Allu congratulates Sam on the success of Oh Baby

Share

Without a shadow of a doubt, Samantha Akkineni is one of the finest performers in Tollywood. From her on-screen presence to her killer dance moves to her ability to cry on the big screen, Samantha is one of the best in the industry.

But post her wedding, Samantha is on a streak of delivering back-to-back hits. With Rangasthalam, U-Turn, Super Deluxe, Majili and the most recent outing, Oh! Baby, has made her one of the most fabulous heroines in the industry.

With Oh! Baby being declared as yet another hit, congratulatory wishes from all over have been pouring in for Samantha. But one wish has left the actress smiling.

Sam’s S/O Satyamurthy co-star went on to congratulate her for the film with a bouquet of beautiful pink roses.

But not only did he send her roses, he also sent her a beautiful plant with a note that read as, “You deserve more than just a call & flowers something that grows as beautiful as you.”

US Box-Office: Fantastic Weekend for Oh Baby

Share

Samantha has finally proved her star power at US box-office as a solo heroine. Her latest release “Oh Baby” has crossed half-million-dollar mark in the first weekend, which is pretty huge for a female-centric movie.

Lot of factors have helped the film to reach this mark. However, its collections had seen a drop on Sunday.

Overall, it collected about $550k (approximate) in its opening weekend and thereby crossed the lifetime gross of her previous female-centric movie ‘U-Turn’ in just three days.

#OhBaby Premiere: $145k Fri: $152k Sat: $155k Sun: $100k (early estimate) Total Weekend Gross: $555k

On the other hand, films like “Brochevarevura” and “Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya” have not added substantial amounts to its total gross this weekend.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Bollywood film “Kabir Singh” has seen huge growth in the collections last weekend and the film has crossed $2 million mark. It is a blockbuster and hugely profitable venture for its distributor.

Kohli & boys feeling heat of ‘win the cup’ messages

Manchester: While crazy fans across the world make it a delight for Indian players to play across the globe, the constant pressure to excel from them can also get to the players and that is exactly what is happening in the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales. While India have been in terrific form and have been looking like favourites to lift the trophy, the constant messages have started to irk the players.

With the tournament shifting to the knockout stages, the pressure to excel in the middle gets all the more as it is now all about just two games and succeeding in them would mean laying hands on the coveted trophy. But India’s limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma has revealed that the constant messages and good wishes have started to affect the players and they need some time away from all the attention to stay focused on the job at hand.

“A lot of people are staying in the same hotel as us who want us to win the World Cup, who want us to score runs, score centuries. So you kind of want to stay away from all of that because eventually our job is to do that, our job is to come here, play good cricket and win the World Cup, we all know that.

“But constantly yapping in anyone’s ear is not right. So I think for us as cricketers, it’s important for us to just completely put that away and focus on the job at hand. It is very difficult. Trust me because you’re in that fraternity where you meet so many people. They will talk about how well you’re batting, how many runs you’re getting, how many hundreds you’ve scored. But to just keep away from all that is very important,” he explained.

When asked if that meant he kept away even from the phone, Rohit said: “Like, WhatsApp messages I will because of my family members and close friends, I do that. But not on the day of the game, the next day, when I’m traveling on the bus.”

Keeping the complaints of the Indian team management in mind over the intrusion of privacy, a senior ICC official said that arrangements have been made to ensure that only guests lodged in the team hotel are allowed entry into the premises.

“We made some changes to access to the hotel to limit the number of non guests coming in,” the official told IANS.

Earlier, another Indian player had also spoken of the fans failing to understand the need to give the cricketers their space as focus is an integral part of performing in big ticket events.

“While nobody is questioning their intention, but we are also human and need our space. There are times when you are not in the mood to get clicked and that is when the fans get hurt and start being judgmental. They feel we have attitude issues, but that is really not the case,” he had told IANS.

But with the ICC looking to keep fans as far away as possible from the players, the heat should be less in the final two games on the road to World Cup glory.

When I was in hungry, I got Ram: Puri

Share

Director Puri Jaganadh accepted that he did not score a hit after ‘Temper.’ Speaking at the ‘iSmart Bonalu’ event Puri said “when I was hungry to score a hit, I picked Ram. He is not Ram Pothineni, he is Ram Chirutha Puli. I did not change anything in him but just used his energy. Cinema is his world. Shooting and his home are the only two places you will find him. He doesn’t meet friends and go to parties such is his passion,” said Puri.

Hero Ram said working with Puri gives a kick for him. “At point of time, I got to know that people are expecting many things from me. That moment I met director Puri and that’s how ‘iSmart Shankar’ worked out,” said Ram.

Ram also thanked producer Charmme for being there on the set and taking care of everything. “If she is there, we can be relaxed and focus only on shooting,” said Ram and also wished good luck to Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh.

‘iSmart Shankar’ is hitting the screens on July 18th.

Baby Samantha! Why This Wrong Timing?

Share

Samantha is terrific in ‘Oh Baby’ that she has redefined her image from a glamorous girl to that superior actress with lovely comedy timing. There is nothing much to say negative about her latest movie, except the fact that she made one wrong move.

After Maharshi released on May 9th, there is no other Summer bonanza that took Tollywood by a storm. And every week, films are coming and going, but none made their mark. And if Samantha could have released this Oh Baby just two weeks after Maharshi, then there would have been huge footfalls.

Now, at a time when schools and colleges are reopened and rains hampering everyday life, even if Oh Baby got this stupendous superhit talk, the collections will be a little low. We wonder how come even the ‘lekkalu mastaru’ Suresh Babu has missed out that logic. An advanced release would have done more wonders.

Vijay Devarakonda Breaks Down At Dorasani Event

Share

It is never expected from Vijay Devarakonda, as for the kind of actor and orator he is, he has broken into tears. Yes, you read it right, he broke into tears at Dorasani pre-release event, talking about his brother Anand who is debuting as a hero.

“When my brother Anand came to India leaving his plum job in the USA where he used to work in Deloitte, I didn’t like it. And after coming here, he expressed a desire to work in films and I asked him to do that on his own. I want him to experience how to select the script, carve the film and take it to theatres, as being an actor and becoming an actor is not such an easy job” says Vijay Devarakonda at the pre-release event.

Later he added, “I’m here where I’m today because of my brother only. He used to send money back home from the USA to support the family and only because of that support, today I’m standing here”, breaking into tears. Further with his eyes filled with water, he stressed, “When everyone is asking me about my brother’s film, I said, I don’t know anything about it. I felt bad for not coming to his pooja and felt bad when I’m not able to share anything about the film on Twitter. I didn’t do because I wanted them to get trolled and experience it”.

About Dorasani he added, “I’ve watched the film already and its pretty good job. Director KVR Mahendra rocked it, while Sivathmika and Anand added a beauty to it”. He praised the cinematographer and music director too.

What’s The Problem With These Heroes!

Share

With ‘Burra Katha’ going for a toss, Saikumar’s son Aadhi Pudipeddi has tasted another dud in his career at a time when nothing is working for him. From Varun Sandesh to Sumanth Raju, many young heroes failed big time at the box office after getting a nice start. Wonder why?

Apparently, many of these heroes are picking films that are either having tried and tested stories, or they will have larger than life package. When a star hero picks up such movies, his image will save them even if the film is not so good. But if young and upcoming heroes like these folks pick such stories, it simply won’t work.

On top of everything, newly coming up directors chalk a JamesBond like a story, but the budget is of short film and it is simply tough to execute. If the heroes get more budget involved, then the film will be cost failure and if they go with less budget the output looks like a cartoon.

Rather than these types of films, what if these heroes pick concept oriented comedy movies like a Vicky Donor or Article 15 and deliver the needful? That may work.
