A newcomer will be directing this film that will be produced Meghamsh’s debut film Rajdhoot producer.

Samantha Scores Hat-Trick With Respect To Heroes

Share

Like Samantha stated already, she always wants to do some different films from the now as she has already succeeded to the top and now time to prove her quality rather than running after quantity. And she’s coming up with “Oh Baby” next month where she entertains as an 80-year-old lady with 24 years old’s body.

And this ‘Oh Baby’ finishes a different type of hat-trick for Samantha as she starred in three films back to back where she has eaten away the screen presence of heroes in Telugu. It started with ‘U Turn’ where she foreshadowed Aadhi Pinisetty with her presence. Then her own husband Naga Chaitanya went invisible for her stint as Sravani in ‘Majili’. Now, it looks like Naga Shourya is getting drowned in the glorious presence of Samantha in ‘Oh Baby’.

If this new film also clicks, then Samantha completes this unusual hat-trick of dominating heroes in a row and walking away with all the applause. That is, of course, a proud moment because she is bringing back the days of female-centric films in Tollywood.

Pic Talk: Mokshagna Makes The Rumours True

Share

There is hearsay all these days that Nandamuri Balakrishna’s son Mokshagna is not getting ready to get launched any sooner as a hero. It has that he is not turning fit in terms of his physical appearance. And now, the young one proved it.

Other day when Mokshagna was leaving in a car in Jubilee Hills area, someone clicked him from a pretty close distance. While he looks charming and handsome, surely he has to lose oodles of weight to create a right appeal. Only then he will be able to please his father’s mass fans.

Another rumour is that Mokshagna is not at all interested in making his film debut and he wants to get into the business. Unlike the way rumours about his physical appearance came true, fans are hoping that his ‘no acting debut’ will end up just as a rumour only.

AP to get conditional special status?

Share

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has proved a man of strong willpower and that he is hell-bent on achieving what he has in mind.

Jagan is aware that his party has come to power riding on the sentiment of special category status to Andhra Pradesh and that the people believed him and not Naidu, who had taken a U-turn after compromising with the Centre and accepting special financial package.

But soon after coming to power with a landslide majority, the YSRC chief sought to create an impression that it might not be possible to get special category status to AP as the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre had got huge mandate and it might ignore repeated pleas of the state.

Yet, Jagan said he would continue to pursue with the demand and hoped that it would materialise one day or the other.

Apparently, when Jagan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tirupati on Sunday evening, he is understood to have got a pleasant assurance from the latter that the Centre might consider granting of special category status to AP, subject to certain conditions.

It is learnt the Prime Minister has agreed to concede the demand, but suggested that instead of a blanket permission for the entire state, the special status could be given to certain backward areas of the state, wherein special incentives would be given for the same.

In all probability, there would be special status to Rayalaseema zone which would comprise four districts of the region, besides Prakasam, Nellore and parts of Guntur.

“There is also a possibility that the status could be given to all backward areas of the state except two or three major cities and municipal corporations,” sources said.

It is learnt there might be some clarity on the special status at the Niti Aayog governing council meeting to be held in New Delhi on June 15.

Sources said Gandhi’s office does not have any knowledge of the circular.

Mahesh Babu Set to Beat Chiru’s Record

Share

Summer holidays and lack of competition from other biggies can make wonders to a big star hero’s film.
Despite getting low ratings from critics, Allu Arjun’s “Sarrainodu”, which released in April 2016, went on to become number one hit in his career.

Similarly, Mahesh Babu’s “Maharshi” received mixed talk and pretty average ratings but the film has now crossed Rs 101 Cr share. This is fifth Telugu film to achieve the feat.“Maharshi” in its fifth week’s run has crossed Rs 100 Cr mark worldwide, though Mahesh Babu’s fans have last week declared this feat.

The film is short of crossing Megastar Chiranjeevi’s “Khaidi No 150” lifetime collections. It needs another Rs 1 Cr share to beat Chiranjeevi’s record. The film has crossed Rs 30 Cr mark in Nizam and thereby became all-time third highest grossing movie in this region after “Baahubali” movies.

As things stand today, “Baahubali 2” and “Baahubali” are the top two highest grossers in Tollywood’s history.

The third place goes to “Rangasthalam” which collected Rs 120 Cr worldwide. “Maharshi” will become fourth biggest hit later this week.

Tamannaah: Everything Changes With a Friday

Share

Making her screen debut at the age of 15 and becoming a star in the south film industry before finding space in Hindi cinema which prepared Tamannaah Bhatia about the fickle nature of fame.

Born and raised in Mumbai, the actor made her debut with the 2005 Telugu film Sri, followed by her Tamil film Kedi. She achieved success two years later, with Happy Days and Kalloori.

“I grew up really fast. I was a sorted and mature individual at that age. I had a strong will to be an actor.

“I set out to become an actor, ended up being a heroine. I’ve realised stardom is beyond you, it isn’t something you can control. With the kind of extremely loyal fans I have from the south, I feel lucky,” she told PTI.

Being driven as a teenager, Tamannaah learned Tamil and Telugu.

She said, “I don’t know if I’ll be able to learn two new languages today but when I was 15, I was keen on learning Tamil and Telugu. I would refuse to take prompting on the sets and insisted I learn the language.”

Navigating an industry almost alien to her made Tamannaah realize the uncertainty of the business.

“It gives me a big reality check that our lives are very much Friday-to-Friday, everything changes with it. Some Fridays are good, some not. But the whole idea is to go to another Friday. To keep going.”

The actor continued to feature in hit films like Ayan, Paiyaa, Siruthai, 100% Love and the blockbuster franchise Baahubali but at the risk of being stereotyped as the bubbly girl-next-door.

“I have had meaty roles even in the so-called male-centric films, where a girl is supposed to come, run around the trees and go away. Some of my memorable films are those, where I had song and dance but also a very strong part to play.

“If you have a stronger part in a commercial film, it has a wider reach. Baahubali was a war film and to get so much space in a film like that was huge. That’s more important for me than doing so-called heroine-centric films,” she adds.

At her peak, the 29-year-old actor turned towards Bollywood with films like Himmatwala, Entertainment and Humshakals. All three bombed at the box office.

“Theoretically, they were the hugest films for that time. But they were not good films. They didn’t do well for legit reasons. Thereafter, I only tried to do films which were exciting to me. I didn’t try to do a Hindi film just because I wanted to do one.

“The actor says now her endeavour is to challenge herself with projects and characters she has not done before, such as her latest, Hindi thriller Khamoshi, in which she plays a deaf and mute girl.

“These roles are a natural progression of who I am. Earlier, I had a certain view of cinema to what I was exposed to. Now, I am exposed to cinema from all around the world and have been an actor for these many years. I feel there’s so much more to do.”

Directed by Chakri Toleti, Khamoshi also features Prabhu Dheva and is scheduled to be released on Friday.
