of Chintalapadu trimal hamlet located in the present East Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.

She spent a few hours with there with the Konda Reddi and Koya tribals and hand over rice, tamarind, chillis, oil, dal and other essentials to them, besides cash of Rs 500. Seethakka and her team members, including teachers, were given a rousing reception by the tribals.

Seethakka made a video appeal to Jagan Mohan Reddy to extend necessary help to the tribals in the interior areas.

“They have been without food for several days. We managed to reach these tribal areas with a lot of difficulty and extend whatever help we could do.There are no village volunteers in Chintalapadu,” she said.

The Telangana MLA said the tribals were not getting their monthly ration, let alone cash assistance.

“In the past, they used to buy essential items in local shandies. Now, they are closed because of lockdown. I request the AP government to do justice to the families of Konda Reddy tribes,” she told Jagan.

A Step Forward: Indian Cinema Breaks The Norms

Share

Indian Cinema industry has taken a huge blow because of the nationwide lockdown.

Producers are pushed to a corner and are forced to take big decisions to avoid losses. Thankfully, there are multiple OTT platforms available in India during these trying times.

Movies that are content rich are getting lucrative offers from the OTT giants.

Star studded films cannot go digital, but low budget films can opt to release through OTT platforms if they get handsome deals.

Two notable films from Tamil Cinema are going to directly release on Amazon Prime shortly. Keerthy Suresh Starrer Se Destin (Penguin) and Jyothika’s film Ponmagal Vandhal are releasing on Prime Video.

Bollywood movies Gulabo Sitabo starring Amitabh and Ayushmann and Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi will release in June.

Kannada movies Law and French Biryani also are releasing directly on OTT.

Malayalam movie Sufiyum Sujathayum will have a direct to OTT release.

Telugu film producers are yet to take a call on this. But this is surely a step forward for the Indian Cinema.

Sirish took to Instagram, where he shared a photograph of himself. In the image, he is seen sporting a grey sweater paired with denims.

“Waiting for lockdown to end so that I don’t have to be so atmanirbhar anymore. Living alone is hard after all!” he captioned the image.

On Mother’s Day, Sirish had shared a photograph with his mother.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers out there. Thank you amma for all the sacrifices you’ve made, all the love you’ve given, and all the things you’ve taught me over the years. Also, I’m so happy to be your favourite son! Hahaha. #mothersday,” he wrote.

On the work front, the actor was last seen on screen in the Telugu film “ABCD — American Born Confused Desi”. Directed by Sanjeev Reddy, the film also stars Rukshar Dhillon.

Covid woes return to haunt AP as day count spikes

Share

Thanks to an influx of migrants from other states, and the Koyambedu connection, Andhra Pradesh is yet again seeing an upswing in covid numbers over the past two days.

On Friday morning, the state nodal officer reported 102 new cases detected in the past 24 hours ending 10 a.m.

Of the 9,023 samples tested during this period, 45 cases pertain to people returning from Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Of these, 34 samples belong to people from Maharashtra, while 11 are of people from Rajasthan. On Thursday, 32 of the positive samples had been those belonging to migrant returnees from other states.

Of the remaining 57 positive cases in the state, 28 samples belong to people with travel history to the Koyambedu market in Chennai. The Koyambedu market, a major market yard for farm and vegetable produce in the region, has been closed after it emerged as the single major factor in the spread of COVID-19 in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

Chittoor and Nellore districts have emerged as the new coronavirus hotspots in Andhra Pradesh, primarily because of the Koyambedu connection. As many as 13 of the 14 cases detected in Chittoor district had a travel history to the Chennai market, while 8 of the 14 cases in Nellore district, and 5 of the 8 cases in Kurnool district had a similar connection. Anantapur district reported 4 cases, of which 1 person had a travel history to Koyambedu. One of the 2 cases reported from Kadapa district also had a travel history to Chennai.

On Thursday, of the 36 cases detected in the state, 21 samples belong to persons with travel history to Chennai.

Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts reported 3, 2, and 1 cases respectively, while 4 of the state’s 13 districts did not report any positive case over the past 24 hours.

Kurnool district continues to lead with its cumulative tally inching to 599 cases on Friday. With 343 persons cured and discharged, the active cases have steadily declined to 238 active. This is followed by Guntur and Krishna districts with cumulative tallies of 404 and 360 cases respectively.

With no deaths reported during the past 24 hours, the state’s death toll remained 48 on Friday morning. With 60 persons cured and discharged by Friday, the overall tally of discharged persons in Andhra Pradesh stands at 1,252.

At the state level, the cumulative tally in the state rose to 2,157 cases on Friday.

Meanwhile, the active cases tally is constantly on the decline and further fell to 857 from the previous day’s overall tally of 860 cases. Of the active cases, 150 cases pertain to people returning from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, and Karnataka. The majority (101) are from Maharashtra, while 26 persons have returned from Gujarat, 11 persons from Rajasthan, 10 from Odisha, and 1 each from Karnataka and West Bengal.

Philippines riding out typhoon after coronavirus slows evacuations

Share

MANILA: More than 150,000 people were riding out a weakening typhoon in emergency shelters in the Philippines on Friday after a mass evacuation that was complicated and slowed by the coronavirus.

Typhoon Vongfong has weakened after slamming ashore into Eastern Samar province Thursday and was blowing northwestward toward the populous main northern island of Luzon, government forecasters said. There was no immediate reports of casualties or major damage as authorities surveyed regions where the typhoon has passed.

The typhoon’s maximum sustained wind has weakened to 125 kilometers per hour (78 miles per hour) with gusts of 165 kph (102 mph) but it remains dangerous especially in coastal and low-lying villages, forecasters said, adding Vongfong was expected to blow out of the country’s north on Sunday.

In the northeastern Bicol region, more than 145,000 villagers have fled or were moved by disaster-response teams to dozens of emergency shelters, mostly school buildings, Office of Civil Defense director Claudio Yucot said. Thousands more were evacuated to safety in the outlying provinces of Samar, where the typhoon first blew over, officials said.

Unlike before, rescuers and volunteers needed to wear face masks and protective suits before deployment and could not transport villagers to emergency shelters in large numbers as a safeguard against the COVID-19 disease, Yucot said.

“Our ease of movement has been limited by COVID,” Yucot told The Associated Press by telephone from Albay province in the Bicol region, which has had dozens of coronavirus infections, including four deaths and remains under quarantine. “In the evacuation centers, there are more challenges.”

In an evacuation room, which could shelter up to 40 families before, only four families could be accommodated now as a safeguard against infections and the occupants should know each other and required to report any infected villager, Yucot said.

The coast guard said more than 600 cargo truck drivers and workers were stranded due to the suspension of sea travel in several eastern ports, where 340 cargo ships were barred from leaving due to the typhoon. All were required to wear protective masks and prohibited from mingling.

The typhoon hit as the Philippines struggles to deal with coronavirus outbreaks, largely with a lockdown in Luzon that is to be eased this weekend, except in metropolitan Manila and two other high-risk areas. The rest of the country will be placed in less restrictive quarantine, and crucial businesses will partially reopen starting next week.

The Philippines has reported nearly 12,000 coronavirus infections, including 790 deaths, among the highest in Southeast Asia.

Controversial lady Srireddy wishes Rana on his engagement

Share

In 2018, Controversial bold celebrity Sri Reddy made quite a stir when she claimed that a number a celebs from the Telugu film industry were engaged with her in sexual offense. She had picked the name of Abhiram Daggubati as well. He is the more younger sibling after hunk, Rana Daggubati.

Later In February 2020, Sri Reddy took a jab on Abhiram Daggubati after news spread like wildfire that Suresh Daggubati was intending to relocate Ramanaidu Studios out of Film Nagar. She wrote on Facebook that it was the place she had gone through her first night with Abhiram. Previously, Sri Reddy had claimed that she had romanced with him and even leaked private pictures.

Notwithstanding, presently she has expressed her best wishes to Rana Daggubati on his commitment with his lady love Miheeka Bajaj. In a Facebook post, Sri Reddy shared, “I know Rana garu the amount you gone through…god favor u with the peaceful life with your girl” with a smily emoticon.

Does this imply she has let bygones be bygones with the Daggubati family?

Rana surprised his fans and friends when he announced that he was engaged to Miheeka Bajaj three days ago. It was reported that Miheeka, who is an entrepreneur is the daughter of Bunty and Suresh Bajaj, one of the city’s leading businessmen. Both knew each other for ten long years but romance bloomed in the past two years. Chiranjeevi, Bipasha Basu, Nani, Dulquer Salmaan, Sonam Kapoor and Sophie Choudry had shared best wishes.

Jagan Sacks Polavaram Advisor!

Share

In a surprising development, YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has sacked H K Sahu from the post of technical and legal advisor for Polavaram major irrigation project being constructed on Godavari river.

Sahu was appointed as a consultant by the erstwhile Chandrababu Naidu government on April 14, 2018, to extend technical and legal advices to the Andhra Pradesh government on Polavaram project.

He had been coordinating with the Polavaram Project Authority in Hyderabad and was being paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 2 lakh.

Apparently, the Jagan government has come to the conclusion that Sahu’s functioning was not satisfactory. A report to this effect was sent to the chief minister by chief engineer of Polavaram project. As a result, the Jagan government has terminated Sahu’s services.

It is not exactly known whether Jagan will appoint a new technical and legal advisor for Polavaram or do away with the post as such.

Interestingly, Sahu’s termination comes at a time when the AP government was involved in a tussle with the Telangana government over expansion of Pothireddypadu head regulator on Krishna river at the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir.

Sahu had earlier served as chairman of both Godavari River Management Board and Krishna River Management Board.

No Telugu hero in Trisha’s best list

With lock down imposed there is no other way to interact for stars to interact with the fans other than the social media. Actresses are updating throw back pics from time to time and are also interacting fans with Q and A. Trisha Krishnan who is once one of the top actresses has interacted with her fans via Instagram. She has answered questions from fans in a funny way. However when a fan asked who are her favourite top three stars in Indian cinema, Trisha has named Kamal Hassan, Mohan Lal and Aamir Khan.
Trisha hasn’t mentioned a Telugu hero though she has done number of movies in T town. She has ruled the roost here for many years. Wonder she hasn’t found any hero in Telugu worth mentioning. However it is her personal choice and we need to respect that.

Trisha has acted opposite Kamal Hassan in two movies, Manmadhan Anbu and Thoongavanam. She is currently acting opposite Mohan Lal. However she hasn’t shared screen space with Aamir Khan yet.

Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Ippude Modalaindi’- Here Comes Clarity

Share

Ever since the 8th anniversary celebrations of Pawan Kalyan’s “Gabbar Singh” movie have hit the social media heavily couple of days ago, director Harish Shankar is quite ecstatic about his next outing with the power star. On that note, a lot has come out about #PSPK28, regarding which Harish Shankar clarified.

Firstly, as Harish Shankar is using the title ‘Ippude Modalaindi’ very strongly in his tweets and press notes, many thought that this is a cryptic revelation about the film’s title. But then, Harish says that he has actually used the dialogue from Gabbar Singh interval, ‘Appude Ayipoyinidi anukoku, Ippude Modalaindi’ as a catchphrase that could connect to fans. Because #PSPK28 is a reunion of Gabbar Singh team including Pawan, Harish and DSP.

Talking about the rumours regarding heroine Manasa Radhakrishnan, the director has clarified that they haven’t roped in any heroine and all the names that are in circulation are just gossips. He stated that the script work of the film is yet to be done and only after he wraps the script, he will take a call on the film’s casting.

Telangana vendors hit as ULBs sit on ID cards

Share

HYDERABAD: While Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) identified 48,000 street vendors across the State long ago, they have not issued street vending certificates to the vendors till date. Of the 48,000 registered vendors, there are 25,450 under the GHMC limits alone.

A mere 207 vending certificates have been issued so far displaying a clear lack of concern towards street vendors. In a majority of GHMC circles, such as Khairatabad, Kapra, Quthubullapur, Secunderabad, Alwal, Abids, Patancheru, Serilingampally, L B Nagar, Charminar, Rajendranagar, Uppal, Malkajgiri and Kukatpally, not a single street vendor ID card has been issued.

Other ULBs have done reasonably better than GHMC by issuing more than 50 per cent vending certificates. Of the 22,375 registered street vendors, 12,465 have been issued certificates. Taking note of the delay, the Telangana Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (TSMEPMA) has issued instructions to ULBs to issue issuing vending certificates and ID cards to all street vendors by May 31. The earlier deadline that was set was December 15, 2019.

RRR Will Miss The Target, Confirms Producer

Share

Leading director SS Rajamouli has already confirmed that his magnum opus #RRR is in the last leg of the shoot, but it will be impossible to take up all the production work until lockdown goes off. And his producer DVV Danayya echoes his statement, as he says that the film will be missing out the release date for sure.

While things are clear that #RRR will not be hitting the cinemas on Jan 8, 2020, producer DVV Danayya confirmed with an English Daily that the film is not going to release on the said date.

He says, “Only 70% of work is complete when it comes to #RRR and though we could wrap rest of the work in 2-3 months, this two months delay (lockdown period) has affected VFX pipeline badly. So the film will get delayed on that part”.

Earlier Rajamouli also stated that there is more than 20% of the film’s work is to be completed and Visual Effects work might take huge time to get wrapped up.
Now that #RRR has given up the January 2021 date, we have to see which big films will be rushing up to capture that space. They say that only Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya could grab it, but not other big heroes as none have their films close to finish line.
