Is Anirudh Ravichander Losing His Musical Magic?

Share

There’s no doubt that Anirudh Ravichander is among the most talented and impactful music composers in Indian cinema. Over the past decade, he has delivered some of the most memorable and addictive tracks for superstar-driven films, often setting new benchmarks in film music.

However, recent trends suggest that the creative powerhouse may be hitting a rough patch. In the last few years, Anirudh hasn’t delivered as many blockbuster albums as before, and even his background scores—once a film-saving strength—seem to have dipped in quality and repeat value. There was a time when his BGM alone could elevate a movie’s emotional and dramatic impact, but that magic feels less consistent lately.

One possible reason could be his packed schedule. With multiple high-profile projects on his plate, balancing time and focus for each may have become a challenge. While his talent remains unquestionable, the sheer volume of work might be stretching him thin.

It may be the right time for Anirudh to focus on quality over quantity, streamlining his commitments and dedicating more creative energy to each project. Fans and the industry alike still expect—and believe—that he can deliver music that not only complements the film but also stands the test of time.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie Breaks North American Box Office Records

Share

Rajinikanth’s Coolie has stormed the North American box office, claiming a strong lead on Day 1 with a total gross of $811K, including $253K from its Telugu version. In comparison, War 2 earned $405K, with $101K coming from its Telugu release.

While Coolie saw sensational advance bookings, actual walk-in numbers were slightly below expectations. War 2, meanwhile, had modest advance sales, but steady ticket pricing and pre-sold passes helped attract a solid audience.

The true showstopper, however, was Coolie’s North American premieres, raking in an astonishing $3.04 million across the United States and Canada. This achievement sets a new record for Tamil film premieres in the region, surpassing all previous benchmarks and ranking among the top four Indian movie premieres of all time in North America.

Trade analysts have dubbed the phenomenon “The Superstars Massacre,” with Rajinikanth’s remarkable performance at the box office establishing a benchmark that will be hard for any film to surpass.

BRS Criticizes Ads While Ignoring Its Own Past

Share

There’s a popular Telugu proverb: “Thaanu chesthe samsaram; avathali vaadu chesthe, vyabhichaaram” — when he does it, it’s romance; when the opponent does it, it’s prostitution. This perfectly reflects the current behavior of Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders.

On Wednesday, BRS mouthpiece Namasthe Telangana targeted the Congress government led by A. Revanth Reddy, criticizing it for placing advertisements in Bihar newspapers about government programs. The report accused the Revanth Reddy administration of splurging crores on ads, allegedly for election purposes, even while citing financial constraints in the state.

However, BRS leaders seem to forget their own history. In 2018, KCR’s government lavishly placed ads not only in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but across India, in multiple languages. PR agencies and ad officers earned massive commissions, often ignoring circulation figures, spending hundreds of crores of public money. Namasthe Telangana itself reportedly exaggerated its circulation, securing inflated ad revenues.

Why did KCR do this? At the time, he was positioning himself for a national political role, claiming he could lead anti-BJP forces and even eyeing the Prime Minister’s post, promising to fund opposition campaigns along the way. The irony now is clear: what was once justified as ambition is now being criticized when others follow similar steps.

Ivy Entertainment Takes PMF to Court Over ₹218 Crore The Raja Saab Investment

Share

The high-stakes drama of Telugu cinema has now entered the courtroom, as Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment has approached the Delhi High Court against Hyderabad’s People Media Factory (PMF) and its directors. The dispute revolves around the much-anticipated Prabhas starrer, The Raja Saab, with Ivy demanding a refund of its ₹218 crore investment along with 18% annual interest, citing multiple breaches of contract.

Court documents allege that PMF delayed production and release, failed to provide monthly updates, withheld details on fund utilization, and did not deliver promised materials. Ivy also points to repeated, unexplained postponements of the film’s theatrical release, which, according to them, triggered termination clauses in their agreements.

Under two agreements signed in early 2023, Ivy claims it had acquired worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights, co-presenter credits, and guaranteed returns. The petition also names post-production vendors and seeks an injunction to prevent exploitation of the film’s rights without Ivy’s permission.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Ivy asserts it intends to complete and release The Raja Saab itself to safeguard its investment. The horror-comedy is reportedly being made on a ₹400 crore budget.

Hrithik Roshan Invests ₹31 Crore in Andheri Commercial Flats

Share

stars often diversify their income by investing in real estate, and Hrithik Roshan is no exception. The actor has recently made a high-profile purchase in Mumbai, acquiring three commercial flats on the first floor of a building in Chandivali, Andheri East.

The acquisition, made through HRX Digitech—a company Hrithik co-manages with his father, Rakesh Roshan—cost ₹31 crore. The combined area of these three units is 13,546 sq. ft., and Hrithik is planning to spend an additional ₹3 crore on interiors and amenities.

Speculation is rife that Hrithik may be gearing up for his directorial debut, with reports suggesting that he intends to use this very commercial space to start pre-production work.

This move continues Hrithik’s trend of real estate investments. Last year, he purchased three residential flats in Andheri for ₹6.75 crore, highlighting his growing interest in the Mumbai property market.
