Uyyalavada descendants cry foul over Sye Raa!

Share

Descendants of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy, a freedom fighter who led a peasant rebellion against the British in Kurnool district in mid-19th century, staged a dharna in front of the office of megastar Chiranjeevi at Jubilee Hills on Saturday, seeking justice to the family.

It is a known fact that Chiranjeevi’s forthcoming mega film “Sye Raa” is based on the life history of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy.

According to the family members, they had provided all the information to the producers of the film regarding Narasimha Reddy’s life history, their family background, their culture and also the locations in Kurnool where the freedom fighter had waged a battle against the British.

“The film makers assured to extend monetary benefits to Uyyalavada family members for providing all the information about Narasimha Reddy. Even Chiranjeevi had promised to do justice for us. But after the completion of shooting, the film makers have completely ignored us,” they alleged.

As the Uyyalavada family members were raising slogans at the office of Chiranjeevi seeking justice, the Jubilee Hills police entered the scene and took them into custody. They were taken to the police station later.

Infosys opens centre in Arizona, to hire 1,000 techies

Share

Bengaluru: Global software major Infosys has opened a technology centre at Phoenix in Arizona, US, to accelerate innovation for its American enterprises.

“We will hire 1,000 American techies over four years to work at the centre in the southwestern state for the local enterprises,” said the city-based IT behemoth in a statement, here on Saturday.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey inaugurated the centre in the presence of state officials, company executives, employees and representatives of a few enterprises.

The centre, housed at the Arizona State University (ASU), will focus on autonomous technologies, Internet of Things (IOT), full-stack engineering, data science and cyber security.

“Our investment in the centre will attract local and global talent. Hiring is underway to recruit around 500 techies by 2020 and reduce the IT skills gap in the state,” it said.

Infosys Chief Executive Salil Parikh said the Arizona centre, the company’s sixth of its kind in the US since 2017, was set up to help local enterprises go for digital transformation at the earliest.

“The centre allows us to collaborate with our clients across the country in an agile manner,” said Parekh.

The centre will also leverage and empower the workforce to bridge the skill gap in the market and accelerate the digital agenda of its clients.

“Our focus will be on harnessing, modelling and scaling a new model for workforce development in the US, where the private sector has a key role to implement it (model) or learning and on-the-job training,” said company’s president Ravi Kumar.

The centre boasts of living labs, showcasing prototypes in virtual reality, augmented reality and robotic technologies and will help foster co-creation, training and collaboration.

Lauding Infosys for foraying into the state, Ducey said its presence reinforced Arizona’s reputation as a tech hub and one of the best places to relocate and expand.

The centre will allow the company to develop cross-functional solutions to pressing business challenges in machine learning, artificial intelligence, user experience and advanced digital technologies, such as big data and cloud.

As part of its commitment to workforce development and bridging the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skill gap in the US, the $11 billion outsourcing firm also announced a partnership with InStride to allow its employees complete degree programmes and education courses through ASU.

“Infosys’ commitment to Arizona and learning speaks of the strength of talent in our community. We welcome it as a partner that will boost our competitiveness in the global economy,” said ASU president Michael Crow.

BJP steps up heat to celebrate T’gana Liberation Day

Share

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Telangana on Saturday called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and demanded that the state government officially celebrate Telangana liberation day on September 17.

A delegation of party leaders led by BJP’s state unit chief K. Laxman met the governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted her a memorandum.

This was the first meeting by state BJP leaders to submit a memorandum since Soundararajan assumed office as the governor on September 8.

Later, Laxman told reporters that the party will intensify the movement to bring pressure on the state government to officially celebrate the day.

He alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government under pressure from its ally All Indian Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) was not organizing the official celebrations.

Recalling that BJP for the last 20 years had been fighting over the issue, Laxman alleged that successive governments of Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and TRS followed vote-bank politics by not officially celebrating Telangana Liberation Day.

It was on this day in 1948 that erstwhile Hyderabad State merged with the Indian union following “police action”, as the Indian military operation against Nizam’s army is popularly called.

Laxman announced that BJP will organise hoisting of national flag and also hold ‘Tiranga Yatra’ across the state to mark the day.

The party will organise a public meeting at Patancheru. However, Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah will not be attending the event as was earlier announced by the party leaders.

Laxman said only BJP could pay true respect to the freedom fighters who fought against Nizam and his ‘razakars’ and build Telangana of the dreams of freedom fighters.

That is happening with film celebs as well and suddenly actress Amala Akkineni’s family background, lineage and ethnicity have become a topic of discussion.

As many wrong reports are doing rounds about the background of Akkineni Kodalu, the actress, wife of Nagarjuna and mother of young hero Akhil, has given clarity. Of course, most of us know that Amala’s mother is an Irish lady and her father is a Bengali who served in the Indian Navy. But for others, here comes the full history.

“My mother is Irish and yet my mother in law always said she was more Indian in spirit than many Indians. My father is Indian – who grew up in UP and served in the Indian Navy. He was born in Dhaka, East Bengal before it was called Bangladesh. Unless one understands history, one will never understand the pain caused by partition. Cmdr. M.K.Mukherjee, (Rtd.IN, VSM) is a proud Indian and a Bengali” Amala said, in a statement.

Black Money Act: Ambani Family Gets IT Notice

Share

In biggest news, the Income Tax department has served notices to India’s business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s wife Nita and their three children Akash, Isha Ambani Parimal and Anant.

The notices were served by Mumbai IT wing under provisions of the 2015 Black Money Act for alleged undisclosed foreign income and assets. However this report claimed that the notices were served to the Ambani’s way back in March, 2019 but the news broke out on Saturday.

Behind serving the notices, there is a huge story and it all started with the government getting proper information about 700 Indian individuals and entities holding accounts in HSBC Geneva and the number increased to 1,195 by 2015. Among them, a cluster of 14 accounts held USD601 million through associate and offshore holdings that are linked to Reliance group.

Based on this the government directed IT department to launch a probe and on February 4th, the report was ready. But the IT department dodged for few weeks before serving the notices. Reacting on the reports of IT notices, spokesperson of Reliance group has denied such notices.

What’s Wrong with Vijay Devarakonda’s Heroines?

Share

Young hero Vijay Devarakonda has worked hard and chosen some hitting subjects that he gets a big break in no time. Films like Pellichoopulu, Arjun Reddy, Geetha Govindam and Taxiwala brought him fame, name and more big offers. So what about the heroines of those films?

First, we have Pelli Choopulu fame heroine Ritu Varma who hasn’t even picked a single Telugu film after that blockbuster. She was seen in couple of Tamil movies but nothing worked and finally, she is working with Sharwanand in a Telugu movie. But this is not the kind of career graph one would expect from her after Pellichoopulu.

Then we have Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey, who has picked some sub-standard films post that blockbuster. She’s now waiting for Raj Tarun’s upcoming film Iddari Lokam Okate. Definitely these are not the kind of projects anyone would expect from her after phenomenal debut film.

Coming to Taxiwala fame Priyanka Jawalkar, though the pretty girl wants to show off her sizzling curves on the silver screen, somehow opportunities are not coming her way. Other than a small budgeted movie, she has nothing big in hand.

One wonders what is wrong with Vijay Devarakonda’s heroines as they are not able to take off after getting a stupendous kickstart with debut movie.

Another Good Move By YS Jagan

Special Status is a sentiment among the people of Andhra Pradesh. It grants many exemptions for the state to grow and unfortunately due to previous government, it was compromised. For the ‘Special Status’ many people agitated and went to jails.

In a good move by the YSRCP government, all the cases against people who have protested were asked withdrawn. On Friday the government has issued G.O number 773 informing the Director General of Police (DGP) that the department of Home Ministry is dropping all the cases recorded earlier. The GO also mentioned the DGP to instruct advocates to file a petition for withdrawal in the concerned courts.

As per Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Act 2014, AP should get five years of ‘Special Category Status.’ The BJP government in New Delhi replaced the ‘Special Status’ with ‘Special Package’ to which then state government accepted. But this did not go well with common people and political parties. Many have protested in the state and in New Delhi, yet it remained as an unreachable fruit.
