NTR’s biographical drama ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ by controversial director Ram Gopal Varma had to face many hurdles for the release of the film. The Election Commission and Central Board of Film Certification had many political pressures and the release in Andhra Pradesh was stalled by a court order.

The latest update by RGV on his Twitter is that the film has finally got a release date after 40 days of delay. He announced the news with a caption, “Finally, ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ is now releasing on MAY 1st in ANDHRA PRADESH. Come watch the conspiracies that happened behind NTR’s back”.

The film’s full run is over already everywhere else and the audience’ interest in watching this controversial film appears to be different from that they had before elections. Many were seen calling it a stale content and the openings are not expected to be grand like it enjoyed during the release in Telangana and other states.

Criminal complaint filed Against Gautam Gambhir by AAP

Atishi Marlena, who is the Aam Aadmi Party’s East Delhi candidate statedrn that she had filed a criminal complaint against her Bharatiya Janata rnParty opponent and ex-cricketer Gautam Gambhir, claiming that he is registered as a voter in two constituencies. She called it as an offence and demanded his disqualification as an election candidate.

The case was filed at the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Delhi. Also, a police investigation against Gambhir was demanded, showing documents that Gambhir was a voter from both Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar Assembly constituencies of Delhi.

Ms. Marlena claimed that Gambhir had hidden the fact while filing his nomination and predicted that he is scared of getting disqualified from contesting elections. A per her allegations, Gambhir had committed offences under Sections 17 and 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. Of course, the registration of a voter from more than one constituency is a crime and also, it leads to the imprisonment of up to a year, or a penalty, for making false declarations in the electoral roll.

Moreover, he violated Section 125A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, by concealing information. On the other hand, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari told -‘There is no truth in her allegations. Also, it will not threaten Gambhir’s candidature in any way. AAP is playing negative politics.’

15 Killed In Raids at ISIS Hideout In Sri Lanka

On the east coast of Sri Lanka, 15 dead bodies were discovered at the site of a fierce overnight gun battle and among those 15, six bodies were of children. The news has been confirmed by a military spokesman. This incident has once again shocked everyone as it happened just six days after suicide bombers claimed more than 300 people lives.

In detail, the shootout between troops and suspected Islamist militants took place on Friday evening at one of the Easter Sunday blasts places. The spokesman also confirmed that three suspected suicide bombers were among the 15 dead after the shoot out. Military spokesman Sumith Atapattu said in a statement that as troops headed towards the safe house three explosions were triggered and gunfire began. “Troops retaliated and raided the safe house where a large cache of explosives had been stored,” he said in a statement.

These militants were suspected members of the domestic Islamist group National Towheed Jama’at (NTJ), which has been blamed for the Easter bomb blasts. The cops have also found bomb-making materials, gelignite sticks and thousands of metal balls during the pursuit of a separate house in the same area. Also, eight of the suicide bombers were identified and one among them was a woman. Officials confirmed all of them are well-educated.

The cops are now mainly focused on tracking down those 140 people who allegedly said to have connections with Islamic State and claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings. Police have detained at least 76 people, including foreigners from Syria and Egypt, in their investigations so far and 20 were arrested in the past 24 hours alone.

Reminding the Election Commission of its duties and in over-stepping the line, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu shot off a letter to the Election Commission arguing that it does not have any jurisdiction to stop him from holding departmental reviews. In the letter, he also reminded the EC of its ‘unilateral decisions’ over transfer of DG Intelligence, Chief Secretary and Superintendents of Police of various districts of the state.

He also added that he is restricted due to the inconvenience and embarrassment faced by IAS officers in attending his reviews duo to the EC’s unnecessary instructions. He also blamed the EC for not letting the government take pre-emptive measures in saving lives lost due to recent thunderstorms and rains that have claimed lives. ‘Had the EC allowed us to conduct meetings, our thunderbolt predicting technology would have helped us save lives,’ he added. He added that the EC is responsible for the loss of 7 lives during the recent rains.

‘The Chief Electoral Officer is exceeding his jurisdiction. He has also instructed the Additional DG (Intelligence) who works directly under the Chief Minister, not to report to the CM. I would like to know from the EC, whether reporting authority can be changed? If so, does the reporting authority for National Security Advisor also changed or will they be reporting to the Prime Minister?,’ Chandrababu questioned in the letter, over how EC is forcibly letting officers breach official protocol.

Chandrababu said that EC is ‘intentionally paralysing the state administration,’ adding that government reviews do not violate the Model Code of Conduct. In the letter, Chandrababu said that the government of Andhra Pradesh ‘have the right to recover amounts for delays and cost overrun in projects from ECI by initiating legal action.’

The honour killing of Pranay was one of the gruesome incidents ever witnessed in the Telugu states. Amrutha’s father Maruthi Rao was the prime accused in this case. The police have imposed PD Act on Maruthi Rao and the other accused, so the High Court has granted bail with conditions. They should inform the police about the whereabouts constantly and if they are going out the state, Maruthi Rao should definitely show a proper reason and also inform where he is going and staying.

EC Hints at Delay In AP Poll Results

Ever since the day of polling in Andhra Pradesh was marred with EVM malfunctioning and clashes, it created bad blood between the people and the Election Commission. The ruling Telugu Desam Party added fuel to fire and took the battle with EC even further. Now, with the tussle between TDP and EC getting murkier, the Chief Electoral Officer has issued a statement on delay in poll results.

According to Gopala Krishna Dwivedi, AP Chief Electoral Officer, the results of AP Assembly and General elections will be delayed because of VVPAT slips counting. Once the counting of votes in EVMs is completed, it may take an additional 7 to 8 hours to count the VVPAT slips, he informed mediapersons. This news has not gone down well with political parties and people in the state.

Not only are they questioning the delay in results but also the integrity of the Election Commission which can start the counting few hours before and announce the results along with the rest of the country. However, the Election Commission seems to have different set of rules for Andhra Pradesh, claim political parties, who allege that EC has been doing everything possible to manipulate the outcome.

Raid my house, if I’m wrong: PM Modi

Stating that the law is equal for all, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that if he is found guilty of any wrongdoing, his house should be raided too. Speaking at an election campaign meeting in Madhya Pradesh following the raids at close aides residence of MP Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Modi said “Law is equal for all. Raids my house and search it, if I have done wrong.”

Referring to the recent raids in Madhya Pradesh by Income Tax sleuths, he said: “They (the Congressmen) were complaining that they were targeted by the agencies. They were targeted because they indulged in wrongdoing.” The raids also recovered a trail of cash being distributed for poll campaigning by the Congress, alleged BJP workers. “Ek toh chori upar se seenajori (They indulge in theft and then raise their voice too despite being guilty),” he said.

The BJP government has been accused by non-BJP allies and states that it has been raiding their residences and businesses in the name of wrongdoing. This, according to the Opposition, is an act of political vendetta by the Modi-Shah duo, they say. However, Modi accused the Congress and its allies of the way they function with such ill-gotten wealth. “This stolen money is being sent to Tughluq road (referring to the Gandhi family),” he said, adding that it was being used for Congress’ electioneering.

During his speech, Modi was again found violating the Model Code of Conduct by bringing the Balakot airstrikes and the BJP government’s tough stand on terrorist attacks in India.
