Why is Harish Rao silent on Special Status or Polavaram?

Share

The YSR Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi alliance has become quite the talk in political circles of both the states. Ever since YSRCP President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and TRS Working President KT Rama Rao’s joint press address, the rumour mills have been working overtime. While KTR and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao have openly endorsed Jagan’s candidature as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, one person who has not had any share of his say in the whole episode is KCR’s nephew and senior leader Harish Rao.

Known for enjoying huge popularity among voters, Harish Rao has been sidelined by the TRS party after the Telangana Assembly elections. He has also not been given any ministry in KCR’s cabinet while there have been messages that he would be included during Cabinet expansion post Lok Sabha polls. However, Harish Rao’s supporters have not been quiet about him being sidelined by KCR. They have time and again expressed their displeasure over TRS leadership’s ignorance of Harish Rao.

Amidst the din and noise of AP elections, Harish Rao was also one of the few people from TRS who was opposed to Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. Even with respect to Polavaram, he had made statements against the Andhra Pradesh government and its people publicly. Now, with so much happening in Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and KCR suddenly supporting special status for AP, Harish Rao still hasn’t spoken a word on the neighbouring state or TDP Chief.

Many in the political circles are questioning as to why he has fallen silent at a time when TRS is going full throttle against the TDP in Telangana. This also raises several questions about how KCR has been unjust to Harish Rao and has been trying to elevate his son and daughter, as rumours confirm. Will this be another cause of concern for the TRS? Will Harish Rao’s silence cost the party even as it continues to ignore his presence? We will know the answer after May 23rd.

Conspiracy! Bus tickets from Telangana to AP cancelled?

Share

With just two days for the polling, several passengers who will be travelling to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana and Hyderabad have been receiving messages of their bus cancellation from private travel services. Their messages from the bus operators state that thee bus has been cancelled due to “unavoidable reasons.”

As we had reported earlier, there were rumours that many government and private bus services to be canceled or cancel booked tickets in the last moment. We had informed people through our report that they should look at alternatives modes of travel as the Telangana government is planning to stop nearly 50 lakh people who will be home-bound tomorrow, to vote in Andhra Pradesh.

The argument put forward by the government on the issue was that “it cannot send their people (RTC drivers) to distant places as they would not be able to cast their vote on April 11, if they leave their native places.” Those who have received messages have taken to social media to spread awareness to people on choosing car pooling or car apps to travel to their native instead of panicking. Political observers say 50 lakh is a significant population that could change the fate of a party’s chances in the election.

Many voters who are heading home are spreading messages on Twitter about ticket cancellations and are reaching out to others who need help in reaching their destination in Andhra Pradesh. Many netizens are also cautioning people to travel today, so that they can avoid last moment rush and panic. Looks like all efforts are being made to ensure that voting percentage goes down in AP elections.

Buzz: Baaboi, Evvaru Taggatledu Baabai

Share

With just three more days to go for the wrapping of the election campaign in Andhra Pradesh, not even a single leader is giving loose of the steering wheel that is driving their publicity blitzkrieg. All sorts of emotions are being seen at these venues and here is a taste of few.

Pawan Kalyan and the flow of emotions!
Janasena president Pawan Kalyan makes sure that he will be as eccentric as possible for the next couple of days. Already his dehydration incident raised sympathy wave for him and then spoke how comedian Ali has backstabbed him despite securing a Janasena MLA ticket for one of his cousins. And then Pawan went haywire when few people tried to turn off lights at his roadshow in Vizag district other day.

‘Scam explorer’ Sivaji
Known for revealing various fictional political conspiracy theories, which according to him are mighty plans devised to destruct Telugu Desam Party, Sivaji other day stated in an explosive tone that Jagan will crush Amaravathi if he wins. Also Sivaji added, “If I am greedy of posts, by this time I would have become MLA or MP in BJP and a Minister too. I would have become AP BJP president also”. Sample that.

The Showman KA Paul
This enigmatic Christian evangelist is literally becoming that funnybone of the total Andhra Pradesh electoral campaign as he is throwing not just satires on all the opponents, but he terms that everyone including Chandrababu Naidu are also planning to vote for his Praja Santhi party only. Check youtube once, to find more of Paul’s comedy!!

Officially Unofficial Spokesperson Posani
Time and again, he invites media to his house and makes sure that his voice is heard. Wavering between his loyalty for YS Jagan and his love to support the mega family as well, he sometimes finds fault with his own stories that were said previous day. He wants to give a milk bath to Pawan if the Jansenani proves that Jagan is corrupt. Well, should Pawan now join in CBI, Judiciary and all other central agencies to do that?

And this list is endless if we add the names of Lakshmi Parvathi and many others. But then, as Chandrababu and YS Jagan are not new to this rhetoric, satirical, aggressive, intelligent and funny political campaigns, their names are excluded here.

To sum up, looking at all these politically apolitical and typically political politicians, we have to say, ‘Baaboi, evvaru taggatledu baabai’.

Will KCR’s Last Minute Comments Helps Jagan?

Share

Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao said his party would support Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh, along with his demands to offer equal share of incentive to Telangana. KCR, for the first time, publicly announced his support to Special Status obviously to strengthen the party’s ally, YSR Congress’ poll prospects in AP, in the wake of TDP supremo and his bete noire time and again criticising YSRCP chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for tying up with TRS, even when there has been no assurance from KCR on the issue.

Addressing an election meeting in Vikarabad near Hyderabad, KCR predicted that the TDP would lose the April 11 elections. He reminded that MPs of TRS Party had already registered their support to SCS in the Parliament. In the same tempo, KCR refuted allegations being levelled by Chandrababu that he was trying to stall the Polavaram project which is the lifeline of AP.

However, many are questioning why TRS leaders such as Harish Rao and other MPs had outrightly rejected Special Status to AP earlier. They also question the TRS’ stand in not supporting MPs from Andhra Pradesh in the Parliament when they tabled a no-confidence motion against the Modi government for not granting Special Status to AP.

Changing his tone against “Andhra people” after calling them “Andhra Drohulu” during the Telangana Assembly elections, KCR reiterated that people of AP were good but it was only leaders like Chandrababu Naidu who were irritating him. “Naidu is cursing Hyderabad that it would lose its significance. Naidu will lose his deposit in the polls,” the TRS chief said. He also predicted that TRS will win 16 MP seats, AIMIM one and along with the YSRC, they would win 35 MP seats.

KCR’s comments come in the wake of the people of Andhra Pradesh seeing him in negative light, despite being an ally of YSR Congress. His comments on people from Seemandhra and those who migrated to Hyderabad have been very controversial as he indulged in name-calling and abusing them.

Political observers say that this is an attempt by the TRS to undo the damage it has done and to help Jagan in AP. However, we are yet to see whether the people of AP will forget the wounds of the past inflicted by KCR upon them or will this turn out to be a last moment advantage for Jagan in Andhra Pradesh.

Mahesh Babu is working relentlessly on Maharshi from a long time and the last break he has taken from the film is during the new year eve. And now, the actor is said to be looking forward to taking one more break before he starts promoting the film.

And then, Mahesh Babu along with heroine Pooja Hegde is likely to fly to Abu Dabhi for a song shoot, where they are also going to shoot some patchwork scenes too.

You are my junior, Ali tells Pawan!

Telugu film comedian Ali is generally a very soft spoken person and he gives due respect to all his colleagues in the Telugu film industry.

But when it comes to politics, he has proved that he is no soft a person and if necessary, he can take on anybody, irrespective of his stature and political power.

It was evident from the way Ali gave a strong retort to power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, who everybody considers is a god father to the comedian in the film industry.

Reacting strongly to Pawan Kalyan’s comments that he had helped Ali a lot when he was in trouble and that he had betrayed his friendship by joining YSR Congress party, the comedian wondered how Jana Sena Party chief had helped him.

“Did you give help me monetarily? Or did you get recommend my name to any producers when I was going through a low phase in films?” Ali asked.

Ali reminded that he was far senior to Pawan Kalyan in film industry.

“By the time Pawan entered industry, I was already an established actor. He might have come into industry using his brother Chiranjeevi’s name, but I gained a footing out of my own efforts,” he asserted.

He said by the grace of god, he had gained enough name and money in the films.

“If at all I face any financial crisis in my life, I will never go to anybody, including Pawan, for help. If such a situation arises, I will rather die with hunger,” he said.

The ace comedian sought to know whether joining YSRC was a mistake.

“It is my choice. I never aspired for any ticket from Jana Sena nor did I recommend any name for Jana Sena ticket,” Ali said.

Rajinikanth to play policeman after 25 years

Share

Superstar Rajinikanths next Tamil film, titled “Darbar”, will mark his return to playing a police officer after 25 years. Its title and first look was unveiled on Tuesday.

Rajinikanth was last seen playing a police officer on-screen in the 1992 Tamil film “Pandian”. His other police officer role includes Alex Pandian from “Moondru Mugam”, which released in 1982.

Murugadoss took to Twitter to unveil the film’s title and first look poster.

“Here you go guys. The first look of our very own Thalaivar in Darbar,” he wrote, confirming that the film will hit the screens during Pongal festival next year.

The poster features the headshot of a happy Rajinikanth. It also features a caption – ‘You decide whether you want me good, bad or worse.’

On Monday, it was officially announced that Nayanthara has been roped in to play the leading lady in the film.

After working with Rajinikanth in “Chandramukhi” and also briefly in “Kuselan”, this is the third time Nayanthara has teamed up with the 68-year-old star.

Popular lensman Santosh Sivan will crank the camera while Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music. Sreekar Prasad will take care of editing.

Election Special: Who will win 2019?

Share

With an upswing of about 4 per cent in vote share, as reported in recent polls/surveys, can the Congress tide over its lowest ebb (44 MPs in the 16th Lok Sabha) and dethrone the incumbent? Perhaps a deep dive into two latest surveys — CSDS-Lokniti and Times Now-VMR — will serve the purpose.

The first votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be polled on April 11. Both the principal parties — the BJP and the Congress — are entering into the general elections with a likely 4 percentage point increase in their vote shares. However, as per CSDS-Lokniti pre poll survey, this increase in the BJP’s vote share appears to be largely at the cost of the non-United Progressive Alliance (UPA) parties. Thereby, this increase vote share is unlikely to fetch more seats for the BJP.

Does that mean the GOP, like they usurped the reins in 2004 general elections from the popular Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government, will form the union government with its alliance partners in 2019? According to Sanjay Kumar, director CSDS, 2004 and 2019 general elections cannot be compared as the voter base for the Congress party between the two elections are remarkably different.

“2004 and 2019 not comparable. The support base are different. Before 2004 Elections Cong had 28.5% votes, before 2019 Cong has 19.6% votes,” Kumar tweeted.

The Congress party sure has its task cut out. In the BJP won 207 parliamentary constituencies with a margin well over one lakh votes (see box 1). The Congress was routed. The party endured a 9.03 per cent negative swing, lost 162 MPs – from 206 MPs in the 15th Lok Sabha to just 44 MPs in the 16th Lok Sabha – and its vote share was reduced to a measly 19.6 per cent.

Will a 4 percentage point increase in vote share suffice then? According to Kumar even if the party pulls off about 7 per cent increase in its vote share the Congress is unlikely to win over 100 seats in the 2019 general elections.

There is no “Modi wave” — is perhaps the only silver lining for the opposition parties. Most surveys predict advantage BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, but add a rider that the alliance could just fall short of a majority.

Though Times Now – VMR latest survey points at a close contest between the NDA and the UPA, predicts Congress-led UPA will finish a distant second.

According to the survey NDA will get 2.6 per cent more votes than in 2014 but the alliance will lose 57 seats and will be reduced to slender majority with 279 MPs in the 17th Lok Sabha. The UPA with 30.7 per cent vote share, as per the poll, is likely to add 89 MPs to its 2014’s tally and take 149 seats (see Box 2).

The results for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be declared on May 23, the jury is out till then!

Tollywood Stars End Their Campaigning

Share

Campaigning has come to an end in Telugu states. The parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and assembly elections in Andhra will be held on April 11 and curtains fell on campaigning this evening.

On the last day, Allu Arjun went all the way to Palakollu and Narsapuram to participate in roadshow supporting Jana Sena.

He campaigned for Pawan Kalyan and as well as for Naga Babu who is contesting from Narsapuram Lok Sabha.

Other Tollywood stars like comedian Ali, veteran actor Mohan Babu, Jayasudha, Jeevitha, Rajasehkar and Prudhvi did their canvassing for YS Jagan’s party.

Posani, anchor Shyamala and others also lent their support to YSRC party during these canvassing period.

For TDP, Surekha Vani did her bit on the last day. Besides the usual suspects like Balakrishna, Venu Madhav and Divya Vani, no major stars from Tollywood did campaigning for Telugu Desam party. Nara Rohith did his part though.

In Telangana, only hero Venu was the sole star who did campaign for TRS.

Mega Fans Straight Questions To Ali

Share

Of course, there are all the reasons on earth for comedian Ali to get upset after Pawan Kalyan has openly commented at Rajahmundry that the comedian has ditched him big time. But in his emotional retort, Ali is said to have irked Mega fans big time, and here is their response.

“You came here because of the path laid by Chiranjeevi, but I’ve come on my own,” said Ali in his video, irking mega fans, who are now asking back, “Many kin and kith follow a big star, but that doesn’t mean they will all succeed. We have Nagababu as well as Khayyum to cite as examples”. Even observers feel that PK has grown to become that star who could pull 50+ crores collection even with a flop film, and to say that he came because of Chiru is a two-faced comment.

Ali shot back at Pawan, “Did I asked you to give a ticket for my relative?”. But when Ali’s brother Khayyum asked a favor, isn’t it that Ali himself has asked for that? Okay, let’s believe that, but why did Ali never spoke about his relative getting a Janasena ticket in the first place?

When the film industry is pressurized by many activists that an action should be taken on comedian Ali for his comments on Samantha’s waist and Anushka’s thighs, it is his relation with Pawan Kalyan that has slowed down the bigwigs. Isn’t that help done by Pawan Kalyan?

And one more straight question to Ali, who had all the rights in this great democracy to join that party he likes to, “What are those good things and great plans YS Jagan has than Pawan Kalyan, whom you know for years as a friend?”.

Seems like mega fans are fully hurt with Ali’s satirically emotional retort, but we have to see how far people will believe both Pawan and this comedian.

‘I’m A Bigger Hero Than Pawan Kalyan’

Share

Praja Shanthi Party founder KA Paul never failed to become a butt of jokes for his peculiar and controversial statements. Currently, Paul is busy with an election campaign for the ongoing LS polls. After repeatedly making illogical statements on AP political leaders, he has now shifted his focus to Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan.

Just a few days ago, Paul claimed that he got death threats from the YSRCP leaders and demanded Z plus security. Now, he made sensational statements on Pawan saying that he is a much bigger and better hero than Pawan Kalyan.

Actor-turned-politician, Pawan Kalyan, has a massive and crazy fan following and Paul left no stone unturned in speaking irrationally. He said voting for Pawan Kalyan and his brother Nagababu is the most foolish thing in the world. Earlier, he contradicted the statement by saying that Pawan has the ability and charisma to be the CM of Andhra. And now, he changed his opinion by claiming that no one should vote for Pawan Kalyan.

He even questioned the public, “Why are you voting for Janasena, only to touch Mayawati’s feet?” Moreover, he added that both Pawan and Nagababu are only actors in the film industry. But he is the hero for the whole world, he boosted himself by praising his uncanny actions. He claimed that he has stopped seven big wars global wide and promoted peace.

He later went on to say that he can dance better than Pawan Kalyan and he labelled himself a ‘natural dancer’. He challenged everyone to participate in dance, running, and debate competitions against him. “I’m ready for anything”, he provoked.

Nithin Donates To Janasena

Share

A couple of days ago, We has come up with an article titled ‘Pawan Kalyan @ They Cheered. They Used. They Backstabbed’ where the likes of Nithin, Ali, Bandla Ganesh, Kona Venkat and other so-called Pawan Kalyan fans are discussed. And it looks like the impact of this article is quite big.

Realizing that they have made a huge mistake in totally ignoring to talk about Pawan Kalyan and his political outfit, other day, Nithin’s father Sudhakar Reddy has rushed to Vijayawada to pay a visit to Pawan who is recuperating from dehydration. And then gossips also emerged that they have made a donation to Janasena as well.

Today morning, Janasena party has officially confirmed that actor Nithin has donated 25 lakhs to Janasena party. This is a big celebrity donation coming to the party after Varun Tej who has donated 2 crores earlier. Well, it looks like Nithin took the criticism positively and responded on time.

On the flip side, comedian Ali has shot a tirade against Pawan Kalyan saying that neither the superstar ever helped him financially or professionally.
