Here comes a big breaking news. Telangana CM KCR has reportedly summoned his son and minister KTR to meet Jagan and invite him the Federal Front. Tomorrow, KTR and senior TRS leader and MP B Vinod Kumar will be meeting Jagan in Hyderabad and formally invite him to the Federal Front.
Since last year, KCR has been meeting various national level leaders and inviting them to join his ambitious Federal Front, a third mega alternative to the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led UPA. However, KCR failed to convince veteran leaders like West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, apart from a few North leaders, to be part of the Federal Front.
Meanwhile, speculations are in full swing that KCR’s Federal Front invitation to Jagan could be the first ‘return gift’ to his arch rival and Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Incidentally, Chandrababu is also on a mission to herald a third front, uniting all the anti-BJP forces ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Also, this latest bonhomie between KCR and Jagan is being seen as an intimidating act to pressurise Babu before the elections. All said and done, The coming days are going to be quite interesting in the Telugu political world.
As security threats worsen, the prize money needs to be attractive too. At the annual Pwn2Own hackathon at the CanSecWest conference in Vancouver, Canada, security researchers finding bugs take home the laptops they exploit, but this year, they can take home a Tesla.
Tesla has announced that it is partnering with Trend Micro to offer up a Model 3 to be ‘pwnd’. According to Engadget, it will be the first vehicle in the Pwn2Own contest’s new ‘automotive category’.
Instead of the good old laptops, security researchers will attempt to find bugs with the Model 3. If they are successful, they could drive home the swanky new car.
In addition to Tesla, there are over USD 1 million in cash and prizes to be won at this year’s Pwn2Own contest.
NTR Kathanayakudu’, the first part of NTR Biopic, sent shockwaves in the trade with its poor collections all over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Directed by Krish, Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer “NTR Kathanayakudu” released on Jan 9 on the eve of Sarkranthi season.
As a film that was touted to be one of the biggest releases in the recent times, the film disappointed. Its collections for the first five days are shockingly low despite festival period.
There are many things that didn’t work. Here are the five possible reasons why the film received a big blow at the box office:
1) Reverential tone of the film
From the first sequence, the film showed NTR as god-like personality. Biopics work only when it also deals the dark secrets, and other “uncomfortable aspects” of the celebrity apart from showing their virtues.
In “Mahanati”, Savitri’s rise and fall and how she was cheated by, how she got addicted to alcohol was shown in honest way. In recent Bollywood blockbuster “Sanju”, which was based on Sanjay Dutt’s life, the movie also depicted many controversial topics related to the actor.
In “Kathanayakudu”, we only got to see NTR’s greatness. He is hero with no weaknesses or faults, that is how Krish showed him.
2) No emotional connect in the film
The film didn’t have no emotional connect. In “Sanju”, the father-son thread was used so effectively to move the audiences. There is no such connect here. Flat narration was seen.
3) Balakrishna losing popularity recently, many communities against Balayya
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s recent outbursts at various public forums have made many communities turn against him.
In recent Telangana elections, his election campaigning cost his party very dearly in Kukatapally and other constituencies.
In Andhra too, two strong communities got hurt with his statements. However, what is shocking is that his own Kamma community audiences also didn’t evince enthusiasm to watch this film.
4) Wrapping the movie in shortest time, leaving no room for correction
Perhaps to please Balakrishna, director Krish went ahead with the deadline of finishing the film in just five months.
A biopic on the legendary personality like NTR needs at least a year’s time for production and another six-months for post-production. But Krish finished the film in just five months and released the movie for Sankranthi.
Had the film was rechecked at the editing table and reshot the dull moments, the scenario would have been different.
5) Releasing all getups even as the shoot is under progress
There is no novelty factor when we saw Balakrishna in various getups of NTR in the film as all of them were already revealed as promotional photographs.
Nobody felt thrilled in the theaters. In fact, many people stayed away from the movie after watching those photographs.
Just two days are left for the commencement of the first session of the Telangana assembly, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is still undecided on the appointment of the Speaker.
Reason: No TRS MLAs is interested in taking up the post, as the post is said to be jinxed. Anybody who is appointed as the Speaker will have to face the defeat in the immediate next election.
Though KCR has some names in his mind, but they are not happy with the offer as they fear that their political career would be doomed.
Some of them even approached KCR’s son and TRS working president K T Rama Rao and requested him not to consider their names for the post, even it would mean they would not be considered for the cabinet posts.
Senior TRS leader S Madhusudhana Chary, who held the post of Speaker in the first Telangana state assembly, faced humiliating defeat in the December 7 assembly elections from Bhupalpally constituency.
His defeat confirmed the sentiment that whoever becomes the Speaker will lose the subsequent assembly elections.
It started with senior Congress leader Agarala Eshwar Reddy, who served as the Speaker earlier, faced the defeat in the hands of Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao in Tirupati.
Subsequent Speakers including G Narayana Rao, P Ramachandra Reddy, Duddilla Sripada Rao, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K Pratibha Bharati, K R Suresh Reddy, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Nadendla Manohar also could not win their immediate next elections.
The actual reason is that if one becomes the Speaker, he would lose connect with the people after occupying such a high position.
He cannot take part in party activities or mingle with the people of his constituency like other MLAs do and that is why he gets defeated!
In any case, there is a report that KCR has finalised the name of former minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy for the Speaker post.
It remains to be seen whether he would agree for the post or not.
Vijayawada: Crores of rupees changed hands as cockfights continued unabated in several parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh during Sankranti, despite court orders and warnings by police.
On the second day of the festival on Tuesday, the cockfights were conducted across Krishna, Guntur, East Godavari and West Godavari districts.
Poking fun at law-enforcing authorities, the organisers arranged special tents, erected barricades in open places, installed LED screens and made specially-bred roosters fight with small knives or blades tied to their legs.
The fight often ends with the death of one of the two birds.
People including women and children thronged these arenas in large numbers to watch the cockfights which they consider a part of the harvest festival.
Punters, including those who came from Hyderabad, Bengaluru and other cities, bet on the roosters. Punters bet anywhere between Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh on each rooster.
Like in the past, politicians including MLAs encouraged the cock-fights, with some even inaugurating the event.
There was no impact of the police warnings on the ground as the organisers faced no hurdle in making all the arrangements.
Police officials in some places allowed cockfights on the condition that they were organised in a traditional manner without tying knives to the roosters. But this request was flouted openly.
The organisers even deployed bouncers and erected fencing to control the crowds. At some places, they arranged liquor. Food stalls set up near the venue did brisk business.
Director General of Police R.P. Thakur had directed Superintendents of Police of all the 13 districts to prevent cockfights and other illegal activities.
Last year, the Hyderabad High Court expressed its displeasure over the failure of authorities in Andhra Pradesh to prevent cockfights.
It was in 2016 that the High Court had banned cockfights. The Supreme Court upheld the ban. However, there was hardly any impact of it on the ground as police failed to check the bloody sport.
Animal rights activists point out that as per the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974, cockfights are illegal.
Humane Society International (HIS) India said that despite court orders, the cockfights continued unabated, reportedly under the patronage of elected public representatives while law enforcement agencies turned blind eye to this lawlessness.
Sankranthi winner F2 is creating sensation all over. The film is doing sensational business from overseas markets to A centers to C centers in Telugu states.
After putting up superb figures on its first three days, F2 is set for the biggest day at the box office. The film’s collections are incredibly sensational on Sankranthi day.
In spite of weak reports and scathing reviews, Vinaya Vidhaya Rama has been maintaining strong hold especially in Andhra and Ceded regions. It is running to packed houses today.
The film’s collections are very good on Sankranthi across all centers except Hyderabad. The film’s collections in B and C centers of Nizam are also very good today.

Petta has been performing okay as it was totally sidelined by Telugu biggies. It is a hit in Tamil though.
