Ilaiyaraaja to Celebrate 50 Years with Charity Concert in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja is set to perform a special concert next month to celebrate 50 years of his musical journey, coinciding with the silver jubilee of the Akshaya Patra Foundation.
Titled “Ilaiyaraaja 50: A Legendary Musical Journey”, the concert will take place on January 10, 2026, at NICE Grounds in Madavara, Bengaluru.
The event aims to support “Music for Meals”, an initiative by the Akshaya Patra Foundation that leverages music-led programmes to raise awareness and generate support for providing nutritious meals to schoolchildren.
Marking 25 years of service, the foundation currently serves mid-day meals to around 2.33 million children across 23,978 government and government-aided schools, and is a key implementing partner of the Centre’s PM POSHAN programme.
Speaking at a press conference, Ilaiyaraaja said he immediately agreed to the concert when approached by the foundation:
“The moment they mentioned it, I immediately agreed. It was a spontaneous decision. When it is for a good cause, I have to do it.”
Widely regarded as one of India’s most influential composers, Ilaiyaraaja’s five-decade-long career spans multiple languages and genres. The organisers highlighted that the collaboration beautifully combines cultural expression with social service, emphasizing the role of the arts in supporting national welfare initiatives.
Sunny Deol Set for Powerful Hanuman Role in R-Verse

Sunny Deol is gearing up for yet another powerful comeback, especially after the massive success of Gadar: The Katha Continues. The veteran star is now rumored to be leading a high-stakes musical-action film centered around Lord Hanuman, part of an ambitious project titled the ‘Ramayan Universe’ (R-Verse).
According to industry chatter, this Hanuman-centric film is being fast-tracked by producer Namit Malhotra, CEO of Double Negative, who is spearheading the creation of this grand cinematic universe inspired by the Ramayan.
Speaking about the vision, Malhotra says,
“This film will hopefully break the rules in terms of action, music, and stunt design. We want to thrill the traditional devotees of the Ramayan while also appealing to an entirely new generation.”
Insiders describe the film as a “mythological pop-opera with thunderous action”, blending devotion with high-octane, spectacle-driven sequences. The story reportedly features dramatic musical set pieces, aerial combat, flaming torch warfare, and a massive 12-minute battle hymn that serves as the film’s emotional peak. The scale aims to present Lord Hanuman’s legend in a fresh, visually explosive manner, far removed from conventional mythological storytelling.
A source close to the project reveals that the idea for a standalone Hanuman film emerged while the team was developing Ramayana:
“Once they saw the first draft of Hanuman’s portions, they knew he deserved his own platform. Sunny paaji’s name came up instantly. There’s simply no one better suited for the role, and he’s already deeply connected to the core team.”
The bigger R-Verse is planned as a connected universe—much like the Avengers—with Hanuman positioned as the “Hulk of the franchise—unstoppable, adored, and built for pure entertainment.”
If negotiations conclude smoothly, the Hanuman film is expected to go on floors by the end of next year. Should everything fall into place, this might become one of Sunny Deol’s most iconic and career-defining roles.
Anil Ravipudi on Chiranjeevi’s Sankranthi Entertainer

Hit Machine Anil Ravipudi, known for delivering back-to-back blockbusters, is gearing up to continue his success streak with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Megastar Chiranjeevi.
In an exclusive interview, Anil revealed that Chiranjeevi was impressed with the story in the very first narration. The director completed the full script along with dialogues in just 45 days, after which the Megastar gave his immediate approval.
“Chiranjeevi garu trusted me completely and gave me full freedom. He did share valuable inputs, but overall, it was a smooth journey. The story and treatment are very contemporary. He initially suggested a salt-and-pepper look, but considering his fitness, I felt it wasn’t necessary,” Anil said.
The team wrapped up the shoot in 80–85 days, except for two days of minor patchwork. Post-production work for the first half is already complete.
Music composer Bheems Ceciroleo has delivered two chartbuster songs.
“When I first heard Meesala Pilla, I loved the tune, but I never expected it to cross 100 million views so quickly. That reception is a huge boost to our confidence. Sasirekha also became a big hit,” Anil added.
He shared interesting details about Chiranjeevi’s introduction song.
“It happens during Sharat Saxena’s birthday party, where the atmosphere is dull. Chiranjeevi’s character lifts the energy with the song. It will surprise Mega fans. Aata Sandeep choreographed it on Chiranjeevi’s recommendation. We’re planning to release it by month-end.”
The film promises to be a complete entertainer with a blend of comedy, action, emotion, and a crime backdrop.
Chiranjeevi plays a national security officer, while Nayanthara plays a girl from a wealthy family. Harshavardhan and Abhinav Gomatam accompany Chiranjeevi’s character throughout the story.
“I made a conscious attempt to showcase Chiranjeevi’s fun side. Sachin Khedekar plays Nayanthara’s father, and Bulli Raju appears in a cameo role,” he revealed.
Adding to the excitement, Venkatesh will appear on screen for nearly 20 minutes, making the festival season even more special for fans.
The film is being released on a table-profit basis, with producers delighted by the strong pre-release business.
“This Sankranthi will be unforgettable. After a long time, audiences will see Chiranjeevi in a wholesome entertainer with superb songs—and Venkatesh’s presence is a bonus. We’re planning aggressive promotions after release,” Anil concluded.
Nara Brahmani Firmly Rules Out Political Entry

Heritage Foods Executive Director Nara Brahmani, wife of Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh, has put an end to speculation about her political entry. Speaking at the Business Today – Most Powerful Women in Business awards in Mumbai, she stated unequivocally that she has no interest in politics, emphasising that her current work offers far greater purpose.
Calling Heritage Foods “my organisation, my first child,” Brahmani said the platform enables her to make a direct and meaningful impact—something she values more than any public role. A Stanford MBA graduate, she highlighted that her work empowers lakhs of women farmers and benefits crores of consumers across India, aligning perfectly with her passion for health and nutrition.
Heritage Foods currently operates in 19 states, sourcing milk from 7–8 states, with women constituting nearly 80% of its producer base—a statistic she considers central to her leadership mission. The company reported a turnover of ₹4,134.6 crore in the 2024–25 financial year.
Reflecting on her journey, Brahmani recalled stepping into the dairy business founded three decades ago by her father-in-law, former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. As the company grew into a listed entity with thin margins and a vast supply chain, she led a strategic shift towards value-added products, which now contribute 32% of total revenues, with plans to scale this vertical further.
She credited her mother-in-law Nara Bhuvaneswari for nurturing an inclusive work culture that made her transition smoother, and described Chandrababu Naidu as her most influential mentor. The family council meetings, she noted, function with the discipline and vision of a professional board.
Despite her family’s deep political background, Brahmani reiterated that her focus will continue to remain on business leadership, innovation, and social impact, firmly ruling out any move into politics.
