Secret surveillance on Revanth’s movements ?

Telangana Congress Working President and firebrand leader, A. Revanth Reddy, has been a popular politician in the state. Despite his loss in Telangana Assembly elections from Kodangal, Revanth is preparing himself by actively campaigning in Hyderabad as he has been chosen as the Congress’ candidate for Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.

With Revanth getting back into action and again trading barbs at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and its chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Telangana government is again watching him closely. Apparently, the TRS-government has directed the Telangana police to keep a track on Revanth Reddy’s every move.

In this direction, the police reportedly have launched a secret surveillance operation to keep a vigil on the Congress Working President. There is also information that his phones could be tapped. Apparently, the state intelligence agency also has been pressed into action for this.

A similar exercise was taken up during the Assembly elections when a midnight raid at Revanth’s residence took place while the police forcefully broke open the doors of his house, also by breaking open the door of his bedroom while he was asleep along with his family members. The High Court took a serious note of such an action and has suspected the local police chief for such misuse of state machinery.

Congress leaders state that every vehicle that is entering Revanth’s house or leaving it, is also being monitored. The surveillance is being taken up at Rachakonda, Cyberabad as well as Hyderabad police commissionerates which the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency covers. With Revanth swinging back into action in the Lok Sabha polls, TRS is surely jittery about his presence and the covert surveillance definitely reflects it.

Why Jana Sena could benefit TRS in Malkajgiri

Of late, Jana Sena Party Founder Pawan Kalyan has been attacking Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and asking him to contest in AP elections directly if he really wanted to fiddle with the state’s politics. He even went ahead and sought the TRS chief not to unnecessary create differences between Telugu people and turn them against each other.

In the recent list announced by Jana Sena, the party had decided to contest from Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency in Telangana. For this, Pawan Kalyan has chosen his long-time associate Mahender Reddy. The party hopes to tap into the “settler” population in this Lok Sabha constituency that cover 7 key assembly segments in Hyderabad. While this could be its contest, Jana Sena – which has been opposing TRS and its means to interfere in AP politics – may indirectly benefit the TRS in Malkajgiri.

Malkajgiri candidate from the Congress is Revanth Reddy, the party’s working president who is against KCR’s family and the TRS. While Jana Sena hopes to seal some of the settler vote, its contest in Malkajgiri will dent Revanth Reddy’s vote bank which the Congress is heavily banking on. While Jana Sena may be excited about its debut in Telangana Lok Sabha elections, it will indirectly be helping the ruling TRS by splitting Congress’ vote share, unfortunately.

The sudden reports in Hyderabad that megastar and former Union minister Chiranjeevi will hold a press conference sometime later in the day has triggered huge speculations in the media.

If the information has come from film journalists, it is not a big news as he might talk about his upcoming film “Sye Raa,” but the news has come out from political reporters.

Therefore, it is natural to assume that Chiranjeevi might talk about the political scenario in the Telugu states.

The reports naturally generates a lot of interest because it was only on Sunday that Chevella MP and Congress candidate Konda Vishweshwar Reddy had met Chiranjeevi and sought his support.

Reddy is closely related to Chiranjeevi, as his wife Sangeetha Reddy is the aunt of megastar’s daughter-in-law Upasana Kamineni.

Now, the question is whether Chiranjeevi would announce his support to Konda Vishweshwar Reddy or even declare his plans to campaign for the latter in Chevella.

At the same time, there is also a speculation that the megastar might come out openly in support of his younger brother Pawan Kalyan whose Jana Sena Party is struggling to fight the ongoing elections in Andhra Pradesh.

If necessary, Chiranjeevi might even take a plunge into direction action to campaign for Pawan in Bhimavaram and also for Naga Babu in Narasapuram parliamentary constituency.

Pawan Cheats His Communist Ally!

Power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has allotted two Lok Sabha seats and seven assembly seats to each of the Communist parties – CPI and CPI (M) as part of the electoral understanding for the April 11 general elections.

But he did not fulfil his alliance dharma and cheated the CPI by violating the seat adjustment agreement.

According to reports, the announcement of Jana Sena Party candidates for Nuzvid assembly seat and Vijayawada parliamentary seat without bothering to talk to the CPI which was allotted these seats as per the alliance agreement.

The CPI has fielded Akkineni Vanaja, its Krishna district party secretary as the candidate for Nuzvid assembly seat.

Later, Pawan Kalyan cancelled the seat allotted to the CPI and promised to compensate the loss by allotting Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat.

Reluctantly, the CPI accepted the proposal and announced the candidature of popular advocate Chalasani Ajay Kumar as MP candidate.

But suddenly, the Jana Sena chief changed his mind on Saturday. He cancelled the Vijayawada MP seat as well and announced the name of Muttamsetti Prasad for the same. This has terribly upset the CPI leaders.

Having no other option, the CPI decided to field the candidate for Vijayawada (West) seat, which it had once represented. The party leaders are angry with Pawan Kalyan for cheating them!

Nayanathara Blasts Misogynist Senior Actor

Nayanthara who normally remains silent about controversies pertaining to her life and career has responded strongly this time.

She issued a public statement against veteran Tamil actor Radha Ravi for his cheap comments against her.

Radha Ravi made objectionable comments on actress Nayanthara that drew flak and sharp criticism on social media from all.

Nayanthara in her statement termed that he is a misogamist. He is kind of actor who to rely on cheap popularity tactics in order to grab some limelight, she slammed.

Her statement…

“At the outset, I would like to remind Mr.Radha Ravi and the likes of misogynists like him that they were also given birth by a woman.

By demeaning the status of women and passing sexist remarks, these retarded men get a feeling of machismo.

I feel terribly sorry for the way they treat women in an opinionated way and my empathy remains with all the women who live in the families of these ‘macho’ men.

As an actor of considerable seniority and work experience, Mr.Radha Ravi should have led the younger generation by example, instead he has chosen to take up the role of a misogynist ‘role model’.

These are troubled times for women, as women are establishing themselves predominantly in every field of public life and asserting their due place in this era of meritocracy.

When actors like Mr.Radha Ravi fall out of business and become irrelevant, they tend to rely on cheap popularity tactics in order to grab some limelight.”

Censor Board Clears Lakshmi’s NTR

At last the confusion over “Lakshmi’s NTR” has ended. The board has cleared the political film and awarded U Certificate. Except minor cuts, the movie remains its entire content as RGV’ envisioned.

There have been rumors that the film will not be cleared by CBFC. It got go-ahead for the release.

Earlier in the day, AP election commission also gave it’s nod for the release after producer Rakesh Reddy explained to the commission that the film is based on the book written by Lakshmi Parvathi, the second wife of Late N T Rama Rao.

Lakshmi’s NTR is biopic on NTR and focusses on his last years. It is slated for release on March 29.

Silence on #MeToo in South filmdom shocks Siddharth

In the midst of a controversy surrounding actor Radha Ravi’s derogatory remarks against actress Nayanthara, actor Siddharth has said he was shocked to see how the southern film fraternity was either silent or cynical about the #MeToo movement in the country.

“I was shocked that my entire fraternity was either silent or cynical about the #MeToo movement. I silently rued the fact that it would take only the anger of a powerful woman to make the sleeping wake up. If you speak up only when your own are affected, it’s not called bravery,” Siddharth tweeted on Sunday night.

His comment came a day after Radha Ravi, who is known for his insensitive digs, passed a remark on Nayanthara at the trailer launch of her upcoming Tamil film “Kolayuthir Kaalam”.

Siddharth initially posted some tweets which he later deleted, and then wrote: “My last tweets fail to communicate what I feel clearly, owing to me needing more words to clarify them. I am deleting them out of respect to women and survivors. There is no need for muddled statements from men like me at this stage.”

The #MeToo movement in India started last year after actress Tanushree Dutta in September recalled an unpleasant episode with veteran actor Nana Patekar on the sets of “Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss” in 2008.

Gorantla Madhav has the last laugh!

Police officer Gorantla Madhav, who resigned from his post of circle inspector of Kadiri police station in Anantapur to contest as YSR Congress party candidate from Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency, finally succeeded in his attempts to file the nomination.

On Monday, the last day of nominations for the general elections in AP, Madhav got a big relief from the state high court which granted him permission to file the nominations.

It was a sort of psychological victory for him, as the police department refused his application for voluntary retirement on the pretext that two charge memos were pending against him in connection with certain alleged irregularities in the past.

He would have become unfit to contest the elections, as Election Commission would reject Madhav’s nomination on the grounds that his resignation had not been accepted.

To be on the safe side, the YSR Congress party made arrangements to field alternative candidates, including Madhav’s wife.

In the meantime, Madhav moved the court, which delivered its judgement on Monday after prolonged hearings. He immediately rushed to the returning officer to file the nomination.

Madhav hit the headlines a few months ago threatening to slash the tongue of firebrand TDP MP from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy.

He clashed with Diwakar Reddy who alleged that the police had miserably failed in controlling the violence in Tadipatri mandal that took place during the Ganesh Nimajjan festivities at Swamy Prabobhananda Ashram.

Since Madhav belongs to Kurubala caste which had big representation of voters in Hindupur Lok Sabha segment, Jagan preferred to field him from the constituency.

Transgender to fight against Lokesh!

Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh, who is contesting as party candidate from Mangalagiri assembly constituency, will have to fight not only with sitting YSR Congress party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, but also from a transgender.

On Monday, the last day for filing nominations, a transgender Tamanna Simhadri filed her nomination papers in Mangalagiri as an independent.

She is the first and only candidate belonging to third sex to contest the elections in Andhra Pradesh so far.

Tamanna, a native of Vijayawada, said she had decided to enter the fray to fight for the rights of her community.

“These days, elections have become a game for only rich and mighty. Only those with huge money power are able to become MLAs and MPs. I am only trying to put an end to this practice and show that even a transgender can champion the cause of the people,” she said.

The transgender candidate said she had no family and so, there was no need for her to run after money.

“I will be available to the people round the clock, if I am elected to the assembly,” she said.

Taking an indirect dig at the contest by Nara Lokesh, Tamanna said she would fight against the dynasty politics and money power. She preferred to contest as an independent, as she said she had no faith in any political party.

By the way, Tamanna is not uneducated. She had done her graduation from Indira Gandhi Open University. As per her election affidavit, she has no assets except a bank balance of Rs 50,000.

Chandrababu Hits Six: To hike pension to Rs. 3000 ?

In a changing political narrative and the heat of elections looming over, political parties in Andhra Pradesh are going all out to woo voters with freebies and schemes, if they win and form a government. With YSR Congress President, announcing Rs. 3000 pension for senior citizens last month in Tirupati, AP chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu now has announced that if they win again, they will increase the pensions from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 3000.

The TDP government already hiked the pension from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000, this year with an eye on elections. Now, the TDP chief has gone further and promised to decrease the age eligibility for senior citizens so that others also can benefit from the state’s pension scheme. Not stopping at that, Chandrababu also is planning to announce free houses in 300 sq.yards for the poor where the government will take up the onus of constructing these houses.

According to TDP sources, this was told to all the party members in a teleconference. Furthermore, the TDP chief also said that TDP leaders should highlight how Jagan becoming CM of AP could turn out to be a disaster as he could grab people’s hard-earned lands and give way to land encroachments. “KCR wants Jagan in AP because he has understood that Hyderabad’s investors are looking at our state. He wants a weak government like Jagan’s so that Hyderabad regains its investors who will stay put in the city if AP doesn’t develop. This is exactly what KCR wants,” he told his partymen.

Stoking the “Andhra” sentiment again, Chandrababu said that the victory of even one YSRCP MLA or MP means that “we, the people of Andhra are letting KCR and KTR rule us,” he said, adding that people’s pension, water to drought-hit regions and farmlands and every other benefit will come to a grinding halt if Jagan comes to power. Looks like the ruling TDP is going all out to ensure that it retain power this time to complete all the pending works it began five years ago!

I Am Happy To Join The Indian Legends -Mahesh Babu

Much awaited wax statue of Mahesh Babu which will be exhibited at Madame Tussauds in Singapore is unveiled in Hyderabad today. Speaking on the occasion, the Superstar felt quite happy and revealed some interesting things.

“The statue is freaking me out, because it is very real, and it can’t get any better than this,” said Mahesh, talking about the statue, whose strands of hair is individually placed by the team of sculptors, making it look super realistic. When asked about the moment, Mahesh also added that he is happy to join other legends in Singapore. “It’s an honor that I’ve got my wax sculpture and it will be placed alongside many legends of Indian cinema in Singapore. There couldn’t be more happiness than this” he says.

At the same time, Mahesh also stated when he first felt like having a statue for himself. “Six years ago I went to London with family and then visited Madame Tussauds there. Then I felt, one day even I should also have my statue erected and today here we are” he asserted.

Talking about the statue, with Mahesh on the other side of it, his wife Namrata jokingly said, “I think I’ve two husbands now”

YS Sharmila On Pawan Kalyan & Not Contesting in Polls

YS Sharmila has briefed media in which she has made several interesting points. When asked about why she is not contesting on YCP ticket, she has avoided the question smartly and said, “YSRCP will win with bumper majority in coming elections.” On being prodded, she said whether she contests or not, YCP will win with a huge majority.

Sharmila has attacked actor Pawan Kalyan. Talking about Pawan, Sharmila said, “Pawan Kalyan is an actor. Chandrababu Naidu is a director. Pawan is acting as per the directions from Chandrababu. This is very evident.” Sharmila said she spotted Pasupu (TDP) cadre during the nomination of Pawan. She alleged a collude between Janasena and TDP.

YS Sharmila has made severe comments on senior politician like Chandrababu. Using harsh words like “Siggunda”, “Gadidalu Kasara”, Sharmila questioned what Chandrababu has done all these 5 years and why is now coming up with the slogan of ‘Mee Bhavishyattu, Na Badhyatha” (Your Future Is My Responsibility).

When asked about whether elections in AP are between Chandrababu and KCR, Sharmila shot back saying how can elections in AP be held between Chandrababu and KCR. She said KCR has won with thumping majority in Telangana and hence she said the question itself is wrong and has no significance.

Sharmila defended her brother YS Jagan and exuded confidence that her brother and his party YCP is going to come to power very soon. Overall, Sharmila’s press briefing was not so great as she abruptly cut down the questions posed by journos and gave them cut-short answers without elaborating. Instead, she questioned back journalists to ask the questions to Pawan and Chandrababu.

Beware of actor and partner of Chandrababu: YS Jagan

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has targeted AP CM Chandrabau, Jana Sena Pawan Kalyan and Praja Shanti KA Paul in his speech. Jagan on Sunday campaigned in Guntur district and addressing the public he said, “Even Chandrababu knew about anti-incumbency against his government. In order to divide the votes, he has brought in an actor and a partner,” said Jagan.

“This actor and partner will do whatever Chandrababu say. From speaking in the election campaign to selecting candidates for fighting the elections, everything has Chandrababu’s mark. Even his partner’s party flag resembles like that of YSR Congress party’s. I would like to ask this actor and partner why they are playing hide & seek instead should come out openly and reveal their hidden agenda. If they do so even the actor and partner knew that they would lose their deposit in the elections,” said Jagan.

The opposition leader then lashed out Chandrababu and questioned what is stopping him from giving the murder case of YS Vivekananda Reddy to CBI. “With elections approaching Chandrababu will try to influence voters with money. I request all to not get carried away and inform everyone that I will be the chief minister in the coming days. The ‘Nava Ratnalu’ scheme will be successfully implemented which will benefit the poor,” added Jagan.
