Parenting not easy journey with 2020 generation

Actress Sameera Reddy, also a mother, says parenting is not easy journey with kids of the 2020 generation.

“Parenting is not an easy journey with the 2020 generation. It’s the only role you play with no script in place. Right from getting your child to sleep through the night, to equal parenting, to raising a picky eater, body shaming, to rediscovering yourself after motherhood is all exhausting and few speak about it,” she said.

She added on the subject: “I think just knowing that there are so many parents who face this day in day out, really helps. Being aware, and knowing you are not alone helps. Digital platforms spreading awareness on these topics is growing and this seems like a great idea for parents to just unwind, learn and connect with so many parents across the country.”

Sameera was speaking on the “Raising Parents” podcast of JioSaavn. The podcast is for young adults and new parents, facing the expectations and challenges of parenthood. She was the first guest on the show.

Revanth Threatens Media Channels!

Share

All these days, there has been a criticism against Telangana Rashtra Samithi government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for treating the media persons with contempt and arm-twisting the media channels using his power.

There have been many occasions in the past showing KCR intimidating the media and indulging in witch-hunting of the channels that carried anti-TRS and anti-government reports.

But now, even the opposition Congress has also started threatening the media for not giving enough coverage to its news.

On Wednesday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president A Revanth Reddy resorted to virtual blackmailing and intimidation of media channels.

Expressing his anger at some channels for not covering even a single event of the Congress party in their news bulletins, Revanth demanded that out of 30 minutes in each bulletin, they should telecast news about the Congress party for at least six minutes.

He said even the print media has not been giving enough coverage to the Congress party’s agitation against the government.

“They should public the Congress news in the front page. Otherwise, we shall launch a campaign among the people not to purchase such newspapers which are ignoring Congress party,” Revanth threatened.

Stating that the Congress was viewing the indifferent attitude of the media towards the party seriously, Revanth said hereafter the party would take up agitations against such media houses and expose them in the social media.

“We won’t hesitate to stall the private advertisements to the media houses if they don’t cover the Congress party news in the coming days. If necessary, we shall also cut the wires of cable networks of the media channels,” he warned.

‘Jagan Has Secret Deal With KCR’

Share

Once again the water war has begun between in the Telugu states. To provide water for Rayalaseema region, AP CM YS Jagan has issued G.O. number 203 to use the flood water from Srisailam dam. The YSRCP government has also issued administrative sanctions regarding the same. Telangana CM KCR has severely opposed this and lodged a complaint against AP government at Krishna Tribunal.

However, the oppositions in Telangana smell something fishy here and added that there is a secret deal between Jagan and KCR in this issue. Speaking on it BJP leader DK Aruna said, “This fresh action of AP government will do a lot of damage to the joint Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts. It will also affect the irrigation projects like Kalvakurthi and Palamuru-Rangareddy. I suspect an understanding between the CMs of Telugu states.”

The former minister also said, KCR is neglecting South Telangana and is doing complete injustice to the region. “For North Telangana irrigation projects, KCR passes orders in hours, sanctions budget in days whereas for South Telangana projects, they take years to complete,” said Aruna and added that she had met CM KCR on couple of occasions and urged him to complete projects in south Telangana at faster pace.

“Palamur-Rangareddy project was allotted two TMC of water. But very recently this was reduced to just one TMC and still the government is yet to allocate funds for it. This is an evidence of KCR’s pure negligence and he has no intentions of completing irrigation projects of South Telangana. I don’t think KCR has no knowledge about AP CM Jagan’s order on G.O. 203,” said Aruna.

Meanwhile BJP leaders have held a one day fast in Hyderabad against Pothireddypadu project and raised slogans against CM KCR.

Jagan Scores Points Over Opposition Again!

Share

YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy successfully silenced the opposition parties by announcing Rs 1 crore ex gratia for each of the kin of the 12 people who died of poisonous gas leak from LG Polymers at Visakhapatnam.

Now, even as the opposition parties are trying to raise other issues on the Vizag incident, Jagan scored more brownie points over them by announcing expansion of Pothireddypadu head regulator on Krishna river and construct a new Rayalaseema lift scheme to lift three tmc ft of water from Srisailam reservoir.

While the Telangana government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao is fretting and fuming at Jagan for taking up the projects on Krishna river without permission from Krishna river management board and the opposition parties in Telangana have launched the agitation against the project, the opposition in Andhra has nothing to politicise it.

So far, the TDP has not made any comment for or against Jagan’s plan to draw more water from Krishna. Even at the video conference held by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu with his senior party leaders, the issue of Pothireddypadu has not been discussed seriously.

Naidu knows that any attempt to politicise the issue or make any adverse comments on the Pothireddypadu project would prove counterproductive for him and his party.

In fact, Naidu’s former colleague in the cabinet and senior leader Vadde Sobhanadreeshwar Rao issued a statement welcoming the Jagan government’s decision to enhance the capacity of Pothireddypadu.

He said lifting of 3 tmc of Krishna water from Sangameshwaram to Pothireddypadu main canal, from where it is taken to Galeru Nagaru and Srisailam Right Branch Canals, would go a long way in irrigation to Rayalaseema.

He, however, said Jagan should send the project proposals to Krishna River Management Board as per the AP Reorganisation Act and seek its approval.

“The project as such is not against the interests of Telangana and a boon to Rayalaseema,” he said.

AP vs Telangana: The Blame Game Begins!

Share

Chief Ministers of the two Telugu states, who shared bonhomie for the last one year after the general elections, are now locking horns over the critical issue of sharing Krishna waters.

AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy issued GO No. 203 to construct a lift irrigation scheme to divert Krishna water from the Srisailam project, which is shared by both the states. Reddy even expressed readiness to release funds for the project which would provide water to Rayalaseema, an area that faces water crisis almost throughout the year.

Taking objection to it, his TS counterpart K. Chandrashekar Rao instructed the officials to approach the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (KWDT) and challenge AP’s decision in the Supreme Court.

Rao said that the AP government had taken the decision unilaterally and that it was committing a “grave mistake” by doing so, in violation of the rights of Telangana and the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. He reminded that the Reorganisation Act insists that either of the states should consult the apex committee if it wanted to build a project on River Krishna.

The GO issued by the YSRC government on May 5 sanctioned administrative approval to a series of schemes worth Rs 7,000 crore to draw an additional quantity of 6-8 tmc (thousand million cubic feet) of water per day from Srisailam reservoir on the Krishna river.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties in Telangana, including the Congress and the BJP, staged a protest criticising their CM of getting into a match-fixing deal with his counterpart in AP. They alleged that the AP government was trying to completely dry up Telangana and turn it into a desert by drawing extra water from Pothireddypadu. They also said that building an LI scheme at 805-ft was a conspiracy against the Telangana people.

On the other hand, Jaganmohan Reddy says there is a right for the AP government to draw 44,000 cusecs from Pothireddypadu and wondered why should the TS leaders oppose the AP when it is taking its rightful share of water. Further, he said the TS should think with humanity and allow AP to go ahead with the LI project as the water needs of people in Prakasam, Nellore and Rayalaseema are not being fulfilled.

TS Congress senior leader Uttam Kumar Reddy said that widening the canals of Pothireddypadu would mean more water would flow to AP. There will be a severe irrigation crisis if 3 tmcft of water is drawn from Srisailam project. He also faulted KCR for speaking to Jaganmohan Reddy almost daily on phone but failing to stop him from ‘stealing water’ from the Srisailam project.

Congress leader Revanth Reddy alleged that JCR-Jagan were having a secret deal and hence, palying drama on the Krishna water dispute. The duo should never be seen as separate entities, he said and even went ahead to say that the May 5 GO was released with the knowledge of TS CM KCR. He also alleged that KCR has been neglecting irrigation projects n south Telangana since long. “In fact, the Pothireddypadu issue was in discussion by both the CMs since August, 2019 and it shaped up into a GO this month. The contents of the GO were in fact prepared at the TRS party office, Pragathi Bhavan, in Hyderabad,” he said.

BJP leader D.K. Aruna too echoed the same feelings. She too criticised KCR for being biased against the irrigation projects in south Telangana.

He said he would stall the Pothireddypadu expansion works. He even reminded that AP irrigation minister Anilkumar Yadav made an official statement regarding the CMs discussing on irrigation issues at the conferences held thrice since August, last year.

However, the opposition parties in AP, including the Telugu Desam and Jana Sena have not made any statement on the dispute so far. They adopted the ‘wait and watch’ policy on the issue. But, BJP state chief Kanna Lakshminarayana was all praises for Jagan as he is fighting for water share of the state.

The main opposition Telugu Desam would have raised its voice if it had presence in Telangana but with the party being pushed into the oblivion, the TD seems to be taking time to take a move cautiously in AP.

Meanwhile, political analysts said that never had KCR and Jagan been together and worked on resolving the inter-state issues. Their closeness stemmed only from their common ire against former CM and Telugu Desam supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu.

BE VOCAL FOR LOCAL

Share

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 20 lakh crore aid to the nation under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to stimulate the economy which had been hit by recession and Covid-19 lockdown successively. The package amounts to 10 per cent of the nation’s GDP.

He pitched in for indigenous products and urged people to also focus on realising “Make in India” policy to make the nation self-reliant. Modi stressed that buying local products and encouraging local brands would help in boosting the economy from the grass roots-level.

Till the lockdown, countries across the world bought products made in China, right from minute things like toys to big ones like computer systems and other electronic goods. Accordingly, China too catered to the needs of people across the world by manufacturing a wide range of products including textiles, footwear and many other daily use products. China was the manufacturing hub for the entire world.

However, with the suspicion that China manufactured even the deadly coronavirus and exported it to all the countries like it did with other products, the developed countries have started contemplating banning China products in their countries.

In such a situation, Modi underscored the need to be self-reliant. Further, he pointed out that it was the local vegetable vendor and kirana stores which helped the people survive through the Covid-19 lockdown. “So, it is ‘local’ which helped the country move ahead during the adverse situation,” he pointed out.

With the same spirit, it is necessary that people buy local products and make the local manufacturers grow, he said, adding that people should not stop with buying but also promote local products.

“All global brands were initially local brands. Gradually, they improved the marketing techniques and found their way to gain the patronage of people in other countries and became global brands, Similarly, Indians should also buy local products, encourage local manufacturers and help them prosper in local market. This will gradually pave way to become global brands,” he said.

Modi also urged the people to keep “Make in India” policy in mind as it would add to the economy and make the country self-reliant. He also appealed to the people to be “vocal for local”.
