IAS Officer Transferred After A Tweet On Mahatma Gandhi

On June 1, IAS officer Nidhi Choudhari, who is a former Joint Municipal Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), posted a controversial tweet on Mahatma Gandhi which caused outrage among Maharashtrians and political circles. Her tweet also created a huge storm among Twitterattis and the tweet said that the face of Mahatma Gandhi should be ‘removed’ from currency notes. She then thanked Godse for 30.1.1948′, the day Gandhi was assassinated. (He was killed by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948). However, the tweet has now been deleted.

Today, Nidhi has been transferred from BMC to Maharashtra Mantralaya as the Deputy Secretary of Water Sanitary department post her controversial tweet about Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse. The reaction on the tweet was pretty intense from political groups and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar requested CM Devendra Fadnavis for immediate action against Nidhi. Also, a few other leaders of the NCP issued public statements against her as well.

NCP’s MLAs from Thane region had also demanded strong action against Nidhi Choudhary. But, Nidhi defends that her tweet was ‘misinterpreted’. She also replied to netizens that “Gandhiji inspires me daily” and that ‘My Experiments with truth’ by Gandhi is her favourite book.

Vizag Guy Drowns in a US Lake

In an unfortunate incident, a Vizag guy working and living in the US was reportedly drowned in a US lake. The guy identified as Avinash hails from Visakhapatnam and his father Venkatrao is working in Vizag Steel Plant. After completing his bachelors, Avinash had went to the US to do his Masters. Avinash had successfully completed his Masters and found a job in the US.

Avinash along with his friends had gone on a boat trip in the US. As per media reports, Avinash accidentally slipped from the boat and drowned in the lake.

Avinash’s friends have reported the incident and informed the sad news to his parents. Avinash’s parents are left in deep shock with the tragedy. Avinash’s father Venkat Rao is planning to go to the US and is expecting necessary help from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Even after scoring a big hit like “F2”, it’s surprising that young Punjabi beauty Mehreen Kaur Pirzada could find only films of Gopichand and Balayya in Tollywood. And who is to blame for that?

Reports are coming that Mehreen is upset with her manager that he failed to get her interesting projects in Telugu industry. Why Those Five Heroines Not Promoting The Film?

One of the upcoming films that caught the attention of movie lovers for the number of heroines it has and the lip kisses they have done with the lead guy is none other than ‘7’. Directed by cinematographer Nizar Shafi, the film has Havish as a hero and half a dozen heroines including Regina Cassandra, Tridha Choudhury, Anisha Ambrose, Nandita Swetha, Aditi Arya and Poojitha Ponnada.

Reportedly Telugu actress Poojitha Ponnada has so far promoted this film and more than the hero, her Rangasthalam cameo got good buzz for her. Then, former Miss India Aditi Arya, who sounds like the real lead girl of the movie, is absent from promotions. Except sharing the news on social media, even Regina, Tridha, Anisha and Nandita Swetha also didn’t join the promotions.

One wonders why talented heroines like Regina or glamour diva like Aditi are not promoting the movie. Some say that the producer finds it really expensive to bring all those girls to Hyderabad in business class flights and arrange their stay at five star hotels, and hence those ladies are absent. ‘Seven’ is hitting cinemas on June 6th.

MLC for Iqbal for Losing in Hands of Balayya!

Former Inspector General of Police Shaik Mohammad Iqbal who had contested as YCP’s candidate for Hindupur Assembly and lost in the hands of Balakrishna, got a gift from YS Jagan. Jagan has announced him of an MLC as promised to him earlier.

On Monday night, government has given an Iftar party to minorities in Guntur. CM Jagan Mohan Reddy had attended in person. During this Iftar party, Jagan announced an MLC to Iqbal. After retiring as IG, Iqbal has joined YSRCP. He was appointed as YCP convenor for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat.

As Iqbal hails from Kurnool, he had expected an MLA ticket from Kurnool. But owing to then conditions in Hindupur YCP, Jagan wanted Iqbal to contest from Hindupur. Apparently, Jagan had promised him with an MLC even if he lose against Balayya. As Iqbal had lost in the hands of Balayya, Jagan agreed to keep his promise and made the announcement at last night’s Iftar party.

Govt Steps Back; Hindi not mandatory

After a massive outcry over making the Hindi language compulsory in all non-Hindi speaking states in India, the government has now come up with a big change in its draft education policy. Earlier, it was mandatory for children to have a three-language plan in all southern states and now, in the new draft, National Education Policy 2019, the reference to Hindi has been removed in the controversial clause.

The students are now free to choose any language they wish to study in. The revised draft policy states – “In keeping with the principle of flexibility, students who wish to change one or more of the three languages they are studying may do so in Grade 6 or Grade 7, so long as they are able to still demonstrate proficiency in three languages.”

The three-language plan will no more have Hindi as compulsion and the revised policy requires proficiency in any three languages. From the past couple of days, Tamil Nadu showed outrage and protested over Hindi being made mandatory language. They said they will not tolerate Hindi imposition in the state that doesn’t speak the language.

Also, DMK in Tamil Nadu passed a resolution against the Centre’s policy and said that the NDA government should not test its patience. On the other hand, ex Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah too slammed at the Union government saying that imposing Hindi on other states is a “brutal assault”.

The poll drubbing of SP and BSP in UP is triggering a rift in Mahagathbandhan. In a fresh, Mayawati has made critical remarks against Akhilesh and SP’s poor performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls. Stating that Samajwada Party couldn’t even save ‘famil’y seats, Mayawati took a dig at Akhilesh for failing to make his wife Dimple Yadav win.

Dimple Yadav, a two-term MP and wife of Akhilesh, lost her Kannauj seat in Uttar Pradesh to the BJP. This is despite the fact that the constituency has about 3.5 lakh Yadav votes. Maya pointed that even Yadav community votes were not completely polled for SP. She alleged that Sivapal Yadav of Congress had split the Yadav community votes. Maya further alleged that the votes polled for Dimple are transferred only from BSP. “Our votes were transferred to Dimple but the Yadav votes didn’t,” Mayawati assessed at BSP’s internal meeting.

Citing these, Mayawati hinted that she could say ‘good bye’ to Mahagathbandhan (Opposition Front). She dubbed Mahagathbandhan as ‘Bekar’ (waste). Maya made these comments at her meeting with BSP leaders who recently won for Lok Sabha. Mayawati indicated that BSP would go alone in the upcoming by-elections to be held for the 11 Assembly constituencies.

If BSP doesn’t exit the alliance with SP, BSP has to help SP in the upcoming by-polls for 11 Assembly seats as well as the next Assembly elections in 2022. So, BSP is most likely to say ‘bid adieu’ to SP.

Meanwhile, Mayawati’s reported comments on SP have made its leaders angry and upset with BSP. With this, the Mayawati-Akhilesh gathbandhan (called as the bua-bhatija or aunt-nephew tie-up) is expected to hit the end.

Andhra Pradesh Assembly from June 12th

The second and new Andhra Pradesh Assembly will assemble on June 12th. Firstly, the pro-tem speaker will be elected and he/she will help the newly elected MLAs to take oath, followed by the Speaker election. CM Jagan might consider a senior MLA as the pro-tem speaker while the suspense on Speaker election continues.

The first assembly sessions of this new Assembly will last for about five days. This time the assembly will witness a switch of sides i.e, the previous ruling party will be on the opposition side while YSRCP will occupy the ruling side.

Before the Assembly session, the Andhra Pradesh cabinet will meet on June 10th and will decide their agenda for the sessions. However, this session will not have any serious discussion for obvious reasons.

Harish Rao declines Ministry?

Hyderabad: After the recent setback in the Lok Sabha polls in which TRS lost 7 seats to the Congress and BJP, TRS leader KCR realised the importance of Harish Rao and his foolishness in not giving him greater responsibilities during the polls.

Harish was made responsible for Medak alone and he ensured the TR candidate won comfortably.

Apparently, KCR has had a rethink on the matter of sidelining Harish Rao and grapevine has it that KCR oared Harish a Ministry in his cabinet.

But Harish Rao politely declined the offer for reasons best known to him.

Maybe, by declining the Ministry, Harish was reassuring KCR that he had no intention of emerging as a parallel power structure in future to KTR.
