Chiru Deserves Bharat Ratna For ‘Sye Raa’?

Share

Megastar Chiranjeevi has been receiving huge appreciation for his commendable performance in his latest blockbuster film “Sye Raa,” released all over the world on Wednesday.

No doubt, “Sye Raa” will remain the most outstanding film of his career. And if anybody demands a national award for Chiranjeevi for his great acting in the film, it is fully justified.

And if any fans of the megastar go a little further and demands that “Sye Raa” should be nominated Oscars with Chiranjeevi’s name in the best actor category, too, one can understand their love and affection for their favourite actor.

But, there is an interesting demand from Chiranjeevi’s fans who seem to be super excited with the success of “Sye Raa.”

President of Chiranjeevi Fans’ Association Swamy Naidu has demanded that the megastar be conferred with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country.

Swamy Naidu, who unsuccessfully contested as an MLA from Rajamundry rural assembly constituency in 2009 on the ticket of Praja Rajyam Party floated by Chiranjeevi, wrote a letter to the Centre to put forth his demand.

He said: “Indian Government must honour Megastar Chiranjeevi gaaru with Bharat Ratna Award for his awesome performance in Sye Raa.”

There is no doubt that Megastar Chiranjeevi is a legendary actor with an experience of 152 movies. He deserves the government’s honours.

He ruled the industry as number one star for more than three decades. But demanding Bharat Ratna for ‘an acting performance’ is something crazy.

But that is how fans of an actor react. By the way, Indian government has already honoured Chiranjeevi with Padma Bhushan, third highest civilian award.

May be, he will go one more step and get Padma Vibushan award sooner or later!

Naidu Found The Reason For His Defeat

Share

Finally, after four months, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu found yet another reason for his defeat. But, this reason too, is only his doubt and not a confirmation.

The other day, while participating in Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the party office in Guntur, Chandrababu Naidu said he had spent most of his time during the last five years in working for the development of the State.

While keeping himself busy for the State development, he said he could not find time for the party work. He could not spare time to interact with the leaders and cadre during the last five years.

“Had I kept the State interests aside and spent more time for the party, we would have won the 2019 election,” Chandrababu Naidu said with a question mark on his own remark.

Perhaps, this was one of the several other reasons that the TDP is finding in its post-poll analysis since the humiliating defeat in 2019 elections.

The TDP had lost two successive elections in 2004 and 2009. But, after every defeat, the party could analyse and find the reason for the defeat.

In 2004, the party found that Naidu’s CEO style had to be changed and there were repeated requests from the leaders and cadre that he should change.

Accordingly, he changed his style and was available for the party in NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad.

In 2009, the party found that its manifesto should have equal or rather more importance to agriculture. They felt that IT alone would not save the party or would not get votes. He changed the party manifesto.

In the run for the 2014 elections, Naidu brought more sops for the farmers, moving away from the IT, and had even promised total loan waiver, which was one of the reasons for his victory in 2014.

But, Naidu, with all his 40 years of political experience, is yet to find a reason for his 2019 defeat.

He is still in search of the reason and one of the reasons he found now is that he had no time to spare for the party between 2014-2019.

Will he be successful in this search and find the correct reason for his defeat, at least before the 2024 elections!?

Why was Jaffer forced to quit TV9?

Share

After controversial chief executive officer and showman V Ravi Prakash, one more famous face Jaffer has quit the popular Telugu television news channel TV9.

Jaffer, who shot into fame by interviewing over 175 politicians, exposing the ugly side of most of them, resigned from TV9 after a long stint of 15 years.

Because of his popularity on screen, he was chosen for Bigg Boss-3, but was eliminated within no time.

In his social media statement, Jaffer said he had resigned from TV9 because he felt he had lost the emotional connect with the channel.

“The TV9 management felt there is no need of my services for them. I have no differences with anybody nor am I angry with anyone. I only feel sad that my bond with the channel has now been broken,” he said.

However, enquiries revealed that the new TV9 management has forced Jaffer to resign from the channel for the simple reason that he is still continuing his association with Ravi Prakash, who was virtually necked out of the organisation.

Apparently, Jaffer attended the birthday party of Ravi Prakash a few days ago and was actively involved in the celebrations with his ex-boss.

This had gone to the notice of the new management of TV9, which asked an explanation from Jaffer.

However, it was not satisfied with the explanation given by Jaffer and asked him to put in his papers, sources said.

Jaffer may either join the new channel being planned by Ravi Prakash or start his own digital news media, it is learnt.

Big money and liquor in Huzurnagar!

Share

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of distributing huge cash and liquor to lure voters of Huzurnagar constituency to seek their votes in the bye-elections to be held on October 21.

Uttam told a series of election rallies that the TRS had already sensed a humiliating defeat in Huzurnagar and therefore, its leaders had been trying all means to lure voters by way of distributing cash and liquor worth crores of rupees.

Stating that the cash and liquor being distributed by TRS leaders was from the ill-gotten money they accumulated through corruption in different projects, he advised the voters to take whatever is being given to them, but vote for the Congress candidate Padmavathi Reddy on October 21.

However, he said that the use of cash, liquor or the misuse of police and official machinery would not help TRS in evading a certain defeat in Huzurnagar bye-elections.

He asked people to question TRS leaders on non-fulfilment of promises of waiver of crop loans upto Rs. 1 lakh, 3 acres of land for Dalits, unemployment allowance for jobless youth and other failures.

Naidu Likely To Campaign In Huzurnagar

Share

Hyderabad: As the campaign picks up in the by-election for the Huzurnagar assembly seat, equations are changing.

While the Communist Party of India (CPI) has extended support to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) headed by M Kodandaram is supporting the Congress.

And the Telangana Telugu Desam has requested the support of CPI (Marxist). It may be recalled that the CPI(M) candidate P Sekhar Rao’s nomination was rejected and so the CPI (M) is not in the fray.

Telangana TD president L. Ramana held preliminary discussions with Telangana CPI(M) secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram on this issue. Veerabhadram said that the party will take a decision after discussing it.

In fact, the CPM had proposed to field its candidate a joint contestant from the Left Front. However, the CPI wanted its candidate to be the joint Left Front candidate in the bypoll.

With no agreement in sight, the CPM went ahead by fielding its candidate, whose nomination was later rejected, leaving the party out of the electoral fray. The CPI, meanwhile, decided to back the TRS candidate.

Congress leaders led by Gudur Narayana Reddy met TJS president M. Kodandaram on Wednesday and sought his party’s support for their candidate.

The negotiations were successful and the TJS will support the Congress candidate Padmavathi Reddy.

Speaking to the media, Mr Narayana Reddy thanked Mr Kodandaram for extending the support.

He said that Telangana state is facing severe agricultural, financial and health crises and in this context the Huzurnagar by-election could make a huge impact not only on the present government but also on the overall political scenario.

Meanwhile, Telangana TD leaders said that their party’s national president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu could campaign for his party’s candidate.

During the Telangana Assembly elections last year, Naidu and the then Congress president Rahul Gandhi had campaigned in several constituencies.

Instead of helping his party candidates, experts claim that Mr Naidu’s campaign had actually helped the TRS to win several Assembly seats.

Even now TRS leaders say if Mr Naidu campaigns in the Huzurnagar by-election it will only help their candidate.

Keep going Balayya!

‘War’ Storm Dents Sye Raa in Certain Pockets

Share

Contrary to perception, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer “War” affected the collections of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s dream project “Sye Raa”. The Hindi version of ‘Sye Raa’ has fallen flat at the box office across India.

‘War’ also dented the collections of “Sye Raa” in the Nizam region.

On the first day, the Telugu version of “Sye Raa” has raked in a huge figure – Rs 8.10 Cr. This is an all-time third highest opening in Nizam after “Baahubali 2” (Rs 8.90 Cr) and “Saaho” (Rs 9.40 Cr).

However, “Sye Raa” would have easily crossed the collections of “Baahubali 2” had “War’ not competed with it.

Whereas, “War” has not shown any impact on the collections of Megastar’s movie in Andhra Pradesh. “Sye Raa” set box-office by storm in Andhra.

The Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer secured a good number of screens in Hyderabad and the collections were also pretty superb.

On the other hand, the Hindi version of “Sye Raa” has managed to rake in only Rs 1.75 crore on its first day across India.

Critic Reviews For Sye Raa

Share

Megastar Chiranjeevi is elated to see the responses for his recently-released film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, which hit the theatres on October 2.

The film, directed by Surender Reddy is based on the life of Telugu freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.

Huge hype going around the film before its release, the film got excellent reviews from critics and even fans.

TimesOfIndia
The story-telling has its flaws, but the characters are intriguing. What’s impressive is the massive canvas the film is mounted on. Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy might work only in bits and pieces, but the scenes in which the film works makes it all worthwhile!

Rating: 3.5/5

Firstpost
At a runtime of nearly 170 minutes, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy tells a fascinating story about a rebellion that’s never been explored in Telugu cinema. Despite the familiarity of the genre, the film relies quite a lot on Chiranjeevi’s screen presence. And he packs a punch and how.

Rating: 3.5/5

IndiaToday
The major flaw of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is that it’s too formulaic. You can almost guess what’s going to happen and with a runtime of 2 hours and 47 minutes, the film is a tad bit long. Even though the stunt sequences seem superficial, they are good to watch on the big screen. Cinematographer Rathnavelu’s work is exceptional. The use of colours, lens flare and framing elevates the film.

Rating: 3/5

The Hindu
Chiranjeevi might be introduced to the audience while in meditation, under water, but the film does all it can to play to his superstar image. You could debate if some of the conversations and slogans actually happened, or give in and see how well the crowd-pleasing format has been pulled off. Chiranjeevi leads from the front, showing that he isn’t done yet and is still a superstar. It’s one of his memorable performances too.

Hindustantimes
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has some jagged edges and in the hands of, say, a Rajamouli, it would’ve been a far better film. Surender Reddy may not have done a great job in handling the subject but he succeeds in making it accessible to the masses, and in the process, delivers a film that scores high on emotions and drama.

Deccanchronicle
The film’s high technical values definitely lift the Telugu cinema’s standards. Cinematography by Ratnavelu is a boon for the film, especially his capture of locations as well as the battle-scenes. Burra Sai Madhav’s dialogues are well-timed, some of them enthralling too. The background music is good and elevates the scenes.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a good watch. Telugu cinema, which was going places after Baahubali, gets still further with this film.

Rating: 3.5/5

DNAIndia
Sye Raa has enough strength to start a rebellion even today. It is a tale of how the warrior changed the future with his life and even in death.

Rating: 3.5/5

Share

Limited over specialist Rohit Sharma made a big statement with his unbeaten century on the first day of the first Test against South Africa in Vizag. Rohit came in place of KL Rahul and in the practice match the Mumbai batsman disappointed. But Rohit did not carry that score in the official Test and in 154 balls, he brought his ton with ten 4s and four 6s.

Rohit was aptly complimented by young talent Mayank Agarwal who also remained unbeaten on 84. But it was the rain that played the spoilsport as the umpires abandoned the play due to overcast condition.

By the end of the first day’s play, India’s scorecard stood at 202 runs for no loss of wicket and 59.1 overs were bowled.

Before that it was India’s skipper Virat Kohli who has won the toss and elected to bat first.
