It is official now. The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government on Wednesday issued orders converting all classes from I to VI in primary, upper primary and high schools under all managements into English Medium from the coming academic year 2020-21.
According to GO No. 24 of the school education department, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), which had conducted a survey among the parents of the government schools, recommended to the government that English medium be introduced in all the schools from Class 1 to 6 in the coming academic year and gradually increasing each further class from the next consequent academic years.
However, all further steps in furtherance of implementation of the decision shall await and abide by the directions of the Supreme Court in the special leave petition to be filed by the government, the order said.
The order said the state high court, in its judgement, held that the decision taken by the government was not in conformity with the law and was forcing the students’ choice or on his behalf, his parent or guardian.
The high court also found that the SCERT which is the academic authority as per RTE Rules 2011 was not involved in the decision making.
Following the high court judgement, the government ordered that the parents’ choice be ascertained with regard to English medium in all the schools. And 96.17 per cent of the parents opted for English medium and only 3.05 per cent for Telugu medium.
Director of SCERT was also asked to give his recommendations with regard to providing primary education in English Medium.
The SCERT director also made several recommendations, including the one suggesting that many parents in the rural areas wanted their children to study in English medium.

“If those comments were made by producers like Dil Raju, Allu Aravind or Mythri Naveen, I will think about it and would introspect. The said person claims that he has given break to me. I can also claim that I had given break to a producer who delivered two big flops before Gabbar Singh. But I will not do that,” Harish said.
Bandla Ganesh said that Harish Shankar cannot deliver a blockbuster with an original script. Harish laughed at these comments as he have a couple of other money spinners to his credit that were written and directed by him.
“It is an honor to remake a movie rather than free-making it,” Harish took a dig at directors who lift stories and scenes from other movies.

From some time, few celebrities are always targeted with the same rumour and they happen to give the same answer for them. Like how rumours emerge on Prabhas’ marriage every year and then Krishnam Raju says, ‘This year pucca’ as an answer, there is another such gossip and answer here.
Despite the fact that hottest anchor Rashmi Gautham clarified so many times that she’s not dating Jabardasth fame Sudheer, nor she is even friends with him, rumours always emerge that they are a couple. And the latest rumour is that Rashmi and Sudheer are staying together in lockdown and might tie the knot soon.
Responding on this same old rumour, Rashmi once again gave the same old answer, as she quips, “Forget about dating him or falling in love with him, we’re not even friends outside. We just act on the small screen as per the script given”. Fact is that Rashmi is staying in Vizag right now at her farmhouse while Sudheer is in Hyderbad, so there is no chance of them staying together.
Meanwhile, Rashmi is still sulking that Guntur Talkies has jeopardised her chances in Tollywood as many thought that she’s only for bold roles.
If YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has his way, the state is getting ready for lifting of lockdown at the earliest, notwithstanding the fact that the number of Covid-19 positive cases are going up with every passing day.
The state is likely to throw open many sectors, including public transport facilities like RTC buses. It might even reopen the educational institutions as scheduled in June.
During the video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi early this week, Jagan made several suggestions including opening of public transport like trains and RTC buses and even opening of commercial establishments under certain strict regulations.
With the Prime Minister declaring that there would be Lockdown 4.0 with more relaxations, Jagan has asked the officials to gear up for further relaxations and prepare a post lockdown exit.
On Thursday, Jagan discussed with the officials regarding measures to be taken in containment clusters and prepare a Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for the functioning of schools and other places where there would large gathering.
Apparently, Jagan wants to identify containment clusters for Corona virus and focus on preventing, containing and minimizing the Corona effect.
The officials told the chief minister about the plans to revamp the identified clusters across the State as new clusters have been surfacing from the last few days.
In the rest of the areas, the activity is likely to be normal and Jagan wants all sectors to be thrown open. However, it all depends on what kind of exit plan the Centre would recommend, the sources said.
