All The Heroines Fizzled Out Before Him

Share

Right before the release of #NTR Kathanayakudu, as some special posters featuring NTR and his heroines have come out, many wondered if all those sparkling starlets will grab the craze away from the central theme of the film. But it got only reversed after the release.

Director Krish has carved out NTR in such a way that the film’s story and premise will always stay true to the intent of showcasing the essence of the legend’s life to all. And the film never deviated from its path, even though they have used some comedy and some glamour.

Whether Shalini Pandey appeared as Janaki, Praneetha shined as Krishna Kumari, Hansika and Rakul Preet appeared in bit songs as Jayaprada and Sridevi, and Shriya Saran as Prabha in Dana Veera Karna movie, are just some come and go kind of appearances only. It’s not that these heroines failed to create impact, but Rama Rao’s aura has overthrown their presence.

Especially the way Balayya carried his father’s character into the masses so intensely made all the heroines fizzle out.

Golden Opportunity For ‘F2’!

Share

Last year when all the films that released for Sankranthi have literally failed to work it out big, the one that came for Republic Day has snatched all the fruits. Yes, with films like Agnyaathavasi and Jai Simha failing to do to magic, Anushka’s Bhaghamathie walked with all the success.

Seems like Tollywood has again re-entered similar phase in 2019 as well, though it’s too early to make such predictions. While the film #NTR is liked by a section of audiences, masses are not patronizing it much. And then, Vinaya Vidheya Rama got a below average talk which could be really tough for it once the holidays get over. So what next?

It looks like Venkatesh and Varun Tej’s F2 has a golden chance right in front of them, served on a platter on their table. If the film could manage above average talk for the kind of comedy it has, seriously it is going to be a terrific box office collection all over for the Dil Raju’s production. Will they cash on this?

How Jagan can change his strategy to become CM of AP

Share

It is a common sight across media to witness YSR Congress President Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy claiming that he will be the CM of Andhra Pradesh for 30 years. From the last two years, these statements have echoed with the media and have been spreading across social media too.

While Jagan has been a strong Opposition leader and has continued to hold the Telugu Desam Government responsible at multiple occasions, there is one thing that could ruin his efforts in becoming the Chief Minister of the state. His continuous statements reflecting his need to remain the ‘CM for 30 years’ portrays him as a power-hungry politician rather than someone who wants to serve the people.

Additionally, Jagan’s constant bickering over Telugu Desam Party and its Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu shows him in poor light. Instead of constantly criticising the TDP, Jagan and his party karyakartas should focus more on how they can offer better governance to a state that is still suffering from the aftermath of bifurcation. Jagan needs to become the solution to Andhra Pradesh’s problems if he wants to portray himself as the CM-material.

While he has made great strides of progress during his Padayatra over 341 days, it would be wise for Jagan to stop making statements which could make him look greedy and self-centred as a politician and focus on positive messaging to ensure his success.

TDP’s trump card: Govt doubles old-age pensions

Share

In a move to appease voters, the Telugu Desam government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to double NTR Bharosa pensions from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000. In a recent review meeting, the Government is said to have taken this decision. This means senior citizen and widows will receive Rs. 2000 every month.

After bifurcation, the Government has taken a decision to hike pensions from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1000 a month for senior citizens, widows, weavers, toddy tappers and HIV patients. For those with disabilities upto 79%, the government increased it from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 and for those whose degree of disability is more than 80%, the government has been giving Rs. 1500 as their monthly pension.

Nearly 50.15 lakh beneficiaries have been receiving NTR Bharosa pensions from 2014. On the whole, from 2014 to 2018, the government has disbursed 24,618.4 crore for pensions. Now, with Assembly elections nearing, the government has decided to double the pension as it could retain the beneficiaries of the scheme and push them to vote for TDP.

While this is a smart move by the government, this could further burden the state exchequer with even more deficit given that the state is already sunk with a huge revenue deficit.

Modi fires CBI chief Alok Verma

Share

Making the conflict between government and CBI look even uglier, Narendra Modi government has fired CBI director Alok Verma from his post. The ousting, which Modi is in favour of, was done within 48 hours after the Supreme Court order on January 8th has reinstated Alok Verma as CBI chief. But, the supreme court did not allow him to take up any major policy decisions until the corruption charges against him gets cleared.

The apex court asked a three-member selection committee, which includes PM Narendra Modi, leader of opposition-Mallikarjun Kharge and SC judge A.K Sikri, to consider Verma’s case within a week. While Modi and Sikri voted for his removal, the leader of opposition Kharge has opposed it during the panel meeting on Thursday. As per a national media report, the Modi government has said ‘Verma’s continuance as director would be detrimental to the CBI’s institutional integrity.’

PM Modi immediately named additional director Nageshwar Rao as interim chief of CBI, until the selection for new director gets finished. In the meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has transferred Alok Verma as “DG Fire services, Civil Defence and Home Gaurd”. Alok Verma’s sacking has come down just 20 days before he was set to finish his 2-year fixed tenure. He was set to retire on January 31.

The opposition Congress party attacked Modi government and termed the removal of CBI chief ‘unfair’ by adding “This shows that PM Modi is very much scared of the investigation against Alok Verma.”

I’ve Doubts If Balayya Could Pull It Off -Chandrababu

Share

Finally one of those most awaited celebs who is expected to watch #NTR Biopic to share his opinion has watched the film. Yes, it is none other than Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Other day after watching the film at a multiplex in Vijayawada, Naidu spoke to media to share his feelings. “NTR himself got into Balayya’s soul and made him do this film I feel. In the beginning, I’ve doubts if Balayya could pull off this biopic feat, but he has amazed me” said Chandrababu, adding that NTR is NTR no matter what and none could imitate him.

“The film will stay forever in history and every scene in the film made me nostalgic about those yesteryears. Director Krish did amazingly well in showcasing 30 years of NTR’s life in 3 hours is a terrific treat”, the AP CM added.

When quizzed about how his role appeared on the screen (played by Rana Daggubati), Naidu added, “You (media) have to tell me that”.

Can Vinaya Vidheya Rama Beat Rangasthalam??

Share

Already Premiere Shows are enroute when it comes to mega powerstar Ram Charan’s latest release Vinaya Vidheya Rama. As the film is hitting cinemas today on the eve of Sankranthi festival, let’s have a look at its target.

Despite the fact that Vinaya Vidheya Rama is an out and out mass commercial movie, the film fetched exorbitant sums from the distributors. Apparently, it was sold for a total of 90+ crores when it comes to theatrical rights across the globe. That sets the bar pretty high for the film to recover, and do you where it is standing?

Needless to say, Ram Charan’s previous movie “Rangasthalam” was also sold for 90+ crores only but that film ended up as a double blockbuster as it collected 123+ crores ‘share’ from the box office. Now, Vinaya Vidheya Rama should also collect in a similar way to end up collecting hefty profits for all the parties involved.

Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, VVR features Ram Charan and Kiara Advani and carrying good hype all over. Let’s see how it fares.

Vinaya Vidheya Rama Movie Review

Share

Plot:
Ram (Charan) is brought up along with his orphan-brothers (Prashanth, Aryan Rajesh and others) by a doctor (Chalapathi Rao). Nothing is important to Ram other than the welfare of his brothers. He will do anything for the sake of guarding them. But a bad guy named Rajabhai Munna (Vivek Oberoi) messes with him and how Ram takes him on is what follows.

Performances:

Ram Charan is in beast mode with tattooed body and bulging biceps in the film. This is the most intense character he has ever done and he does full justice to it. His dances for DSP’s ordinary tunes make them watchable. Kiara Advani is glamarous and is as energetic as Charan in the dance numbers.

Vivek Oberoi looks stylish and gives a subtle performance despite all the loudness around him. Sneha is uncharacteristically loud and so is Prashanth. Aryan Rajesh gets an unimportant role and he couldn’t make an impression. Hema and Prudhvi’s comedy is cringe worthy.

Technicalities:

Boyapati Sreenu is known for making perfect masala potboilers, but his direction goes awry in this one. He is definitely not at his best while penning the script for VVR. He couldn’t write a decent plot around the action scenes. He made sure to have every emotion in the narrative, but none could make an impact due to poor writing and execution.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is mediocre at best. Not even one song is catchy and the background score leaves a lot to be desired. Cinematography is okay and the dialogue could have been better. Editing is clumsy. Production values are grand. The film is made on a high budget in eye catching locations.

Thumbs Up:

Charan

A few elevation episodes

Thumbs Down:

Weak story

Clumsy screenplay

Over the top action

Senseless scenes

Analysis:

Boyapati Sreenu at the helm can ensure a commercially viable film, but not all the time. Even he could go wrong with his formula and Vinaya Vidheya Rama is a proof for it. Boyapati likes to work on the action episodes before completing the script. This time he had this wild idea of one man taking on an army of bad men. The idea itself is over the top and Boyapati didn’t even try to make it look convincing. In his eyes, a hero must beat any number of men to a pulp. Ram Konidela also does just that!

The story itself is a half baked one without proper character development and strong situations to take it forward. There is a story for the sake of it, which is why Boyapati relies on over the top action to fill the void. As a result, Vinaya Vidheya Rama looks like a nineties action film that defies science and logic in each and every frame. Even the actors gives exaggerated performances in the loud scenes where going over the board is a norm.

The film goes off track in the beginning itself when a five year old boy stabs a heavy looking goon. He sacrifices his education for the sake of his orphan-brothers. One cannot understand the logic of one boy staying away from books for the sake of four others. Such dramatic and silly are the emotions in the film that even family drama doesn’t make it worth watching. Boyapati also includes comedy into the setup, but the humor is horrendous. There isn’t a proper romance track for the lead pair.

There is absolutely zero story in the film, which is full of lead scenes to a song or a fight. Vinaya Vidheya Rama is not a film that actors would be proud being a part of. Even diehard fans would find it difficult to sit through the overdose of masala. Sad to see Ram Charan picking a lacklustre film like this one after rediscovering himself as an actor with Rangasthalam. Not even festive season could save this dud

Verdict:
Ayyo Rama!
