Manchu Vishnu silently begins four projects
After a gap, hero Manchu Vishnu is coming up with multiple projects simultaneously. About four projects are launched on Sunday and Vishnu’s father Mohan Babu and Manchu family have graced the launch event.
For the first project, Vishnu will pair with Kajal Aggarwal and it is based on a big scam that happened in the IT industry which shook the nation and world. Vishnu is also debuting in Hollywood and this international film will be directed by Jeffery Chin and Hollywood technicians will be part of it.
Vishnu then will bankroll a feature film and a web-series. The film is going to be a new age thriller which is going to be directed by newcomer Subba Raju. The film is titled ‘Mira Road’ and about the web-series, it will star actor Srikanth.
This web-series will be directed by Raj and is touted to be a political drama.
So Manchu Vishnu has lined up interesting projects.
Samantha Hurt With Sandeep Reddy’s Comments
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s comments have become a hot topic in film industry cutting across languages. However, our own Telugu Kodalu Samantha has found fault with Sandeep’s comments and she also stated that she is hurt with his remarks.
Going into details, Sandeep has defended the scenes in his film Kabir Singh (Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy) which see the protagonist beating his love interest. He said, “When you are deeply in love, deeply connected with a woman and vice versa, there’s a lot of honesty in it. And if you don’t have that physical demonstration of…if you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there.”
With this, many feminists and women associations have condemned Sandeep’s comments questioning how violence against women and harassment can be disguised as love.
Now joining the bandwagon is Samantha Akkineni. Samantha responded on Sandeep’s comments. She said, “Those comments are really disappointing.” Interestingly, an English daily has found fault with Samantha’s comments and “double-standards” as she had liked Arjun Reddy. Responding to the criticism, she clarified,”Liking a film is different. Differing from the comments and opinion of another is different. I liked Arjun Reddy as a story. That doesn’t mean I also like the concept of hitting your partner and love.”
With a top actress like Samantha differing with Sandeep, the whole issue has got a new turn. It can be noted that Samantha had earlier commented on the poster of Mahesh Babu’s One – Nenokkadine as “regressive” when a woman (Kriti Sanon) walks on knees behind Mahesh Babu in the movie poster. That had also became highly debatable.
Balayya in Pink Remake?
If speculations are anything to go by, Nandamuri Balakrishna is being considered for the Telugu remake of Bollywood hit Pink. Amitabh’s role in Pink was one of the critically acclaimed and most appreciated role. The film was liked by both critics and audiences. While the Tamil remake features Shraddha Srinath, of Jersey fame, producer Dil Raju is evincing interest to do the Telugu remake.
While the actress for the Telugu remake is yet to be finalized, Dil Raju who had never worked with Balayya is wanting to rope in him for Amitabh’s role. Since Balayya’s dialogues on women in films like Simha were highly popular, Dil Raju is reportedly wanting to cast Balayya. However, Raju is yet to approach Balayya.
If Balayya is not available, Raju may look out for other options like Nagarjuna, Venkatesh.
‘Oh Baby’ Brings Back Two Forgotten Ladies
‘Oh Baby’ is running to packed crowds in Telugu theatres right now as everyone got mesmerised with the story itself and then with Samantha’s mesmerising performance. And the film also brought back two forgotten ladies to Telugu films again.
Firstly, the film has seen veteran actress Lakshmi garu playing the role of Bamma in the movie. Probably after ‘Murari’, this is the film that Lakshmi entertained us in a big way as the first 30 minutes of the film purely belong to her. For that terrific screen presence to lovely Godavari accent dialogues, she’s a charmer.
And then, YouTuber Sunayana who has played the role of Rajendra Prasad’s daughter is simply striking. While the new generation might know of her for youtube videos, but Sunayana is the one who played the of ‘Amooru Talli’ in the movie Ammoru that released in 1995.
While everyone played their part well in Oh Baby, these two are surely a revelation.
Teja Ditches The Idea Of Working With Kajal
More than the failure of Sita at the box office, the news of director Teja teaming up with her again became a sensation. And then, the film arrived of Amazon Prime, giving more clarity to the director on what he should do.
Apparently after watching the movie on Prime, many found fault with Teja as to how he has roped in Kajal for the role, as she can’t even act properly in many scenes. They opined that Kajal has that star heroine image, but it hasn’t helped the film because never in life she got a film where she will be running the total show on her shoulders. That’s why she didn’t realise how to handle Sita.
Listening to all this criticism, it looks like Teja has taken a final call. He now says, “I’m working on a multi-starrer script at the moment and thought nothing about the casting. Once I finish the script, I will talk about the actors”. That means, Kajal’s film is kept in the rack, isn’t it?
Puri’s Focus is Actors’ Comfort: Ram
Ram Pothineni is quite open in admitting that the project of “iSmart Shankar” happened by chance, not by choice.
“This, in fact, is media made project. Even before Puri garu and I met, websites had confirmed that we’re going to work together. Media locked the project, then only we met and have agreed upon this project,” Ram said.
Ram also said he was actually waiting for directors to come up with a character like ‘iSmart Shankar’.
“I wanted to give a break to good boy image. I was waiting to play characters with negative shades. Puri garu has written this interesting character which is totally different from what I have played so far. I may not be hero in this film,” he said further.
Ram has two leading ladies in the film – Nidhii Agerwal and Nabha Natesh. While Nabha Natesh is playing typical Telangana girl, Nidhii is scientist in the film.
How did they grab this opportunity?
“I shot a video of myself with the look of Hyderabadi girl. Puri has liked my body language and accent. We actresses often don’t get to play such interesting roles. I am happy that I got this opportunity.” Nabha revealed.
Nidhi said she played a serious role with high emotional content. Scientist’s role is very challenging one, she added.
Interestingly, Ram revealed that his look was not designed by Puri Jagannadh.
“Basically I wanted to try something whacky. I got this hairstyle at a salon in Hyderabad and left for a holiday resort. At airport, somebody snapped my pics and uploaded on social media. Puri liked it and asked me to retain. So, the hairstyle was not done for this film. But the biggest transformation that Puri has done is my acting style. The characterization of iSmart Shankar is totally different. So is my performance,” Ram praised Puri.
Explaining Puri Jagannadh’s working style, Ram joked that Puri’s more focus is making actors feel comfortable on the sets.
“He doesn’t want actors get stressed. He wants them comfortable. He tries to avoid putting actors in strenuous situations where as my guru YVS Chowdhary want what they want,” he explained.
Naidu should vacate house or face action: YSRCP MLA
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Sunday demanded that former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should vacate the house in which he is staying here.
YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said that Naidu should own the moral responsibility of staying in an illegal house and vacate it instead of making irrational arguments.
The MLA from Mangalagiri said that if the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President failed to vacate the house, he will complain to the competent authority to take immediate action.
The owner of the house in which Naidu is staying was last month issued a notice for violation of various laws.
“As the land on which the house was built by Lingamaneni Ramesh clearly flouted the rules of various departments, the TDP President should immediately vacate the house and stop his doublespeak on the status of the house,” said the YSRCP leader who has been leading a campaign for demolition of all illegal buildings on the banks of Krishna river.
The MLA alleged that Naidu kept on changing his stand about the status of the house.
He said that there is no clarity from either the developer or the person who is staying in the house about its status and the air will be cleared by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) soon.
Reddy reacalled that Naidu had said in the Assembly on March 6, 2016 that the house belonged to the government. Hence, he is bound to vacate it on that ground, the MLA said.
“I will ask the authorities to verify the facts fully on the ownership and transfer of the property which is part of the land pooling (for developing the state capital) and take action accordingly,” he said.
Modugula to be AP representative in Delhi!
YSR Congress party leader and former MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy is most likely to be appointed as the special representative of the Andhra Pradesh in New Delhi shortly.
Modugula, who lost the recent Lok Sabha elections from Guntur in the hands of Telugu Desam Party candidate Galla Jayadev with a slender margin, will be given the cabinet rank with all the necessary perks.
He will take up the state government’s pending issues with the Centre from time to time.
In fact, YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy first appointed his party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy as the Andhra Pradesh government’s special representative in New Delhi on June 22 with all facilities.
However, a couple of days ago, the Jagan government cancelled the appointment of Sai Reddy as there were objections from the Centre to it.
Reason: the state government’s special representative in Delhi is an office of profit since it holds the cabinet rank with all perks.
As per the rules, Sai Reddy cannot be given any official posting of profit, as he is holding the position of an MP. Moreover, he is also the parliamentary party leader of YSRC.
If he was to be continued in the post of special representative of the government with cabinet rank, he will be liable for disqualification from Rajya Sabha. So, he was compelled to give up the official post.
As a result, Jagan has reportedly chosen Modugula, who also has a lot of clout in Delhi as he had been MP in the past. He had been in the TDP for a quite long time, before defecting to the YSRC in February this year.
But he is a known fighter for the rights of the state and was a strong opponent of the bifurcation of combined state.
He was even beaten black and blue by the Congress MPs during the passage of bifurcation bill in Lok Sabha.
Though he was elected as an MLA from Guntur (West) in 2014, by defeating Kanna Lakshminarayana, TDP president and then chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu did not acknowledge his services and give him any cabinet post.
Realising that he had no future in the TDP, he defected to the YSRC, but lost the Lok Sabha elections by a whisker.
