‘No Doubt, Nabha Is Ileana 2.0’
It looks like Ram Gopal Varma is in no mood to stop promoting his erstwhile assistant director Puri Jagannadh’s latest blockbuster ‘iSmart Shankar’. But now, RGV is seem to have smitten by the beauty and charms of one of the film’s heroines, Nabha Natesh.
RGV took to his Twitter this morning and tweeted, “After seeing #issmartshankar, I have no doubt that Nabha Natesh is Ileana 2.0.” However, only RGV knows whether he compared Nabha with Ileana in terms of her looks or acting. RGV also posted a picture in which he was posing with Nabha during one of iSmart Shankar’s success parties.
Needless to say, Nabha is on cloud nine with RGV’s appreciation. Thanking RGV, she told him that she has been a fan of his movies and that it was an honour to meet him. RGV continued to surprise Nabha, saying that he became her fan after watching iSmart Shankar.
Nabha did impress everyone with her chirpy acting with a care a damn attitude and voluptuous looks. Thanks to the film’s grand success, Nabha will get more bankable projects with top banners and star heroes.
GVL or Sujana? Who’ll Get Modi’s Blessing?
As part of its expansion plans in the Telugu states, BJP is mulling over to appoint a Union Minister from Andhra Pradesh. Since Kishan Reddy from Telangana has been roped in for Union Minister of State for Home, now BJP is keen to appoint a Union Minister from AP. It is buzzed that Modi and Shah wants to appoint a Rajya Sabha member belonging to AP for the key post.
The names doing the rounds are BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao from Uttar Pradesh state and Sujana Chowdary who recently ditched TDP and jumped into BJP. Although GVL was nominated to the Upper House from UP, he hails from AP. Native of Prakasam district, GVL’s family is settled in Guntur. He has been highly vocal and sharp critic against Chandrababu Naidu and his government earlier.
On the other hand, Sujana Chowdary had earlier served as the MoS for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences in Modi’s previous government. He along with 3 other Rajya Sabha MPs from TDP – CM Ramesh, Garikapati Mohan Rao, TG Venkatesh – have jumped into BJP. Apparently, Modi and Shah are confident that Sujana Chowdary would bring in more TDP leaders into BJP’s fold and strengthen the party in AP. Since Sujana also has good financial backing, the party may bank on Sujana for its strengthening in AP.
Meanwhile, allegations against Sujana and none other than GVL’s series of allegations on him during the previous tenure may become hurdle for the former. Let’s wait and see, who will bag the post from AP. Will it be GVL or will it be YS Chowdary?
Oh Baby Comes Closer to $1M mark
Samantha starrer “Oh Baby” is inching towards to touch the coveted $1 million milestone. By the end of the second week, the film grossed $920k.
In its third weekend too, Samantha’s movie is attracting decent crowds.
While “iSmart Shankar” is heading towards $200 mark in its opening weekend, “Oh Baby” is eyeing $1 million mark
The film’s cumulative gross around $960k.
The highest-grossing heroine-oriented film in the USA is Anushka starrer “Bhagamathi” that collected a lifetime gross of $1.1 million. Samantha’s next target is to breach this.
The film’s family-oriented content and Samantha’s excellent performance has made the audiences to watch it on the silver screen.
Added to this factor, all recent new releases bombing at the box-office is another reason or such big money for “Oh Baby”.
On the other hand, “Brochevaruvera” has closed its run with a total cumulative gross of $385k.
Will Narasimhan Continue Or Not?
Suspense continues over the fate of E S L Narasimhan as Telangana governor, after the Centre appointed a separate Governor for Andhra Pradesh.
Soon after senior BJP leader from Odisha Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan was appointed as AP Governor, there was a talk that the Centre would soon replace Narasimhan, too, in Telangana.
Lending credence to the speculations, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao went to Raj Bhavan and discussed the possibility of his transfer.
But on Saturday, the Centre appointed six more Governors – Anandiben Patel for Uttar Pradesh, Jagdeep Dhankhar for West Bengal, Ramesh Bais for Tripura, Lal Ji Tandon for Madhya Pradesh, Phagu Chauhan for Bihar and R N Ravi for Nagaland.
Narasimhan’s name doesn’t figure anywhere nor was there any new Governor for Telangana. It led to the talk that the Centre has decided to retain Narasimhan for Telangana, as he is familiar with the Telangana politics.
Though he was appointed by the UPA government in 2012, Narasimhan of late has come closer to the BJP leadership, thanks to his association with National Security Adviser Ajith Doval.
May be, the Centre might also be looking for a right choice for Telangana, as the BJP leadership is looking for capturing power in the state by 2023!
Fact Sheet: Naidu Behind Manda Krishna
A few days after having praised YS Jagan Moahn Reddy, MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga made a U-turn and slammed the Chief Minister for his remarks on ‘SC Classification’ in the Assembly.
He also found fault with YS Jagan for being prevented from taking out a ‘Padayatra’ and threatened to launch protests across all District Collectorates demanding SC classification.
Responding to this YSRCP Bapatla MP Suresh Nandigama said Manda Krishna Madiga lacked credibility and was not sincere about the upliftment of the SC community.
“Chandrababu Naidu is clearly instigating Manda Krishna against the government. Has there been any Chief Minister who has given a Corporation Head portfolio and two Ministries to SCs, in the past? YS Jagan did that. SC classification is not in the hands of the State government, but the Centre,” said Suresh.
BJP eyeing disgruntled TDP leaders
The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh has not been able to attract Telugu Desam Party MLAs because of the threat of disqualification from their assembly membership.But, it seems to be succeeding in luring disgruntled TDP leaders who had either failed to get party tickets in the recent elections or those who lost the elections with huge margins.
For example, the BJP leaders successfully managed to lure senior TDP leader K Chalama Reddy from Macherla in Guntur district.On Saturday, Chalama Reddy hosted lunch for senior BJP leaders including Somu Veerraju and N Venkat Rao at his Macherla residence. He announced that he would soon join the BJP.
In 2014 assembly elections, Chalama Reddy lost to YSR Congress Party’s Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy from the Macherla Assembly constituency. He continued in the party and worked hard to rebuild the party in Macherla.But TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu ignored his loyalty and gave the party ticket to another leader A Anji Reddy.
Though Chalama Reddy and his followers staged a protest near Naidu’s Vundavalli residence, he could not get justice. Now, he has decided to join the BJP.Similarly, another senior TDP leader Saikam Jayachandra Reddy from Chandragiri in Chittoor district is also all set to join the BJP.
On Friday, BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana went to Saikam’s residence for dinner and both of them discussed the state politics.Saikam, who left the Praja Rajyam Party and joined the TDP before 2014 elections, was made AP Civil Supplies Corporation chairman. But now that the TDP has no chances of recovery, he has decided to join the BJP.
Ganta blackmailing Naidu for PAC chief post?
Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao managed to win the recent assembly elections from Visakhapatnam (north) constituency with a slender margin of 1,944 votes over his nearest rival K K Raju of YSR Congress party amidst dispute over counting of votes.
During his previous term, Ganta used to dominate Visakhapatnam politics and made several enemies within the TDP including former minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu from Narsipatnam.
There were several allegations of corruption and land grabbing against him in Visakhapatnam.
But ever since he won the elections again, Ganta has not been very active in the TDP politics. He is not taking active role in the assembly and unlike in the past, he is not visible anywhere.
There was a talk that Ganta might take a plunge into the Bharatiya Janata Party to safeguard his political and business interests, but that has not happened as of now.
According to the latest reports, Ganta is said to be bringing pressure on party president and leader of opposition in Andhra assembly N Chandrababu Naidu to nominate him for the post of Public Accounts Committee chairman, if the latter wants him to continue in the party.
PAC chairman is a very crucial post with a lot of powers to go through every account of the state government and point out irregularities if any. It is suspected that a lot of money changes hands while scrutinising the public accounts.
As part of convention, the PAC chairman post is given to a senior member from the main opposition party.
As such, the post in the present assembly will go to the TDP. And Ganta wants the post, probably with a view to cover up his alleged scams.
However, Naidu has other legislators in mind like Payyavula Kesav or Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, who have been more loyal and committed to the party.
It remains to be seen what Ganta would do if he does not get the post.

Mythri Movie Makers has become one of the top production houses in Telugu cinema industry within no time.
They have entered the film industry with Srimanthudu and went onto score two more blockbusters Janatha Garage and Rangasthalam in a row.
However, their idea to make medium budget films didn’t yield good results as Savyasachi and Amar Akbar Anthony have broken their success streak.
After reviving a bit with Chitralahari they are looking to bounce back strongly with Dear Comrade that is releasing on this Friday.
Three good friends Ravi Shankar, Mohan and Naveen established Mythri Movie Makers.
While Ravi Shankar takes care of the production and other responsibilities Mohan and Naveen are the active business partners. Now, Ravi Shankar is also in plans to become the business partner, to which Mohan is totally against.
Mohan is also reportedly unhappy with recent developments in Mythri Movie Makers. He is upset as they missed out on a chance to make another movie with Mahesh Babu.
He tried to patch up Mahesh and Sukumar by asking the latter to apologize to the former. He is upset with a few decisions taken by his partners and decided to part ways.
Mythri Movie Makers will be taken forward by Naveen and Ravishankar and Mohan will get separated after completing the legal formalities.
Interestingly, similar thing happened with 14 Reels Entertainment that was also established by three partners and later Anil Sunkara walked out of it to establish his own production company.
Nagarjuna Spreading All The Wings For Promotions
Investing in promotions is the key factor for the success of films in recent days. Even if the content is terrific, lack of promotions will kill the buzz around the movie. Though big heroes of Telugu industry never do immense promotions, it looks like Nagarjuna wants to change the formula.
Before he starts hosting Bigg Boss 3, Nagarjuna Akkineni has already announced that he will be coming up with Manmadhudu 2 on August 9th. That said, he’s not leaving the promotions to just teasers, trailers and interviews, but also started producing some unique things to do the same.
After releasing a poster that features the work of FaceApp, Nag came with a video where he’s seen coercing director Rahul Ravindran to do some odd things at a restaurant. This prank play is something we see inside Bigg Boss house, and it looks like Nag got the reality shows nerve right.
With Nagarjuna spreading all the wings for promotions, the addition of people like Rakul Preet, Samantha and Keerthy Suresh to promote the film will surely made it a big draw on opening day.
Is Puri Jagan Back With iSmart Shankar?
iSmart Shankar is refusing to slow down as it continues to rake in superb collections on its third day. It is set to become a blockbuster in terms of return on investment.Puri Jagan sympathizers are elated with the success of iSmart Shankar. They feel that the maverick director is back in the reckoning again so that top actors would make a beeline for him.
But is Puri Jagan really back with iSmart Shankar?
The film is just a bit better than most of his recent outings. The eccentricity and over the top mass elements are all over the film.Puri has found a perfect match in Ram who has totally surprised everyone with his ‘tapori’ act. Mani Sharma’s music and explosive promos played a big role in creating the buzz.
Will this type of content and style work for big stars?
In fact, iSmart Shankar would have ended up disappointing if there is a big commercial star playing the lead.People don’t expect a lot out of a mid range star like Ram, which is why they are ignoring some mistakes and shortcomings in the film.
Maybe Puri should stick to working with tier 2 heroes as he gives a makeover to them and help them penetrate into mass markets.Also he should be aware of the string of flops that preceded iSmart and be careful about striking a balance between commercial appeal and eccentricity.
