‘Three Capital’ idea is a national tragedy: Journalist Sekhar Gupta

Share

Renowned journalist Sekhar Gupta found fault the YSRCP government on the capital row. Sekhar Gupta analyzed various factors behind this but there were three prime reasons for Jagan government looking at other cities as capital.

The first thing, Sekhar Gupta said it is Jagan gives a damn about what Chandrababu has done and the second is, if it is a big idea, the successor has to take it forward. The third is Fear Of Having Missed Out (FOHMO). The journalist added that Jagan had missed out the opportunity to build a capital and even if he takes Amaravati forward, the credit will still remain with Chandrababu and his government which has pooled 33,000 acres of land and the work has started. Sekhar Gupta said that the rivalry between regional parties is not healthy and ultimately the people will be at the loss.

Calling India as a supreme hypocrisy state, Sekhar Gupta said, the four major cities in India i.e, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai don’t have the ability to grow and people are just piling up with in these cities without proper infrastructure. From Delhi to Chennai, there is a decline economically, quality of life, social indicators which resulted in huge regional imbalance. Post-Independence, India has built three cities and they are Chandigarh (Punjab), Gandhinagar (Gujarat) and Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh). Among the three, Chandigarh is the only green-field capital and Amaravati would have become the second one if the YSRCP government had positive vibes on it.

Further the journalist said, people of Andhra built an emotional connection with Hyderabad having brought their wealth to the city. After division of state, they moved and from the leaders to big business people, they had a golden opportunity to build a grand and in fact bigger capital than Hyderabad. The previous state government planned the same and acquired such huge land through innovative pooling method where farmers were made stakeholders and so Amaravati was launched on an ambitious note.

“Andhra has an entrepreneurial culture and that’s why I call Andhra’s entrepreneurs’ as ‘Andhrapreneurs’ and I thought they will build a big capital city and would become the first greenfield capital in India since mid 1950s and in more than 60 years. Unfortunately that has come to a stand-still as Jagan is skeptical about this project right from the beginning,” said Sekhar Gupta.

The journalist called the ‘Three Capital’ idea is a national tragedy and to have High Court benches in all three places, gets worst. The idea of summer legislature in Vizag sounds like 2020 Thughlaq’s rule and madness. We have a bad example of Jammu & Kashmir wherein the government shifts places depending upon the seasons

Sekhar Gupta opined that if YSR would have been alive, he would have moved out of Hyderabad and built a new city much bigger than Chandrababu and all at one place as he is visionary. What is happening right now in Andhra and Amaravati is nihilistic.

Further the noted journalist observed the West-Coast of India has good airport, labour work and others whereas the East-Coast lacked similar developed. Barring Chennai all the way to North in Kolkata, there is not even a single city that has a world-class airport. Amaravati had a good chance to build one and a large city too.

Summing up Sekhar Gupta hoped that Jagan government’s revives the Amaravati project which actually brings a significant importance to not just to the state but to the whole nation.

‘My career is not over’

Share

Nithya Menen is a household name in Tollywood and Ala Modalaindi, Ishq, Gunde Jaari Gallantaindi and S/O Sathyamurthy are some of her films that come in our mind when we think of this dynamic young lady. Being a prominent actress here in South, Nithya was also in-demand actress for a long period of time.

After NTR Kathanayadu, Nithya did not sign any Telugu film so far. Moreover, the actress also did not receive the National award despite being highly talented. When asked about the same, Nithya quoted ” As an actor, it feels great to be honoured with a National Award. I wish for the prestigious award with people’s love and affection. But, that film should not be a routine or have a mainstream story. A unique storyline which attracts viewers and stays as a memorable one is what I am looking for”.

She also added that ” I am not done with my career. My career is absolutely not over. I foresee a long career in front of me and certainly, I will strive hard for a National award-winning film. In fact, I consider myself as an amateur and never as an established heroine. I have a zeal in me and never felt what I have achieved so far is enough”.

With a decade long career in Telugu cinemas, Nithya took a plunge into Bollywood with ‘Mission Mangal’ this year. However, she failed to get the deserved recognition for her individually though the film went on to become a huge success. Nithya has been honoured with Filmfare, Nandi and IIFA awards and her accolades cannot be explained in words. Her acting prowess is what made the actress stay in the limelight for a long time but the harsh truth of actresses changing like seasons made Nithya fade gradually.

Netflix Shocker To Baahubali Makers: Stop It Please

Share

The web series of the story of ‘Sivagami’, which is based on the book Anand Neelakantan’s ‘The Rise Of Sivagami’ was supposed to release in November 2019. It is December already and there is no announcement coming from the makers, either from Netflix or from Arka Media. Here comes insider news of it.

Apparently directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru have shot the 8-episode Season 1 of “Sivagami” which will have Baahubali producers as the co-producers while Netflix funds it. However, the final cut of all the episodes is ready with visual effects over a couple of episodes wrapped. But the final output is said to have not impressed both Netflix and Arka Media folks.

As this web series is standing nowhere as a match to the Baahubali franchise created and crafted by Rajamouli, the makers of the TV series are said to have stuck in a dilemma. With the output turning out to be mediocre, Netflix is said to have taken a final call, as they have conveyed to Arka to ‘Stop It Please’.

Some say that Rajamouli himself will be stepping in to repair this TV series and finalising the things that need a reshoot or fresh shoot. But then, the TV series might not come even in 2020, say reports.

Rajamouli And Keeravani Never Did That Fingering

Share

When you are making a film with a star kid, no matter what they say initially, there will be fingering from the family members of that kid. That’s the reason why we see parents, brothers and sisters of star kids on the sets of their movies, where they interfere with the work of the director.

And now that young director Ritesh Rana has got debutant Sri Simha aboard, why wouldn’t his father, a legendary composer, and his uncle, a legendary director, would not interfere in the work? But the secret of the success of “Mathu Vadalara” is that neither Keeravani nor Rajamouli doesn’t know about the story or the film’s genre until they saw it in preview theatre.

Director Ritesh Rana confirmed that both the legends never visited the sets, nor they came to the editing table or they have asked him to come up with any particular type of scenes for their loved son. Many industry insiders are saying that as the two didn’t do the fingering unlike other star families, this film turned out to be a runaway hit.

Mathu Vadalara impressed audiences big time and then got theatres increased on the second day of release, where it is running to packed crowds now.

Buzz: Star Director’s Debut Film Kept On Hold?

Share

Star director VV Vinayak is not getting his elements right from some time as most of his recent directorial ventures ended up as flops. After delivering Intelligent with Sai Dharam Tej, the star director understood that somewhere it is going wrong. And by putting his direction job on a pause, he has now shifted to acting.

Already couple of schedules of Vinayak’s debut film “Seenayya” were shot and many expected that the film will be ready by January itself. But then, the film’s shooting is kept on hold as producer Dil Raju is not happy with the rushes of the movie. He’s said to have asked to keep the film on hold.

Currently, director N Narasimha Rao is said to be re-working on the script of the film such that they will go for a fresh schedule after Sankranthi season. And that too only if Dil Raju approves these script changes, then the film is likely to go for shooting again.

Also, the film unit has selected Shriya as a heroine opposite Vinayak, and now they might go for a change.

Mass Dreams Of Young Hero At A Huge Cost

Share

Young heroes and their mass dreams are a relentless quest that often results in something brutal. Many young heroes including the likes of Naga Chaitanya often try to leave their suited genre and try a hand at mass commercial movies. But then, most of the time those mass movies have given them a strong blow.

There is Naga Shourya right now who is openly saying that he is tired of people calling him a lover boy and hence he did ‘Aswathama’ with huge passion. Going by the teaser, the movie is full of action episodes and has thriller elements all over. Flaunting his chiselled body, the hero could be seen hitting goons into the air and out of the part.

Well, this is a big mass dream Naga Shourya is hoping to create magic at the box office like his colleagues. But often, lover boy heroes fail to pull off a mass movie because they fail to carry an entire movie on their shoulders effortlessly. In that scenario, we hear that Naga Shourya has spent more than 20 crores on this project, which is way beyond his market.

If the film turns a hit, everything will fall in place. But any slight variation in the result would cost Naga Shourya huge.

Prabhas Marriage Confirmed In 2020?

Share

Prabhas marriage is one of the most talked about, one of the most rumoured news in Tollywood over the years. There have been a lot of speculations surrounding his impending wedding. The 40-year-old actor’s marriage topic hits headlines on his birthday eve and new year eve. And the latest we hear is that the actor has finally given his go ahead and agreed to get hitched in the new year 2020.

None other than Prabhas’ own aunt and uncle Krishnam Raju’s wife Shyamala Devi hinted that Baahubali star would likely get married this year. She stated that the whole family is eagerly looking forward to Prabhas marriage. She said they had enough rumours, laugh on Prabhas marriage topic and the bride.

Shyamala Devi said the search for the bride is very much on and said the large family is looking for a girl who will mingle with all the family members. Since it is going to be an arranged marriage, they are looking out for a girl who would be compatible with Prabhas and would be equally good with all the family members.

Hit Or Flop, Dil Raju Stuns With That Quality

Share

Producer Dil Raju is the only big filmmaker of Tollywood who churns out films of all sizes every year. Without any fail, his production house is coming up with almost 4-6 films every year and making sure that at least a couple of them would become blockbusters.

The unique quality of Dil Raju’s production ventures is that those films will have high-quality production values, no matter what the content is. Even though the other day’s release Iddari Lokam Okate could not garner positive talk and reviews, the film’s awesome production quality has impressed many. Especially the way the songs of the film are shot has created a long-lasting effect.

If one has to make a slow-paced story watchable, surely these topnotch production values will do the needful. But then, lack of content makes rich production values useless as they don’t help in getting audiences to theatres unlike good audio and some hair-raising scenes.

But then, one has to applaud Dil Raju for bringing out a standard when it comes to the quality of the way films look.

Strategic retreat on Andhra capital shift!

Share

The sudden decision of the Andhra Pradesh state cabinet led by YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to defer the announcement on shifting of administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam has surprised many.

But it is believed to be more of a strategic move and tactical retreat than having any second thoughts. The announcement of a decision at the cabinet would have triggered violence in Amaravati capital region, as the farmers are highly agitated as was evident from the way they did not spare even electronic media journalists when they tried to play down their agitation.

So, in order to douse the fire, the Jagan government strategically delayed the announcement of the capital by constituting a high-power committee to take a comprehensive look into the whole issue and the repercussions of the capital shift.

The “yellow-media” did not ignore this key point. Both Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy promptly highlighted the fact that Jagan is hell bent on shifting the administrative capital and there is no question of going back on it. The constitution of yet another committee was only to see that the agitating farmers were reined in by using force or pacifying tactics.

The chief minister’s comment at the cabinet that his government would not be in a position to spend Rs 1 lakh crore on Amaravati was the focus of Eenadu, while Andhra Jyothy’s banner story said wind in the Jagan’s cabinet was blowing in favour of Visakhapatnam.

Sakshi, however, confined itself to the constitution of high power committee to study the report of G N Rao Committee and the yet-to-be submitted report of Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) to make a comprehensive action plan for the three-capitals formula.

Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s press meet where he accused Jagan of taking a U-turn on Amaravati and also asserted that the government would not incur even a single rupee was also given a big coverage by Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy.

The massive agitations going on in Amaravati region continue to hog the limelight in anti-establishment media. The situation was tense on Friday owing to the cabinet meeting and the farmers were fully charged-up for a violent agitation.

Sakshi carried a report on planned violence by the TDP groups and the attack on the media persons was not a spontaneous one.

Expectedly, Sakshi carried the banner story on the report of the cabinet sub-committee that probed into the irregularities and insider trading in the capital region. The committee has found several irregularities and unfair practices during previous TDP government. The State will take legal opinion and then refer the matter to either Lok Ayukta or go for a CBI or CB-CID inquiry.

Eenadu buried this report in the main cabinet story, while Andhra Jyothy conveniently ignored the same on the front page.

Interestingly, both Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy revived the argument for teaching in mother tongue. The issue came up for discussion at the World Telugu Writers’ Association. Former deputy speaker and TDP leader Mandali Buddha Prasad’s anguish over neglect of Telugu in the name of promotion of English medium was prominently highlighted by Eenadu.

The finalization of reservations for SCs, STs and OBCs in the local bodies was another report that made it to the front page of the Telugu dailies. Eenadu and Sakshi gave the factual report, but Andhra Jyothy twisted it saying the government was unlikely to conduct local body elections in the near future.
