Former CM Chandrababu Naidu has moved High Court seeking an increase of security to him and his family. Naidu has sought the High Court to direct the state government to increase his security in addition to the NSG (National Security Guard) commandos given by the Centre. Naidu claimed that his life is under risk and he is in the hit list of Maoists.

Recalling how Maoists had attacked him on October 1st, 2003 at Alipiri, Chandrababu pointed out that he and his son Lokesh’s life is under severe threat after an encounter that took place in October 2016 in Andhra-Odisha border. Naidu also cited the report of an English daily newspaper which reported that there is a Maoist threat to him and his son’s life. Chandrababu also recalled the brutal killing of then Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and ex MLA Siveri Soma in September 2018.

Naidu said AP state government has reduced his security from 25th June without any prior notice or information. He said only two plus two security is being provided by the state government. Naidu noted that his government had provided 7 plus 7 security to then opposition leader YS Jagan during 2014 to 2019.

Chandrababu, who is the leader of Opposition, in his petition, appealed that he has threat from Maoists, Red Sandal smugglers and mafia and also from his political opponents pertaining to the decisions he had taken when he was in power. He said he had taken serious measures against red sandal smuggling during his tenure as the CM. Naidu, who served as the CM of united AP for nine years, has also served as the CM of bifurcated AP from 2014 to 2019. He had also served as Opposition Leader in united Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2014. Citing his previous experiences and the threat from Maoists, Smugglers, Chandrababu appealed to the court to direct the state government to retain the previous security to him and his family.
