Vacate your house, Sujana tells Naidu

Share

Ever since he defected from Telugu Desam Party to Bharatiya Janata Party in June, Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary has been extremely careful in making any comment against his former boss and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

For, Sujana Chowdary owes his political career to Naidu and everybody is aware that he had defected to the BJP only to avoid being targeted by central investigation agencies like CBI and Income Tax department for his alleged illegal business dealings.

In fact, there were even reports that Naidu himself had sent Sujana and another industrialist-turned-politician C M Ramesh into the BJP in order to save him from the central investigations.

Though all the other BJP leaders continue to criticise Naidu, Sujana has been deliberately avoiding making critical comments against his ex-boss.

But there will be times when he has to make some criticism on the TDP and Naidu, at least mildly, for the sake of public consumption to prove that he is in a different party now.

So, now and then, Sujana has also started talking critical against Naidu.

On Wednesday, the BJP Rajya Sabha member found fault with Naidu for continuing to stay in his rented residence at Vundavalli, though the government declared it as illegal.

“It is not Naidu’s permanent house. He is there only as a tenant. The dispute over whether it is legal or illegal is between the owner and the government. How is a tenant bothered about it? When the government declares it as an illegal, Naidu has to vacate the house immediately. Why should he continue to stay there and make an issue out of it?” Sujana asked.

Though it appeared like a criticism, Sujana was more or less giving an advice to Naidu to vacate the house which is in litigation, since it will not fetch any mileage to him.

Another Bigg Twist: Ali Reza Reenters Bigg Boss!

Share

Well, this news has been buzzing across social media ever since Ali Reza exited the Bigg Boss Season 3 and it is turning out to be true now. Yes, Ali Reza is reentering Bigg Boss house again.

Interestingly, Bigg Boss didn’t conduct any poll or something for audience to choose whom to send again among the evicted contestants.

Ali Reza has stayed out of the show for many days already. It is unfair towards the existing players to send him again this late into the house.

With less than five weeks to the finale, few contestants would find it hard with all the information that Ali gathered by staying out of the house.

Bigg Boss followers are furious about the news as it would favor contestants like Srimukhi if Ali makes a reentry.

Bigg Boss has been finding it tough to break the Varun-Vithika-Rahul-Punarnavi group in spite of many attempts and it looks like sending Ali in is their biggest trick to create the rift between them or at least boost the confidence of star players like Srimukhi.

Despite receiving flak for not conducting the reality show in a fair way, Bigg Boss organizers are still trying to run the show according to their whims and fancies.

Facing existential crisis in T’gana, TDP may skip by-poll

Share

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which stayed away from the Lok Sabha polls in Telangana, was unlikely to contest the October 21 by-election to Huzurnagar Assembly seat, party sources said.

The party, which is facing existential crisis in Telangana, has left the decision to party national president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

A section of TDP leaders feel the party should skip the by-election to save itself from embarrassment, others favour joining the fray to show it was still alive in the region.

The TDP didn’t field candidates in the 17 Lok Sabha seats in 2019 polls. It was the first time since its formation in 1982 that the party stayed away from polls in the region.

Analysts say, the TDP, seen as Andhra party by many, is almost finished in Telangana as it lost almost the entire leadership to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) since 2014. In recent months, some has joined the Congress and others switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After making inroads in the Lok Sabha polls by winning four seats, the BJP is projecting itself as the alternative to the TRS and there is hardly any political space left for the TDP in Telangana, say analysts.

The TDP is also demoralised after losing power in Andhra Pradesh. Though Naidu recently held talks with few party leaders from Telangana, the revival prospects appear bleak.

The TDP had contested the December 2018 Assembly elections in alliance with the Congress, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS). The four-party alliance, led by the Congress, was humiliated as it could win only 21 seats in 119-member Assembly.

The TDP bagged just two seats and one of the MLAs subsequently crossed over to the TRS.

The TRS, which retained power by winning 88, consolidated further by luring as many as 15 MLAs from the Congress and other parties to join its ranks.

It’s likely to be a direct fight between the TRS and the Congress in Huzurnagar constituency as the BJP is unlikely to make any impact.

That the TRS is taking the by-election seriously was evident that within a couple of hours after the announcement of poll, the party declared candidate. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, also the TRS chief, decided to again field S. Saidi Reddy, who lost the vote in December 2018.

Saidi Reddy lost to Congress state chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy by 7,466 votes. The by-poll is necessitated by resignation of Kumar Reddy from the Assembly after his election to the Lok Sabha from the Nalgonda constituency.

The by-election will be the first major test for the TRS, which suffered a blow in the Lok Sabha elections with the BJP and the Congress winning 4 and 3 seats, respectively.

However, the TRS recovered by making almost a clean sweep in rural local body elections in June.

Saidi Reddy will be locked in a keen battle against Padmavathi Reddy of the Congress. She is wife of Kumar Reddy. She had lost the Assembly elections from the Kodad constituency.

Modi is ‘Father of India’: Trump

Share

The United States of America President Donald Trump has made a sensational statement calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘Father of India.’ Speaking to the media before the bilateral talk, Trump said, “I remember India before which had a lot of dissension, lot of fighting. But Modi brought it all together. Like a father of a house, may be he is the father of India. We would call him the father of India.”

Then Trump went on to compare Modi with American singer and actor Elvis Presley. “The Howdy Modi showed how much people of his country like him. I have great respect, admiration and I really like him. He is a great gentleman and a great leader,” added Trump further.

After the bilateral talks, external affairs secretary informed the media, the Trump and Modi’s meeting lasted for 40 minutes and terrorism is the prime agenda of their discussion.

Trump reiterated that he is ready to mediate the Jammu & Kashmir issue but at the same time he clarified that he would intervene only if both India and Pakistan agree. “Modi is there to take care to deal with terrorism and he has already sent a strong message to Pakistan and I think Pak PM Imran Khan is listening to it,” said Trump in the meeting.

After revoking the Article 370, the BJP government has set its eyes on Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). If at all the Modi government plans to attack PoK, it requires the international community support especially that of the United States. So far Modi and Trump met thrice this year and their bonhomie kept growing. Also in the presence of Trump, Modi at ‘Howdy Modi’ indirectly targeted Pakistan and its sponsored terror groups.

All in all Modi’s USA tour is going as per the plan and is highly successful.

Pay the bills immediately, HC Tells Jagan govt

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed the experts committee appointed by the CM YS Jagan which was assigned to review the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The G.O. number 63 and the letter written by Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) for renegotiations of the tariffs are squashed by the High Court and also directed the state government to pay off their bills immediately.

The High court justified the decision of the AP government of approaching the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) for review of PPAs and also added that this issue should be settled in six months time. This is a setback for the companies that have knocked by the High Court for the government asking for a review of PPAs.

The Court observed that in case the power tariffs are too high according to the government, they should look out for various ways that can compensation that higher rates.

Only under extreme circumstances, the government can intervene in APERC but has not authority to summon the commission, said the court in a statement.
