Share

Vijay Deverakonda’s latest action drama Kingdom, directed by Gautam Tinnanuri, has opened to strong numbers at the box office amidst high expectations. The film collected an impressive share of ₹9.92 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on its opening day—marking the biggest opening of Vijay’s career so far. With no major releases scheduled this week, Kingdom is expected to continue its solid run over the weekend.

Breaking down the collections (excluding GST): Telangana contributed ₹4.2 crore, Ceeded ₹1.70 crore, Uttarandhra ₹1.16 crore, Guntur ₹75 lakh, East Godavari ₹74 lakh, West Godavari ₹44 lakh, Krishna ₹59 lakh, and Nellore ₹34 lakh.

Strong promotional content, high anticipation, and Vijay Deverakonda’s popularity were key factors behind these massive openings. Despite a string of recent flops, Vijay has managed to sustain his star power, and Kingdom has reaffirmed his status as one of the most bankable tier-2 heroes in Telugu cinema.

The film’s plot revolves around a police constable who embarks on a secret mission to Sri Lanka as a spy in search of his estranged brother. Bhagyashri Bhorse plays the female lead, while Anirudh Ravichander has composed the film’s music.

Rajinikanth Says Coolie’s Powerhouse Beats Hukum

Share

When it comes to electrifying mass numbers in South Indian cinema, Hukum from Jailer instantly comes to mind. The moment it was released, the song became an instant sensation, dominating social media and sending theaters into a frenzy. Its raw energy and perfect hero elevation made Hukum a benchmark for mass songs, a reference point for filmmakers for years to come.

Even Superstar Rajinikanth himself was deeply impressed. At the Jailer audio launch, he showered praise on music director Anirudh Ravichander—his own nephew—and even surprised everyone with a rare gesture: a kiss on the cheek. Rajini reportedly told Anirudh that no song could ever top Hukum.

However, things have now taken an exciting turn. After listening to Powerhouse from Coolie, also composed by Anirudh, Rajinikanth appears to have changed his mind. In a recent interview, Anirudh revealed that Rajini personally told him Powerhouse has surpassed Hukum.

Talking about Coolie, Anirudh only added to the buzz. He casually mentioned that he has already watched the full film and promised that the mass moments in Coolie are on another level altogether. In fact, he called it director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s best mass film so far. While Rajini’s legendary screen presence remains strong, Anirudh emphasized that the superstar has completely surrendered himself to Lokesh’s vision, giving the film a fresh and thrilling edge.

Anirudh also opened up about his creative process. Unlike many composers, he doesn’t follow a strict schedule. He usually wakes up around noon, spends time with family, and heads to the studio in the evening. His team of eight works very intuitively—if even one member feels a tune isn’t working, they scrap it and move on without hesitation.

With Coolie already generating sky-high anticipation and Rajinikanth himself declaring Powerhouse as a new benchmark over Hukum, fans can expect nothing short of a musical and cinematic feast. Going by Anirudh’s words, the mass moments are sure to be unforgettable.

Baloch Leader Warns Trump on Pakistan Oil Deal

Share

In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of a bilateral agreement to assist Pakistan in developing its “massive oil reserves,” prominent Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch has issued a strong statement urging caution. In a letter addressed directly to President Trump, Mir Yar Baloch warned that Pakistan’s military leadership has misled the U.S. administration regarding the ownership and geographic location of the country’s natural resources.

While acknowledging the accuracy of President Trump’s recognition of Pakistan’s untapped reserves of oil, gas, and strategic minerals, Mir Yar Baloch clarified that these resources are not situated in Pakistan’s Punjab province, but in Balochistan — a region he described as a historically sovereign nation currently under Pakistani occupation.

He asserted that any claims by Islamabad that these reserves belong to Pakistan are “false” and represent a “deliberate attempt to misappropriate Balochistan’s wealth for political and financial gain.” He further warned that allowing Pakistan’s military and intelligence agency, the ISI — which he described as radicalized and known for sponsoring terrorist groups — to access these resources would be a “grave strategic mistake.”

According to the activist, revenue generated from exploiting Balochistan’s natural wealth would not benefit the local population. Instead, he claimed, the profits would likely be redirected to fund anti-India and anti-Israel jihadist groups, further destabilizing the region and threatening global security.

Mir Yar Baloch urged the U.S. and the international community to recognize the struggle of the Baloch people for self-determination and to ensure that any foreign engagement in the region respects the will and sovereignty of its indigenous population.

“Balochistan is not for sale,” he declared. “We will not permit Pakistan, China, or any foreign entity to exploit our land and resources without the explicit consent of the Baloch people. Our sovereignty is non-negotiable, and our pursuit of justice and independence continues with dignity.”

The appeal underscores the geopolitical and ethical complexities surrounding foreign investments in resource-rich but politically contested regions like Balochistan.

Sunny Deol Turns to South Directors After Back-to-Back Hits

Share

There was a time when Bollywood used to look down upon South Indian cinema. South actors and filmmakers were often mocked, and their work wasn’t given due respect. But the scenario has completely changed now. The quality, scale, and impact of South Indian films have grown tremendously, and as a result, the craze for South movies in the North has skyrocketed. Today, Bollywood filmmakers are eager to collaborate with South stars, and audiences are excited to watch films from the South. Many Bollywood actors, from Shah Rukh Khan onwards, are showing great interest in working with South directors.

The success of Jawan, directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee with Shah Rukh Khan, which grossed over ₹1000 crore at the box office, has opened the floodgates. Similarly, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal with Ranbir Kapoor became a blockbuster, grossing close to ₹1000 crore. These successes have made Bollywood stars line up to work with South directors. Reports suggest that Aamir Khan is soon going to collaborate with Vamshi Paidipally.

Another example is the recent success of Jatt, starring Sunny Deol and directed by Telugu filmmaker Gopichand Malineni. The film turned out to be a big hit and continues to trend on OTT platforms as one of the most-watched Hindi action movies. Following this success, Sunny Deol is reportedly keen on doing more films with South Indian directors. Discussions are already underway, and sources say he has listened to several scripts and shortlisted a few. Very soon, his next project with a South director is expected to be officially announced, with the possibility of another collaboration lined up after that.

After a long period of flops, many thought Sunny Deol’s career had ended. For almost a decade, his films failed to make an impact. However, the massive success of Gadar 2 brought him back into the spotlight, and Jatt further cemented his comeback. Riding high on this momentum, Sunny has decided to work closely with South filmmakers, who are now dominating the Indian film industry with their strong storytelling and grand execution. His next big project, directed by a South Indian filmmaker, is expected to begin in 2026, with an official announcement coming soon.

UK-Educated Engineer’s Reddit Post Sparks Debate on Indian Student Struggles

Share

A candid Reddit post by an Indian engineer educated in the UK has stirred widespread discussion online, shedding light on the often-unspoken challenges Indian students face when pursuing education and employment opportunities in Britain.

The anonymous author, who claims to hold an MEng degree from University College London and to have earned up to £70,000 a year during their time in the UK, offers a blunt assessment of issues ranging from cultural integration and job market realities to the role of social capital. Identifying themselves as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), MIET member, and affiliated with CIGRE, the writer emphasizes that personal success abroad is often shaped more by communication skills and socio-economic background than academic merit alone.

“If you are a private school kid, you’ll make it into a firm somehow,” the post asserts, arguing that students from elite educational backgrounds tend to have an easier path into high-paying sectors like tech and finance. In contrast, the author claims many Indian students arrive ill-prepared, with unrealistic expectations about job prospects and life in the UK.

A controversial line — “Most of that percentage are idiots who ruin our name abroad” — drew immediate backlash for its sweeping generalization. However, the author stood by their comments, adding, “If you are triggered, the UK isn’t for you.” They also noted a demographic shift in the labor market: “4–5 years ago, all shops had no Indians working in them, and now every shop has only Indians working in it,” suggesting a growing saturation of Indian migrants in low-skilled retail roles.

The post has struck a chord across communities, sparking both agreement and criticism. One commenter wrote, “Study is not for migration. That is the worst mindset… a lot of Indians end up in low-paying jobs and some are illegal on the streets.” Another pointed out that these concerns transcend borders: “You could replace the UK with Canada and all of this would still hold true.”

After several years abroad, the author says they returned to India for family reasons, having achieved professional success in the UK. Their post has ignited a broader conversation about the gap between the overseas education dream and the on-the-ground realities many students face—particularly those navigating complex immigration systems and highly competitive job markets.

Vijay’s Final Film Jananayagan Faces Pongal 2026 Clash with Suriya’s Karuppu

Share

Kollywood superstar Vijay has officially stepped into full-time politics. Having transitioned into a political leader, he is also working on his final film, Jananayagan. The shoot of the film is in its final stages. Initially planned for release this year, the film has now been scheduled for Pongal 2026, as the makers want to capitalize on the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. For months, it was assumed that Jananayagan would get a solo release during Pongal, with no other big star films competing.

However, things have taken an unexpected turn. Sivakarthikeyan’s Parashakti has already been announced as a Pongal 2026 release. While fans believed that a Sivakarthikeyan film wouldn’t pose much of a threat, the real surprise came with the news that Suriya’s much-anticipated film Karuppu will also release during Pongal. Originally, Karuppu was planned for the end of 2025, but the release has now been postponed to January 2026, directly clashing with Vijay’s final film.

This clash has sparked heated debates among fans. If Jananayagan had a solo Pongal release, it was expected to open with record-breaking numbers. But with multiple films releasing during the same period, the number of screens will be divided, and opening collections could be impacted. Since Jananayagan marks Vijay’s farewell as an actor, his fans are demanding a solo release as a mark of respect.

Now, with Karuppu set to release at the same time, Vijay fans are expressing outrage on social media, accusing Suriya of disrespecting Vijay’s farewell by creating competition. While some are requesting Suriya to postpone his film, others are issuing stern warnings, insisting that Karuppu should not release during Pongal.

This clash between Jananayagan, Parashakti, and Karuppu has now become one of the hottest topics in Kollywood. Fans and industry watchers are eagerly waiting to see how this high-stakes Pongal 2026 box office battle will unfold.

Nani Balances Intense Drama with Romantic Next After The Paradise

Share

Natural Star Nani, known for effortlessly balancing intense dramas with emotional narratives, is currently busy shooting for The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela. This film marks their second collaboration after the 2023 blockbuster Dasara, which was set against a gritty rural Telangana backdrop. The Paradise also carries a strong Telangana flavor, with Hyderabad playing a key role in a period setting. Filming is progressing at a brisk pace, and the makers are targeting a grand release on March 26, 2026.

Earlier, Nani had announced a project with director Sujeeth, who is known for Saaho and the upcoming They Call Him OG with Pawan Kalyan. However, due to delays in Pawan Kalyan’s projects like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Sujeeth’s OG faced scheduling setbacks. This, in turn, pushed back the Nani-Sujeeth collaboration, prompting Nani to take up HIT 3 instead. The third installment of the popular HIT franchise released earlier this summer.

During HIT 3 promotions, Nani clarified that his film with Sujeeth is still very much on and will go on floors after he wraps up The Paradise. Meanwhile, the actor has signed another film, this time with director Shouryuv, who impressed audiences with his 2023 debut Hi Nanna. That romantic drama was both a critical and commercial success, and now the duo is all set to collaborate on a love story that promises to be softer and more emotional in tone.

The Paradise itself is shaping up to be a gritty, hard-hitting film, with its teaser hinting at strong language and intense violence. After completing this project, Nani plans to switch gears with Shouryuv’s love story, keeping Sujeeth’s film for later. This move reflects Nani’s strategy of balancing genres to avoid typecasting. Known for his versatility, this thoughtful choice ensures he continues to appeal to both mass audiences and family viewers who particularly enjoy his emotional and heartwarming roles.

Mayasabha Political Drama Trailer Released

Share

The trailer of Deva Katta’s political drama Mayasabha has been unveiled today. This Sony LIV original series is set to start streaming on August 7. As hinted in the earlier teaser, Mayasabha is a fictionalized political saga inspired by real-life leaders, reimagined with alternate names and events. The story follows the journey of two close friends who eventually turn into fierce political rivals, with clear parallels drawn to N.

Chandrababu Naidu and Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Aadhi Pinisetty plays Krishnama Naidu, a character based on Chandrababu Naidu. Chaitanya Rao Madadi appears as MS Rami Reddy, inspired by YSR. Sai Kumar takes on a role that seems modeled after N. T. Rama Rao. Unlike a gritty, realistic portrayal of political drama, the trailer opts for a stylized and cinematic narrative, leaning heavily into dramatization.

Produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni and Sree Harsha, the series features music by Shaktikanth Karthik and visuals by Suresh Ragutu. While the trailer doesn’t reveal many surprises, the series promises to explore friendship, betrayal, and power struggles when it begins streaming on August 7.
