Acclaimed filmmaker Deva Katta, best known for hard-hitting dramas like Prasthanam and Republic, has made a powerful OTT debut with Mayasabha, now streaming on Sony LIV.
Released on August 7, the Telugu original has struck a strong chord with both audiences and critics. In its very first week, Mayasabha clocked 2.8 million views and secured the No. 3 spot on Ormax Media’s most-watched streaming list for August 11–17, 2025.
For Sony LIV—which already boasts acclaimed originals such as Scam 1992, Rocket Boys, Freedom at Midnight, and The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case—this marks yet another impressive addition to its lineup.
Jointly directed by Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar, the political drama fictionalises significant events in united Andhra Pradesh between 1974 and 2009. The gripping first season, spread across nine episodes, takes the narrative up to 1983, weaving together political intrigue and human drama.
At the heart of the story are Kakarla Krishnama Naidu (Aadi Pinishetty) and MS Rami Reddy (Chaitanya Rao Madadi)—friends turned bitter political rivals—caught in a web of ambition, betrayal, and shifting power equations.
