‘Sye Raa’ Is Not A Biopic: Surender Reddy
In what could be a completely unexpected twist, director Surender Reddy has claimed that the film ‘Sye Raa’ is not a biopic. Director Surender Reddy reportedly made this statement before the Telangana High Court.
The successors of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy have filed a petition in the High Court to stall the film’s release. The case came for hearing on Thursday and the advocate on behalf of Uyyalawada successors argued that the film has completed the censor and urged the court to stop the release.
But the censor board countered that they did not issue the certificate and will take a call by Monday. So the court has put off the case to Monday.
Descendants Uyyalawada have been agitating against ‘Sye Raa’ for the past few days. Few of them staged a protest at Ram Charan’s office and alleged that as per the agreement, they are yet to make the payment. Doravaari Dasthagiri Reddy and four others are the petitioners against ‘Sye Raa.’
Can Maruthi’s Bhajana Batch Match Those Standards?
Almost all the top shot directors of Telugu industry are talking about making web series these days, and then some are actually making them. The likes of Nandini Reddy, Ram Gopal Varma have already come up with some, but they failed to impress. And here comes Maruthi, joining the gang.
‘Bhajana Batch’ is an upcoming web series about a gang of con-artists who cheat people with their disguising looks and acts. It features the likes of Posani Krishna Murali and Jabardasth comedians like Getup Sreenu in major roles. Can this Maruthi production, directed by struggling director Chinni Krishna, match the standards we are seeing on major web streaming apps is the main question now.
Though people might see routine content inside theatres, they are not preferring such content on the web. The web series we have on Netflix and Prime Video are of top standards when it comes to content freshness and execution. Lack of Censorship doesn’t mean just vulgar language and nudity, but they are exploring new verticals and domains of concepts.
Cut to Maruthi’s films, we have simple concepts with lots of comedy and such things don’t work on web streaming apps. So we have to see what is he coming up with really through Bhajana Batch.
Vijay Devarakonda Starts It Without Any Sound
Dasara season is quite important for films and sometimes, films released after a big holiday season also fetch huge advantage to themselves. Following this logic, Vijay Devarakonda is getting ready to release his maiden production venture Meeku Maatrama Chepta on October 18th according to reports.
Despite the fact that the release has three weeks time and promoting anything before actually Sye Raa storm cools down will be a waste of time and money, Vijay has devised interesting plan to market his movie. His leading man Tarun Bhaskar, anchor Anasuya and couple of comedians from the movie have kickstarted the promotions by visiting colleges.
We are hearing that the team of Meeku Maatrame Cheptha will be visiting as many colleges as possible in Telugu states before the film hits the screens. Surely that is gonna help the film as youths will identify with it.
Also, Vijay Devarakonda and team are said to have shot a promotional song for the film which was shot at Ramoji Film City already. Once Sye Raa releases, they are going to release this song as well to attract more audiences.
Review: The Family Man – Season 1
Raj and DK have made a name for themselves in Indian Cinema industry with movies like Shor in the City, Go Goa Gone and Stree. They always come up with quirky ideas and concepts that are sometimes marred because of the limited reach their kind of cinema has. Raj and DK making a Television series sounded promising right from the day it surfaced in the news. With National Award winning actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani playing the leads The Family Man had all the makings of an engrossing Television series. It is an action drama which tells the story of a middle class man who also secretly works for National Investigation Agency called TASC.
The characters are designed so naturally that we would instantly find a connection with them. The middle class setting where both husband and wife have to work to run the house and the husband who couldn’t reveal much about his job to his wife and his family sets the tone for the series. Manoj Bajpayee is effortlessly casual in making his character Srikant Tiwari instantly likeable and very much relatable. The character is introduced like a vulnerable simpleton who is a bit timid to be doing such a challenging job. However, there is a new recruit who addresses him as ‘The Srikant Tiwari’, which tells us there is a lot more to him than that meets the eye. Srikant joins in the middle of an action scene in between a police-terrorist combat and shows us how big a hero he is without even flexing a muscle.

The story juggles between the family scenes and the protagonist dealing with a planned terrorist attack. Family scenes are mostly fun specially with the scenes between kids and father on point, but the husband and wife drama turns out to be too stereotypical. However, Priyamani as Suchi is given her own parallel plot and character graph that may give mixed feelings. Priyamani being a fine actress pulls off some ordinary scenes that would have ended up spoiling the mood if played by someone else. Despite Priyamani’s best efforts her subplot about career-change and ‘friendship’ with co-worker doesn’t fit into the action and fun setup. There is another thread where a hospitalized terrorist bonds with a nurse named Mary. This seems a bit over the top and too convenient. Threads like these eventually turns out tedious in the fourth and fifth episodes of the season.
Amid all of the above, there is no shortage of action though. Sequences where the protagonist and his team follow a potential terrorist Sameer are very gripping. Most of the action scenes are impactful making us sit on the edge of the seats. These scenes make up for some seemingly unnecessary subplots that almost kills the attention of viewers. In the middle of so much drama and action, the creators give us a fine thread of friendship between Srikant and JK Talpade (played by Sharib Hashmi who is extremely endearing). The chemistry between Manoj and Sharib is a pleasure to watch.

The family man angle takes a back seat once the action is shifted to Kashmir. Things get a bit serious with the protagonist chasing international terrorists. Scenes where he goes to Balochistan should have been handled better as they are presented in a simplified manner. There is a lot of scope for building the tension in those episodes. Even characters like Saloni (Gul Panag) didn’t add any value to the proceedings. The attempts at making Gul look cool and showcasing the chemistry she shares with Manoj miserably failed to create any impact.
Operation Zulfiqar sounds threatening until the protagonist gets closer to it and loses steam once he figures out who is behind all this. The scene where the operation is countered is pretty basic and doesn’t live up to the buildup that was given to it till that point of time. Then the plan B seems pretty rushed thus making the final episode of the season underwhelming than what it should have been. The deliberate attempts to make audience curiously wait for the second season also seems forced. Threads like finding the video evidence of Sameer’s encounter and what might have happened between Suchi and her co-worker makes us curious compared to the mission itself! Terrorist operations towards the end are dealt in such a flimsy fashion. Perhaps they should have ended the first season when we get to know about the Plan B. That could have left better impact than this final episode that is criminally underwhelming.

One would expect the final episode to be a nail-biting experience given the tension that the series builds towards it. Technically the series is taut with superb cinematography and well paced editing and the performances from the principal star cast are excellent. The lighthearted tone that they maintained throughout the series without deviating from the main plot is impressive. The series is largely engaging in spite of a few gaps and lows here and there. The pace is uneven and some episodes seem too long and unnecessary. However, despite all the shortcomings, The Family Man is an entertaining and fairly engaging series that could get better in the coming seasons. On a whole, The Family Man is worth giving a shot amid the sea of content available online and it wouldn’t disappoint you.
Pawan Kalyan Fans Advised To Focus On Sye Raa
It has been a tough month for Pawan Kalyan’s hardcore fans as they have focused on trolling YS Jagan and then shifting to Save Nallamala campaign, which has led them losing their Twitter accounts big time. While the accounts are restored to normal, here is what they are advised to do right now.
Though there are lot political issues that Pawan’s fans who have Twitter accounts that got huge number of following, want to talk about, we are hearing that they are advised to restrict themselves to Sye Raa for a couple of weeks. Some of the admins are already informed that Sye Raa should be helped because lots of budgets went into the making of the movie, and this help will take the word to all the deep corners of Telugu states.
With Pawan himself giving voice over to the movie and attending the pre-release event where he spoke about his mega brother Chiranjeevi in awe, surely one can expect even his fans pulling out greater support for Sye Raa movie. Also, a strong social media presence ensures that Sye Raa will get those big numbers in the initial days to recover the mammoth budgets.
Prabhas’ Next Gets Costly Telugu Villain
Recently released movie of Superstar Prabhas is full of top-notch actors including for a small role that had only a minute of screen time. With Saaho getting stellar of star cast that has the likes of Jackie Shroff, Lal, Neel Nitin Mukesh, Mandira Bedi and others, somehow their presence didn’t add anything to the film’s prospects in Telugu states.
Understanding that Prabhas is making sure that his next movie will have all prime characters of the upcoming movie being directed by Radhakrishna Kumar of ‘Jil’ movie fame. Especially after a lot of discussions, finally, the team of this film has decided to pick this noted Telugu hero as a villain for the movie. Yes, none other than Jagapathi Babu is likely to wear the shoes of the antagonist of the movie.
Though it is popularised that there is no villain in this love story film, there is a negative shaded character that drives the story and Jagapathi is the most suitable one for that role, the filmmakers felt. Reports are coming that he will be joining the second schedule of the movie that is going to be kickstarted very soon.
In his next, Jagapathi Babu will be seen as a villain in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa where he backstabs Uyyalawada to join the Britishers and enjoy the riches.
Sye Raa In Court: What Are Previous Judgements Saying?
Taking their stir to next level, one Dastagiri Reddy who claims to be a descendant of Uyyalwada Narasimha Reddy has taken the issue to Court along with four other family members. Their primary demand is to make the film’s release halted and the film is screened to them before issuing a Censor certificate. Also, they demanded a royalty to be paid.
With the film Censored already, there is no chance of stopping the certification and the counsel representing Sye Raa makers made it clear to Andhra Pradesh High Court that there is no need of showcasing the film to Uyyalwada family as they won’t have any proprietary rights over the story of the freedom fighter.
Previously in cases like Mangal Pandey and Veerappan, High Courts have ruled out family members having any rights over the story, because a historical or public figure’s life belongs to the nation and anyone could make a film on it. At the same time, AP High Court itself gave a judgment in favor of the film ‘The Dirty Picture’ when Silk Smitha’s brother objected over the biopic.
Regarding the 20-50 crores, money Uyyalwada family is demanding, Sye Raa’s advocates confirmed that their producers will be helping the family for education and medical expenses but won’t give them any money at all.
Swamiji Mediating TDP Leader’s Entry Into YCP?
It looks like another wicket will be down in the already tumbling TDP in Andhra Pradesh. As per the latest political buzz, former TDP Yelamanchili MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu is all set to join the ruling YSRCP government.
Currently, Ramesh Babu will be joining the YSRCP on the auspicious Vijaya Dasami in October 2nd week. Interestingly, YS Jagan’s close confidante and spiritual guru Swami Swarupanandendra Saraswati is rumoured to be mediating Ramesh Babu’s entry into the YSRCP.
After meeting MP Vijaya Sai Reddy, Ramesh Babu also visited the Sarada Peetham and sought Swarupanandendra Saraswati’s blessings. Ramesh Babu made his political entry through PRP in 2009. He later joined the Congress and then shifted his loyalties to the TDP ahead of the 2014 elections. In 2019, he was defeated by the YSRCP MLA Kanna Babu.
