Allu Aravind’s Pressure Made Bunny to Tweet!

Share

At a time when the entire Telugu film industry is going gaga over megastar Chiranjeevi’s blockbuster film “Sye Raa” and audiences are waiting with bated breath, his nephew Allu Arjun had been keeping silent without making a single comment or tweet on the mega film.

This has naturally triggered a big uproar in the film circles and yet, Allu Arjun chose to remain mum on the whole controversy, including his absence at the pre-release function of “Sye Raa.”

He knew that mega fans were trolling him for this one reason but he continued to maintain his stoic silence until things started going out of control.

The beautiful song “Samaja Vara Gamana” from “Ala Vaikunthapuramlo” received rave reviews with a lot of appreciation. It has become an instant chartbuster. There is nothing in the song that warrants criticism or trolling. It is one of the most mellifluous compositions in the recent times.

Still, the song received heavy trolling from mega fans as they made some comparison with one of Thaman’s old songs.

While the song went on to create waves in terms of views on YouTube, the social media platforms are filled with memes against it.

Apparently realising that this unnecessary controversy might play a spoil sport with his son’s film, Allu Aravind quickly intervened to settle the dust.

He reportedly pulled up Bunny for dragging the issue a bit too far and told him that it was nothing but natural for Chiranjeevi’s fans to get hurt, if a family member didn’t tweet about his film or abstains from the mega event.

It was only after being reprimanded by his father did Bunny make a comment showering his love on uncle Chiranjeevi and cousin Ram Charan. He might have his own reasons for not attending the pre-release event of Sye Raa, but he did not want to send any wrong message with his actions anymore.

Whatever might be his excuses, Allu Arjun cannot take a chance of not attending the event of Megastar’s movie. After all, it is Megastar Chiranjeevi who gave life to all other mega heroes.

Liquor Price Hiked, Time & Shops Cut

Share

Amaravati: As a first major step towards prohibition, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra pradesh on Tuesday took over the retail liquor business while the price of liquor was increased to discourage consumption.

With the new excise policy coming into effect from Tuesday, the state-owned Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL) took control of liquor shops from private contractors after reducing the number of outlets by 20 per cent.

Officials said the number of shops has been cut to 3,500 from 4,380 earlier.

The business hours of wine shops have also been reduced. The shops will now remain open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. against 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. earlier.

The government also banned consumption of liquor in wine shops to avoid inconvenience to people living near the premises.

Under the new rules, no liquor shop is supposed to be located within 100 meters of a place of worship, educational institution or a hospital. They should also not be visible from state or national highways.

In another move to discourage consumption of liquor, the government hiked its prices by increasing Additional Retail Excise Tax (AERT). The prices of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), foreign liquor, beer, wine and ready -to-drink varieties have gone up by Rs 10 to Rs 250.

According to the government order issued late on Monday: 250/275 ml ready-to-drink liquor will cost an additional Rs 20; IMFL and foreign liquor will cost an extra Rs 20 for a quarter bottle, Rs 40 for half and Rs 80 for full bottle.

Under the new policy, 60/90 ml liter IMFL bottle has become dearer by Rs 10. The price of one litre bottle has gone up by Rs 100 and that of two litre bottle by Rs 250.

APBCL will get four per cent commission on sales at the liquor shops. Some 3,500 supervisors, 8,033 salesmen have been recruited to run these shops.

The government said the rules about sale of liquor at MRP will be strictly implemented and those violating the rules would be removed from the job with immediate effect.

Imposing total prohibition was a key promise made by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) during the election campaign.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced after assuming office in May that prohibition would be enforced in phases and finally consumption of liquor will be confined to five-star hotels only.

Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister Naryanaswamy said 43,000 belt shops allowed by previous government were closed down after Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered a crackdown.

Belt shops were the illegal outlets of the licensed liquor shops.

The government claimed that the series of steps led to liquor sales coming down by 15 per cent in the last four months.

To address women’s complains regarding liquor consumption, the government has recruited, 14,994 women constables in village and ward secretariats, which will become operational from October 2.

Gopichand’s ‘Chanakya’ is patriotic too!

Action hero Gopichand is banking a lot on his upcoming movie ‘Chanakya.’ Touted to be a spy thriller, the makers also say that this is a patriotic film too.

India and Pakistan are at loggerheads over terrorism and other issues and ‘Chanakya’ too mainly deals with terror.

Accordingly the film has the backdrop of Karachi city and it was shot in some realistic locations. The trailer and teaser have showed us a glimpse of what it is going to be like.

Apart from this there are a lot of patriotic elements that are like certain to get audiences thumbs up.

Hero Gopichand too took risk for this film. He performed some high octane action episode without any dupe and they are going to stand out.

With good buzz, ‘Chanakya’ is gearing up for release on October 5th.

Sex Talkies: Bedroom issues hit the big screen

Share

Bollywood has aced the art of uncovering societal issues, and is now mastering the art of taking the audience between the sheets with its stories, being driven by stars like Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonakshi Sinha and Rajkummar Rao.

What ties Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Lust Stories, Khandaani Shafakhana or Rajkummar’s upcoming Made In China? It is the presence of sex — which is not used as a tool for titillation anymore, but woven into the storyline to take forward the plot.

Sex is no longer a hush-hush subject, and that is one of the main reasons behind the increasing visibility of such subjects.

“The Internet revolution and convergence has brought this revolution. Indians are now exposed to world cinema at the click of a button. It was never the case before. Before Internet, everything was controlled by the censor board, and because there was so much of hush-hush element around it, it was specifically used in films to promote them,” said SMM Ausaja, a film historian.

“That’s why we had so many B-grade movies, where people were assured of titillation. This can’t be the case now. You can’t use sex as an element to bring the audience into the theatre. You need to integrate it in the story, and it should seem natural,” he added.

There was a time when Bollywood films were laced with provocative steps and suggestive lyrics, with actresses in skimpy clothes and extra focus on the cleavage, thighs or waist as an attempt to add oomph. Some resorted to showing the woman in a wet sari, or stretching a simple lip lock scene. Not to forget the visual metaphors denoting physical intimacy between hero and heroine — be it the brushing of flowers or dimming of lights.

Bollywood’s affair with sex has evolved. It has become mature and meaningful.

If Ayushmann Khurrana has brought issues such as sperm donation and erectile dysfunction to the spotlight with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan respectively, then there is also actor Vicky Kaushal bringing the plight of a husband who is unable to satisfy his wife onto the screen in Lust Stories.

Rajkummar Rao will be seen trying to improve people’s sex-life in Made In China, as a businessman selling aphrodisiac. Actor Boman Irani plays a sexologist in the film, which is presented by Dinesh Vijan in association with Jio Studios.

“I haven’t visited a sex clinic yet, but if I have to, there’s no shame in it. It shouldn’t be treated as a taboo,” Rajkummar said at the trailer launch of the film.

Sonakshi Sinha surprised the audience when she decided to essay the owner of a sex clinic in Khandaani Shafakhana this year.

Filmmakers are adding humour to make such stories lighter for consumption.

“When you present a subject like this, which can be dicey, talking about in a humorous way lets people understand it better. Why should we think of sex as a taboo, or go ‘haww’ at a mere mention? It is a part of life,” Sonakshi said, adding that it feels nice to know that “you are trying to get people to think or talk about about something which is not spoken about” with a film.

The audience is also accepting themes pertaining to sex with no hesitation.

“The audience has matured. For the youngsters, who go and watch movies, sex is not a taboo and that is why it can be woven into the storyline,” said trade expert Vinod Mirani.

“Bold and well-presented subjects are accepted. Sex is not a taboo anymore. It’s a part of normal life,” explained trade analyst Amod Mehra, pointing out: “At the same time, there are certain series on OTT platforms that cross lines at times. That’s an issue, which is alarming.”

Film and trade expert Girish Johar feels “the entire country is opening up and becoming mature”.

“Talking about sex and its projection as a subject in films is no longer a taboo. There was a time when the word was taken in a hushed tone. Not any longer,” he said, praising Ayushmann for taking up subjects that used to be brushed under the carpet for many years.

Bollywood has clearly opened the window for sex talk. It is to be seen how many get on with it.

It’s Official: Gemini Bags Sye Raa

Share

It was the first to report that Sun Network has bagged the satellite rights of “Sye Raa” for a whopping price.

The channel has announced this news officially on its social media platform.

Producer Ram Charan kept on demanding an unreasonable price for the satellite rights that made other big TV channels to back off.

Finally, it is Gemini TV (part of Sun network) that bagged the rights by paying Rs 25 crore for the Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages. This deal doesn’t include digital rights.

The digital rights were bought by Amazon Prime for Rs 50 crore.

The earlier media reports that the movie’s satellite rights were sold for Rs 125 Cr turned out to be false.

Producer Ram Charan made a good deal out of satellite and digital rights of ‘Sye Raa’ as he is getting Rs 75 Cr (South Satellite Rs 25 Cr + digital rights Rs 50 Cr for all languages) from this deal.

“Sye Raa” is releasing Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi languages on October 2nd.

Directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan, the film features Megastar Chiranjeevi in titular character and it has an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Sudeep, Vijay Sethupati and Tamannah.

Bigg Boss’s Nasty Tactics Against Baba Bhaskar!

Share

Bigg Boss is a reality show where people are the ultimate judges. But Telugu version of Bigg Boss seems to be against people deciding the winner.

They tried to favor a couple of contestants in the last season when there was a clear favorite.

After failing to gain control over people’s emotions, they decided to stop voting on Google this year. They don’t want social media followers and netizens to gain control over voting. Hence, they opted for voting on Hot Star App to which many have no access to.

Like the last season, Bigg Boss has some preferred contestants in the show this season too. It is obvious that the show is running completely in favor of Srimukhi and to an extent Punarnavi.

They are going to any length to help Srimukhi to be in the top 5 and are also making sure to make it easy for her in the final week. Hence, they don’t want Baba Bhaskar to be in the final 5. This is why they are repeatedly targeting ‘entertainer’ Baba through Nagarjuna.

They have sent Ali Reza with single agenda to target Baba and weaken him. Ali has been on a mission to make other contestants hate Baba by cooking up some controversies and theories against him.

Why does Bigg Boss want Baba out of the show at this point? Now it is clear that Varun, Rahul and Srimukhi have guaranteed spots in the final week.

Voting will be shared between Varun and Rahul as they have common fan base. Baba will split Srimukhi’s votes if he is in the final five making it easy for Varun or Rahul to win the title.

Hence, they want some weak contestants to be in the top 5 so that Srimukhi’s vote would be intact. People who keenly follow the show clearly understand what Bigg Boss is up to.

They wonder why to run a show for fourteen weeks when they don’t respect people’s mandate.

30-Acre Set for Vijayashanti’s Convenience

Share

That Vijayashanti is staging a comeback to the world of acting is known to all. She is playing the role of a lecturer in Mahesh Babu’s “Sarileru Neekevvaru.”

The story of the film is set in Kurnool town. Vijayashanti’s portions appear in this Rayalaseema city as per the story.

However, the film makers are not shooting her portions in Kurnool, but in Hyderabad.

Apparently, one of the conditions that the veteran actress has put before signing the film was that the shoot should happen in and around Hyderabad. She doesn’t want to shoot in harsh conditions of rural Rayalaseema.

So, the film makers have taken a 30-acre farmland on a lease on the city outskirts, closer to Outer Ring Road.

A sprawling house with adjacent farmland has been developed for her convenience. This house set also has all modern amenities. A maize crop has also been raised artificially to give it an authentic look.

As director Anil Ravipudi treating her with much respect and honouring all her demands, Vijayashanti is so impressed with him.

And she has also agreed to be part of his next movie titled “F3”.
