Avengers Stopped Far Away From Baahubali 2

Share

At the Bollywood box office, cinema experts are busy comparing the collection of Baahubali 2 Hindi version (the top Bollywood grosser) with all the big releases all the time. And recently they have compared it with Avengers: The End Game collections as well, and the second week collections indicate that the Hollywood flick is nowhere in the race.

A couple of weeks ago, taking the whole of Avengers End Game collection from Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and other languages into consideration, Bollywood trade analysts have earlier claimed that the film has beaten Bollywood’s biggest hit Baahubali 2. But if they took Baahubali 2 collection from all languages into consideration, then the film will fall back ages. Even after the second week, Avengers haven’t pulled off any better.

While Baahubali 2 Hindi made 145+ crores nett collection in two weeks of time, Avengers End Game made 75+ crores after two weeks of the run. And in between them, there are almost half a dozen films like Dangal, PK, Sanju, Bajrangi Bhaijan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Its impossible for Avengers to touch Baahubali 2 now in Hindi itself while beating its India wide collection is simply impossible.

Nagarjuna Not Giving Any Financial Support

Share

A few days ago there are reports everywhere that senior hero Akkineni Nagarjuna is going to jump in to give financial support for Akhil’s upcoming project. And now, few sources close to Geetha Arts camp have ridiculed this.

Apparently, Allu Arvind has taken the onus of giving the right film for Akhil and he has roped in director Bommarillu Bhaskar to prove his mettle yet again through a movie with this hero. Rumours have that Arvind has laid cap on the budget and decided to make the film with only 20 crores. But Nagarjuna is said to have intervened to say that he will be investing the rest of the money the project needs, such that the film will look lavish and great.

There is no truth in such rumours, says sources close to Allu Arvind, as they have decided that to make this film on a minimal budget such that Akhil will get his first ever profit-making movie. Despite collecting crores of shares, most of Akhil’s three movies ended up as cost-failures. And that’s the reason they are thinning out the expenditure. Also, Nagarjuna is not at all interfering in this project as he knows that Arvind would do the right thing.

Despite Poor Show, Here Is Why Pooja Hegde Clicks

Forget about how the films are faring, the performance of lead girl always makes a mark and that is how the likes of Samantha and Kajal Agarwal are able to survive through umpteen flops and yet remain as star heroines. But what makes dusky siren Pooja Hegde stand by them?

Films like Aravinda Sametha and Maharshi have seen Pooja in the lead role, but not at least in one scene, she has impressed the audiences big time. And still, she is the sought after siren for filmmakers in Tollywood as she has set of films like Prabhas and Allu Arjun’s upcoming movies.

The reason what we hear is that Pooja Hegde comes to shooting on time, leaves in the last; shows no tantrums and gives umpteen days to promote a movie. Looking at the recent promotions of Maharshi, one could understand that better. While she has good looks and sexy screen presence, these added characteristics are making her producers comfortable with her.

They say that some star heroines don’t come for promotions or give only 2 days and some don’t do films if their favourite people are not included in the cast and crew. But Pooja has no such tantrums and hence she is being roped in by many filmmakers, a source said.

Teja Handles Biopic Controversy With Care

Share

Ever since director Teja came out of NTR biopic and Krish took the reigns, many wanted to ask him as to why he’s ousted from the movie. And finally, with ‘Sita’ movie promotions starting up, the maverick director cannot escape from facing questions over that issue.

During his latest interaction with the media, when Teja was quizzed as to why he opted out of NTR Kathanayakudu, the director revealed that after looking at the depths of the story of NT Rama Rao, he felt that he’s not an appropriate one to direct the movie. Rubbishing off all the reports that he and Balayya had differences over the story, Teja added that directing that biopic needs guts which he didn’t have.

At the same time, Teja is not feasting on the flop show of both Kathanayakudu and Mahanayakudu. “I would have made worst biopic than Krish, who knows,” he said. From being that sharp tongue to this diplomatic guy, Teja is showing a lot of change these days for sure. We have to say that he is handling the controversy with care.

Tamil, Kannada Beatuies For Balayya

It is not usual to see a female antagonist opposite star heroes, particularly in Telugu. In the recent past, some actresses shown interest to play such negative roles. Be it star actress Trisha in ‘Kodi’ or Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar in ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sandakozhi-2’, Kollywood audiences were okay with the idea of seeing the glamorous ladies confront a star hero.

The 34-year Varalakshmi impressed as a villain in Vijay’s Sarkar and Vishal’s Sandakozhi-2 and this time, she is more likely to play the negative role in Telugu. According to our latest reports, the award winning actress has been roped in for the villain role in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming movie with KS Ravi Kumar. Despite having many projects in her kitty (in both Tamil and Kannada), Varalakshmi has reportedly agreed to be part of Balakrishna’s film in Telugu.

However, we do not know if she is the only villain in the film which is yet to be named. Rumours are indicating that it could be titled as ‘Rowdy Inspector’ and Kannada beauty Hari Priya could play Balakrishna’s love interest for the second time after ‘Jai Simha’, which also was made by KS Ravi Kumar. However, we will have to wait for an official confirmation from director or makers on Varalakshmi’s onboarding and other details.

KCR’s mind blocked after Stalin meeting!

Share

DMK chief M K Stalin did a Mahesh Babu in “Pokiri” to TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, when the latter met him in Chennai on Monday to invite Stalin to join his Federal Front.

In Pokiri, superstar Mahesh Babu blocks the mind of villains with his powerful punches on their head.

In the same way, Stalin blocked KCR’s mind by asking him to join Congress-led UPA instead of making futile attempts to forge his Federal Front.

Leaders present in the KCR-Stalin meeting revealed that Stalin’s comments left KCR shell shocked for a while and KCR could not even utter a single word for few minutes unable to recover from the punch delivered by Stalin.

It took some time for KCR to recover, who left Stalin’s house in a huff later without speaking to media present there.

When KCR met Stalin last year in April 2018, both the leaders addressed the media jointly after the meeting.

KCR was supposed to visit Puducherry after meeting Stalin. But KCR flew straight to Hyderabad and left to Pragathi Bhavan after his mind was blocked by Stalin.

Upset and angered at Stalin, KCR reportedly cancelled all his plans to visit other states before Lok Sabha results on May 23 to forge Federal Front.

KCR realised that he does not have the capacity to influence leaders of other parties and make them join his Federal Front, which remained a non-starter even after one year.

KCR wants to make another attempt on forging Federal Front after Lok Sabha results on May 23.

But who will listen to KCR then?

Ravi Prakash must attend May 15 questioning

Share

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad cyber crime police will serve a notice to V Ravi Prakash, former CEO of Associated Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd, under Section 41 CrPC, asking him to be present before the investigating officer at 11 am on May 15.

With Ravi Prakash failing to present himself before the police to record his statements under Section 160 of CrPC (requiring attendance of witness), twice, the police had to take a step further and serve the notice under Section 41 of CrPC (police officer may without an order from a magistrate and without a warrant, arrest an person under certain circumstances).

Two cases were registered against Ravi Prakash and others in connection with the complaints lodged by P Kaushik Rao, director of Alanda Media and Entertainments Pvt Ltd, alleging forgery and theft of data from ABCPL.

Former chief financial officer of ABCPL M.K.V.N. Murthy has appeared twice for questioning.

With this, the investigators of the case have decided to serve notice to Mr Prakash under Section 41.

“Ravi Prakash has failed to attend questioning twice despite serving notices under Section 160 of CrPC. A fresh notice under Section 41 of CrPC is served to him to attend for questioning before the investigating officer of the case before 11 am on May 15,” official sources said.

The sources said that they would arrest Ravi Prakash if fails to attend on May 15.

ECI shunts out official over screening of ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’

Share

The Election Commission on Monday shunted out joint collector of Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district for his failure to stop screening of Telugu movie ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’in theatres early this month.

The ECI transferred Joint Collector Koteswar Rao to non-election post. This followed State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi recommending action against him.

The poll body also announced that the release of the movie will not be allowed till May 19, when the last phase of Lok Sabha elections is scheduled.

Three theatres in Kadapa had screened aLakshmi’s NTR’ on May 1 in violation of the orders of the poll body.

The managements of the three theatres ignored the orders and exhibited the movie in May 1 morning show. When local revenue officials came to know of this, they let off the theatres with a warning.

However, the CEO took strong note of the incident. The official concerned on May 3 seized the theatres.

Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma planned to release the movie in Andhra Pradesh on May 1 but the CEO had made it clear that the orders restricting the film’s exhibition were still in force.

Varma was asked to adhere to the Election Commission’s April 10 order, restricting the exhibition of the film till further orders.

‘Lakshmi’s NTR’, which was already released in theatres in Telangana last month, deals with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao’s second marriage with Lakshmi Parvathi and subsequent events including revolt by his son-in-law N. Chandrababu Naidu and NTR’s death.

The Election Commission had refused to allow screening of the movie in Andhra Pradesh after some TDP functionaries approached it. They alleged that the film depicted Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu in a negative manner and this could impact party’s poll prospects.

Elections to 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state were held on April 11.

When will Prabhas Break Pumpkin?

There are contradictory reports about the shoot of Prabhas’s “Saaho” that is still under progress. The movie’s major promotion and PR activity is being handled by Mumbai team.

It is Bollywood media that is getting first hand information about “Saaho” than the local Telugu media.

“Saaho” is directed by Sujith and produced by UV Creations. Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Schroff, Mandira Bedi and Neil Nithin Mukesh are playing key roles.

Mahesh Cancels Holiday To Boost Maharshi’s Collections

Superstar Mahesh Babu is jubilant with the commercial outcome of his latest film Maharshi. He went on to pull off a collar-raising stunt that has gone viral across social media platforms. He also planted a peck on director Vamshi Paidipally’s cheek as a gesture of gratitude.

Mahesh was supposed to go on a holiday with family, but our sources informed that the Superstar has postponed all his holiday plans for a few days.

Mahesh is planning to tour the theaters of Maharshi to make sure that the film’s collections doesn’t drop in the coming days.

Mahesh wants to push the film’s commercial prospects to another level by touring the theaters as well as interacting with farmers and students.

Trade is predicting Maharshi to be the first film for Mahesh to cross Rs. 100 crore share, but Mahesh has other plans.

He is doing his best to push the film further so that it could set Non-Baahubali records at the box office.

Although the film is creating wonders in areas like Nizam and Krishna, it’s performance has been below par in US.

Will Naidu merge TDP with Congress?

Share

What will Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu do, if his party fares miserably in both the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections, results for which will be declared on May 23?

Well, YSR Congress party feels Naidu might consider merging his party with the Congress in order to sustain the party leaders and cadre.

Senior YSRC leader and former minister Tammineni Sitaram said Naidu must be mulling the idea of folding up his party by merging it with Congress as the imminent defeat was looming large on the TDP, notwithstanding the tall claims made by his friendly media over his “kingmaker” role at the Centre.

Sitaram said his friendly media had been projecting him as a national leader going around West Bengal, Delhi and Karnantaka, uninvited and may be unwanted as well.

“The May 23 results would give the worst ever defeat for him and he will in all probability merge the party with Congress due to lack of probabilities and alternatives. If it happens, it will be unfortunate that the party which was born to decimate the dominance of Congress should be merged in to it,” he said.

He ridiculed that the TDP leaders were facing a piquant situation and were not in a position to even tell how many seats the TDP would win when the results are announced in ten days’ time.

“Naidu has boasted of playing a kingmaker at the Centre but his poor performance back home will dwarf him on the national canvas,” he said.

Sitaram said instead of speaking about their prospects in 2019 battle, TDP has been predicting on other parties more so on BJP which is ridiculous.

KCR may not be averse to back Congress-led coalition

Share

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao may not be averse to extending support to Congress-led government at the Centre, sources said.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief is believed to have conveyed this to DMK leader M.K. Stalin during the meeting with the latter in Chennai on Monday.

While Rao called on Stalin to drum up support for proposed Federal Front for formation of a non-BJP and non-Congress government at the Centre, the DMK leader suggested that TRS should extend support to Congress-led coalition to prevent BJP from coming to power.

Sources said KCR told Stalin that if Congress emerges as the single largest or second largest party in Lok Sabha, he may not be averse to extending support to it. He recalled that TRS was earlier a constituent of United Progress Alliance (UPA) led by Congress.

KCR’s meeting with Stalin came a week after the TRS chief called on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram to discuss federal front.

Karanata Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s telephonic conversation with KCR last week also came amid stepped up efforts by the TRS chief to give a shape to an alliance of regional parties.

The series of meetings with leaders from south also sparked the buzz that KCR is trying to push for a leader from the south as the prime ministerial candidate.

Despite fact that DMK is an ally of Congress and Stalin on more than one occasion proposed Congress president Rahul Gandhi as the prime minister candidate, KCR’s meeting with him threw hints that he is ready to bury the hatchet and work with Congress.

The Congress is KCR’s main adversary in Telangana and since last month 11 out of 19 MLAs of Congress have defected to TRS.

KCR, who was part of Manmohan Singh cabinet in UPA-I, had cordial relations with Congress leadership. In fact, one of the reasons for Congress granting statehood to Telangana was its calculation that TRS will merge with it.

However, after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, KCR decided to keep TRS as a political entity, evoking sharp reaction from Congress, which accused him of betrayal.

In this context, the meetings with Stalin and telephonic talk with Kumaraswamy are being seen as attempts by KCR to build the bridges with Congress.

It has been a year since KCR floated the idea of Federal Front as an alternative to both BJP and Congress to bring a qualitative change in the national politics.

The agenda he tried to project was the cooperative federalism. He wants the Centre to allow states to grow in true spirit of the federal structure enshrined in the Constitution.

Sources said KCR may be trying to bring southern states on a common platform to demand the Centre to fully implement cooperative federalism by devolving more powers and funds to the states.

The TRS chief remained confident that once the poll results were announced, it would not take much time for Federal Front to take shape. His son and TRS working president K. T. Rama Rao recalled that even UPA had come into existence only after 2004 polls.

The TRS leaders believe that both NDA and UPA will fall short of majority by huge numbers. They predicted 150-160 seats for BJP-led NDA and 100-110 seats for Congress-led UPA.

They are of the view that Federal Front will give a platform to the parties where they can root for their respective states and the rights of the states in more federalistic setup.

TRS is counting on the support from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which is likely to win 20-22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. TRS leaders believe that this along with their 17 (including one seat of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) will give the Telugu states a good bargaining power.

The southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka together have 129 Lok Sabha seats.

TRS leaders expect that if non-BJP non-Congress parties win 150-170 seats, they will be in a position to decide who the next prime minister should be.

Modi’s media interview triggers new questions

Share

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interview to News Nation may have already caused enough embarrassment to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters, but the fact-checking website Alt News now suggests the PM had prior knowledge of questions to be asked.

Alt News Co-founder Pratik Sinha created a thread on Twitter that suggested that the interview was scripted.

“PM Modi is asked to recite a recent poetry of his in the @NewsNationTV intvw. He asks for HIS file, which is duly handed over, and he starts fiddling with a bunch of papers. The paper on which there’s a printed copy of a poetry also has a printed question on the top,” Sinha posted on Twitter.

The post was accompanied by an image that showed part of that question — I want to know from poet Narendra Modi if he’s written anything in the past five years? — as well as the poem.

“The part of question that is visible in the papers held by PM @narendramodi matches word-to-word to the question asked by the anchor Deepak Chaurasia,” Sinha said.

He also posted a “slowed down” version of the video (sans audio) in which the Prime Minister flips through the papers present in his file.

Sinha’s “thread” was retweeted thousands of times as people found new fodder for fun in the interview, which earlier drew a lot of criticism for what is now commonly referred to as Modi’s “cloud theory” on the Balakot air strike.

Modi was trolled on Twitter for his remarks that he had asked the Air Force to carry out Balakot air strike on February 26 in bad weather as his “raw wisdom” said a cloud blanket would help the Indian fighter planes escape Pakistani radars.

The prime Minister also came under attack for claims of using digital camera, email in 1987-88.

“An interview clouded by radar claims, email claims, digital photography claims. Now this — evidence that the interviewee already had the questions given to him,” former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.
